Linpul |
I'll start with when we found the I guess flare gun.
"Only one charge, but perhaps you could create an additional charge for it with alchemy."
Now for once combat starts.
----------
"Oh slag, let's get a new pile of wreckage and take a break, Tetsuda help me get rid of it."
Tetsuda Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Moving behind the beetle Linpul reaches over the beetle with her hammer.
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Since we go before it these are both against flat footed.
GM Demonmoose |
Linpul and her beetle assault the repair drone. Tetsuda bites one of the robot's three legs, crushing it into a mangled mess. While he does that, the gnome swings her hammer and creates a large dent in the construct's chest cavity.
A voice escapes from the repair drone's core garbled slightly.
Lendaro's turn. The repair drone is adjacent to Tetsuda. 13 damage to robot.
Dr. Lendaro |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Hmmpf. I'm afraid we are far worse than vandals." Dr Lendaro leans just slightly and fires over Linpul's shoulder.
pistol vs touch AC: 1d20 + 3 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 4 - 4 = 14
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
GM Demonmoose |
Dr. Lendaro's bullet crashes into the repair drone's red eye and blasts a hole through the ruby crystal. Electricity runs from its head down its metal neck into its power core repairing some of its broken metal. You hear the robot speak again, but this time it sounds more like a recording than a command line.
A distorted female voice comes from the power core.
The robot swings one of its arms at Tetsuda.
Slam beetle: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
It tries to bend over but is unable to turn its torso correctly and swings a foot above Tetsuda.
Tarphesh and Rakdon's turn. 23 damage to the robot. 2 healing to the robot.
Solaria Jesari |
Solaria raises her morningstar above her head and swings at the blobby thing, "Get away you unnatural jelly." She retreats a heavy step away once the weapon has reached the end of its wide and deadly arc.
Move Action: take out morningstar, if it wasn't out already.
Std Action: Morningstar attack 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 6
Free Action: 5ft step away
GM Demonmoose |
Solaria coughs as she swings her weapon, the polluted water still in her system and nearly flings the morningstar out of her hand.
The jelly wiggles from the air, jiggles towards the cleric and swings its smelly, rotten body at her.
slam Solaria: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 161d3 ⇒ 1
The fungus jelly manages to touch Solaria, and leaves a red mark on her leg.
Solaria and Thera's turn. The mold creature is adjacent to Solaria.
Thera Flidais |
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
I'd suggest running, but we are a full level behind the rest of the party as it is. That said, I don't see us beating this thing any time soon
Solaria Jesari |
There's being attack minded characters, and then there's rolling under 5 each go....
Solaria, lets out a cry of pain. She has never come across something like this before and tries to remember any texts or tales of such creatures, even as she swings her morningstar again. This time she gets her shield in a more defensive position to halt the creatures attacks, as she retreats again back. "You got any idea what this creature is Thera? and what do we do about it?"
Knowledge(dungeoneering) untrained to identify the jelly 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Morningstar attack 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17 damage 1d8 ⇒ 4
5ft step away
Solaria is likely to give a couple of bashes and if it doesn't look like they will down it, she will run... it's our first combat together so we'll learn a little about each others abilities a bit I guess.
GM Demonmoose |
Solaria strikes the mold with her morningstar. Fungi and mushrooms along with a stench of garbage is flung about the room.
The slime mold moves towards Solaria again and swings its body at her.
Slam Solaria: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 121d3 ⇒ 3
Solaria and Thera's turn. The ooze has taken 4 damage.
Linpul |
Linpul motions for Tetsuda to stop attacking for a moment.
"Depending on what it is saying we might destroy it or not. Dr, you seem to understand Androffan. Do we have a new pile of scrap or not?"
I have that weird feeling like it's not trying to kill us. It just feels off that it's a lone repair drone.
Solaria Jesari |
"Be strong Thera, we can do it." says the cleric as she swings once more.
Morningstar attack 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 damage 1d8 ⇒ 4
HPs: 8
Dr. Lendaro |
"Depending on what it is saying we might destroy it or not. Dr, you seem to understand Androffan. Do we have a new pile of scrap or not?"
"I believe the female voice - which you likely identified as a pleading tone, is being channeled from the past. Possibly a form of mimicry... of the last person who attempted a peaceful solution. I have a feeling that is part of its dysfunction. Destroy it."
Solaria Jesari |
"Lets see, what made all these footprints, best check if they could be the group that came down before, or other who may or ay not be friendly." Solaria gets down and looks at the ground, trying to see if these tracks are made by more than a group of several humans.
Survival 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
If Solaria think the tracks are from the previous party, she will suggest we go that way, otherwise she would suggest the other way being safer and quieter.
GM Demonmoose |
Rakdon's magic missile strikes the center plate of the robot, further enlarging the dent that Linpul made earlier.
Tarphesh is absent it seems. Will lightly play him until he returns, or...
With a roar, Tarphesh charges the robot and slashes with his greatsword.
Greatsword Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 212d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
Tarphesh makes a deep gash through the center of the robot. Electricity sparks along his blade and the core explodes.
Battle is over.
GM Demonmoose |
When you are ready to move on...
To the East, beyond the destroyed repair drone are rooms devoid of light.
The northern wall of this otherwise empty metal room is a tangle of what look to have once been strange cages of some sort. Tangled amid the metal ribs of these cages are ribs of a more organic nature-the ancient bones of some sort of alien creature. Smaller mounds of rubble lie against the opposite wall.
Linpul |
A hand towards the head of her hammer and the familiar by now word of Phos reveals the alien like creature. Linpul gasps and nods.
"Resting would be a good idea, however we should examine the mounds near the wall in case of traps or more creatures wanting to kill us."
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Solaria Jesari |
"I think we're more likely to find the others taking the south west path, come lets go Thera." Solaria says as she explains to Thera what she found.
GM Demonmoose |
Solaria and Thera move down the Southwest passage and find that it becomes colder and colder as they enter.
Eventually it becomes a cliff, overlooking a cavern.
The temperature drops noticeably in this passageway, and a rime of white frost lines the walls and floor leading into the cavern beyond. What seems to be a light layer of brown dust carpets the cave floor beyond-a body of some sort sits slumped against the eastern wall.
Climbing down the cliff is a DC 10 Climb Check.
Thera Flidais |
The fact you asked for clarification means its prolly a BAD THING, but honesty rules: when I made the post the assumption at the time was that she would take the most direct route possible, ergo, she walks through the brown dust
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Thera Flidais |
Thera cries out as she loses her grip and tumbles to the bottom. Wincing slightly she gets to her feet, and examines the bottom of the cliff where she found herself.
Slightly Disorientated, is this where the body is or am I somewhere else?
Solaria Jesari |
Solaria looks for a safe way down, she gingerly follows the route, before slowly trying to climb down to where Thera lays injured.
Climb down 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Solaria Jesari |
"Are you hurt Thera, it looks like you fell quite badly?" says Solaria concerned, as she too looks at the body on the floor.
Heal 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Solaria Jesari |
"Thera, take it easy, you're injured more than you think. Let me help. Come Desna let your travelers feel you healing light to keep their footsteps going forward to the starlight night." A warmth and golden aura surrounds the cleric, before it quickly moves outward, encompassing Thera is its glow.
Solaria's face is troubled seeing the body, "We may be in more trouble than we had thought, the man died down here, unable to get out of this hole. Obviously he was hampered by the wounds he had taken, but he was left to die down here. Find anything you want from the man, but we should make efforts to limb out of here immediately." She starts by offering Thera a helping hand to climb out, if Thera decidess to try and find her way out and upwards..
Channel 1d6 ⇒ 4
HPs: 9
Channels 1 used of 7
Dr. Lendaro |
Dr Lendaro follows Rakdon with lantern and pistol. "Alright... one more area, but we should not push ourselves too far without rest."
He takes a look at the "machines", as well.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
know(engineering): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Linpul |
Rubbing her eyes, it's been a long day so far, perhaps Mr. Baine has a spell of water breathing.
"The Dr. is correct, we should set up some kind of watch before resting though."
Peering at the coils and faces the gnome tries to make sense of it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Know (Engineering): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Thera Flidais |
Thera's face, white with pain suddenly relaxes a the healing magic takes effect. "Oh, that feels so much better...thank you so much!", she says, face now glowing with gratitude.
Thera checks the body, before accepting the offered hand to climb upward.
GM Demonmoose |
The machines do not seem to be powered by batteries. In fact, there doesn't seem to be any power in them at all.
GM Demonmoose |
Thera inspects the body and finds rust colored filaments and ribbons along the man's neck, throat and back. He seems to have been looted recently.
Solaria Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
There are also small stab wounds in his body, though they do not look lethal. Likely, this man died from starvation or dehydration after being "frozen" in his unconscious state.
When you are ready to move on...
You move on to the next room through a passageway, and find four makeshift huts inside a large cavern. Standing beside one of the huts, is a hairless, gray skinned man, wearing leather strips to hide parts of his body. His arms are crossed and there are daggers and a short sword at his side.
Looking around you see...
The ceiling of this vast chamber rises nearly thirty feet overhead.
A five-foot-wide ledge runs along the western wall, sloping down to the cave floor ten feet below. Four ramshackle huts made of what appear to be strips of metal, hides, and some sort of fibrous plant matter sit in the cave, while to the south yawns a dark pit.
To the East, barely hidden by the gloom, is a strange metal wall with a circular door about five feet off the ground.
GM Demonmoose |
The gray man watches you with cold eyes as you pass by the huts. He says nothing and makes no movements.
A smooth wall of dark gray metal bisects the cavern here, its expanse pitted and scorched but quite solid looking. A strange, circular opening pierces the wall five feet off the ground, allowing access to some sort of hallway on the other side.
Solaria Jesari |
Thera, that grey man, do you think he speaks common? He watches us, yet surely he would know of others who had passed by? He could be helpful?
She retraces her steps, "Forgive our intrusion, we mean no insult, but we are searching for a tiefling, a gnome with a beetle, a half-orc and old man that we think passed this way recently. Has such a group passed this way and do you know which way they went?" The cleric looks towards the grey man, hoping for an answer. Although, with the way the man has followed their way through this little homestead, she listens carefully to the reply, watching his every movement, so see that it would confirm the truth of his reply.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Sense Motive 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 for the reply.
