Bummed about Retias but hey, I'm loving that Mark is jumping in. :)

For Russ and the Allfather!! Aaarroooooooh!

Howdy! Welcome! Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm slowly trudging through my profile (incomplete at present) and just wanted to confirm on XP.

How much do I get to spend? Perfectly ok with starting a little bit behind the others by the way.

Also, a clarification on Patient Hunter... does it change the skills to actually rolling off Perception? - or does it just grant the benefit of a re-roll?

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

It is replacing the atribute with perception for concealment, shadowing, and silent move. This allows you to use Heightened Senses talent and Wolf Senses ability with these skills (First Founding pg. 60).

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Mark, spend a total of 1500 XP for advances. Also, no need to rush, as I will be away on vacation over the coming weekend and probably will not have a lot of time to post (not sure about my internet access where we're going).

Roger that - 1,500xp spend and looks like I'll be pumping Perception ;)

Will give myself the hard target of the end of the weekend to be at 100% completion.

Björn Ensam-Vargr wrote:

Hmm... Now there are two feral, uncouth, mead-swilling Space Wolves. At least we know who to blame when the Kill-Team's locker room is a complete pig-sty! :)

Hey now - that's a bit much... I won't be mead-swilling.

Rookseye - do I have to take Astartes Scout Armor, or would I potentially be able to take Deathwatch Scout Armor from Rites of Battle?

Wounds: 1d5 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Fate: 1d10 ⇒ 10 = 5 Fate Points

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Mark, Deathwatch Scout Armor is perfectly OK. You are eligible to take any/all of the assigned gear listed under Retias original incarnation.

Roger that Rookseye - for now I'll assume just a standard load-out with the Deathwatch Scout Armor swapped in.

Have thrown up an initial post in response to the original set-up, and when I first meet the rest of the kill-team I'll do a more expanded detailing on appearance and what not.

Looks great Mark.

I'm just back from my trip but should be able to do a final vetting of your character and resume posting by tomorrow night.

Cross-posted on Oremor, Jericho, and Forsaken OOC threads:

Only War! campaign launch is Monday night.

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Mark, finally getting around to vetting your character. Here is what I need from you:

  • A Demeanor for Brother Bjorn, anything but Gregarious should work.
  • A Chapter Trapping.

Also, if you have access to the book Rites of Battle, feel free to explore the Deeds (some Deeds are free) and other optional advances, in this book or any others if you feel they apply to Brother Bjorn.

Brother Bjorn looks great, I should have a post up for you tonight.

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Thanks for being patient guys, I'll resume posting tonight, I just wanted to keep things quiet a few days more than I originally intended after vacation while Eradico got the Only War campaign up and running.

Rookseye - knew I missed something ;) - I'll touch up the demeanor and trapping when I get home tonight.

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

OK, thanks Mark, everything else looked great.

For demeanor I hope you'd allow a deviation from the book and accept my inspiration from the four humours?

Melancholic: Fundamentally introverted and thoughtful. Melancholics can become preoccupied with the tragedy and cruelty in the world. Often they are perfectionists. They are self-reliant and independent; one negative part of being a melancholic is that they can get so involved in what they are doing they forget to think of others.

And for chapter trapping - a Runic Totem of the Sun Wolf (+3 on Awareness)

SO I am going space marine for the new edition of 40k. I was wondering those of you that play, what chapter would the storm warden fall mostly into?

Cheliax

GM W.R. Monger

Ultramarines or Space Wolves most likely.

Mark, the Demeanor is great, and I have noted the trapping on your sheet, which is now posted to the wiki: Brother Björn.

Sorry about the delay, I posted this a few days ago, but it must have been eaten by the boards when I hit submit.

Male Web integrator 1/game designer 1/Game Master 3

Greetings,

I realize that this is not a recruitment thread and I apologize in advance if my post is deemed inappropriate. As a Deathwatch GM I'm desperate to join a Deathwatch game as a player and I'd be very interested in joining this game if, at some point, a spot opens up.

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Hi Ravenmantle, no need for apologies. We are currently full, but feel free to lurk and post in OOC, and if something opens up or circumstances change, we'd be glad to have you.

Brother Bjorn will be flying out of Malaysia and back into Australia on 28th September and will be visiting family for a couple of weeks through to the 15th of October. While I should still be able to check in periodically it will likely cause a few interruptions and my posts may involve a little more brevity than usual.

If needed at any point feel free to keep things moving with a DMPC :)

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

OK, thanks for the head's up, Mark, have a safe trip!

Conveniently, Brother Bjorn's particular storyline at this time can be doled out in staggered increments until such time that he and the other Battle-Brothers meet. I will DMPC as needed, but it shouldn't be necessary, at least for a bit.

Also, sorry about my recent absence from posting, some family issues outside of my control have been preoccupying me of late (no worries though, nothing earth-shattering) and we recently had an addition to the household with my son's new puppy who is pretty much monopolizing everyone's attention. Posting should be normalizing over the next week or so, so thanks for being patient!

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Cross posted from the Oremor Affliction

I'm not ending the game.

I felt that should start things off, so there is no misunderstanding with what is to follow.

First of all, I'd just like to apologize to everyone about my absence of late, I feel guilty for not posting something sooner, but I had every intention that the hiatus would be a much shorter one.

Truth is, I may have been ignoring the warning signs that I was getting a little burnt out GM'ing for a while now, and once I realized what was happening, I had planned on taking a few days off and returning again fairly quickly, but life has a habit of interfering with the best laid plans, and the time between my posts just kept getting larger.

The creative juices just weren't flowing for me of late, and I didn't want to 'post just to post', as I kind of hold myself to a high standard with this hobby, and felt you guys deserved better. I suppose I should give myself a pat on the back, three years in one PbP game is a pretty good accomplishment, as is juggling another game at the same time for a year plus, but all I can think of is that I'm letting everyone down.

I've reached out to both Bal and Eradico to get their take on things, and have to thank them for their support and advice, both have been tremendous.

So, rather than ruin something that we have all spent a long time building and working at, I'm going to take a hiatus, a sabbatical if you will, from both games, to recharge my batteries. My intention is to begin both games anew just after Christmas to finish what we started way back in October of 2009. I think we all have a personal stake of sorts in where the story is going, so I hope you will all be patient with me, and stay along for the ride, I promise it won't disappoint.

On the other hand, I totally understand if anyone wants to leave the game due to this interruption. There definitely won't be any hard feelings on my end, as this is my decision, and I understand that not everyone wants to wait around for a game, free time is a valuable thing for most of us in the PbP world. I just ask that you give me the head's up before we start again, either through email (Paizo messager, or rookseye at yahoo dot com) or in OOC here.

I consider you all friends, and am constantly amazed and delighted by the enjoyment that your individual interactions with these shared stories have brought me over the past few years, taking them in directions I never would have foreseen at the outset; making them your own, a collaborative imaginative experience that can't be topped in my humble opinion by any other form of entertainment. Thanks for making everything that has come to pass thus far in the Oremor Affliction and the Sons of Jericho cooler than my wildest hopes at the outset.

I will probably be posting something intermittently in both IC and OOC for both games during the hiatus to keep the threads alive, so there will be some activity, but I plan to keep things largely quiet in the meantime. If anyone would like to discuss either game in OOC too, I'll be checking those posts pretty regularly, so feel free to update your characters and spend the most recent experience awards granted. You'll be seeing me in Eradico's Only War campaign as well, as Sarge, so I won't be totally off the grid.

Thanks in advance for understanding guys, I'm looking forward to beginning fresh in a couple of months and returning to the campaigns, I hope you'll all be there with me!

Bump to keep thread active.

Bump

In roughly twelve hours I will willingly subject myself to an eight hour period of physical exertion, sleep deprivation and general sanity slippage.... that is to say I'm flying down to Australia with two kids on a red eye. I shall be doing the christmas thing, familial visitation thing and even attending a ten year University re-union... which should be interesting to say the least.

That will mean that I shall not be my usual self when it comes to internet connectivity and PbP response. I should still get online here and there, but it's unlikely to be every day - and even when I do time will be short so you will have to endure a lesser amount of my usual sesquipedalian loquaciousness. Posted here just in case PbP comes alive again before I get back.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Krazy Kwanzaa or even Positive Emotion Non-Religious Holiday Vacation Day... depending upon your own predisposed proclivities. I look forward to further electronically shared adventures in the post-Mayan calendar New Year.

OK, everything should be back in full swing for both campaigns this week, my thanks to everyone for being so patient, and especially for the timely bumps from Eradico and Balfic. I kept meaning to do it myself, but by the time I remembered you guys had saved me the trouble, much appreciated!

The break from the action helped tremendously for me (GM burnout is no fun), and I am eager to get both campaigns back on track and continue the story-lines we've invested so much time and effort in crafting.

My assumption is that everyone is returning, but I ask that you please check in with a post below so that I know your intentions with regard to continuing with the campaign and GM/NPC as required to keep things moving.

Glad to be back in the grim, dark future of the 41st millennium

Hello, hope everyone had a fantastic new year, but I regret to inform I will no longer be able to participate in this campaign. I leave for BCT very soon since the lack of employment doesn't leave me much of any other options. It was a fun as hell to share this campaign and to be allowed to participate and get to know you (albeit in a limited way).

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Sorry to see you go Deiros. Was fun gaming with you. Hopefully you can come back and join us at a later time. These games have good life to them, and I'm sure we will be here awhile.

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Sorry to see you go as well, Deiros. I'm glad you had fun playing with us, it was a pleasure to have you along for the campaign to this point.

Thanks, too, for introducing me to the Iron Snakes, the book was a great read, and your attention to detail when designing the chapter from scratch for the game was spot on.

I'll be moving Brother Decius out of the current storyline and keeping him safe and healthy in Watch Fortress Erioch furthering his Deathwatch training so that if/when you choose to return he'll be here for you.

Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Mark, I received the PM sent by Bilbo for the Sons of Jericho game and will be replying soon with what I'll need from him. My intent is to have him fill the recent vacancies of Rad and Deiros, and I'll likely leave the core group at six after this for the foreseeable future.

Ultramarine Apothecary

Hello Brothers,

This is Bilbo Bang-Bang. I will soon be joining the Kill-Team and be charged with the protection of your gene-seed and maintaining your health on the field of battle. I look forward to the coming battles with the forces of Chaos and the invasive Xenos.

Welcome to the game, Bilbo, once you have finalized your character concept and stats in your character profile, I will insert it into the character sheet for the wiki and we should have you up and gaming with us fairly soon.

Sorry about the lull there guys, had a very ill co-worker in the hospital, and had to cover a number of shifts in the last week. This coupled with some more OT from this year's Storm of the Century has left me a little ragged.

Good news is that I will be updating both games tonight and should be back on schedule after that, so thanks for being patient!

No prob, Rook. The majority of the team is in stasis anyways. :)

Cheliax

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Just an update, Bilbo is still working on his Apothecary, and I've been approached by another player who is very interested in joining the game.

Provided everyone is OK with adding another to fully replace our two recent departures, we should be at full-strength again.

I should have a post up for tonight in Sons of Jericho. Unfortunately, exhausted Sus-An sleep trumped my best intentions last night. I updated the Dark Heresy game this morning though, and things should be moving forward with more consistency now that scheduled has stabilized somewhat.
