Spell Kenning (Su)

At 5th level, a skald is learned in the magic of other spellcasters, and can use his own magic to duplicate those classes' spells. Once per day, a skald can cast any spell on the bard, cleric, or sorcerer/wizard spell list as if it were one of his skald spells known, expending a skald spell slot of the same spell level to cast the desired spell. Casting a spell with spell kenning always has a minimum casting time of 1 full round, regardless of the casting time of the spell.

At 11th level, a skald can use this ability twice per day. At 17th level, he can use this ability three times per day.

Alternatively, I wouldn't mind trading out Challenge for Weapon Training, if you think that's a fair trade, to reduce bookkeeping, as I technically only need Weapon Training to use the WMH stuff.

I'm pretty darn short on feats to throw around, especially if I want to have any left over to take advantage of the new stuff.

As far as my order/challenge interaction, I have literally never once gotten a bonus from it. So I don't think that'll matter.

I think the overall shift will be I'll be giving up some of my huge damage in order to get more interesting and flexible abilities. Which, considering I'm getting a leeetle bored of my current combat routine, is a choice I'm willing to make. :P


Muga, you may change your character when you feel like it. It's better than being bored of your combat choices.

You can get weapon trainings with 3 levels since Weapons Master archetype gets it more quickly (and the WMH specifically says that Weapon Masters still get the goodies).

Yeah it counts for that.. though you need feats to get it (AWT) before 7th or 9th level.

Either way I'm all for any sudden changes that may occur, it is a story afterall. Surprises are fun. As far as more interesting and flexible... I still dont think Fighter is quite there. It does have options now at least.

Can Perdix craft scrolls? I was thinking about getting some of the +4 Stat and other minute per level buff scrolls on hand for when we're about to kick in doors.

And Next downtime, I'd go for a Sash of the War Champion to help bandage my poor will save and Gloves of Dueling for the tasty tasty hit and damage.

Nothing in particular but if you were up for it, sure. Basically in one of those longer posts you sometimes see me do Yvell was going to note the difference in Muga's spring-muscles, slight variations in fighting style.. things like that.

Alright, well, here's the thing. I'd like to keep the change mostly out of character, until I've got the crunch to back up the fluff of this being mostly a simple increase in skill instead of a dex/str swap. In one level, I'm going to get back the majority of the damage I traded away by doing that, so I can pretend he's still roughly the same strength (and he's still plenty strong), and it's just that he's gotten faster and more skilled through our general violent shenaniganity.

My carrying capacity and climb are a bit harder to explain away, but when's the last time either of those came up? :P

Alright then, fair enough, though it is a sizable difference. I curious about the Damage portion but it is your character. Considering Yvell suddenly gained the ability to broaden his spellcasting horizon.

Well, with power attack, I do precisely 1 more damage than I used to. :P

I'm fully expecting by the end of next level and gear upgrades to be having a sizeable chunk of my damage back. Though I'll never be able to match Challenge damage, I so frequently don't use that because I always think a harder fight might be around the corner.

Namely- Weapon Training 2 + Gloves of Dueling + Advanced Weapon Training double your damage bonus from weapon training being +4 to hit +8 to damage.

Ah yes the one that says as long as you have Dex to hit and str to damage you get a bonus to damage. Though the first is more to simply leveling up to Bab 8. We just need to get you those gloves and whatnot.

As for challenge, yeah that is more based on your ability to gauge fights... or you can do like Yvell and just use it when you feel the group benefits, usually from something big and evil.

Muga as a character is harder to think around, because he selectively uses things, but doesnt overall. So I suppose Fighter is better so he can choose not to accept things like Haste and whatnot if he wants. The extra feats dont hurt either. Skillpoints suck though.
