I could do gunslinger...maybe spellslinger(wizard archetype)/gunslinger... Or gunslinger/ranger... Is Eridani an acceptable favored enemy?

How does one choke a fish, well besides taking it out of water?

How strong of characters are you looking for. I was just told by a DM in anohter game recruitman which was 8th level gestal that my character was too powerful, even though one of the guys in game posted how reliable I am as a poster, b/c he is in nother game with me. Well he said that a was a strong poster which I assuem means reliable and good post to boot. Sorry venting a bit here but the DM said my guys was too much to track and validate and would through things off. Now the kid in me wanted to be like why are you running a game if you don't know how characters work? So just asking so I don't I guess go overboard this time. Thanks.

Hey, what are naming conventions like in the different countries? Should I just go with standard fantasy fare; "Mizzen the Slinger" or something more earth ethnic; "Vladimir Alexidrovich" or "Nigel Smythe" or "Mbebe Nwodo"... Or, ultimately, does it not matter?

Edit: I just noticed the little parentheses enclosed comments about culture, as I'm planning to be an Anthrosian, I will choose a greek or roman style name.


Incidently, Mbebe Nwodo is the name of a doctor who works in the local ER.

Hey, what's the rule with multiclassing; could I be a (Gunslinger/Ranger)2 then (Spellslinger/Ranger)1, for character level 3, Gunslinger2/Spellslinger1/Ranger3?

Yeah, either way I'll have a Gunslinger/Ranger ready in just a few, make a version for both ways.


Couple questions while I finalise my character for submission:

1. Do we get 2 traits? Campaign traits?
2. Average starting wealth for third level?


nah, forget the spellslinger variant... I'll just go gunslinger/ranger...


So I did a random roll on the Ultimate Campaign background generator and came to the Conflict section... I got; committed Mass Murder of Leaders for Justice... that works, would definitely explain how come he's kind of laying low now...
the rest of it works really well too... orphaned, adopted, witnessed death of his family, burning with revenge...

For what it's worth, I think the way to do this would be to alternate between Gunslinger and Ranger, and level up Spellslinger every time. Multiclassing is rough on spellcasters because of how much it hurts to lose a level of casting - both for DCs and for what you can do.

With that said, Ranger and Gunslinger both have: 1d10 HD, Good Fort and Ref saves, and full Bab. Changing between those only affects 1) how many skill points you get since the Ranger gets two more, and 2) what you get for class abilities. That'll seriously help bolster the Wizard side, and it'll always be consistent, which is great. A wizard with full BAB and a ton of health alone is an amazing thing.

Unless you really want the pet, which is likely to be weak from the Multiclassing, I might even stop Ranger after 3 levels - you'll have Track, Wild Empathy, Favoured Enemy, Favoured Terrain, and two free Feats. You could even take an Archetype to get Trapfinding out of it if you wanted.

Oh yes, please take either two traits OR a bonus feat at character creation. You have 3,000g to spend on equipment.

I'd prefer no multiclassing, just to save the mess. I guess whatever the gestalt rules say about it, but definitely no prestige. It doesn't work to well with gestalt.

I think Gunslinger/Ranger would be BA. Pick the Trapper archetype, and you'd really be a hunter/desperado :)

Sorry EldonG, as fun as that'd be, it'd conflict with the story if you played an undead. :-/ I'm willing to hear other ideas.

Alright. So, I'm switching Cecil up to make him Vanguard // Linnorm Bloodline Sorcerer. Vanguard is the closest thing I can find to an Arcane Archer base class so it should be a pretty neat little mashup.

Doing a little bit of tweaking...buying equipment, shuffling strength up a bit in order to carry the equipment.


I'm surprised no one has gone for a Sorcerer/Oracle.

Part of me wants to make a Wizard/Cleric who takes Magical Lineage: METEOr swarm, his name would be Tellah. :P


Sorcerer/Oracle would be alright, except you can still only cast one spell per round... you may be longer lasting, but your actually effectiveness in a battle doesn't necessarily increase.


EldonG - I like the idea sir. You'd be limited to choosing Wildman (a subtype of the maorens). Shoot me a pm with backstory ideas for me to consider.

Diphycue - yes, the abilities of the varying ethnicities are added to the human racial traits.

Yes, I like heroic distinctions because I hate the idea of being super awesome solely based on the equipment. However, this does not mean you won't find equipment and such. That's a lot of the fun. But you just wouldn't be dependent on it.


Just checking back in. I think you will like Alice when I finish with her. Keeping the "R" rated in mind with adult themes. Been a busy few days at work, but I hope to have here finished soon.

Carroc will be a Wildman with a *learned* LN alignment...it's the only way he can maintain control. He's more CN by nature, but struggles to keep the beast from running his life.

He's had years of monastic living to help...

Azeban, a mystic orc witch doctor now enslaved by the Master Race.

Drake Steelwind, an anthrosian mercenary with a moral compass.

Sky Arkham, an anthrosian who is a master rifleman and giant hunter.

Carroc of the Wild, a maroen from the northern reaches of his continent who is cursed with the spirit of the Hunter.

Sydney, a magi with a thirst for Eridani blood.

And of course, Cecil Macer, an anthrosian soldier in the draconic fleet who seeks the power of the dragoons.

Soooo.... we're pretty magic heavy. Can I convince anyone to take on a skill roll with one of their classes? If not, no worries. I will make an NPC.

Slayer (ranger/rogue based) is 6...+1 from Int, +1 from preferred class...


I have decent ranks in like 5 Knowledge skills for what it's worth.

I will be finalizing information and rules by this weekend. Hopefully we can begin next week. My weekends from work are Tuesday/Wednesday and I have a buddy's dirty thirty so I'll be tending to that. Posts may not be everyday as RL comes first and I also do not have internet where I live (in the middle of the f$%$ing Adirondacks). On slow days, I can post from work. I appreciate everyone's interest and I'm sure we will have an enjoyable time playing.


In the meantime, I encourage you all to read the gameplay thread. I won't be butt-hurt if you don't, it just has other information for y'all :-)

If someone drops out, I'd be interested in running an Oracle in this campaign. Basic concept is that he receives his powers from strange alien beings in the outer planes. Think Cthulu-esque; although the powers are great, the constant whispering and glimpses into alien minds have made the character paranoid (and whatever curse I choose). It would probably be either an Oracle/Synthesist or an Oracle/Bloodrager.

Anyways, looks fun!
