Who are you calling "young man"? Do I need to whip out my grognard card? :)
As for AGE, I got my D&D teeth cut on the original RED BOX set so be careful when you throw around "young man" LOL ;)
Funny stuff, fellas! :D
But I must ask, a grognard card? What the heck?
And this RED BOX business. I've seen that thrown around on the boards a lot and I would guess it is some form of DnD starter kit, or something? Kinda like what Paizo is coming out with, maybe?
I never played 1st edition. I started in 2nd edition, sometime around '87ish. Still have the old DM's guide as a matter of fact.

Javell, go ahead and add 2 more HP, a role play bonus!! Desna must have favored you for being in her church, hurt but not asking for help while carrying in a more injured person.
I am curious, what weapon are you looking to get? You already have a rapier and a long bow.
The RED BOX was the first set of Basic D&D. I trimmed down version of the 1st ed rules. Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling were classes instead of races and the combat and magic rules were simpler to use. I think it was an attempt to get younger players hooked into the game, which worked in my case since I was in the third grade. 4Ed has released a starter kit with the original art of the old Basic Set. The RED box only covered the first few levels, then you had to buy the blue Expert Set, and then a green, black and gold set. I had/have them all. I got all the 1st ed stuff but as a kid they were two hard to figure out especially since I was already familiar with the Basic version. I switched to the 2nd ed. then 3rd and 3.5 and now Pathfinder. I like playing 4Ed, I have a friend who runs it occasionally but Im not investing in the books.

Shocked and surprised at Shayliss's offer, "Miss Shayliss, this is..." was all he could manage as he drops his rapier, takes his hands and places them to where her face rests between them, and gives in to her offer.
I believe the rapier is still in Shayliss' basement. ;)

Oh, good call I forgot about that. The rapier is still on the character sheet. And Victor bought an expensive suit over a new weapon. Good Form!!

Javell, if it would be IC for Victor we can say he inquired about a weapon at the Garrison before going out on patrol yesterday. The result is you can be issued a weapon that will need to be returned, your choice of a light mace or a short spear (items they have available for the militia training.)

Thanks! That'll help.

Gotcha. I thought I heard of a few other colors but didn't realize there were so many. That's pretty cool having that original stuff. I bet that's pretty interesting. Especially to look back at it and then look at today's game and to see how far it has come.
Neat stuff.

You know, Victor was going to do that but for some reason I(meaning me again) just sidetracked and didn't post it or something. I can't remember why now.
But yeah, that would be something he would do. I'll go with the short spear. That'll work.
Thanks, Mythril!

Yeah, I'll get that taken care of pronto. And....
Well, in a figurehead position like Hero of Sandpoint, it's obviously better to be dressed to kill than actually be able to kill. ;)
Your darn tootin'! This is VICTOR MONTOYA we're talking about here! Are you kiddin' me?! With an event like they were going to, only the best bay-bee! Spare no expense! ;)

Correct in taking the -4 Penalty; not that it helped the goblin
Victor draws back his bow and lets an arrow fly. It streaks a short distance, enters the goblins eye socket, exits the back of the creatures skull, and ends up stuck in the office wall with bits of brain dripping of it. For a moment the creature stands, unaware that it is dead, swinging its blade with a limp arm missing his intended target Sophy. Then if falls crumpled to the floor, blood gushing from its wounds.
Victor kills the goblin, Sophy is missed and takes NO DAMAGE
YAY, FOR ME!!! Man I was sweating bullets on that one. WHEW! *wipes brow* :)

Eponine round 2.
I don't think it will impact Victor and Sophy.
Eponine will quickly pull off her reinforced scarf, using it to tie the double door handles together, hopefully effectively securing the doorway.
What is it with your characters and scarves, markofbane? ;)
Back to the goblins, I think. It'll be interesting to see how Wren reacts to Sophy "throwing" a crossbow at her....

Funny Story: I was updating my map in MapTools after Brocks post moving him the 5'step. My 6 yr old daughter was sitting next to me and saw me pick the icon of Brock. She said, "No dont be that ugly one be someone nice." She pointed to the icon of Victor and said, "you could be him he looks nice."
"Hey Victor, stay away from my little girl!" :)

And mark, Joana's avatar for Sophy is so good, I think she might have seen it, then planned out who Sophy would be.
Meh, a little of both. I don't like to get too specific about who a character is going to be until I've gone through and picked out an avatar. Nothing is worse than being able to picture a PC exactly in your head and then not being able to find a picture to match reasonably.
Once I've picked an avatar, though, I'm quite aware of the effect that seeing that picture on every post has. I have to be able to picture that person saying whatever it is I'm typing, so some of my characters end up crankier or shyer or more or less assertive than I'd originally envisioned based on the face I look at next to what they say and do every time.

Wow. So getting wounded brings out the hater in Wren. It is going to be a long, long campaign! :)
She's a bit of an emotional wreck. She's jealous of Sophy getting all the attention, and who just hurled a crossbow at her for some unknown reason. Then when Wren complained, Victor jumped on her, defending Sophy yet again. The yelling then caused Wren to step on a big piece of glass.
It's not been the best couple of days for Wren. She'll eventually calm down, but it seems to me that an evoker should be a touch emotional! Dumah is mouch more rational than little Wrennie...

HA! Eli a moral compass, if you only knew his background!
I am loving the way Wren is reacting. I think it's great that we have a little tension in the group. It makes for a much better story as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I have seen in other groups this type of interaction lead to blows and Player vs Player mentality. I am not worried about that with this group though. Keep up the good story telling, I am having a blast DM'ing this.
I have done this fight with two other groups at the table, and this has been the best one yet. I particularly like how Eponine has used her scarf to keep the other doors closed.

Yes about the scarf! I meant to post something about it, but that was a stroke of brilliance. I never even thought about us getting caught betwen gobbies. Bravo at Eppy.
Yeah, Wren is chippy, but she's a good soul. She's not gonna start chucking rays at anyone, but she isn't gonna be meek and mild, either. With Victor's bravado, I think his reaction is going to be really funny...

I must admit, I am having a blast with this back and forth between Victor and Wren. There was an opening with her screaming at Sophy and I thought, "Oh man this is gonna be fun!"
You know, Wren will have no choice but to like Victor again, you know why....

I must say, I love the randomness that is Sophy. How none of us no what's really going on. There is always some excuse or "reason" for what happens.
I love it when you can go that angle with a pc. It doesn't happen very often, but when you can go that route, it's awesome! Really makes it quite interesting.
Kudos to our reluctant hero! :)

BTW, Mythril, I loved how you put Sophy's crossbow on the map! Oh, there it is!
Javell, I figure everyone in Sandpoint knows what a cleric or a wizard or sorcerer is, but no one in town has ever seen an oracle before. Sophy (and everyone else!) doesn't have a blueprint for what's going on with her.
Using the narrow tip of the crossguard of her saber and a fingernail from her other hand, Eppy will try to lock the door.
Ouch! Someone's going to need a manicure when we get done fighting.
