Linpul Mushiha, checking in. Let's all have some fun.
My posting schedule is a little wonky as I work nights, but I guarantee that I can post at least once a day. I work from 11pm-7am central time and hit the hay around 2pm central time. So I will see early morning posts and late at night posts.

Things you know at the start of the campaign:
Extinguished Torch: The violet flame that has burned atop Black Hill for over a century has gone out, leaving a strangely seeping pit of rubble and bubbling fluids where the town's livelihood once glowed day and night.
Missing Councilor: Ever since Councilor Khonnir Baine, one of Torch's more powerful wizards and a well-liked individual, went missing on his second expedition under Black Hill, the citizens of the nervous town have edged closer to outright panic. With their hands full handling the growing refuse and waste problems in town now that their primary disposal method is gone, the town council is eager to find out what happened to Khonnir and rescue him. They've made public a reward of 4,000 gp to any group that can recover Khonnir's body. Interested parties are invited to speak to the council at Town Hall.
Black Hill Caves: Khonnir Baine discovered the signs of unusual traffic on the banks of Weeping Pond, and shortly thereafter, the submerged tunnel that provides access to several heretofore unknown tunnels under Black Hill. His emergence from the caves with a deactivated semi-humanoid automaton sparked worries that something strange might be going on in the caverns, but when he failed to return from his second expedition a few days ago, those worries turned to outright fear. Several other adventuring parties have gone missing in the caves, and Torch finds itself running short on new volunteers.
Lady Rosa Luminnuss |
Checking in, hope you don't mine Rosa taking the leed, once every ones meet happy to move things along. The contract is nothing evil, just an agreement to share loot.
Other than that it's a group thing, rosa is not aiming to be a leader.
So saying that let's go crush teams blue and green under our steel boots.
GM Demonmoose |
Also, here are rumors each of you has heard:
Crowfeather Palace. I've been drinking only rainwater and I've not had a headache yet!
of the ground around town and attacking people!
It's up to you whether you share them, or care.

Well we have a nice team there gays, most of all with the good Doc Lendaro, a Cryptic cool.
And all killers, I say we we wait just out of town for the others to find our guy, then jump them when they come back.hehe
sorry did not mean that.
Tarphesh |
Well, he's the adoptive father for both Linpul and Tarphesh so both really want to get him out I think.
Must add though that while Tarphesh is neutral he leans more towards chaotic than towards lawful. As far as good and evil goes it fully depends on who you are.
Lady Rosa Luminnuss |
O Rosa agrees, a Bully, yes 100%, but Scumbag? no no no, Tarphesh has his doorman's point of view, but when it comes to Taverns, O she never courses trouble and pays top coin for the best food and Drink, owners like her, she even tips the doormen when some moron picks a fight with her and has to be ejected. Yes you may not like her and what she stands for, but she has class.
Thing is, how much do you want daddy back?, will you put your pride to one side to get him back. Rosa will help, she's ruthless, dedicated, matriculates, professional and by the looks of the gathering in the town that about all will be needed. 4 groups already set out, none came back. The last thing you need is a bunch of amateurs covering your back. Rosa is a team player, she knows small unit tactics and just how much diffidence a team that can work as a whole makes over a bunch amateurs doing the 1st thing that comes to mind.
In other words, she's a evil, cold, pro.

Cool GM works for me. Ok Finally got to see
https://iron-gods-pbp-team-red.obsidianportal.com
and the back ground, if its ok with every one I would like to make some small cosmetic changes to Rosa so she fits in.
1: Her Faith, going to make that "The Hells" over a god from another world. If there are such things a real hells, Demons and devils on this work then it should work. If not could be VR hells etc.
2: Making her great sword Stainless steel not cold Iron. Its silver not black. Seems to work better in feel.
3: Her Heavy crossbow it air powered, Pump action, so a Heavy air gun, in all other ways it works just as a Heavy crossbow same to hit, DMG, reload range, ROF the lot. Again just feels more this world.
if thats ok with GM and you guys how do;s that sound.
NOTE: If Rosa is to much I will tone her down no worry's. I want her to fit in to the group. I just made her larger than life, if you need her to be more life than larger let me no and ill alter her.
Linpul |
A heavy crossbow should be fine the way it is, but there's nothing air powered in the tech guide. It's all lasers and the one weird semi lightsaber that is actually just a bastard sword. Very cyberpunky IMO. So everybody just uses heavy crossbows until they can get the laser stuff. Very gamma worldy. Plus there are a few spells you can use, protection from radiation, detect radiation etc. The way I've been seeing Rosa is a pro but doesn't know her way around Numeria yet.

#1 is fine. Your faith "the Hells" only applies to the Devil pantheon in the astral hell plane/s, including Asmodeus, if you don't want to worship only Asmodeus. Demon Lords and Daemons don't seem to care about you.
#2 You can make it stainless if you want. Neither one is particularly useful against tech. Its all flavor.
#3 Regular heavy crossbow is also fine. I don't think you've found any technological crossbows yet.

Right. Since Rosa is not a local to Numeria, she shouldn't be knowledgeable about technology yet or have access to tools, etc. Gotta find or buy it first.

Arr so still Golarion, was a bit confused reading the other site.
Yep she's new to Numeria so will be doing catch up on a lot of things.
But her pro comment was about combat, she has been in a lot of that, a hell of a lot. She as a foot trooper in a world of hells wars for years, she dos not wish to go back. She dies that's where she is headed.
I really think I will make her LN/Le, so she's not so bad and fits the group better. I don't want her alienated form the get go, or the ride will be full of mistrust, if everyone is ok with that. Airgun and H cross bow, dropped the cross bow for sling, with a change of Domain, to fit her new LN aliment, tricky is gone and Magic taken its place. I am going to play her less evil. Hells is good, fits with the new law way she works, I have an idea about her ranged thing. Stainless seems to fit better more lawful don't know why.
she seems more fun now and less a pain for you guys to get along with.

Rakdon, Linguistics is an int based skill and use that to learn Androffan (it's the native language of the androids and robots)instead. Take the favored class for a skill point and then take the other one of craft (mechanics) or spellcraft. Drop knowledge nature for the other of spellcraft or mechanics. If you aim for the technologist feat and you have craft (mechanics) and knowledge engineering you can steer into the craft technological item feats. There are three feats and I don't know why, but one lets you build gadgets like camcorders, e-tools etc, one lets you build weapons and armor like laser rifles and force field shields, the other lets you build cybernetic implants.
Rakdon Tripus |
I just hope our wizard took a few ranks in craft (mechanics) and linguistics to speak Androffan. I'll make a post in game when I get a break between classes.
Me, I never go for craft skills, it takes forever to craft stuff. And no I can't speak Androffan.

Ok, I am not in this game, and really don't think that I would even enjoy this particular AP (not the DM or the players of which I have no opinion), as the sound of it is just not my style. Also, I usually don't lurk or hijack games, but I felt I needed to make an announcement.
I just noticed a post show up on the recent posts list on the side of my campaign tab and I have to say that GM DemonMoose, you get my vote for the best DM name I have seen on the boards yet. Two thumbs up.

I think I want Linpul to eventually get one of those crazy cyber tattoos, that or cover Tetsuda's shell in them. A rhinoceros beetle with effectively LED tattoos in Tian would look awesome. Plus it basically turns him into a walking torch when we need the light.

Tarphesh still only trusts Rosa as far as he can throw her at this point in time, being LN doesn't change that. In time it will probably change but for now that's what it is.
Well in that case Ill keep her LE But Tarphesh you can trust Rosa, you can trust her to be,
Lawful evil
LE is the realm of the individual who knows what they want and will manipulate the system (legal, cultural, and so forth) to achieve those ends, no matter the consequence. This can be for personal gain (for example, the traditional evil vizier who seeks to claim the kingdom for himself) or to better society at all costs - the "I know what's best for everyone else"-attitude without any of the compassionate limits to action found in lawful good (an excellent example is Cardinal Richelieu of Three Musketeers fame).
"This is not Hollywood or some Saturday afternoon kids TV show, in the real world Tom, not only do the Bad guys often win, they HAVE to be bad guys TO win"
Maniacal laugh, Maniacal laugh, Maniacal laugh...

Tarphesh |
Somehow I think Tarphesh will be slowly pushed towards Chaotic Neutral through all this.
The main reason he does not trust her is because her ideals are almost the exact opposite of his (the more I think of it the more I think he's selectively Chaotic Good). He for one believes the system should serve the people (all the people) and not the other way around and while he does do most things for himself that also means he'll take care of those he cares about.
EDIT: Slight error on my end, Init should be +3 and not +2 due to my class ability. Doesn't change my place in the order though.
Lady Rosa Luminnuss |
I'm putting this here so it dos not clog up the Game thread.
I thought I had copyed that part into my description of action but in fact I had cut it.
Full text.
Hand of the Acolyte (Su): You can cause your melee weapon to fly from your grasp and strike a foe before instantly returning. As a standard action, you can make a single attack using a melee weapon at a range of 30 feet. This attack is treated as a ranged attack with a thrown weapon, except that you add your Wisdom modifier to the attack roll instead of your Dexterity modifier (damage still relies on Strength). This ability cannot be used to perform a combat maneuver. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Dr. Lendaro |
Ahh I forgot to dot discussion...
I happen to speak Androffan.
As far as Lady Rosa's alignment... unless it goes too far (which he immediately assumes will not be a problem due to her "self-discipline concerns") is unimportant to him. He is used to parsing through people's words for the actual facts. Her dramatics are tossed aside the same way a tangential anecdote would be.
Dr. Lendaro |
I forgot... my ID roll should get a +2 with my trait. 20 total.
Stargazer (Campaign): You gain a +2 trait bonus on Knowledge checks to identify alien monsters’ abilities and weaknesses. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (geography) checks, and this skill is a class skill for you. You are treated as if you possessed the Technologist feat for the purposes of resolving checks to identify an alien creature using a Knowledge skill and for all Knowledge (geography) checks.
The DC to correctly identify and understand an unknown technological object is equal to the object’s Craft DC. An object with a Craft DC of 15
or less can be automatically identified and understood by someone trained in Knowledge (engineering) who also has the Technologist feat.
(So although I don't yet understand this technology, I can determine what they can do and if it has vulnerabilities from looking at it structurally.)

Okay, okay. Still, its a nice trick. Haven't seen that ability before.

Yep I changes her Domains so I could do away with H Cross bow, Don't know what it is about Cross bows just don't like em. Bows seem more elegant and Guns seem more tech. So by having HotA she gets a nice hard hitting range attack 6/day + her Fire ball 30' 6/day and a simple sling for other ranges. That cuts the need for a cross bow [Yuk].
:)
GM Demonmoose |
For future combat, we'll do as Aurusk, of Green Team, suggested. Characters will be split up before and after the enemy turn and happen as soon as it is posted. Also, I will skip you after a certain amount of time (probably some amount of hours), making any simple rolls, like saves as necessary. You may then jump in at any point so long as it is the same round.
This is to help speed up your group and get you to the meat of the campaign. Hope that sounds good.
Linpul |
That's a pretty simple system to work with. I am in a Wrath of the Righteous game where the gm has a pretty sweet setup. It's under my alias Tallina Kapok if you want to check it out. Also it's the weekend so people are usually busy with family or other issues.
GM Demonmoose |
Fun and interesting things about the Teams so far…
Team Blue had a discussion about sandwiches. Blue also has a strong pro-tech, anti-tech split. They are low on Wisdom. Most high stats are in Intelligence.
Team Red beat up some townsfolk. Red seems to be mostly pro-technology. Red also seems most likely to attack each other. They are low on Charisma. Most high stats are in Intelligence.
Team Green hit the repair drone the most. Team Green is all from Numeria, if not Torch. They are low on Wisdom. Most high stats are in Charisma.
Linpul |
I think that our group is the most efficient combat wise but the slowest to post. As a note, I have no int modifier and have the highest mechanics check in the group making me feel like Linpul might be a mechanical savant type.
GM_Captain_Wombat |
Well the "technology doubles every seven years" is not 100%, the main limiting factor with the accumulative growth of technology historicity has been
1: Discovery [no one yet has worked out how to do it]
This is the big one, "know new know how no new Know do" as they say.
But the next is
2: Dissemination of know how. [How you told any one how to do this yet?]
Ok you found out how to do something cool with Tech, but a number of things can happen to stop the know how getting into a bigger population.
A: "ITS A SECRET THAT GIVE US, Money/Power/Gods grace/lots of sex" Only a few know how to do it and they ant telling see B
B: "BOOM!/VIKINS.." There was only the guys who knew the tech and now there all dead!, Books lost, See C
C: NOT WILE I'M KING/POPE! The know how is a danger to the powers that be, and its out law'ed on pain of a pointy spike or labelled Heretic.
But the Know how moves and also the population grows with better know how. Humans started to shape there Environment with "know how" Talking, Fire, Clothing, cooking on and on.. as we have more humans looking into more know how this speed of change has well... Speeded up. If we have make a super smart AI, then see that 7 years go out the space ship window.
:)
GM Demonmoose |
There are three "limiting factors" in Numeria that prevent the growth of technology.
One is the Technic League, that tries to keep all technology to itself.
The second is the various barbarian tribes that try to bury it because bad stuff happens when people use it.
The third is the technology is so old, thousands of years, that it breaks apart or glitches out.
Linpul |
Basically it boils down to luck and money. Yes the people of Torch and Numeria know how to use tech, but replicating it is almost impossible as it costs an incredible amount of money and is impractical due to the whole if you don't use tech within a month there is a chance it explodes or just shuts down.
