Sophy Cassell |
Unable to answer the nobleman, Sophy notices the young soldier's eyes on her again. It is not the first time since dinner began that she noticed him looking at her quizzically. No doubt she looks ridiculous all gussied up. Although she thought the blue velvet dress was the height of fashion, perhaps it was seasons out of date in Magnimar, where he had been; no wonder Rynshinn had let her have it for nothing. Everyone in the inn must be staring at her for her foolishness. She blushes and looks down into her lap.
Brock AKA "Bones" |
Brock strained with the necktie all night long, feigning a smile every time Victor looked at him. The human had been so generous to him. But I must look ridiculous in these clothes, right? Oh, if the good ol' boys could see me now... Brock continued to fidget with his tie and scratch incessantly. The new clothes made him itchy.
At the party, when the heroes are cheered, Brock gives a slight nod. He was more concerned with the meal and it did not disappoint. He tried to control his more savage desires and use the utensils provided. On more than one occasion, however, he wiped his hands on the tablecloth. I'm sure our host has people who can get these stains out. After gorging himself, Brock grabbed a wine glass and moved closer to hear the story. "No, no idea who Old Tusk is, but I like the name!"
Mythril DM |
As the the party enjoys, or struggles to enjoy, the meal Aldern continues, "It seems there is a legend of a great boar that the farmers of the Hinterlands call 'Old Tusk', a mean old beast that many a hunter have faced, yet none have been able to kill. They say it is smarter then a man, as big as a horse, and where ever it walks it leaves a trail of dead grass. It earned the name 'Old Tusk' after it killed a hunting party of ten seasoned woodsmen, only one survived to tell the tale. They claim that though it killed nine men that day, they took one of its tusks and blinded it in one eye. I had hope to hire a guide to go on a hunt this weekend, but perhaps you fine adventures would be up to the challenge. What do you say do you want to join me on a boar hunt?"
Wren Chavali |
"Is this boar a threat to anyone or do you intend to hunt it merely for sport? I don't see a reason to try and hurt a creature for no good purpose," Wren replies to the nobleman.
Victor Montoya |
"With all due respect, good sir, I must agree with Miss Wren. I am not one for hunting an animal just for sport. To be honest, I am not one for hunting an animal period, but, if this animal is truly a danger to Sandpoint citizens or anyone else for that matter, then I will more than accept your offer."
Mythril DM |
"If the legends are to be believed, it sure sounds a like trouble maker in the farmlands. Can you imagine what a beast like that might do to livestock, crops, or gods forbid...children out playing in the meadow. Boar hunts are common sport in the country sides about Magnimar, but if you need justification I suppose that would be it. Think about it and let me know, for now we must be getting to the theater." Aldern snaps his finger and Celdis assists the ladies with thier wraps and then attends to Aldern, helping him with his coat.
The group quickly walks to the theater and are ushered up to a box containing six ornate and padded chairs. He offers the front row to the ladies and joins Brock and Victor behind them. Before the show starts, Celdis pours glasses of wine and attends to a small buffet table loaded with tasty pastries, fresh fruits, and other nibbling foods for the group to enjoy. Below the crowd slowly files in and fills up the seats, a good sign that the people of Sandpoint are not letting the attack cower them.
A gong chimes and the magical globes that illuminate the hall dim and the performs take the stage. The show is magical and each of you are soon lost in story, inspired by the beautiful music. Just before the scheduled intermission, all the actors leave the stage except, Allishanda. Aldern whispers, "This is indeed a treat, she is about to perform the Harpies Lament." Soft mournful music fills the hall, the solo is a piercing haunting melody that nearly brings tears to your eyes.

Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Sophy has thoroughly enjoyed the play so far. The view from the box is so much better than what she's used to down on the floor! From there, she probably wouldn't have seen that small performer coming onto the stage. She waits in eager anticipation for what will come next.
Wren Chavali |

Wren was captivated by the performance. She audibly gasped at the show several times. It was magnificent. Once Allishanda came onto the stage Wren could not take her eyes off of her. "Amazing," she whispered occasionally.

Wren Chavali |
"How rude," Wren hisses at Victor's yell. She was quite surprised, however, when the warrior went hurtling by her, and ungracefully pitched forward from the balcony. She looked up, and tries to focus on whatever 'goblin' Victor was shouting about on the stage.
Mythril DM |
As Victor leaps over the balcony rail, and Eponine follows everyone is startled back to the reality around them. You can all read the spoilers Victors boot catches on the velvet cloth causing his deliberate fall to the lower floor to go awry. He ends up prone on the floor knowing his back is going to ache for awhile after this. Meanwhile, Eponine gracefully lands next to him, though the 15 foot drop was a little hard on the knees.

Victor Montoya |
Will go ahead and post since my action isn't going to affect anything. I won't be able to post until tomorrow night, so this way, I won't hold anyone up.
Victor landing flat on his back, "I am all right. Everything is fine." He manages to eek out being practically breathless. Then noticing Sophy climbing over the railing. What, is she doing? His eyes grow wide of his current view and he immediately turns his head, being quite ashamed of himself of what he saw of Miss Sophy's undergarments. Shaking off these strange feelings, he returns to the task at hand by getting up as quickly as he can and moving toward the stage.
There's no coordinates, so, if you go 4 squares to the right and then 4 squares straight up, I believe that is 30'. (Obviously I am going to run diagonally but that's the best way I know how to describe it. Not real good at describing directions so bear with me.)
Wren Chavali |
I really hope this isn't part of the show, or I'll be ruined... Wren thinks as she finally catches sight of the goblin sneaking toward the actress. Ah well,
Wren rises to her feet, and directs a tiny missle of force at the goblin.

Sophy leaps up and without any explanation, clambers over the rail and scurry's down the the draped velvet the lines the hall. Moves to BG15 Wren stands and an arc of energy springs from her finger, blasting into the Goblin figure on stage. The audience gasps, and a few women scream. Victor clambers to his feat and rushes towards the stage. Move to BD 17 (it's not the same spot you described but it is 30' and it is straight down the isle towards the stairs at the edge of the stage. If you want a different spot let me know. The Goblin scrambles across the stage and slashes at the shows star. Allishanda, completely unaware of the attack takes a vicious blow and crumples to the stage floor as blood sprays everywhere.

Eppy does intense spell bonus damage apply to a force missle? Since it isn't a spell, I haven't been applying it.
This is from the PRD, and I think you copy pasted it to your Character Sheet as well :)
Force Missile (Sp): As a standard action you can unleash a force missile that automatically strikes a foe, as magic missile. The force missile deals 1d4 points of damage plus the damage from your intense spells evocation power. This is a force effect. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.

Feeling the floor beneath her feet once more with gratitude, Sophy turns to see Victor dashing up the aisle toward the stage. Her momentary relief that he suvived the fall turns into horror as she witnesses the goblin's brutal attack on the actress. "Get the sheriff!" she shouts to the audience as she races toward the stage. "Sound the alarm!"
Sophy will get to the fallen actress as quickly as she can. Double move takes her to BC 23, I believe. Wren is up.

Seeing the little creature strike, Wren knew she was correct in attacking. Unfortunately her only ability fromt his distance was another of the force missles. She fired another one.

Since your not taking any other action, you can Run all the way to her, and even side step the Goblins to avoid the AoO. Would you prefer to do that?

Yes, I'd like to, but I thought you could only Run in a straight line. If you'll rule otherwise, I'll get all the way to the actress this round.

I forgot about the straight line, but I will rule it okay this time...Wrens bolt is going to kill it anyway.

Assuming we're out of initiative for now... (if not, this will be Sophy's action next round)
Sophy drops to her knees in the pool of blood next to the fallen actress, forever ruining her precious blue velvet dress. Tears well up in her eyes as she reaches out gingerly to touch the slashed body. "Oh, no, please," she begs. "Please don't die."
Sophy casts cure light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
I'm sure it will take more than that bad roll to get her on her feet, but this is the first time Sophy is healing someone and she doesn't yet realize what she can do. Victor Montoya |
"Miss Wren, you are marvelous!" He hollers up at her as he's running onto the stage, "Miss Sophy, how is she doing!" He asks as he looks backstage to see if there are any others.

As Sophy sobs over the fallen performer, magic glides out of her and into Allishanda. A soft amber glow encases the dieing woman while ancient prophetic words dance in the Oracles subconscious only to be forgotten as the glow fades. A brief second later, Allishanda expels a breath and blinks open her eyes, "What...happened?"
Brock strolls out of the box and heads downstairs and through the lobby heading for the main floor of the auditorium.
Wren and Eponine stand alert for looking for any more attackers, but see nothing moving.
Victor ducks behind the set walls but only finds a few men dressed in black cowering behind a large piece of scenery for the second act.
The audience is stunned to silence having witnessed the attack and the quick response of the heroes.
Cyrdak Drokkus rushes out onto stage, "What happened? Is she okay? Where did that thing come from?"

A soft amber glow encases the dieing woman while ancient prophetic words dance in the Oracles subconscious only to be forgotten as the glow fades. A brief second later, Allishanda expels a breath and blinks open her eyes, "What...happened?"
Sophy's eyes fly wide open in surprise and delight. "It ... it was a goblin," she tells Allishanda. "Maybe it ran in here yesterday during the festival and hid. It sneaked up and attacked you from behind while you were singing. It ... it looked awful. But I guess the injury wasn't as bad as it looked." She doesn't sound like she truly believes her own words, but she is relieved to see the woman awake and aware again. She offers the fallen woman her shoulder to help her to her feet and rises herself to support her. "We should get you to the cathedral and have the father check you out. There was ... an awful lot of blood." Sophy realizes that the stain has soaked deeply into her own dress and deflates a little. "I'm afraid your lovely costume is ruined," she says sadly.
Victor Montoya |
Victor runs back out onto the stage and towards Sophy and the fallen woman, fear gripping his heart. "Miss Sophy, how..." He stops in midsentence as he runs up and hears Sophy speaking to the woman. An immense measure of relief pours over him, "Thank goodness your alive, mylady." Looking around for the healer that assisted Sophy in keeping her alive, but seeing no one close, Victor shrugs it off, thankful she's okay. "Madam, if I may, allow me to assist you in keeping you upright." Victor says as he puts one arm around her waist, then uses his other hand by placing it on her arm that he's closer to so as to help keep her steady, then continues. "As Miss Sophy has stated, we need to get you to Father Zantus quickly."
Turning to Cyrdak, "My good man, she was attacked by this goblin vermin. She appears to be fine but we think she should visit Father Zantus. I trust his judgement on the matter better than my own. And as far as where it came from, that is yet to be detemined. But, we will do our best to find out. You have my word."
Turning his attention back to Allishanda, "By the way, my name is Victor Montoya, it is a pleasure to meet you. You are quite the singer. It was a most beautiful lament." Victor says with a smile, hoping to help take her mind off of what just happened, if even for a moment.
Then looking to Brock, "Brock, my rock-like friend, would you be so kind as to remove the 'trash' from the stage?" He nods his head toward the dead goblin. "Or, if you prefer, I will do that if you would escort the lady to see Father Zantus." He asks.
Victor Montoya |
"I most heartily agree, Miss Eponine. I was not sure exactly what I was going to do but, thankfully, Miss Wren and her magical abilites saved me from having to figure that out." He says with a weary smile as the adrenaline from the event starts to wear off and he begins to feel a great deal of pain in his back. "umphhhh!" He mumbles as he straightens himself to try and help relieve the pain.
Wren Chavali |
"I'll accompany you, if you would like, Eppy. I've got a bit more magic left in me for the day. Mr. Foxglove, do you want to go looking around with us or are you okay up here? We want to be sure there are no other goblins running around this place."
Mythril DM |
Allishanda staggers weakly in Victor's strong arms as he leads her off the stage and out of the theater past a silent and starring crowd of onlookers. Once outside they run into Father Zantus and the Sheriff who are hustling towards the theater with a contingent of militia men and town guards. Hemlock orders the men to take up defensive posts and enters into the theater to investigate. The priest comes to Victor's side, "Here let me see her." He examines the actress and determines that Sophy's magic has mostly healed the wound but instructs Victor to take her to the church so that he can care for her over night.
Brock drags the corpse out to the rubbish bin out back of the theater, after a quick search of the body he tosses in. He does note a strange brand on the the goblins neck. It appears to be a poorly drawn head with an odd hat on top. A pouch on the goblins belt contains 6 gold coins.
Eponine and Wern search backstage and find a damaged section of the floor boards. Apparently the Goblin must have been hiding inside the small hole below and crawled out during the show to slip out onto the stage unseen by anyone. They don't see any signs that any other Goblins are about. Inside the hole the find a small pouch with 4 gold coins in it. When the sheiff arrives on the sceen they show him the hideaway, "Good work deputies, It was good you were all here tonight."
Sophy finds herself alone on the stage, staring at her blood soaked dress as Cyrdak turns and in a projected voice announces to the audience, "Friends this is indeed a dark time in Sandpoint. I have always said that the show must go on, but alas the lovely Allishanda is in need of some rest. In light of this savage attack I must cancel the show for tonight. Please exit carefully and as you leave claim a voucher so that once we are sure that our star is healthy and well we can invite you back for a command performance. But, before you go, we must take a moment to applaud our hero, Allishanda would have perished before our very eyes this day had it not been for her." Not quite aware what is happening Sophy finds herself being guided to the front of the stage by the theater owner so that all can see her, "Dear, please tell us your name."

Standing in her ruined dress and blinking into the lights in front of what seems to her to be the entire town, Sophy seems stunned. "No, no, there's been some kind of mistake," she murmurs to Cyrdak. "I'm Sophy Cassell, but the others, they killed the goblin. They're the heroes. I didn't do a thing...."
