DougFungus' Crypt of the Everflame
Game Master
DougFungus
The Crypt where Ekat Kassen was laid to rest has become an important part of the town's history. This year a group of hand selected individuals have been chosen to venture to the crypt and retrieve the Everflame in time for the autumn celebration.
How did everyone feel about the descent into the gorge. What the book called for was a bit different than what played out. The book called for 3 DC 10 Acrobatics checks with a +2 bonus to rolls if you used rope or moved at a slower pace. I bumped the DC to 14 and allowed various bonuses for everything and included an XP award at the end.
The reason I ask is because I never questioned weather or not you all want to be challenged. I'm not the kind of DM who enjoys killing party members, but it does happen as a result on occasion. Thats why I figure I should ask you instead of choosing for you. I'm good either way. Did you guys want me to keep modifying some things or just stick to the book.
Sorry for the lack of input these last two days. Had some unexpected company come to the house yesterday and then was gone all day today for a family get-together.
Thanks for rolling for me Doug.
I am ok with a little bit of challenge and if there is extra XP at the end, that is a nice bonus!
Congratulations Everyone! We have made it to the crypt! This is the part I have been looking forward to since the very beginning.
I have uploaded a new map to the Party Folder labeled "Crypt of the Everflame - Placement". Please have a look at it and decide where you'd like to have your token placed when we begin the map. I hope it's obvious that you are limited to the grassy area at the top. Just ignore the token thats already there. I needed it to test the sight lines. The starting area is not that big. I tried to keep the file size down when making this so creating a whole outside area didn't make sense at the time. If this is an issue I can expand.
For convenience I give you a Link!(I hope it works)
I also wanted to let you know that I have been working on the maps for part 2 of this 3 part adventure Masks of the Living God. I am about 75% complete. That means that if things go well after Crypt of the Everflame I can now give a guarantee that be moving on to the next module if you're all interested. I know I mentioned that I didn't have a very high opinion of it earlier, but after giving it a second read I think it might be a lot of fun to play. More on that after this module is finished though.

Skill challenges are fun, even when I fail them. The xp eases the pain. Please feel free to mod the scenario to your liking. As long as it's a fair challenge, I'm happy with it.
Kerret will take A11, behind Lorant. He will also cast light on the tip of his spear.
Human Mobile Fighter (hp 31/34; F+5, R+3, W+2 (+2 vs. Fear, +2 vs. Illusions); AC 17, T 12, FF 15)
Doug, if I can see something on my map, does that mean Lorant automatically sees it? Specifically, if the maps shows an enemy, does Lorant recognize it as such?
Yes, if you can see it on the map than it is there. It also factors in line of sight and cover automatically.
I still hide a lot of things on the map too. Things like traps and secret doors etc.. Still require the necessary checks to find. Keep that in mind when exploring my maps.
Kaylee, I know you have an ackward vantage point but I know you can see at least 1 skeleton. You might want to revise your actions this round.
They're roaming around and will attack you on sight.
If there is a token on the map it is always going to be an active PC, NPC or Enemy. If I want you to see a pile of bones rather than an active skeleton I won't put a token on the map, I will instead place a graphic of a pile of bones. The 2 bodies on the map for example are not tokens. I needed you to see a dead body so I placed that graphic rather than a token.
If you kill an enemy though I will place a tiny skull marker on the token to represent that it's dead, just like to wolves. I don't have enough graphics to replace every monster after it dies.

No worries, I'm turning off my internet tomorrow and flying back to the US the next day so I won't be available. I apologize for the short notice, we were unsure if the oncoming typhoon would push back our flight.
I'm taking charge of a new PBP. Recruitment is up and we're looking for players. I'm hoping to get about 20. If you're interested in trying something different I'd encourage you all to sign up. Its a quick, RP intensive diceless murder mystery. These games only take about 2 months to play through. Everybody who has signed up to date has loved it.

Thanks, the flight went well but the wi-fi on base apparently been down the past few weeks so I'm posting by phone until next week. Its good to be back. =)

Yeah, I'll be here in California for a week before I fly back to Ohio to visit family. It's a pain to see coordinates on the screen is my only gripe. How do you guys get the stats in bold by your name? I wanted to start doing that for Kaylee.
If you are having a really hard time I could try to scale down the maps. I'd prefer not to have to though since they already require so much work. I want to keep my players happy.
