Little is known of the history of the first human civilization, other than the sad story of its destruction. Myths tell of an ancient war between the Azlanti and a race known as the serpentfolk. The Azlanti are said to have driven their enemies off the face of Golarion and into the Darklands. In the war's final battle, Savith, an Azlanti hero beheaded the serpent god Ydersius in the Darklands realm of Sekamina. It is also rumored that exiles of Azlant founded the empire of Thassilon. Whatever the truth of that Myth, recent rumors of the discovery of a "Lost Island" in the Arcadian Ocean fuel rumors that Azlant has been re-discovered...

Prologue Weyve Murkwater:
You stand on the dock as the ship, the Peregrine sails into view. A pity you were not available to leave when the initial crew set out for their journey regardless soon enough you will be joining those brave souls from the Liberty’s Herald.

As is often the case, people crowd around the ship as it arrives in port. You consider whether you should take the opportunity to get to know any of the crew...

Based on your Background, you'll already be in Almas as you are utilizing local contacts to get aboard the Peregrine. Although you do have a Wayfinder, you are not a member of the Pathfinder Society. Yet!

Prologue Spectrum & Ayse:
Spectrum is woken quite early in the morning and asked to attend to the Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shaine. An odd request, especially before dawn after all, Ayse is the chosen Apprentice to Shaine.

Still, it would not do to keep one of the most prominent members of the Society waiting, especially a venerable elf such as Shaine.

The sun just crests the horizon of the east as Spectrum enters one of Skyreach's smaller conference rooms. One of his favorites, the one with a stained glass window depicting Old Man Jatambe's accomplishments in the Mwangi Expanse.

As he opens the door, the bright sunlight momentarily dazzles him, he blinks away the sunspots and sees not only the Master of Scrolls but Aysalith awaiting him within.

The Master of Scrolls opens the conversation, "Well, you certainly are punctual Llevyn, you are exactly on time for this meeting". The door closes behind you and Shaine speaks once more, "Aysalith tells me that you have 'the right stuff' for this trip to the Ruins of Azlant, do you agree? Do you have what it takes to be a member of this Expedition? Later today dozens of Society Members will arrive and make the same claim. My Apprentice assures me that you are the elf for the job. Convince me as thoroughly as you have convinced him".

Prologue Makanaky:
To Absolom the City at the Center of the World, you have sailed. Walking the same cobblestoned streets that countless Pathfinder's before you have walked, including your famous descendant Gregaro. Normally you'd explore this place of wonders but now your sights are set on a greater prize. It is from here that you will, hopefully, join the Expedition to the Ruins of Azlant.

The Grand Lodge located in the Foreign Quarter is a massive fortress, appears to be easily one of the biggest privately owned strongholds in the city. Established 400 years ago, it contains extensive grounds surrounded by a tall stone wall with a single, huge main gate (which is very rarely closed, and is decorated with the Gylph of the Open Road), many yards and outbuildings, and a series of Major Halls. It sits in front of one of the larger plazas in the Foreign District, ringed with shops that cater to adventurers of all stripes. The wall encircles seven sturdy stone fortresses of different architectural periods, the largest of which—Skyreach—is an enormous, white, five-towered palace that stretches high above the others structures and the surrounding city.

You enter the side gate as you were instructed to do by Society Members you met on your journey here. As you enter there are several dozen agents already here! Kreighton Shaine, Master of Scrolls, is standing at a makeshift podium in the Courtyard and appears to be meeting with those assembled and jotting down notes. Though you've not met him in person before, he was described to you with stunning accuracy by said Society Members. As you look around unfortunately, none of the Members that you developed brief friendships with are here right now.

Prologue Aria Gest:
To Absolom the City at the Center of the World, you have sailed. Walking the same cobblestoned streets that countless Pathfinder's before you have walked, including your famous descendant Durvin Gest. Normally you'd explore this place of wonders but now your sights are set on a greater prize. It is from here that you will, hopefully, join the Expedition to the Ruins of Azlant.

Prologue Tempus Proavus XLII:
To Absolom the City at the Center of the World, you have sailed. Walking the same cobblestoned streets that countless Pathfinder's before you have walked, including you in many of your previous incarnations though no memories of the place currently spring to mind but for the way to enter the Grand Lodge once you arrive. Normally you'd explore this place of wonders but now your sights are set on fulfilling the quest you received on Mediogalti island which compelled you to seek out Janira Gavix.

The Grand Lodge located in the Foreign Quarter is a massive fortress, appears to be easily one of the biggest privately owned strongholds in the city. You recall much of its history.

You enter the side gate as you remembered. As you enter there are several dozen agents already here! One presumably prominent one is standing at a makeshift podium in the Courtyard and appears to be meeting with those assembled and jotting down notes.

Though you've not met him in person before you are able to recall his name once you see him, Kreighton Shaine, Master of Scrolls. As you look around you ask one of the friendlier faces if they know of Janira Gavix.

"She's inside, you here to see her or sign up for the Expedition?" He asks though he does raise his eyebrows at your "different" appearance, clearly, he has never met a member of your race before.

He points to the stronghold of Skyreach.

Prologue Tsaong Cho:
You stand on the dock as the ship, the Peregrine sails into view. A pity you were not available to leave when the initial crew set out for their journey regardless soon enough you will be joining those brave souls from the Liberty’s Herald.

As is often the case, people crowd around the ship as it arrives in port. You consider whether you should take the opportunity to get to know any of the crew...

The background needs to be altered slightly as I'll be playing through the interview process. However, as you are not a member of the Pathfinder Society, I'll roll with you being accepted into the Expedition already and this second interview will be a formality.

Prologue Singi Stensen:
You stand next to Ambrus Valsin in Skyreach, the enormous, white, five-towered palace that stretches high above the others structures and the surrounding city and is the largest by far within the complex that makes up the Grand Lodge, watching through a stained glass window depicting Dervin Gest's final fateful trip for the Society.

"The Society was created centuries ago for just a trip such as this. The chance to reach Azlant with actual support and the Godsdamned Andorans have cut us out!

Not to worry my dear, the Decemvirate have a plan to put Society Members on the next ship, Peregrine. That is what all the activity down below is about. Once more not to worry, though they are taking applications to select only a handful of Society Members to infiltrate this next journey, I've pulled strings, you were already selected to go. Shaine believes an abundance of Wizards and spellhurlers should be sent along but with no thoughts for who the hell will protect them. That someone, is you. Even if I have to overstuff this infiltration unit I'll see you on it!"

He sighs and reaches into his belt pouch, he produces a Wayfinder, his own and hands it to you! "Watch your back and remember your lessons from the Society and the ones you learned as a young girl living as an outcast. Be strong, be tough, and most importantly be smart".

The tall blond ulfen woman dressed in light armor takes the Wayfinder respectfully. Her nicked and scarred hands hold the item gently."Thank you. I'll keep it safe and return it to you when this mission is over." She tucks it away in her leather belt pouch. Studying the activity below she notices an abundance of people running around without armor.

"Are they all spellcasters? Trying to keep a bunch of cloth wearing spell slingers safe is going to be hard to do on my own. Of course I'll do my best to not lose any of them on my watch. I'm excited for the mission. Thank you for the chance. Anything else you wish to tell me before I head down and prepare to leave?"

Maka walks reluctantly towards the Master of Scrolls. He clears his throat to call the Master's attention, and then speaks.

"Master Shaine? Sorry to disturb you... My name is Makanaky. I am... I am a descendant of a man you might know, who was called Gregaro Voth. We... might need to talk about this" he says, showing the wayfinder to the surprised man.

Prologue:
My contact told me, "You want in on that mission Aria?" I nodded, I wanted it more than anything. "Then make all haste to Absolom! You'll need to sign up with the Master of Scrolls at the Grand Lodge. Make sure you use the side gate, you're not a tourist."

I was in Jalmeray at the time, so I charted a tea cutter, the fastest way to travel short of flying. Traveling as a passenger was a novelty, it felt strange not to be scrubbing the deck or coiling rope. Despite the fast passage, time passed slowly. I fretted and paced in my tiny cabin. My contact was sure I'd be accepted. My head agreed, but my heart wasn't so sure, my life had known many disappointments.

So it was I found myself rushing heedlessly through Absolom, my heart pounding. No time to gawp. Definitely no time to explore! I didn't really know where I was going but I'd been given detailed instructions. A part of me mourned the lost chance, for in all probability I'd never see Absolom again. Yet the steely determined part of me made me rush onwards.

Before I knew it I was nervously standing on the threshold of The Grand Lodge. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed yet another one of those statues, a Durvin. I felt a wave of irritation, He wouldn't have been fazed by all this. So what if there was already several dozen agents crowding round the podium? I had as much right as any of them.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Perhaps my overwrought thoughts had betrayed me and I'd tarried overlong, I'd been noticed by the man on the podium. The Master of Scrolls had looked right at me! There was nothing for it but to set my jaw and head on over. Before I knew it, I was next in line. I caught his eye again and blurted out, "Master Shaine? I've come to sign up. The name's Aria... Aria Gest."

Prologue:
Weyve watches the Peregrine with barely contained excitement.

There she is! That's the ship that will take me to Arcadia! My voyage of exploration will begin soon! My grandfather would be pleased. But I must do better than my uncles and aunts. Aside from my father, none of Arkas' children ever came back home.

He watches the ship as it pulls in to the dock and moors. He waits patiently, repressing his anticipation, as crew members and passengers disembark. Finally, once it seems that everyone who is getting off has done so, he rushes towards the gangplank.

"Ahoy! Weyve Murkwater here! Permission to come aboard?"

The crewman has barely replied before Weyve eagerly trots up the gangplank. He leaps to the deck with a big grin, and looks around the ship, looking for the captain. When he sees the captain he trots up and stands at attention smartly, bowing quickly.

"Captain! It's an honor, sir. I'm Weyve Murkwater, one of your passengers bound for Talmandor's Bounty. The company has arranged my passage. I know you just made port, but I'm eager to take my berth, and wanted to inquire as to when you plan to sail."

He looks around, gradually becoming aware that he is making something of a scene, and that some of the sailors are staring.

"Ah, yes... yes. Also, I wanted to mention to you that though I am not one of your crew, I have a number of skills that you might find useful. I am a healer both magical and mundane, and should you ever have a man overboard I am also a strong swimmer. I can also make small repairs of mundane objects if necessary. I would be happy to be useful to the ship if you care to call on me."

Prologue::
Standing on the dock, in the sun, waiting for a ship he's never seen before, the young man's mind wanders. "These ships are awfully ugly horses, but this is the path to the future." The crowd waiting on the Peregrine includes an assortment of women, many with children. "As are they. I wonder where their futures will take them? I wonder how many of these women spend their lives waiting for someone to return?"

Looking around at the others waiting, some individuals are harder to ignore than others. "Blue? Some weird people in these cities."

Eventually, a ship slides into place at the dock, the crowd only slightly off-center for where it ties up. Most of the crowd is watching the ship's deck, waving at somebody or another on board as they scurry about the job of securing the vessel. "I wonder which I should be talking to? I guess I should ask. You don't go to the Kahn, you go to his lieutenants. But I really can't tell who is who from here." He sighs. "Looks like things are thinning out enough to try."

As he starts pushing through the small crowd, he sees the blue man charge up the ramp. "Permission to come aboard? Hunh." Reaching the ramp, he stops at the bottom and looks up at the crew above. "Permission to come aboard?" Not really waiting for acknowledgement, he moves up the ramp, catching the end of the blue man's introduction. Instead of following him further, though, Cho turns to the crew member at the top of the gangway. "Who do I talk to about the expedition?"

Male Elf Arcanist/Pathfinder Delver (1)

Prologue:
Ayse's attention turns toward the door and he immediately had the strangely familiar sensation of having to fight down both a grin and the urge to roll his eyes. His head inclines to Spectrum in acknowledgement; they hadn't had the chance to speak yet since he'd heard the younger elf had also joined the Society. He'd meant to, of course, but working with Shaine there always seemed to be just one more errand to run, page to turn, or device to unclog. He hadn't yet managed to decipher any real pattern to which errands the venerable Master of Scrolls considered truly important and which were simply busy work; so far as he could tell, to Kreighton Shaine, there was no such thing as an insignificant detail.

Ayse blinks, realizing he'd gotten caught up in his own thoughts while the Master greeted Llevyn. He quickly runs back the greeting in his mind; convince him? Hm. That was slightly unexpected... His head tilted slightly in quizzical challenge to his fellow novice, as if to say, Don't prove me wrong.

Prologue:

Spectrum gave Ayse a small nod before focusing on the Master of Scrolls. The elf's face was stoic and thoughtful but his eyes gleamed with focus and excitement. "I would be happy to. I am unaware of what Ayse has told you, so you will have to be more specific about what I can do to convince you."

"My primary fields of study are theories of arcane fundementals, applied evocation, and the history of lost civilizations. How wold you like me to convince you?"

Absolom - the Grand Lodge

One by one as you all approach, you quickly discover that everyone here is trying to get selected by the Society to get onto that Expedition, the catch, there's only seven slots...

---

Prologue Weyve Murkwater:
The people getting off of the Peregrine are a mix of smiles and gruff grunts, it seems most were coming from elsewhere to arrive here in Almas but are not bound for the new Colony as they have all of their possession with them as they exit. The crew sailors are working on the rigging and cleaning as its clear the Captain runs a tight operation.

Captain Jacob Markosi is pleasant, a blue-eyed man in his 40's with fair skin burned by the sun. He smiles warmly, "I've yet to receive the manifest of passengers. You'll need to double check that your name is on it before I can give you permission to remain aboard.

I've been told to tell anyone who comes aboard to head to the Citadel of the Supreme Elect and seek out Smedrik, the Seneschal of Codwin I of Augustana".

As he relays that information you see another man at the top of the gangplank speaking to another of the crewmen. Tsaong Cho.

Prologue Tsaong Cho:
As you reach the top the crewman nods to you, an attractive half-elf female who received the best features of both races, "I'm First Mate Naerath, Captain Markosi relayed to me that anyone who comes aboard with questions about the Expedition should be directed to the Citadel of the Supreme Elect and seek out Smedrik, the Seneschal of Codwin I of Augustana. I assume as he is the designated representative he'll be expecting an influx of people soon".

Weyve & Tsaong, you are very much near each other and can interact if you wish at any time, you'll find yourselves heading in the same direction soon...

---

Prologue Spectrum & Ayse:
Shaine responds the expression on his face warm despite his tough tone, "Ayse told me you were the right elf for the job. Besides your heritage being an obvious advantage it seems your credentials, as you describe them, are impressive. Of course, I've not seen them applied only described so I cannot be sure whether your theories are practical or merely interesting.

Some of our people need to be on this trip, Azlant was a danger long recognized by the Elven nations of their time, if anything found is dangerous, it needs to be hidden away or destroyed...

However, Arnistolientar Popswicker the famous Delver, Akmanya the Savant of Desna, Torga Stigardsdam the dwarven ranger student of war, and Aram bin Kaleel the inquisitor of Sarenrae have all expressed their intent to get on board for this trip.

Experienced Pathfinders, convince me why I should leave any of them behind to bring you. It is up to you to convince me, not for me to tell you how to convince me. Consider this practice for the real interview in Almas".

Prologue Makanaky:
Shaine's eyebrows raise, "Descendant of Gregaro Voth eh? Indeed, we should speak. Once the press is completed I assure you, we shall". A surge of a few pushy Society Members head to the podium intent to interrupt a conversation that is "off topic", "No shoving! All interested will get a chance to sign up". He sighs.

Prologue Aria Gest:
Those around you murmur when you announce your name, Shaine nods, "Indeed. I've got your name my dear. Go ahead and head to Skyreach, food and drink are there already. Interviews will begin after lunch". He looks as if he wishes to say more but refrains as all eyes nearby are on you as are all ears.

Prologue Singi Stensen:
Valsin grimaces, "I'm afraid that the Master of Scrolls has argued quite vociferously that spellcasters and more than one, are a necessity on this trip based on the history of the Ruins of the Empire upon whose ground the Expedition will soon tread.

I trust you to make the tough decisions and will stand by your judgment whatever should happen. You will encounter something. Hopefully just damn Goblins, like roaches they're everywhere. If that is the worst you face, count yourself lucky.

Interviews will be taking place, you'll need to meet with Shaine for this purpose as members more experienced than you will be bumped for you. If we do not at least observe the formalities, I'll never hear the end of it. Politics. If I would have known there were so many damn politics in this leadership position I'd have never taken it!

Look for one named Ayse, he is Shaine's protege' and I know for sure he will be on that ship with you. Now head down get some food and drink and mingle".

---

Once sign ups are complete Kreighton Shaine makes an announcement, "If I did not mention it, there will be separate interviews. Not only for us to verify membership, though I am sure you are all on the rolls. Your performance on this interview will give us an indication of how well you do on the next, the one you'll need to pass to get on board the Peregrine. There is food and drink at the Great Hall in Skyreach, we will begin promptly at noon, in alphabetical order".

As the initial sign ups are completed, the mass of potential crewmen (and crew-women) head towards Skyreach.

Feel free to interact now with each other or NPC's after your initial responses to the Master of Scrolls.

Prologue & Tsaong Cho:
Weyve looks crestfallen for a moment. But only a moment - his smile brightens again, and he nods to the captain.

"Thank you sir! I'll find this Smedrik right away. Thanks for your help, and I hope to see you again soon."

As he heads over to the gangplank he sees a Tien man speaking to the First mate, and he overhears the name "Smedrik."

Once the first mate has finished speaking to the man, Weyve steps up.

"Your pardon, but I couldn't help overhearing... are you off to see this man Smedrik? My name's Weyve. The Captain gave me the same instructions. I was going to head there directly. Perhaps you'd care to join me?"

Once on their way, Weyve remarks in Tien:

Prologue & Singi:
"Yes sir, maybe we shall speak again if I make it through to the next phase." replied Aria hopefully. So focused was she on Master Shaine's reply that she didn't notice the murmurs caused by her name. It seemed Kreighton wanted to say more, but he was being mobbed by all the agents eager to sign up. Whatever it was would have to wait.

At the mention of lunch her stomach rumbled, she'd skipped breakfast to get here on time. Without looking back she headed over to the Great Hall. Just inside she stopped to look around, this was the very heart of the Pathfinder Society, of course there were paintings of Durvin along side a great many others. It seemed she wasn't the only hopeful with a famous relative, she'd heard the name Voth mentioned, who could forget his exploits in the Forbidden Jungle?

As she busied herself piling he pate up with steaming food she considered the eclectic gaggle of agents. There where more spell casters than she'd expected, clearly she wasn't the only one for whom the call of lost Azlanti secrets was strong. Still she noted approvingly that several of the hopefuls looked like they could handle themselves in a fight, like that short but powerfully built woman over there with the Ulfen looks.

Sidling over she remarked, "Like being at a convention of sages... I'm sure we'll be glad of them for deciphering ancient Azlanti puzzles, but somebody's got to keep the monsters off their back." Offering her hand she says, "Reckon we're up to the task? Name's Aria by the way."

The Tien human mutters as the attractive First Mate corrects him. "Smedrik. Seneschal at the citadel." He looks her in the eyes as he bows, slightly. "Then I am in the wrong place. Thank you, Naerath. I look forward to spending time on the Peregrine." As he moves away from Naerath, the funny blue man he had noticed earlier asks for company.

"If you wish. I doubt proximity will increase your chances, though." The smile almost makes up for the attitude inherent in the statement. Almost.

"不幸的。城市生活不是田西。沒有什麼比草原上的馬背上的生活更好。然而,找到一個有文化的人是好的。"

Translation: "Unfortunate. Urban life is not Tian Xi. Nothing is better than life on horseback on the steppe. Still, it is good to find one with some culture."

Trying to keep his eyes on the path, preventing himself form being rude and staring, Cho switches back to Common. "I am curious. What skills do you bring to the table that you think will win you a space in the expedition?"

She presents herself to Shane to let him know she's arrived, and hands over the required paperwork. Always paperwork in the Society. She then makes he way into the Great Hall with all the other hopefuls. Shane did say everyone was going alphabetically. I'll watch and see who Ayse. He should be going clost to the font of the group.

She leans on a wall at the edge of the room and looks around to the others gathered trying to guess their skills.

Prologue, Aria, Singi:
His objective is reached - Maka has awakened the man's curiosity. Having done so, he puts his wayfinder back in his place and melds with the crowd. Now he only needs to let things flow until he meets with Master Shaine again.

He observes the people there. Some of them call his attention - two or three northeners, called 'Tien Xia' or something similar, he believes. One guy there who's dark enough he could pass for Mwangi. A wide variation of features and cultures he know just marginally. "All these falks have a reason to be here. I must have in mind that they could also have a means to be in the ship. I can't be the only special one, surely."

Once in Skyreach, he eats some of the varied foods offered though he isn't really enjoying them. "I think I'm too excited to eat." Wanting to relax his nerves, he decides maybe sharing them will help. Looking all over the place, he passes by when someone is talking about the amount of spell casters. Maka turns his head and sees two young women talking who quickly call his attention.

One has a red hair like burning charcoal, and seems the one who just talked. The other one has a mighty physique, and bears tattoos covering her arms whole.

Before even thinking about it, Maka is responding. "Well, not always a supposed spell caster ends up being so, I guess, and vice versa."

Prologue, Makanaky, Singi:
[ A man spoke and Aria turned round to see the one who claimed to be a descendant of Gregaro Voth. He was tall and powerfully built with intelligent eyes. Shrugging slightly she admitted, "I suppose I am judging a book by it's cover, I'm sure the Decemvirate know their business far better than I... Still I have a feeling this Ancorato trip will be pretty wild. Did they say six weeks by boat? Yeah, that's all kind of exciting!" A journey into the unknown, to find ancient ruins? She could hardly wait!

Prologue & Tsaong Cho:
For the record, Weyve is a gillman and looks human most of the time (unless you can see his neck). But he turns blue and dark when he casts a shadow spell; the more powerful, the more dark he gets. I really liked the picture and wanted a way to work it in. But if that is confusing I can switch to a more human avatar image.

Quote:
"I am curious. What skills do you bring to the table that you think will win you a space in the expedition?"

Weyve smiles. "My family are scholars - myself included. We have long studied the relics and history of ancient Azlant, for my people are descended directly from them. We consider it important to hang on to our history, and recover more of it if possible. My grandfather Arkas was one of the people who recovered the keystone of the Arch of Aroden and brought it here as a gift. If you are the type that doesn't care for cities - and I know they are not for everyone - then you probably don't have much use for those skills. But they may be important in understanding what we find out there."

"What would me more of interest to you is that I am also a healer. My mother studied the practice that you call Pei Zin, and she taught me a great deal. I am hardly a master yet, but I can do a great deal given the right herbs. And also I augment that with magical healing. I know a few other spells as well."

"Furthermore, my people can breathe water as well as air." Weyve winks. "When Azlant fell my ancestors hid in the sea, and learned to live there. It is a talent that is useful occasionally."

Weyve looks Tsaong Cho over. "And you? You have the look of a warrior about you. I'm sure we will need plenty of those!"

"A boat? I can't think of many places less exciting than that... There's nothing to explore in a boat!" He smiles widely, trying to be kind. After all, they could have to spend all this time in the boat together, better start the race with the proper foot.

"I love when there's plenty of territory to wander, left only for you to discover... Places never touched in years or centuries, treasures waiting to be unearthed... that's why I'm here."

He looks at the two women and adds: "What about you?"

Prologue & Spectrum:
Absently, Ayse slowly brings the fingertips of one hand together and quickly spreads them apart, his lips forming a nearly silent plosive.

Ayse's platter contains a precise selection of carefully separated foods, which he sets down at a table near the wall of the Great Hall. He exchanges a few pleasantries with a few of the other nearby hopefuls, but his mind is clearly far away in Azlant on the upcoming expedition. After a few moments, he shakes his head and tries to focus. Speculation would do no good, of course - more experienced adventurers than he had speculated on the wonders of the ancient kingdom and come up with nothing. Better to pay attention to the here and now and observe potential teammates.

He turns to the nearby group, waiting for a convenient moment to introduce himself.

Hopefully we won't get to explore being chased by pirates, but you can never be sure..." There was something about her tone, which made you think Aria wouldn't be at all upset if you had to fight some pirates!

See these scars, that's from coral, when it's hardened it's vicious stuff! Anyway I guess I'm not a bad hunter, although I don't really have a gift for it like somedo. Prologue:

The corner of Spectrum's mouth twitched upward slightly at Ayse's subtle suggestion.

"A demonstartion, then." he said. "Not here. I would not risk damaging anything in this room. Or the room itself."

He led Shaine and Ayse to a small training yard outside and extended a hand. A fifteen foot torrent of fire erupted from his splayed fingers and left a smoldering ruined triangle on the ground.

Burning Hands
Fire Damage: 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 2) + 1 = 11

Spectrum knew that the practiced eye of the master of scrolls would easily see that the intensity of the flames was much stronger than the typical Burning Hands spell taught at the arcane academies.

Even still, throwing fire was not terribly impressive.

Spectrum barely moved, but in the wake of the flames a scathing burst of howling blizzard followed, putting out the fire and leaving the scorched ground covered in a layer of rime.

Cold Admixture Burning Hands
Cold damage: 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) + 1 = 10

Spectrum has literally the most powerful evocation available at his level. There's no mechanical way to make it stronger (I looked). And, he can change the energy types around. I'm not sure what the DCs of the Spellcraft and Knowledge Arcana checks would be to know that in game, but i'm betting Shaine has some pretty good ranks there.

"If you'd like, I can cast it again, underwater."

The young man laughs. A hearty, rolling noise that seems to fill the street and attracts attention from the citizens. "Yes, I have some martial training. But I bring more than that to the expedition. As one of the riders of the steppes, I am skilled with animals, not just horses. I know a few things about surviving in the wilderness, and should be able to help make life a little more comfortable as a result. I have researched the kinds of opponents we are likely to face, and have a few minor tricks to make those fights go easier. I was also blessed with the opportunity to learn some of the Azlanti language." He shrugs before continuing. "You might say I had a guardian angel helping prepare me specifically for this expedition. She certainly saved me from a life without meaning." He looks at his feet for a moment. Almost under his breath, he mutters "Now all I have to do is be worth it."

A few step later his head pops up, he sniffs the air, and he points slightly off to the side. "Roast meat on a stick! I hope he has rat. Want some?"

Not wanting to appear he's pressing too much, he quickly adresses other subjects.

"It is certainly good to have a skilled smith at hand, and knowledge of boats when you need to spend all that time in one is also welcomed. I, myself, am a kind of wild card, I guess. I have an uncountenable wanderlust since a very young age, and that made me good at scouting and the like." He shows his boomerang, adding "I can use this, and the advantage is that nearly no one takes this weapon seriously. It's a rather effective weapon, though, and I bet in the ruins I'll have plenty of chances to prove it."

Having a bite or two of the delicious food, he deepens into some other, more personal questions.

"So... you're also... patronised by anyone, or the like? I honestly thought being who I am would give me an edge, but I've found there's quite some important people around here..."

Some of my uncles and great uncles did try to get patronage but it didn't exactly work out, unrealistic expectations or so I'm told. No I had to work damn hard to get here. "Yes, I'm sure that will be important. Almost everywhere we go will be trekking through the wild. Even if we find some lost Azlanti city the wild will have reclaimed it by now."

"I also speak Azlanti, though I mostly use it when deciphering old documents. I rarely get to use it in conversation."

As they approach the food stall, Weyve looks at Tsaong Cho. "Rat? Do they have many rats out on the steppe? I can't say I've had it before. It would be a change from fish and crustaceans, certainly. In Goka it was not considered to be something that people ate normally, though I don't know that much about Absalom..."

"No, rat is not something I am familiar with, but I heard they are everywhere in larger cities like this, making a cheap, ready supply of meat if you need it. I just want to try it." As you get to the stall, Cho is obviously looking over the skewers, trying to see what he recognizes. Most hold nearly indistinguishable strips of meat from larger animals, but a few are tentacles and whole fish small enough to fit on the skewers. "Do you see anything that looks like rat? I may have to try one of those tentacles instead . . .."

After they finish picking out something, Cho trades the vendor a couple of coins for the meat and returns to walking. "How much time have you spent on a ship before? I mean, you said you can breathe water. Is there a reason for you to use a ship at all?"

He chews a bit and goes on, looking at Singi to try to get her involved. "To be honest, I don't even know which generation of my family would correspond to the age of Voth. It's something kept through oral tradition, so it's sort of the 'the grandpa of the grandpa of my grandpa' thing, and you don't even know when or if one of the grandpas lost his count." He smiles widely but in silence. "Voth was from a lot of years ago. Maybe he wasn't even family, I mean... I might be a bit lighter, who knows. Maka listens to what the two women have to say, or feel like saying. He likes to hear people talk, and it's a very interesting activity if you want to learn about them. After all, they could be sharing a ship travel for some time.

Or that's my impression, at least - in a world as ruthless and cold as the one we're in, every bit of help is welcome." He smiles widely and offers the hand to both.

Andoran - Almas - Citadel of the Supreme Elect

Weyve & Tsaong:

The two strangers who find they have a great deal in common finally arrive at the Citadel. The amount of hustle and bustle present is incredible, you can both only assume that the Expedition has heightened the activity level else this city is simply one that conducts substantial business. Perhaps it is both.

A few bureaucrats from the Citadel itself are helpful and direct you to the office of Smedrik. As you knock on the door you hear a chair shift on the floor followed by the sound of deliberate footsteps and the opening of the creaking door. Standing before you is a wizened old human hunched over with bad posture. His outfit is ostentatious and slightly big for his skinny frame. His eyes though are sharp as an Eagles and his voice strong and clear.

"Good day gentlemen, are you here about positions upon the Peregrine?"

Prologue Spectrum & Ayse:
Shaine moves closer to inspect Spectrum's handiwork. "Impressive, it seems you are everything that Ayse described. A unique talent that will make you versatile in the journey that lies ahead to be sure.

You will both of course need to be part of the interview process regardless. If the Venture Captain and the other Masters find you both to be unable to think on your feet verbally they will object to my recommendation. I believe that you will both do fine.

Now, head down and mingle with the rest as they arrive. I am handling all of the initial greetings so feel free to take in breakfast for now and catch up. After lunch the interviews will take place".

Absolom - the Grand Lodge
Spectrum, Ayse, Makanaky, Aria, and Singi

One by one the Pathfinders are called in to complete the Interviews. As the Interviews are granted, those Pathfinders who have completed theirs drift away. Either into the Lodge proper or back out into the city to await word of selections.

The Test:

As your name is called, you enter a meeting room and find arrayed before you at the table the Leadership of the Society here at the Grand Lodge. Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin, Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shaine, Master of Spells Aram Zey, and Master of Swords Marcos Farabellus.

Ambrus motions to the lone empty seat across the table, "Please be seated. As you may be aware, the Society has been forbidden from sending any of its members upon this Expedition. The Decemvirate finds this position untenable and has created a series of false identities for our agents to infiltrate the next ship that will leave Andoran.

However, for those agents to be successful in their infiltration, they will need to be able to handle the interview process that will be final test being utilized by the Andorans in determining who has the appropriate skill set to be sent along to establish a new colony. Thus, we have created our own set of questions that will hopefully enable our members to "practice" for the actual interview and also allow us to ascertain who the most qualified candidates truly are".

Shaine speaks, "There will be several questions. We expect honest answers in this room. Remember though, it is vital that when delivering such answers during the true interview that your affiliations are not revealed else you will not be selected for the Expedition".

The four ask a series of rapid fire questions:

1. What kind of experience do you have studying objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance?
2. What skills do you possess that would be an asset to a colony with no readily available resources?
3. Provide an example of a time when you successfully organized a diverse group of people to accomplish a task.
4. What experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates?
5. Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation.
6. Tell us how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.
7. Name a time when you identified strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems. What was the impact that your insights had?
8. In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?
9. How are you affiliated with the Pathfinder Society?
10. As you will NOT be able to answer the previous question truthfully in the interview at Almas, explain how and why you are qualified to be accepted on this Expedition for reasons that have nothing to do with your Society Affiliation.
11. Provide a time when you were able to identify a complex problem, evaluate the options, and implement a solution.
12. Finally, why do YOU want to be a part of this Expedition?

As you respond to the questions in turn, the Masters do not ask any follow ups though you can see some of them do indeed have them.

Aram closes the interview, "You have done well. This was a difficult task even for our more senior operatives. Gather here tomorrow morning at the same time as today and the final selections will be announced".

No one, not a single Member leaves that interview room feeling comfortable.

Free form RP, clearly not a problem for this group, can continue as you see fit post interview. Once all "candidates" have completed the Interview process, I will move forward to the next day.

Prologue, the first interview:
With some trepidation Aria walked into the interview room. Alphabetical order just great... She refused a seat and maintained a respectful standing position with her hands behind her back.

Quote:
What kind of experience do you have studying objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance?

Never actuly having been on an archeological dig, Aria ws forced to admit, "Uhh my expirence is mostly theoretical..." 'Great what an awful start!' she thought bitterly before taking a breath to steady her. A little more confidently she told them, "I have studied the societies chronicles of course paricuarly the first dozen. In addition I have read translations of the History of the Five Kingdoms by Uthorpe, Nations at War by Rutha Osper and Osirion: A History in Four Ages by the mysterious Sand Sage."

Quote:
What skills do you possess that would be an asset to a colony with no readily available resources?

'An easier question' she thought. Smiling faintly she replied, "Well I know how to hunt, how to set snares and how to forage for nuts, berries, tubers and so on. I'm not bad at fishing and I know how to handle a boat, including at sea. Finally I have expirence in driving off pirates and wild animals, and I believe I can handle myself if called upon to defend the colony."

Quote:
Provide an example of a time when you successfully organized a diverse group of people to accomplish a task.

Aria replies at once, ”My father is the skipper of a decent sized merchant ship, the Dawntreader. I practically grew up on that boat, anyway a few summers back we were crossing the Obari ocean when he and the first mate caught the summer auger and were terribly sick. I took charge of the ship in his stead and guided it back to the nearest friendly port where a cleric was called to drive away the disease.”

Quote:
What experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates?

A little uncertainly she replied, "Err well, I've visited Jalmeray and done some hiking in the interior, does that count? It was terribly hot during the day and cold at night."

Quote:
Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation.

Aria really had to wrack her brains on this one and had to pause for several moments. Just as the silence was starting to get awkward, an embarrassing memory surfaced and she felt her cheeks redden, ”Weeeel there was this deckhand, who went by the nickname Handsome Tom, on account of his birthmark and rotten teeth. Anyway he got rather drunk one night while we were moored just outside Kintargo. He told me he’d been watching me rand and that he was fed up of madam palm and that it was about time I felt what it was like to be with a man. I pushed him into the lake to cool off. Turned out he couldn’t swim so I had to pull him out with the boat hook. Neither of us ever spoke of it again.”

Quote:
Tell us how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.

’Where are they going with this one?’ A little uncertainly she replied, ”Uh well if you mean stuff like navigation watch duty and cleaning and maintenance chores, well I'd normally devise a rota to ensure fair distribution of tasks.”

Quote:
Name a time when you identified strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems. What was the impact that your insights had?

All this speaking was starting to tire her, she felt very much like a bug under a microscope. She coughed twice to clear her throat before explaining, ”I'm going to have to go back to the time when I was acting skipper. We needed to get to port as fast as possible, we were closer to Jalmeray than anywhere else but there was a strong northwesterly blowing us the wrong way. I had to figure out if it would be faster to follow the gale to Katapesh or spend the next week tacking our way back to Niswan. I calculated that it would indeed be faster to carry on to Katapesh with the wind at our backs, but I knew the prevailing trade wind was easterly in the summer. So I took a gamble and started tacking back to Niswan, and good thing I did too because two days later the winds changed and we would have been blown hundreds of leagues from shore if we’d gone the other way.”

Quote:
In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?

In truth she didn’t really know the first thing about that at all, or did she? Thinking of that deck hand she replied, ”Being able to get along with people you don't like. In my case knowing when to keep my mouth shut.”

Quote:
How are you affiliated with the Pathfinder Society?

The question she had been dreading. Feeling resigned about it, she replied, ”The answer you're no doubt expecting is through him.” She pointed at a painting on the wall, "My illustrious ancestor Durvin Gest." She folded her arms and set her jaw before replying, ”The actual answer is through unreasonable stubbornness and lots of hard boring work. In some respects I'd rather no one knew I was related to him because typically they get all excited and their expectations suddenly shoot way up.”

Quote:
As you will NOT be able to answer the previous question truthfully in the interview at Almas, explain how and why you are qualified to be accepted on this Expedition for reasons that have nothing to do with your Society Affiliation

Careful to get the enunciation correct she replied, "मैं प्राचीन अज़ल्ंति को पढ़ और लिख सकता हूं" Azlanti: I can read and write ancient Azlanti.

Switching back the the common tongue, she added, “Of course I won't be telling them that's due to great grandfather's wayfinder... I am also a student of the arcane, able to blend magic with swordplay. If they want to uncover any of the island's secrets, which they do - why finance such a mission otherwise - such skills are likely to prove necessary.”

”Uhhh does my earlier answer about skippering not cover this this?” replied Aria uncertainly. ’Honestly how much do these people expect me to have done?!’ she thought.

Quote:
Finally, why do YOU want to be a part of this Expedition?

Pacing now, Aria thought for a moment before replying with more than a hint of bitterness in her voice, ”Several reasons, but one that counts is nobody in my family has been able to escape great grandfather's shadow, this has been crushing us for generations. I intend to buck that trend, I want people to know me for me.”

NB I used google to translate into Hindi for the Azlanti words.

Interview:

1. What kind of experience do you have studying objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance?

"Honestly, none. I can learn, though."

2. What skills do you possess that would be an asset to a colony with no readily available resources?

"I'm a hunter and have a variety of outdoor skills useful for basic survival priorities."

3. Provide an example of a time when you successfully organized a diverse group of people to accomplish a task.

"I've participated in a lot of hunting parties, both as leader and follower, and been a guide in my homeland. Whereas guiding foreigners might not seem 'accomplishing a task', I have to say that working with unexperienced people gives the fact an increased amount of risk."

4. What experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates?

"B$+#&, please... Er... I come from a tropical land."

5. Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation.

"I've had to deal with unexperienced people who 'knew everything' several times. Most of the times, a pacific demonstration of why the one in charge is in charge suffices."

6. Tell us how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.

"a) know well who are you going to go with.
b) know well what are you going to need to carry.
c) coordinate the equipment and companions to check who's going to carry what and to what extent.
d) Decide the itinerary, if it is known. That part is not always possible when you venture into the unknown.
e) Try to foresee what unexpected things could happen (possible assaults, starving, natural disasters) and prepare contingecy plans.
f) "

7. Name a time when you identified strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems. What was the impact that your insights had?

"Everytime you assess a situation that has gone out of your control, you need to do that. Hunting and exploring involves a lot of similar situations. A man from my tribe said that no plan survives contact with the enemy. The first insight I got from this kind of situations was that he was completely correct."

8. In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?

"Having good team players, even if they don't know they are yet."

9. How are you affiliated with the Pathfinder Society?

"Blablablah, my family. Blablablah, Gregaro Voth's wayfinder. Blablablah, wanderlust. We all know the facts."

10. As you will NOT be able to answer the previous question truthfully in the interview at Almas, explain how and why you are qualified to be accepted on this Expedition for reasons that have nothing to do with your Society Affiliation.

"I've said it already, I'm an explorer and a hunter. I can also defend myself properly, and don't depend on magic to do it."

11. Provide a time when you were able to identify a complex problem, evaluate the options, and implement a solution.

"Everytime I go on an expedition."

12. Finally, why do YOU want to be a part of this Expedition?

"Because I love discovering things."

Citadel Prologue:
The young Tien is obviously more nervous in this hub of government, scanning the crowd and moving in a nearly defensive manner whenever people get as thoughtlessly close as happens in a bustling city. No one gets closer than they did in the streets, so maybe it is the walls which have altered his response? "All these people wield the power of government? How do they not get in each other's way?" he wonders aloud, emphasizing the question as though it might be a weapon or shield against them.

The Interview:

Quote:
What kind of experience do you have studying objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance?

"I studied history and archaeology at the Arcanamirum Academy for five years. It is my belief that the ancient civilizations of Golarion, Azlant in particular, understood the laws of magic more fundamentally than any current civilization. It is my intention to rediscover those secrets. Thus, I am well versed in all manor of archaeological techniques for recognizing, documenting and transporting relics."

Quote:
What skills do you possess that would be an asset to a colony with no readily available resources?

"I am a wizard. That alone makes me an asset in any situation. In addition, I am an alchemist. If the ruins provide the usual reagents found in such places, I can turn them into all manor of things. Further, I can breath water. I'm sure I do not need to elaborate on the usefulness of that trait."

Quote:
Provide an example of a time when you successfully organized a diverse group of people to accomplish a task.

"I took part in a number of group projects during my time at the Academy. For the most part I found them to be trying. The gifted often took up the slack of those unwilling or unable to do their part. Eventually, I learned that was the lesson. Sometimes we are all less adept. We must rely on the abilities of others to accomplish some tasks. Once I realized that, I was far more willing to do extra work for the benefit of others, and to allow others to work harder for me in the instances where I had insufficient skill. That is how Ayse and I were partnered. Our approaches to problems could not be more different. However, once we were willing to set aside our egos and work together we found there was no problem we could not overcome together."

Quote:
What experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates?

"None. I have only read books on the subject."

Quote:
Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation.

"My research into Azlant led me to believe that Old Mage Jatembe had made some discoveries at the end of his life that might fill in some gaps in my own theories. There was mention in a tome I had read that 'Jatembe's Way Found The Key to the Lost Empire.' I believed that to be a mistake in translation. My own translation of the original text led me to think that 'Way Found' should have been 'Wayfinder.' So, I went looking for Jatembe's compass."

"The Master of Relics at the Grand Lodge does not allow non-Pathfinders to access their museum or records. So, I went through the lengthy process of joining the Pathfinder Society. Then, once I thought I had the credentials necessary to do the research I wanted, I was still turned away. I was told that the Wayfinder had been thoroughly documented by veteran Pathfinders and that I was not going to uncover more than they had. I was directed to the library, where I could read copies of Jatembe's writings instead."

"The Librarian is likewise not a helpful person. I had requested one of Old Mage Jatembe's books, believed to be the last he wrote before he vanished. A personal journal. I was given the book in question. It was locked. The Librarian told me there was no key, and that I was not allowed to damage the locking mechanism or remove the book from the premise. I know the book has been unlocked before. There are transcriptions of it and articles written about it's unfinished nature. I had read those. I wanted to see the original text. Apparently, the Librarian considers opening it some sort of test, or, it is simply amusing to him to frustrate researchers."

"I have no skill in lockbreaking. Instead, I made a rubbing of the book's cover and the lock mechanism, and did research into Jatembe's belongings. It took some time, but eventually I figured out the answer I sought. It was obvious in retrospect. I went back to the Museum. I explained that I thought the wayfinder was a key to one of Jatembe's journals. The Master of Relics extremely reluctantly agreed to let me bring the Wayfinder to the Librarian to test my hypothesis."

"The wayfinder did open the journal, just as I suspected."

"However, the wayfinder would not come free from the journal. It became stuck in the mechanism. The Librarian and the Master of Relics were furious with each other over which of them would keep the now-joined historic artifacts. Since it was my fault, I suggested that I should try to figure out how to separate them. In their anger, they told me not to show my face at the library or the museum until it was done."

"What they did not know is that before I used the Wayfinder to unlock the journal, I applied an alchemical glue to it."

"If they had been willing to work with me, I would have been able to complete my research in a matter of days. Instead, they both decided to waste my time. So, I played them against each other. Now, I have the journal, the wayfinder, and as much time as I require to use them."

Quote:
Tell us how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.

"That would take days. I will attempt to summarize. There are seven different primary stratagems. In any given situation, the right combination of stratagems will yield success. Knowing the variables ahead of time, having the necessary resources at hand, and having enough time to plan makes it easy to predict which combination of stratagems is best. That said, I have found we are rarely afforded those luxuries. As such, the best way to prepare is an intricate, adaptive web of contingencies."

"While the nuance is complex, the results are artistic in their simplicity and execution. Imagine a landmark on the horizon. Move towards it, be prepared for as many things that might get in your way as you possibly can, adapt as you encounter them, and always keep moving in the direction of your goal."

Quote:
Name a time when you identified strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems. What was the impact that your insights had?

"I will reiterate the seven stratagems. They correspond to the seven schools of magic. In any given situation, I am weighing the risks and rewards of all of them, and choosing the best option. It is how I live my life."

"The impact of my insights is that I am now the most powerful graduate to come out of the Arcanamirim academy in a human lifetime."

Quote:
In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?

"Clear goals, a capable leader, team members who are willing to put the team's needs ahead of their own, and time."

Quote:
How are you affiliated with the Pathfinder Society?

"I am a recent member. I joined in order have access to the Society's records. I believe I can add to them significantly."

Male Elf Arcanist/Pathfinder Delver (1)

First Interview:
Quote:
What kind of experience do you have studying objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance?

Ayse looked momentarily uncomfortable. He hesitantly replies, "Beg pardon, but do you mean what sort of experience, or how much?"

All but Master Shaine give him a blank stare, and he hastily clarifies, "It's simply that calculating the amount of time I have spent studying, say, Azlant or Osirion culture, or magical versus mundane techniques, field work as opposed to laboratory research...it may take a moment to appropriately cross-reference if you'd like me to be exact."

Shaine clears his throat, and Ayse turns a quizzical gaze to the Master of Scrolls, then blinks. "Oh! Not literally. Yes, of course." Turning back to the room at large, he says simply, "Since graduating from the Arcanamirium Academy, my main field of study has been archaeology. If there are any other recruits in the Society with my level of expertise in this area, I haven't met them."

Quote:
What skills do you possess that would be an asset to a colony with no readily available resources?

"I have some experience living in the wild, and of course, I have mastered several arcane techniques that are useful in virtually any given situation."

Quote:
Provide an example of a time when you successfully organized a diverse group of people to accomplish a task.

"The most relevant example might be during the expedition I traveled with to the edge of the Mwangi Expanse, very near the Shackles. We were attempting to determine the origin of...well. I suppose that's irrelevant.

We encountered what I believe to have been a bog nixie. Two of our number were ensorcelled by its song, and attempted to throw themselves into the swamp to follow it. I identified the effect and coordinated our allies in restraining them and stopping their ears with earplugs we fashioned from the inner bark of an indigenous tree."

Quote:
What experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates?

"Depending on what you consider tropical, I've been on at least one expedition to such a place; the expedition to the Expanse I mentioned earlier, for instance. It is not my field of expertise, but I am aware of the basic steps necessary to ensure survival, if usually not comfort."

Quote:
Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation.

Ayse's eyebrow twitches slightly. "Spec...that is, Llevyn Dawnsea and I were asked to coordinate on the majority of our projects at the Arcanamirium. Our methods are...dissimilar, and we have strong opinions about the strengths of those methods. It was a complicated situation. Complexity, however, can be a strength in itself. We found that ultimately, our differing processes almost invariably led to a stronger solution."

Quote:
Tell us how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.

Ayse excitedly launches into a complex system of priority rankings and formulae for determining what current tasks require precedence. He has charts.

Quote:
Name a time when you identified strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems. What was the impact that your insights had?

"My approach to wizardry has always been unconventional. I was taught the traditional methods of spellcasting from a very young age, but I always found them somewhat limiting. My experimentation has proven fruitful, naturally; I can cast a spell I have memorized as many times as my power can support, and additionally, memorize new spells in the field with only a moment's concentration. While it is a relatively new discipline, the masters at the Arcanamirium have taken to calling those of us who use a more flexible approach arcanists."

Quote:
In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?

"A strong leader, a tactical advisor, and a diverse array of skill sets."

Quote:
How are you affiliated with the Pathfinder Society?

"I am assistant to Venture-Captain Kreighton Shaine. I joined the Society nearly a year ago in the hopes of the opportunity to closely study some of the more exotic locales Pathfinders visit in the course of their duties."

Quote:

The Master of Scrolls waves a hand dismissively, and the other interviewers roll their eyes and proceed with the next question.

Quote:
Finally, why do YOU want to be a part of this Expedition?

"Azlant was one of the strongest empires the world has ever seen, and yet we know next to nothing about the truth of it. It represents one of Golarion's greatest mysteries. I would be there as we start to solve it."
