Yvell Endymion |
" You and I clearly Muga, With Perdix. Either Him or Grammanar at that point should be able to ascertain from both inside and out if the Door could be opened an alternative way. If Trouble arises our prowess is enough to easily buy the time to reorganize and regroup such that our success is guaranteed. "
Yvell Endymion |
Mr. Burns level of excellent there? Also Did Perdix give Yvell a scroll? The spell is on his spell list.
The side of the half-elf's mouth twitched momentarily as if going to turn upwards. " Indeed. While I can utilize the scrolls Perdix has currently danger is a very real concept to keep in mind, we are resilient in one way or the other comparatively to the rest so the chances are more stable nothing goes amiss. "
Perdix the Scholar |
Ok, adjusted his spell list a bit. If you want to try and use the scroll, that is OK with me. I do have the gloves of reconnaissance so I can see my target. The scroll has 2 spells on it in case.
When we get to the tower Perdix will use his gloves to get a look beyond the door to make sure the coast is clear and determine a good landing zone of the D-door. He will convey the location of a clear area to Yvell.
GM Demonmoose |
Perdix sees, then when there is no sign of visible danger, the first party enters. Someone turns a wheel near the entrance on the other side, allowing the rest of the party entrance into the tower.
This grand hall is ten feet wide and twenty-five feet long. A large metal door (the door you entered from) stands at the west end of this entry, while three other metal doors stand in the walls at the opposite end. The middle door is slightly smaller than the others, and a metal wheel is mounted in the center of each door.
Grammanar doesn't see any electronic locks or traps inside the tower.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell gives an agreeing nod, " My thoughts exactly, Perdix. This place could have all manner of traps or worse, and though there has not been many a situation to warrant it, it does not mean there will not be. This is a caster's tower after all. I didnt see any traps or such on the way inside so I suppose its time to assume the Dwarven Door Game. Form up behind me we are taking the right door. And as a reminder, you'll want spells on you now rather than later. "
With that he placed the scroll within a pouch, holding his blade aloft before going to the rightmost door from their position and turning the metal wheel to open it.
Muga |
"Except the speedy uppy thing. That doesn't last very long."
Muga was at Yvell's side, but, as usually, wasn't at any sort of attention and didn't have his weapon drawn.

This wedge-shaped room contains several storage racks and crates, as well as a sickly odor. A door leads to the north and a large alcove to the southwest contains a wrought iron spiral staircase, leading up.
A pair of humanoid robots holding large shields and warhammers suddenly moves upon seeing you open the door to the room.

3. Everyone
Perdix has an action before the robots. Then everyone's turn.
GM Demonmoose |
The robots charge forward, blocking entrance into the room, and swing their warhammers at Yvell. The blows seem to be focused on not dealing lasting pain, rather knocking the paladin skald unconscious.

Muga |
"Wooh, wooh, go Yvell go, you can do it!" Muga decides to hold an impromptu cheerleading session, given his inability to squeeze into melee, and his quick assumption that his bow would do little to nothing against these robots.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell is bombarded by two blows, though his reflexes were dull, his training allowed him to deflect the first only to have the second crash into his side and reverberate through. The oddity of the intent from the Robots was notable, but it did not lessen the danger or these strikes. Pulling himself into a proper stance, Yvell shouted to his allies, " Focus on the on plugging the door, once we drop it I'll push forward to the other. "
A Slight bead of sweat coming from Muga's "Encouragement"
The blade whirred as he sought to slash against the metal skin of the creatures.

Muga slashes the robotic creature with several hacks of his nodachi. Metal pieces of its body fall of including its arm and its bronzed under-metal interior.
Phylla wraps a tendril around Juxt-servant, infusing her with nobility again(+2 to Attack). She sends to everyone, "I will try to be less reserving of my powers. Perhaps I will feel more useful in battle this way."

Juxt, Perdix, Valtyra's turn.

Passing Valtyra.
Juxt only uses adamantine now, right?
Two of Juxt's arrows pierce the robot's flesh, stabbing through the metal plating where its leg meets its pelvic region. Electricity arcs along its body, shifting itself to move with the injury.

Muga watches as the hammer comes down on Yvell, "You know, it's a bit odd these guys are trying to be nice considering the lethality of the guardians outside. Here, now that you've survived our rock destroying sound cannons, let us lightly beat you to sleep."

Yvell Endymion |
Yvell openly groans at the wordplay Muga displays as the combat turns on another strike slamming into his shoulder with an odd snapping sound. The second parried. The burst however was not lethal. Where they attempting to detain him? His reaction speed was just into to dodge the two blasts that he could not see but rather felt.
Pulling back his weapon he spoke, " Muga, I mist say your wordplay palls in comparison to your swordpla; You should stick to that which you are...adequate at. "
His blade whirring once more to cut into the robot's shield.

Muga severs the riot suppressor's main hand, then follows up but cutting one of its legs. The robot flails, and slams to the ground. As it tries to right itself, Yvell slices through the creature's steel-glass shield and makes a laceration through its chest. Its eye-lights darken and the robot stops moving.
Battle is over.
You may Level up to Level 8 after a long rest.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell pulls back his blade shaking the effect of the damage off himself somewhat woozy from the slighting pain. The weapon still gave the loud hummm as he inspected the wreck that was the enemy.
" Well then, that's settled. It isnt surprising that we'd meet such automatons after the guards he had placed on the outskirts, but why set them to preserve the intruders' lives? That does not bode well. "
He gives the room a glance over.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Woot next level.... hrmmm.. such a level is a big change for the group.. do we want to regroup and come back in or press on? Im trying to figure out something.
Yvell Endymion |
But I almost feel like this was supposed to happen earlier and unlike before... we actually gain alot from said level up. Especially considering Furkas was said to be powerful and likely has more powerful robots inside.
Yvell Endymion |
HEY! Im a bard :P. Its not you however and It kinda is, 8th we gain a stat point, more HP, spells go up, our Healer gets 4th level spells and channel dice, Inquisitor gets Second Judgement, Muga gets his second Order ability. Stuff like that. I will say in general.. we likely wont get our butts kicked but someone could die because of going forth, Yvell himself doesnt gain much either... save more Cha. It doesnt hurt that we also figured out we can get in and open the door with one casting of Dim door.
Yvell nods to Perdix, " How many of those spells have you prepared..? It might be better to preserve them for other fights if you have little. "
Yvell Endymion |
" Yes, that is the spells I was mentioning. Though its understandable when it comes to creatures tough as these constructs or unknown beasts. "
Yvell Endymion |
*Shrug* Yvell was made to last long periods. Its less Im worried about that if everyone took my bonuses and stuff and more when we dont.. I personally dont care. Yvell is checking the room then moving on regardless. I just wanted to make sure there is no regrets later on
Muga |
We could just stop when we're out of hastes. We know well that that spell nearly doubles our combat effectiveness in these tight quarters.
"Mmm... Well, if I'm only adequate at swordplay, maybe you should have Grammar melee at your side, while I shoot stuff." Muga tilts his head slightly, raising an eyebrow and tapping his hilt against the bow on his back.
Beat.
"Pfftt.. Hah, yeah, like I'd do that. I can't remember the last time I shot an arrow. Lead on, oh fearless leader!" Muga gives Yvell a forward directed wave.
Yvell Endymion |
Since Grammanars Perception and mine of 31 didnt catch anything (never got back on that so I assume a OK) We will continue on.
Yvell gives Muga a long stare before cracking the slightest of smirks, " Muga, that was a month ago. There doesnt seem to be anything of use in here either. Let us explore the northern door, the smaller of the two doors before the next, then exploring the next floor that staircase seems to lead. Likely the double door leads to more than what we need deal with at the moment. "
Yvell moves to the said door and opens it (North)
GM Demonmoose |
Looking at the western door, Grammanar and Yvell realize that it seems to be trapped in such a subtle way. There are slight burn marks along the edges and gears that seem to make the door move in a slightly different way than expected.
Entering the northern door, the party sees:
Schematics of incredible complexity, each mounted in an elaborate wooden frame, decorate the stone walls of this curving hallway. The schematics feature images of metal monsters, strange vehicles, and technological wonders. The hall curves north at the eastern end, rising to the upper floor in a staircase.
