Grammanar Gun-Runner |
Grammanar makes a vital strike at the crane, then reloads his hackbut.
Vital Strike Deadly Aim Amp Rage PB: 1d20 + 18 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 18 - 3 + 1 = 26
Damage: 4d12 + 9 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (12, 10, 7, 9) + 9 + 1 + 6 = 54

Amplified Rage giving an additional +16 however does, you basically go from 70 to 94, then Celestial Totem pretty much ensures you get healed back before it becomes an issue (assuming any healing).

Okay, adjusting. The crane doesn't strike at Yvell, as it would much rather drop unconscious Muga from a height.
As the crane strikes at Muga with its boom, it grabs him in its claw, and swings his unconscious form above the pit (30 ft).
Grammanar strikes the boom and severs some of its important cords, making the construct shake and nearly drop Muga.
46 crane
Muga is awake from Yvell's rage, passing Valtyra.
Phylla murmurs in her head near anxiously, "What do I do? What do I do? It's always some mindless metal-thing. My punches do nothing! I must leave the work to my servants again."
A blessing of nobility surrounds Yvell (+2 attack rolls).
The crane drops Muga from a height of 30 feet to the pit below. After it swings at the group of adventurers again, trying to pick up another of the heroes. It strikes Yvell, grabs him with its claw and carries him over the pit.

Grammanar Gun-Runner |
"Yes, and?" Grammanar asks, aiming and shooting again.

Perdix's snowball does minimal damage against its hardened plating, while Grammanar's shot does slightly better and causes the machine to stop moving. As it de-powers, the claw loosens and drops Yvell down to fall onto Muga in the pit.
Muga can make some kind of grab check to catch Yvell, or take nonlethal damage.
Battle is over.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell's song lingers even were he to drop his song and thanks Muga, " No I am not stupid, climb up and get yourself healed before I make you, Valtyra ia above and will tend to your wounds as well as the rest. It is a good thing we allowed Grammanar to focus on the crane as he did. "
Yvell tested the rope for stability before offering the rope. His own wounds seemed to quickly heal as he waited.
Yvell Endymion |
Having the leeway to search around, Yvell does so in the pit.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Yvell climbs up soon after as they await healing from Valtyra. In the meantime he inspects the upper floor the same with Grammanar.

" Phylla, though you have little in strength, it is possible to empower your strikes with strength to pierce through. If not there are other such magicks that can bend Automatons to your will. "
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell eyes go wide somewhat, the material they had found was quite lucrative to say the least. " Glaucite, Adamantine. I'm aware the robotic creatures in this tower had to be forged from something. I did not realize the material was from here. These could be very well utilized to create better weapons. Though Glaucite would need the Torch to be smelted. We should take what little we can, just in case. "
Yvell Endymion |
The half-elf makes a surprised expression, something at odds with his facial muscles as evidenced by the awkward positioning. " Ahh, sometimes I forget you were recently brought to this expedition. You full know of the durability and sharpness of Adamantine. Glaucite is the material many of the ruins and remains of the vessels our group before has ventured though. Tougher than even Adamantine. Though much more valuable and rare. "
Grammanar Gun-Runner |
"Right," Grammanar adds, "Grab the shiny rocks, got it. Let's keep moving?"
And then, as an afterthought, "Maybe next time, we should just build a battering ram and tip the tower over? Would've saved us a lot of effort, although now that we know those fire slaves are out safely, we could probably do it now."
Yvell Endymion |
" That would be folly, Furkas went below the first time he met our group, meaning with the stairs hidden in his room from before that there lies an underground. Remember we came here for information, materials and Casandelee. The resulting collapse would ruin all of that... not to mention this tower is quite sturdy. "
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell placed a hand on Grammanar's shoulder, " It is alright, we all make such decisions. This tower has an amalgamation of a mad wizard's obsession. Some of which are terrible undead and other machinations of his choosing. Otherworldly beings forced to serve much like Shahasho. We have time to explore and learn more. But, you must remain focused. "
Yvell Endymion |
I'll just roll for it. Technically the Life bond would trade 5 HP every so much.
Channel: 7d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 6, 4, 1, 3) = 22
That plus 12
Yvell Endymion |
" Yes, Yes you did... you should stop that. " Yvell sighed, " It's time to continue, there were doors north of here. "
Positioning himself as such Yvell checked the door before opening it and looking inside. Door to Yvell's right

The walls of this laboratory are painted bright white. A partially disassembled mechanical man spreads across an otherwise clean desk. The automaton's lower half is intact, b u t its arms are disconnected from its torso and its torso a n d head are both spread out in their component parts. The single eye in the middle of the creature's face is dim. Hatches lead out of this room to the west and southeast.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell ponders the idea of what one would need to do to accomplish programming such a being for a different purpose. Perhaps after their job here was done? Moving into the room his eye lingered on the man before it went to the next door. He checked the door and proceeded to open it as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

The upper halves of eight metal creatures hang from hooks in the ceiling of this narrow room, each trailing wires from its torso like mechanical viscera.
There appears to be a drum hanging from the southernmost hook.
Muga feels resistance as his blade cuts through the robot, slightly less than with the adamantine crane.
Yvell Endymion |
" Hrmph, Doesnt seem to be trapped, perhaps there is something of value in the drum there. "
Yvell ventures in to inspect the drum.
GM Demonmoose |
As Yvell enters the room, the robot parts begin to flail rapidly, striking at the paladin skald. One of the severed robot arms grabs his leg and pulls him to the ground. On the far end, the drum makes a shrill beating noise and Yvell feels bruises form where he fell.
Flailing parts: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 352d6 + 13 ⇒ (3, 4) + 13 = 20
Trip: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Drum: 1d6 ⇒ 2 nonlethal
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell groans as he stands up, the flailing parts were much a surprise to him considering his keen sight but it was no big issue. " Traps, everywhere... How annoying. "
He moves out of the room and prods at a bruise, " I suppose it is time we went above again. There was nothing inside that room but a well placed trap. "
Im gunna assume that as a 29 saw nothing
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell, aims his arm-mounted Autograpnel and fires it at the drum to draw it back from the safety of the other room.
