Tarvinda continues to distract the living statue, hoping to slow it down a bit. She looks carefully to see if her flail has inflicted any damage on the large animated thing.
Xeros drops his bow and slides down the side wall and when he lands he bolts towards the creature to help assist Andwell. [b]"Hold on little friend I'm coming to help, the rest of you keep it distracted."[/dice]

The big bad is next to Tarvinda but I'm not sure where she is lol.
Andwell you fall from the statue and land on your back on the floor. Neculai you continue to sing. Xeros you make it down the wall safely but you can't aid another in grapples. If you take the key from Andwell you could give it a shot for your self and I'd need 2 grapples. Tarvinda you are able to smack it with your flail again. Seeing Xeros crawl down the wall the creature tries to smash him with the two shields in his hands. One of the shields connects with you doing 12 damage.
No time for pride Andwell. Trust these new friends.
Xeros. Wait. Take this. Andewll holds up the key. The statues girth is too great or my Halfling limbs to gain purchase. Place the key in his back. Feel for the second "click", and turn to your left.
Tarvinda seeing the statue smashing Xeros, shouts loudly at the statue, "Hey you...come on give me satisfaction...fight me you statue of death." swinging her flail once more.
Xeros catches his breath after that big smash then grabs the key from Andwell, "As I said your the boss, heh." With that Xeros leaps on the back of the constructs back and grabs on.
Acrobatics for leaping on the beast and grappling to hold on, if I am able to put in the key I will take that chance.
Acrobatics:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Grapple check:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Andwell you stay on the floor and give the key to Xeros. Neculai your dancing lights seem to distract it until Tarvinda shouts out and you continue to sing. Xeros you make it onto the creatures back, I need one more successful grapple check before you can use the key. Tarvinda you successfully get the creatures attention when you shout but your flail bounces off its foot. The creature does as you ask and attacks you but once again the shields miss you. Etna you move up and attack it with Tarvinda and your blow strikes true.

This thing is ridiculously powerful for a level 2 encounter I think...but you guys seem to be fairing pretty well against it for the most part...
"Think I got it boss, this thing bucks around like a drunken oxen......not that I know wha.." His sentence is cut off by the creature swinging him around, the Tiefling holds on or at least I hope he does and tries to place the key in the hole.
Grapple Check:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
I hope that check gets it or else Xeros will be quoting the immortal words of Andwell "FRICK!.
Xeros slides off the statue landing on his back, taking deep breathes he looks to Etna and gives her a smile back, "Thank you, but lets avoid statues for awhile." He lays there giveing a chuckle.
Tarvinda looks on, sweat dripping from her forehead, matting her hair after the short exertion and concentration of the fight. Breathing heavily she congratulates Xeros and brave Andwell for taking the statue on and disabling it. "Next time a statue starts to move, lets just move quicker. But why do these guardians attack us, who have been given a just and honest task to do. We're no tomb robbers or thieves?"
"The answer is simple it's either
A) they see us as Tomb raiders since we our not familiar with them or
B) it does not care who activates it, which happens to be a cheap and easy solution to tomb raiders."
"Well, then let's just get on with it, we should move on. Stairs to the west or try the door to the south? " she looks at her friends expectantly. As she looks around the walls of the chamber, for frescoes and tapestries.
Andwell steps next to his friend Tarvinda.
Yes yes. Onward we must go. The less time spent here, the better.
Eenie meenie miney more. The last stairs fell down, so let try the door.
I scuttle up to the door, and give it a good check-a-roo.
You detect that it isn't trapped but it is locked. You recognize the shape of the lock and have a feeling that the key you used to turn off the statue will fit this lock or you could try to pick it.
Smashing doors are good exercise. Oooooooooor. We could smash the Halfling eating statue while it's off, then get the key. I'm just saying is all. My oh my.
I don't think Tarvinda will sanction smashing the image of her deity, but it's worth a shot.
Tarvinda stands over Andwell and wags her finger at him, just like he was back at kindergarten "Tut, Tut, Tut!! Now don't be so disrespectful Andwell, there maybe another way to stop the statue coming back to life. I don't want to upset the gods by such an action. So the door or the easy way out down the stairs?" She maintains her school teacher's stance as she awaits a reasonable reply from Andwell.
Hearing Neculai, her face shows her annoyance as her lips clinch together and eyes widen, as she turns her head momentarily towards him, before turning back to Andwell.
Oh. She's talking down to me. But somehow she's still showing respect. I've only know people who say they are my friend. Tarvinda is diffferent. She never says it. She just is.
Andwell steps back. Standing equally between his companions.
Yes yes. There's always another way. Always. Hmmmm.
Prehaps you apply you skills to the door Tarvinda.
While you do that, I have another idea. All locks I've worked on allow the key to be removed after locking and unlocking. Mabyee, just maybee I can get the key out safley.
Wanna help Neculai?
Andwell skitters off back to the statue. Climbs up and exmines the key and keyhole to see if it has a mechanical lock, or if the key just sits in there, indicating it might re-activate if removed.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Not wanting to go through fighting that construct again, Xeros believes he should offer some helpful tips. "Well Andwell if you want to lock it you need to set up the spring and...."

You're investigation shows that you will be able to pull out the key with out the statue reanimating. You pull it out and unlock the other door. You open it and reveal a small chamber that has a table on the opposite side of the room. You go in and see that there are notes with your names on them and items under the note.On the table are items that have a small note attached.
You go in and see the notes are addressed to everyone but Etna.
Neculai:
You find a masterwork rapier sitting on the table for you. There is also a note from Jocyn. It reads:
"If you are recieving this letter it means that you have made it through the top floor of our test for you. I am glad to know you've made it and that my time training you wasn't wasted. Go forth and continue to make me proud."
Xeros:
You find a masterwork longbow and a note from Armina. It reads:
"To my finest and dearest student. I am glad that you haven to sucome to the dangers in the crypt yet and I hope that Cayden has guided you safely through the trials. Use this gift with the skill I've taught and return with the flame soon."
Andwell:
You find a potion of cure light wounds sitting on the table for you. There is a note from Jimes. It reads:
I am glad that the challenges you've faced so far have been overcome but I must warn you that the challenges you face going forth will not be so simple. Take this and use it to keep those around you alive."
Tarvinda:
There is a masterwork longsword sitting on the table under a note from the mayor. It Reads:
Miss Darvelle. I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to thank you for you're service and for keeping an eye on things for me. I hope that the boys haven't been to much of a hand full but if they have I have no doubt in your abilities to put them back in line. Take this longsword as a token of my thanks and bring back the flame.
Etna you're note and item are no where to be found.
Tarvinda picks up her note and reads it, she starts to break into a smile but then stops. "Strange" is all she says, as her brow furrows in consternation. She picks up the longsword and feels it's weight and balance in her hand. "Strange, but how did this get here?" She stops to look at her companions, questioningly.
As the tiefling reads the note for him, he smiles and whispers, "So it is option C after all." Xeros picks up the bow and tests the string, looking in awe at the craftsmanship of the fine weapon.
"This will do, I hope we get more rooms like this." The tiefling says in a cheerful tone hoping to bring up his friends spirits even more.
You leave this room and head back into the room with the statue. You can either try to head through the door in this room or head back into the chamber where you fought the skeletons and go through the other door in that room.
"I say we finish up this section, and then procede to the other side. Was any one else injured from the statue besides myself?" Xeros holds his longbow proudly as he speaks.
