Doom Comes to Dustpawn

Game Master shrodingerscat

Dalviss Crenn, ex-adventurer and proprietor of the Mineshaft Inn of Dustpawn (in eastern Isger, near the Drumish border) has sent an invitation to each of you, asking for aid. A meteor recently crashed somewhere in the hills, several miles to the south of Dustpawn, but Dalviss believes it to be a ship from the far reaches of space. The townsfolk scoff at his theory, and to save himself further ridicule, and get to the truth of the matter, Dalviss has turned to you to find the crash site.

Argh! @ the ACG. So many new toys...

Believer's Boon: Gain that use of a 1st-level cleric domain ability.
Curse: Malign Eye (Su): As a standard action, you can afflict one target within 30 feet with your malign eye, causing it to take a –2 penalty on all saving throws against your spells. The effect lasts for 1 minute or until the target hits you with an attack. You can use this ability for a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

I'd be giving someone the Evil Eye!

Yeah, cool book.

GMs:

So right now I'm ready to interrogate the goblin, the griffon seems to have flown away, I've just been healed and I'm asking if anyone has any rope to formally tie up the goblin so I can take care of him.

I have to be awake for my first job tomorrow at 5:00 AM Eastern Standard time - that's 7 hours from now; I'm good to go - just need to see what happens next :)

So many options for the future.

They look pretty interesting...

@Paul: If you want to interview the goblin, you will need to wake it up first (maybe a little healing?) because it is unconscious.

Gii offered silk rope before to help pull you up from the pit. You can always use that to tie up the goblin (but right now -- it isn't going anywhere because the goblin's unconscious (as the non-lethal damage exceeded its hp)) and rather helpless.

The thing about it being out? That's true until it isn't - then the goblin is awake.

I'd rather be prepared in advance (i.e. I'd rather tie it up while it's out).

I'm prepared to wake it up and go forward with questions; but I figured I'd wait to see what the rest of the guys are interested in.

Man, first when I'm asleep and then when I'm at work! Pick a time and stick to it! XD

For the next few days I'll be working between 2 pm and 10 pm my time, but I'll be available and up for posting both before and after.

Unfortunately, can't really do that, Bart. As time goes on, I'm sure we'll find some equilibrium.

Was only kidding lefty. Suppose emotes aren't the best way to show that. Considering my own schedule is pretty fluid, I get it.

@Bart: There are no "fixed" posting times in this game. Occasionally the GMs will say, we will start posting at [insert a time here] but that isn't an ongoing thing. We aren't going by one person's timetable. When GM Lefty and I are available to post and can see there is at least half the group available, we shall post and continue. People can catch up when they have time.

Ninja'd by Lefty. Though I swear the above posts weren't there when I posted mine. Ah well.

@All: GM Lefty has called it a night due to feeling unwell. Please finalise your plans for the goblin prisoner. I will be around for some rp but I'm in the middle of my work day and multitasking when I can. I know some have told me they need to get to bed on time tonight as they have work early in the morning -- and that's not a problem. If you guys would rather, we can move quickly through the goblin interview ... Make a list of the questions you want to ask it (and necessary checks/rolls) and I can give you a post with any/all answers. This will expedite the process.

Tomorrow we will begin afresh on your journey to the swamp ... and the search for the missing Leeara.

Maybe interview the goblin and then search for possible tracks. I leave the decision ultimately to you.

Paul would have scouted the perimeter during the 15 minutes just to make sure they weren't ambushed by any backup guys.

I don't expect anything, but that is what he would have done instead of standing around - you know, try to be busy...

Did you want to roll Survival (to track) and I'll give you what the check reveals and we can call it good? (No further rp necessary.)

GM Right: Survival Check to Track (any modifiers for tracking four mounted riders?) -
1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 = 27

Meantime, I got to crash out - see you all tomorrow!

@Paul: I included the modifiers ... Thanks for the roll. Result on game play.

Feel better soon, GML.

I wonder if this is one of those GM moments of "Hmmm, didn't expect the players to care so much about that."

Not trying to speak for anyone. For expediency, these are the questions I think he wanted to ask(feel free to add to the list):

a)Do they have a camp?

b)How many are based out of their camp if they have one?

c)Where is the camp, both direction and distance, if they have one?

d)Why are they hunting so close to the town?

e)Is there some reason they are out of the mountains i.e. did something drive them out?

Hope that helps.

Just nod encouragingly - maybe be a little stern so you don't come off as a weakling (as they respect strength over just about anything). Then after the nod or stern expression you could maybe offer him some water, or some food to snack on...

Basically something that says to him - "You won't be hurt if you do what we ask" or maybe something that says - "You may not like me, but we can do business together without having to kill each other..."

If you have any Cantrips/Orisons that can Aid a players Roll in any way, I'll take those, too :)

I suppose you could just offer him some jerky or something to snack on in the meantime...

Yes, Paul would certainly have translated everything.

To be fair, he's not too comfortable/trusting about goblins; but he knows their species, their culture and their language. He would not only translate everything that the goblin said, but he would also translate any questions you guys had.

Hello, all.

I'd like to say that I'm sorry for any grammar or spelling errors; I have been having some serious issues with my health lately - it may have effected some of the quality of my writing during the posting; though I did what I could to fix any errors that I noticed.

I hope you all have a good night and sorry again for any issues my health may be having on the game.

On the plus side, since I am unable to sleep for more than af ew hours, it is likely that i will be able to post tomorrow when I am home from work.

@Paul: Look after your health, first and foremost. Please get some rest.
