Uriah Lewis |
Uriah is ready, also I'm going to spend the final 4k gold since it seems that everyone is pretty good on items and I won't be outclassing anyone.
GM Demonmoose |
"I have heard from a good friend in Iadenveigh, that they had a slight altercation with the Technic League. It didn't lead to anything important, but you can never tell with the League. I believe Iadenveigh is where you are heading, so it would be a personal favor to me if you could check on what happened, if there might be any trouble in the future, etc."
Astra Picard |
"Well, there had been some interesting questions raised on our previous assignment regarding Iadenveigh. We might as well check it out. Besides, Chakos might appreciate a trip back home."
Uriah Lewis |
I'll have to keep a low profile. From what I know of that place...I wouldn't be so welcomed. Uriah says, glancing at his arm and various tech items strapped all over his armor.
Astra Picard |
"What Mr. Lewis says is true -- Iadenveigh verges on the technophobic. We would do well to conceal all of our technological items. I would suggest checking the Torch market for some sort of magical container, like a 'bag of holding'."
Ibuki Surtova |
kn:local Iadenveigh: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Chakos home eh? That might get interesting. I could make another of those bags in one day probably. As for the arm, we can hide it with an illusion if need be. Except of course, once there, someone puts us on the dock. As far as i´m concerned, loyalty goes to everyone, in all situations. Can´t speak for others here though.
Chakos Hyluan |
"Well, my own prejudice for not using such items is known by you, perhaps you will learn where I got this. It will be nice to see the parents again. Mom makes an excellent radish and lentil soup that I'm sure you will love."
Ibuki Surtova |
That might be interesting, if you can garuantee our personal safety! I´m somewhat worried there.
Ibuki thinks to himself:
He speaks of his technophobia and the other quirks as if it´s an infection. Perhaps it can be cured....just need to make sure it doesn´t spread more. Eventually he might even understand that it´s something good to use resources at hand, even if they radiate negative energy. After all, if one has a mighty weapon, what counts is how and why you use it!
GM Demonmoose |
Ibuki knows the standard stuff about Iadenveigh. It is a technophobic farming and hunting community that has so far defended itself from any threats. The Technic League also does not care about it so much as there isn't any technology to be found. Nearby Iadenveigh is a forest with a ruin called the Choking Tower, named for the smoke wizard that used to live there.
Joram Kyte says, "I wish you good luck in your endeavor. Be careful of the Technic League. They can be very deceptive and even hide in plain sight."
Khonnir clears his throat. "Yes, good luck to you all. I hope that you come back safely with more information about any threats to Numeria."
Dolga nods, "They should be fine. They look a bit weaker than my old crew, but there's more of them." The dwarf rubs her warhammer. "They also know more about technology then we did back then."
When you are ready to leave, you head south and west towards Iadenveigh.
You can make a Survival check to travel to your destination.
Astra Picard |
"So it seems like we should prepare for a trip to Iadenveigh. Who is this good contact you heard from, councilors? We might as well start our investigation with the source of your information."
Ibuki Surtova |
We better be carefull with our technological items! This world is full of hate and sometimes even those who claim to spread love and peace and work for supposedly good forces turn out to be mad zealot fanatics that are just as deadly and threatening as a horde of demons if one doesn´t submitt to their however twisted view of the world!
Chakos, say, have you ever heard of a place named the Choking Tower? When we travel there it seems like a good opportunity to investigate that. I heard tales of a smoke wizard living there once and i think smoke magic could be quite handy! If i´m not mistaken it´s a good protection against laser beams!
Syvlara of the MoonWillow |
After everyone has left, Syvlara curses under her breath "Weaker than my old crew, f#*%ing dwarves. We killed the lords of rust, we destroyed hellion, we killed so many orcs. What has this dwarf done? Sat on her chair and waited for us to finish the job... grumble grumble rant..."
At least I'll get a good shot on the Technic League. Taking them out will help keep the robots at bay from my people. Also, I wouldn't mind helping this Uriah with exacting his revenge. Yes, this could be a chance to do some good. Kill off some evil tech-obsessed lunatics, and save a town. If only I was getting paid for this.
Astra Picard |
Astra makes sure to get a roomy backpack at the market to stow all her technological gear out of sight.
Meet up at the gates of Torch at dawn? Syvlara, can you roll Survival and the rest of us can try Aid Another at least.
Survival Aid Another Take 10: 10 + 0 = 10 +2 to Syvlara
Astra Picard |
Knowledge (geography): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27
Astra shows up at the western gate of Torch at dawn, holding her horse by the bridle. "We will want to head due west for about fifty miles -- we should hit a region called the Gorum Pots, with prevalent hot springs, which also serve as the headwaters of the Dagger River. From there on, we should just follow the Dagger River roughly southwest for about a hundred miles, as it passes by Iadenveigh."
Uriah Lewis |
Uriah says I'll cover up, and keep my things hidden. and he purchases a long coat to cover his arm and puts away his tech items, keeping only his sword and dagger visible.
Uriah can take 10 for a total of 15 in Survival
Ibuki Surtova |
Not to self: learn teleport!
survival aid another: 1d20 ⇒ 5
kn:geography: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Ibuki is not quite an outdoorsman, but he has some skills in geography.
Perhaps those come in handy in this situation.
He will also prepare the spell detect radiation and check that regularly.
Astra has a point. That seems like a good route. We could take a bath at the Gorum Pots. That would be civilized.
Chakos Hyluan |
I too have Survival as a skill. Sorry I've been a little absent, GenCon ends tomorrow. you know how grueling Cons can be!
"Oh, mom's soup is the best, look at how I turned out from eating it!"
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Astra Picard |
"It's theoretically possible -- blueberries are one of the highest staining plants known -- witness your tongues after eating them, compared to most other foods. However, it would only cover the digestive system, and it would still wear off over time upon cessation of consumption."
Since nobody else is dibsing it, Astra will take the first watch for the night at the Gorum Pots.
Astra Picard |
"No, it refers to the bowl-like shape of many of the hot springs. Although Gorumites do have a myth that the first iron weapons were forged here, perhaps also helmets. The waters are so reddish because of the high iron content in the earth, so there may be some truth to the myth, as iron would indeed have been easy to procure here." Astra takes some water and soil samples at the Gorum Pots.
Following the Dagger River southwards, Astra takes the first watch again at the next campsite.
Astra Picard |
Astra wakes up Syvlara. "I think I heard something. Help me look for it."
Once Syvlara is awake, Astra starts to cast Light, picking up a pebble and making it glow, then throwing it to the north of the camp. If there's nothing, then she picks up another pebble, casts Light again (the north Light going out at that point), and throws it to the east of the camp. Repeat to the south, to the west, then NW, NE, SE, SW. While throwing the Lighted pebbles in each of the eight compass directions, she gestures for Syvlara to look around in each of those directions; having low-light vision, she might be able to see what Astra can't.
GM Demonmoose |
Astra's pebbles hit bushes. A small furry creature darts out of the bush and runs away from the camp. It was a rabbit. Astra hurls the last stone for good measure, and it makes a plink noise, striking some kind of metal.
A very large robot emerges from the darkness. It stomps towards you on disjointed legs, cannon hands surrounded by metal claws.
Astra's Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Chakos' Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Uriah's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Enemy Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
1. Enemy
2. Everyone
The robot is fifty feet away from you and the campsite. Everyone's turn.
Astra Picard |
Astra takes a five foot step towards whatever might be the nearest cover (she might not reach it with that little movement, but she starts towards it), and at the same time grabs the EMP pistol hanging in a holster at her hip. She hammers the 'charge up' button with the heel of her palm, and yells out, "Alarm!" as the pistol begins to build up a soft whine and a lighted panel starts glowing a brighter and brighter blue.
She readies an action that if the robot fires, she will fire back.

Electricity Damage vs Construct: 4d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 4) + 3 = 18 Plus 50% more if vulnerable to electricity
She tries to identify the robot and its capabilities.
Knowledge (engineering): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Uriah Lewis |
@Chakos I see what you did there
Uriah swears Son of a.. and he grabs his weapons, preparing to sprint off either towards the danger or away, depending on how these next few seconds go.
Grabbing weapons and standing
Kn:Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
GM Demonmoose |
Uriah and Astra have a slight understanding of the creature. The large creatures are made of hardened metal and their arms end in sonic weaponry.
Astra's pistol shot sends a small blast of electrical energy at the robot. It seems to affect it stronger, though resisted by its metal frame.
Will Save vs Charm, DC 18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
The creature shakes off Ibuki's magic.
(17) Robot. Chakos and Syvlara's turn.
Syvlara of the MoonWillow |
Syvlara's eyes widen in surprise when she spots the large robot. "Oh you have got to be kidding me." Pulling out her pre-strung bow, she makes a single shot against the machine.

Chakos Hyluan |
Chakos grabs his new axe and rises from his slumber, hopefully getting into position to be between the creature and the squishy party members, but not where he would block Liz's spell.
GM Demonmoose |
The warden robot is a powerful guardian of certain locations. They have sonic and light weaponry meant to disrupt its opponents' senses. They are tough, and can project a sonic field that causes living creatures to shut down.
Guessing Syvlara used an adamantine arrow.
Syvlara shoots the robot in its core. The arrow flies through as though the creature were flesh and bursts out the other side with black "blood."
(42) Robot. Enemy's turn.
