Write up obtaining a 'recently bloodied chain shirt' and I'll let you have it. If it's a good scene, it can be masterwork. :)

"The dwarf's got the right of it. Next, you'll be claiming we lost the war because you put a sword away half an inch to the right of where it should have been and someone couldn't grab it fast enough." Kaede laughs grimly.

"I understand being born to responsibility - more than most. And it's a fact of life that your decisions affect others; even more so when you're shackled to the responsibilities we are. But we've all chosen to be here, just like you have - do you really think anyone would still be hanging around with that windbag Sir Ilivan otherwise?

You've accepted it's your fate, and you want to be here, at least grudgingly. It's a start. Now own it. Make yourself the sword's strongest master ever; grab your fate by the balls and run with it. If others fall, it's fate's will, and the spirits of this land will welcome the fallen with open arms. But it's not your fault if they are lost, and even if it was, there's no point in dwelling on what could have been."

Feel free to do a clean edit if you prefer, but it seemed the sort of advice she'd give. :)

As Arodric and Kaede rejoined the others, Kaede heard Sir Ilivan voicing his objections. "Arrogant, self-serving piece of shit...what is he even doing out here? But this Commander Manaria...she's one I could get behind. Idealistic, perhaps, but stalwart."

She waited to hear Commander Manaria's answers to Hedda's questions and Kazmuk's reasoned response.

Action 3

"Why not get him to doing something useful while he hopes for what's not yet impossible? Kaede turned to the young man; she's unaccustomed to dealing with children, but she appreciated this one's fighting spirit.

"Your father sounds like he has a warrior's spirit; he'll do everything he can to stay alive, and we'll do everything we can to bring him back. In the meantime, he wouldn't want you to just sit around and wait for him. That'd be a waste, eh? So make sure you do a good job taking care of the horses in here - the soldiers will need them. And if you can, see if you can find a weapons master that will help you to learn your way around a couple of weapons. Even something simple like a spear, if you can have the guts to make sure you stick them with the pointy end."

She smiles and tries to look reassuring, then reaches to her belt and unties one of the many bone charms tied to it, carved in the shape of an eagle. She offers it to the boy with a glare at Sir Ilivan, as if daring him to stop her.

"Here's something else. It's called a fetish. My people believe that there are rivers of magic that run through our whole world, and when someone falls, their spirit joins that river's flow. These fetishes help us to connect to that flow - kind of like the priests' holy symbols. When you miss your father, just talk to this eagle. If he's still alive, the spirits will carry your message to him; if he's fallen, then he's joined in the spirits' flow, and you'll be talking right to him. Either way, he'll hear.

"Now go on, and remember what I said. Mind the commanders and your stablemaster, and work hard. One day, you'll be ready to take on the hordes; until then, keep that eagle close."

Kazmuk hears at Hedda's questioning and soon answers.

"They are alive because it is the only thing that makes sense..."

He pauses to make sure that all of them are paying attention.

"According to the commander's report, they came and tortured one man, forcing the defenders to attack, just to surprise them, killing many warriors and them take prisoners... If their intentions were to just to kill them, they could have done that at that moment, even forcing more defenders to come to their rescue... The right question now is what do they intend to do with the prisoners? They were after just a couple of men, or for a specific man among those who charged?"

Manaria shook her head, "He's right. If they wanted them dead, we would be burying their bodies right now. There are rumors of settlements in the Worldwound where slaves are used to do the heavy work."

She breathed in deep before adding, "And I have also heard that certain demon lords have a longing for the taste of humanoid flesh."

"I don't know of any characteristic that would make the men taken any different from our other soldiers. These are all good men and women fighting the good fight, for Ioemedae's sake."

Sir Ilivan scoffed, "You may as well tell him now so he can get to doing something useful instead of just hoping for the impossible. What do you gain by lying to him?"

Hedda took a menacing step forward and she hissed, "It must be nice to have never lost anyone otherwise you may show a sliver of compassion. We're not lying to him, we're just not extinguishing all his hope." Sabola had listened to the conversation, but his condition kept him from really being well enough to participate. "In the end, each one must decide their own path. My path leads to trying to rescue the kidnapped crusaders, and I will gladly accompany you all on that path."

Action 3

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Having been cleansed of the disease that was wracking his body, Sabola's cleared senses allowed him to read Sir Ilivan a bit better. "A grizzled warrior like him has lost his purpose and meaning, and just fights because he has always fight. I do not know if I aspire to, or fear that state," Sabola thought to himself.

Sabola looked at the boy, "Child, tell us everything you can of your father, and we shall do out best. I choose to not make promises that I cannot be sure to keep, so my only promise is to do my best."

Armour scene
Arodric asked about the two silver rings worked into the armour, over the chest, each with matching inscriptions but different sizes. Turned out that the warrior who owned it had had his wedding rings worked in after his wife was killed in Drezen. He'd tried to move to a 'safe post' to raise his children - and been struck down a week ago while on the wall.
Arodric thanked the two, heard the provenance, and handed over a reasonable amount of gold, partially to cover the cost, and partially to help with raising the previous owner's children.

Actions 1
survivial: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Arodric slipped off his horse, crouching by the footprints and studying them carefully, then looking them up in a small volume.
"Looks to be 10 - no 11 sets of footprints. A dretch, a schir, and... yes, a brimorak. The other 8 are in shoes - unusual for demons - so probably the ones we're after."

Actions 2

I think you can not take a 20 on survival... since it says that you can only retry after 1 hour and a 20 assumes you failed many times before managing to pass, it would take a day to do it!

Action 1

Kazmuk looked at the footprints atop his sturdy horse.

Wish I had dedicated myself to other activities back in Tar-Kazmukh... there are skills and knowledge that one does not simple learn by reading a book...

Also GM, Kazmuk already used his 'Inspired' reroll for today.

Hedda wasn't used to following tracks from atop a horse. The extra dust kicked up by equine legs were hampering her ability. However, it does not prevent you from still hallucinating that Kaede, Hedda, and Kazmuk are still saying derogatory things about you.

Sabola had thought he heard it earlier, and now he was sure. The others were talking about him. Not to his face, of course. Oh no, behind his back. He heard snippets, pieces of their talk. The disease was his fault, half orcs were weak, and why do they get saddled with such an ugly one.

Even though this isn't combat (yet), we're treating it like combat and going one round at a time so it's very useful if we all post within 24-hours so I can move this along.

Hopefully, I'll get everyone's posts tomorrow so I can recap.

"No, no, my head is still atop my shoulders, and working just fine..." He looks towards Kaede, as if measuring her before he continues. "Insinööri on hieno, mutta leveä menettänyt järkensä ... jos hän ei takaisin, parempi lyödä hänet ulos mahdollisimman pian ... me hätää Sir paskaa jälkeenpäin."

Hallit:

Fabian, is it possible to stage these throughout the turn?
"Look." says Arodric reasonably "I'm doing the best I can. I'm not trained for this, remember! Just tell me what's happening."

A few moments later Arodric looks a little more upset "It's not paranoia! It's a reasonable possibility!"

A few moments again and Arodric throws up his hands "No! Something's wrong with you." his eyes narrow and his hand falls to his sword "If that is you."

Yes, of course, I'll place these between other people's talk.

Hearing Kazmuk's response, Sabola shook his head in disbelief, "more insults is it? So now I am messed up in my head?" He looks around at the others, "is there anything more the rest of you would like to add that you haven't already said? Anyone want to insult my parents? Perhaps my entire line? I assure you that I can gut you while you are laughing at me just fine!"

"No one's gutting anyone, Sabola. I don't know what's wrong, but something's gotten into your head. Arodric's and Sir Shi- Sir Ilivan's too. Just put down the dagger and let us figure it out. We want to help."

Kaede speaks aside to Kazmuk and Hedda in a soft voice."Valmiita. Jos meillä on lyödä hänet ulos, meidän täytyy olla nopea, tai se on sinun sisua."

Hallit:
Stand ready. If we have to knock him out, we'll have to be quick, or it's your guts.

I was using Welsh for Hallit, but I think I like Finnish better.

"And you say I'm messed up huh? Try counting again, it's daggers, with an S" Sabola begins weaving his two miniature longswords around in a martial dance, ready to pounce should more insults be hurled at him.

Action 1
"Okay... what just happened there?" Arodric is disoriented, clutching his sword in both hands.

Action 2
"Hey, sir? Sir? Are you alright?" he looks at the others "Yeah. That's not right."

Action 1

"Hey you two... are you still with us? What happened?"

Kazmuk was not used to measure his words, so he did the best as he could not to anger the half-orc.

Action 2

Kazmuk looked at Sir Illivan.

As much as I love to put a brat back to his place, there is no way to foresee how this lunatic knight will react if the others point out his shameful state...

Kazmuk approached the soldier and helped him to get up.

"Looks like you felt from the horse Sir... perhaps because of the... heat?"

Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8

Suddenly a cool breeze blows the party, remembering Kazmuk that the whole day was far from hot.

Sir Ilivan slowly came to his senses. Upon becoming alert, he straightened himself and shakily tried to mount his mare, slipping in his stirrup on the first try and nearly falling back on the ground. He waved off any attempts to help him, incoherently mumbling that he was fine.

If anyone wants to talk some more, please make some sort of 'social' check as well as roleplay it out

FYI, I'll be out all day so don't expect any posts from me until this evening.

Please finish posting so I can move the game along.

Arodric looked at the others, but there's no support there. He sighed and approached Ilvain.
"Sir? You're not fine. A bunch of us aren't. I'm not asking you to tell me what you saw, but..." his sword was still in his hand, though pointed at the ground. Without moving it suddenly, somehow, seemed more dangerous. "I need to know it's you in there."
