This is for all: If you're going to roll Perception, please tell us specifically what you are looking/searching for. Because this does effect outcomes/results.
@ Bart, with Alar's recent perception check, is he searching with his eyes for something in particular for eg traps, or is he purely going by scent to determine if there are other people in the mines?

In the order you guys are moving up the narrow passage, between Paul and Ayreth is Bart (and 5 ft spaces between you). Looking at some of the rp of last night ... Ayreth isn't behind Paul, but behind Bart (with a 5ft gap between you).
Thanks, guys.
The order is as follows:
Alar scouting (50ft) ahead of the group/Linn.
Linndell (at fork)
5 ft gap
Blue
5 ft gap
Gii
5 ft gap
Paul
5 ft gap
Bart
5 ft gap
Ayreth

Sounds fine with me.

Bart's gear; does it seem consistent with gear/clothing that is worn by folk from Cheliax? I can make a Knowledge: Local check if necessary - please let me know. Thanks.
@Paul: This is something you can rp with Bart. I'm not entirely sure what clothing Bart is currently wearing, but I'm suspecting one adventurer's gear is pretty similar to another's -- unless they wear some motif or heraldry suggesting otherwise. I suppose if he wore head gear or somesuch that can give you some idea as to his ethnicity ... Still ... With what we know of Bart's clothing to date -- Know. Local will be of little to no use. RP it out since you guys are waiting for Alar to report back.
Bartholomew Grayson |
Are perception checks like that separate? I figured if there was anything to notice by sight or sound Alar would use the base to pick it up, and if there was anything to notice by scent, Alar would get a +8 to smell it.
He's looking for dangers in general either way so if you need a second roll, I'll make one for you just in case.
Bartholomew Grayson |
With the log trap and the frogs from earlier I'd say... Human threats, traps, and any creature threats.
And sorry for the delay. I'm on an incredibly weird sleep schedule thanks to allergies keeping me up so I just woke up a little while ago.
GM Right Hand of Doom |
@Paul: There are coordinates on the current map I have issued on the board. So I'm unsure what you mean by you have no coordinates to go by.
If you want to search for traps, then let us know.
To all: Do you all start moving forward up the narrow passageway and into the left tunnel? Just let us know what your plans are as a group.
Calling it a night. See you all in my morning. :)

Sorry about that - I was looking at an older map.
My bad.
I'm able to do a bit of postings between jobs; just let me see what's on the board, though. And again, sorry for any confusion...
Doctor Gii |
I'm fine today, I just was worth shit yesterday and had to go straight to work today.
I'll have something up in a minute.
GM Right Hand of Doom |
Thanks, Gii. Hope your health stays good.
Note all: Lefty is at his RL tabletop game tonight and I will be entertaining guests soon. We're at the top of the new round, so if we can post tonight, we'll get the bad guys' actions up. Otherwise it may be tomorrow. We'll keep you posted, and, sorry for the delay. Thanks.
Paul Antairis |
Actually Gii is probably one of the few people who can hit it.
As far as Paul knows, Gii is a doctor with some clerical abilities and (possibly) the only person in the party who can deal with the strange plague we've seen. Paul wouldn't want to risk their chief asset against the plague on the off-chance that the doctor can hit it, unfortunately.
Ayreth |
Sorry, got lost in a science panel on youtube.
Paul Antairis |
Ayreth - if you are able to levitate Paul up to use a melee attack on the orb, that's cool - but if this going to happen can my Standard Action to use "Total Defense" be ret-conned?
Paul Antairis |
Paul, we are not permitting a retcon in this round.
btw: The orb is current 15 ft away from Paul and 16 ft in the air over G:2.
So the orb is currently already 16 feet off the ground? Also, I'm assuming that there is space above the orb and the roof of the tunnel we're traveling in?
Okay, that said - how high exactly is the roof of the tunnel?
GM Right Hand of Doom |
In the left tunnel itself the roof varies from 14 to 18 feet. All along the southern wall (where the first orb is hovering in the air (G:2) and firing), the roof is 16 ft high so no room above it.
In the middle/centre of the tunnel the roof is 18 ft.
Note to all: The two Defender Globes are skimming the roof at the present time, so no space above them.
Paul Antairis |
Round 3: We have Blue, Bart and Alar left to act.
Not to mention Linndell - he only took a partial Move Action and still has the remainder of his Move Action as well his (potential) Attack Action or at least the remainder of his Standard Action; unless he's intentionally not attacking?
GM Right Hand of Doom |
Linndell is nauseated. (This is his last round of it.)
Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move action per turn.
So Linn has had his turn by drawing his weapon/bow.

Ah! Thanks for the clarification, GM :)
Bartholomew Grayson |
Blue, my stars deal fire damage, which these things are unfortunately very resistant to. I'm lucky I was able to identify what they were or I would have wasted a couple. XD
Ayreth |
Haha, are we that stymied by these things?
Looking at the map, the rest of us do not have line of sight to the bat-elf girl, correct?
Paul Antairis |
Paul:[ooc] when/if you attack again while levitated you will be at -2
Left - I'm pretty sure that the penalty you're referring to is for multiple attacks each round - such as if I was using Two-Weapon Fighting or had a BAB of +6/+1 and used a full attack.
In other words, with the cumulative penalty for fighting in the air then it would be subtracting -1/-2 for a net total of at a +5/-1.
Or if I had a BAB of +11/6/1 I think the penalty would be -1/-2/-3 for a net total of +10/4/-2 and at the top of a new round the penalty "reboots", though I may be wrong.
Of course, before I do anything, I need to know what's up from Ayreth via the levitation; but if I could get clarified, that would be great.
GM Left Hand of Doom |
"A levitating creature that attacks with a melee or ranged weapon finds itself increasingly unstable; the first attack has a -1 penalty on attack rolls, the second -2, and so on, to a maximum penalty of -5. A full round spent stabilizing allows the creature to begin again at -1."
It works as I stated in the gameplay post. It does not say "the first attack in a round."

Aye, I read it the same way. Sorry, Paul, it was the best solution that I could think of.
On a "lighter" note, Levitate lasts 1 min/level, or until dismissed, so, you're good on that.
Bartholomew Grayson |
Seriously this day... I am just all over the place. I edited Bart's action to something he could actually do, since he doesn't have enough move to get in sight of Bat Lady. Unfortunately he rolled a one on one of his only slightly useful spells in this situation and completely missed. XD
Ayreth |
I don't understand. There is no such thing as a terrible pun. ;)
