Since the undead thingy is (obligingly) standing still, Čemifobbar will come in and get opposite it from Nyssa to Flank it. Then go into bloodrage of course and hit it with his +1 Falchion.

Full damage to Incorporeal creatures too, if that matters, because of his Ghost Touch bloodline ability.
I am also assuming that because of the distance, walls, and debris, he's not able to get +2 from Alexis' bard song thingy.

Well it is GM's decision, but you only have to hear me and be an ally to get the effect. you are only 40 feet away or so. I would think you get the +2 bonus

Iophiel, meanwhile, moves to engage the remaining armored-skeleton that is threatening Kharamell.

That was 5 damage to Valt. 4 negative energy damage and 8 con drain to Nyssa.

Cem can hear Alexis.

You can't see the skull ghost, but you kind of know where it is.

Tessara's blunt arrows crack bone and punch through rotten armor, knocking the skeleton to stillness.

Alexis' scorching rays pierce through the spot where the ghost is. You see the air shimmer and move as something moves even faster to dodge the fire.

Cem's falchion digs into the dark ghost dealing damage to the undead creature. It wails. Nyssa's borrowed axe bolstered my bardic magic and her fire strike through the creature.

Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Valt's glitterdust covers the small orb revealing a will'o'wisp.
Iophiel swings at the wisp (skeleton is dead) and slices through empty air.

Glad to hear I can make use of the Bard Song. I'd added my numbers based on not being able to hear it, if that makes any difference (+2 extra damage).

"It's actually a ghost this time!" Kraig moves around Iophiel and swipes at the sparkly ghost. "Tell me ghost, were you too once a paladin?"

Krai's fist misses the small creature as it darts away past Alexis in the hallway. It tries to shock her with airy tendrils.

The wraith spins and reaches for Cemifobbar, its hand passing through the dhampir's armor and flesh.

Perfect timing for a critical hit! That 18-20 critical range is why I like the Falchion! With his Ghost Strike bloodrage ability that should be a total of 48 HP damage to that nasty undead thingy!

@GM Demonmoose: does the Dhampir Negative Energy Affinity not protect Čemifobbar against the negative energy damage? That 5 CON drain is painful! I guess the Resist Energy Drain of Dhampirs is not relevant against attribute drains. Just want to be sure I understand the mechanics properly.


Ah, Cemifobbar and Nyssa can make a Fort Save to resist the con drain. Forgot.

Tessara's arrows pierce through the incorporeal being, magic allowing them to damage the creature, if somewhat reduced.

Alexis fires a scorching ray from the wand, but the small creature dodges out of the way.

Kharamell fires the laser rifle and strikes the ceiling.

Cemifobbar slashes into the dark human, magical energies of his bloodrager quality allowing his weapon to not only damage but severely damage the undead.

Valt leans against the wall and sends his eidolon to harry the wisp. The eidolon's sword misses the small, quick creature.

"Should we chase it?" he says.

The wisp electrocutes Kraig before continuing to fly out of the ship.

Nyssa sinks to a knee, exhausted. There are dark circles under her eyes, and a lock of hair over her right eye has gone white all at once.

"Normally I'd say yes. But honestly, I don't think I'm up far any more fighting."

Although I dislike giving up more time, I must agree, we will need some assistance to recover from it, plus I feel really weird here, sorry about it.

I hope Dinvaya can help us with that. Good think we did not killed her.

When the wisp leaves, the malevolent energies inside the building disappear. The building turns into a regular Numerian ruin.

Nyssa and Cemifobbar find:

-a timeworn yellow gun with no slot for bullets (9 charges)
-a red technological suit of light armor
-a small metal square with a small slot
-a strange-looking circlet

Kraig takes a last hopeless swipe at the creature. "Damn you, you thing. It's getting away!!! Somebody do something!"

Kraig returns angrily to the ship. "What was that? I didn't think ghosts were real. Nyssa, when did you have time to do this?" He kneels down with Nyssa and brushes the white hair from her face.

Kraig looks fine, at least outwardly. He always looks fine. It's really hard to tell beyond the hair, truth be told.

"It felt like that... That Thing was taking years from my life." Nyssa coughs. I don't think that mere rest will bring them back." Nyssa stands and hefts Čemifobbar's axe. "I can still swing an axe, but I'll tire quickly."

Nyssa stares at Kraig. "Do what? Nyssa knows her hair is tied back the way she always does for work.

"Thanks.' Nyssa hands the axe back to Čemifobbar.

I'm making the white lock a permanent change to my character description. Hopefully Dinvaya is high enough level cleric to help with the ability drain. Otherwise it's a permanent effect as well. Ability damage heals. Ability drain is permanent.

Although not really harmed, Valt realizes how much wounded some of his companions are. Kraig took a nice beat, and both Cem and Nyssa look terrible.

As much as I hate to say it, we will need some time to recover from this.

We must try to make good use of that time.

Yellow Gun Knowledge: Doesn't know. Fires some kind of energy.
Red Tech Armor Knowledge: Doesn't know. Some kind of light armor.
Metal Square Knowledge: Doesn't know. You think you insert it somewhere, and insert something into it.
Strange Circlet Knowledge: Records words. Translates spoken language into Androffan. Wear it on your neck like a choker.

I'm assuming when the message was spoken, someone else translated it into Androffan. Because aliens.

You leave the haunted canyon and wrecked ship and return to your Seven Torches base.

if it is a drain...forever. You need magic to cure it. If damage then 2 points a day, assuming bed rest and a heal check. otherwise 1 point a day


It was a drain. The spell Restoration, a 4th level spell, can cure it. alchemist 4, cleric/oracle 4, inquisitor 4, paladin 4

"So, anybody know what happened back there? Where do ghosts like that come from? Some of you look pretty bad. Not you, Nyssa, you're still adorable, but Čemifobbar looks tired."

'Perhaps we should go ask Dinvaya about that vision and the dark ghost. Clerics are knowledgeable about things like that."

Nyssa gives Tessara a speculative look. She had been meaning to delve into the bad blood between the archer and Brigh cleric, but didn't seem to have the energy just now.

Čemifobbar is feeling too weak for bravado. "I feel wretched after that fight, even though I defeated that ghost. I doubt I could best a lame goblin in this state. I hope Dinvaya is capable of curing Nyssa and I. And I hope she is amiable to us despite our unfortunate exchange when we first her."

"At least we defeated that ghost, and put its menace to rest. There's some consolation in that."

Tess looks with concern at their front liners. "We need to restore your vitality. We should get somewhere safe and avoid combat until you are recovered."

"How do we go about restoring their vitalities? Shouldn't killing the ghost have undone the curse or whatever? I think that's how it works. Maybe they have to eat its remains to gain its powers."

So we need to go back to Torch to sell stuff, buy stuff, and get cured.


What do you do? Dinvaya and Joram Kyte are both clerics who may be able to cure the ability drain. You can also try to buy potions from shady scrappers.

"I'm going to see Dinvaya. If she can't restore the life that damn ghost stole from me, I'll have to go back to Torch. As a warrior, I'm not much good right now."
Nyssa heads out toward the strange clock-work tower where the cleric of Brigh lives. She hopes Dinvaya doesn't feel the need to test any more contraptions on her.

"I Agree with Nyssa. Both of us are nearly infirm from that ghost we killed. I too want to see if Dinvaya can help us. She still seemed to want to help us all despite inauspicious first meeting."

Čemifobbar will accompany Nyssa to the clock tower.


Cemifobbar and Nyssa head to Dinvaya's chapel. The elven woman greets them.

"Oh, its you two again. What is it that you need?"

Nyssa and Cemifobbar ask her about removing their ability drain, and she replies. "Sure. Just pay me a small amount to cover my material expenses. Probably 200 gold apiece."

She doesn't really look at you but again is distracted with tinkering with a golem.
