Gunk wrote:Thanks for the feedback Hamzah. For quite some time now I've been concerned by the 'woodenness' of the acting. It is something we are working on. Our DoP is excellent with lighting, camera angles, and editing. But there is less attention to acting than I'd like for sure. Though it does get better as we move into episodes 4-6. Truth be told, we really only have 1 person on set with any training in acting and shes an improv comedian ... not an entirely transferable skill set. Lol
Thanks for the input though. It is far more valuable than you might imagine.
PS That was me that died first. I died literally in the first episode BEFORE the credits rolled!
I think it is great that you're doing it. Keep at it.
I enjoy creative work. I write fiction. Nothing published yet. I have some short stories, a novel and a half, and a screenplay complete. No luck selling any yet. I enjoy the work, so I keep at it. You never know what might one day resonate with enough people to have your work turn into your living. I did love The X-Files. Though your work also reminds me of that magician detective Harry Dresden as well.
You were the thug that was shot and went up in flame? That was a cool effect. Costumers were pretty good too.
Though I'm sure there are more than a few of our cast and crew that would surely quit their day jobs to do this full time, I'd likely not. I love teaching highschool Computer Science, Game Design, and Cisco Networking Academy. Not sure even a truckload of cash would draw me away from that for very long. For me it's just a hobby and nothing more.
Keep up with the writing. I love it myself. I helped write the overall story arc and the character development sheets. The dialogue was written by my buddy. Writing is such a fantastic hobby. Chances are one day it will payoff for you. If not, doing what you love in the meantime is never a bad thing.

I can probably hold on to the potions so we can use it, although I think Gunk can do that too.

It looks like I need to issue an apology: turns out Riding dogs are NOT supposed to be on the summon monster 1 list, since they have virtually identical stats to wolves on the SM 2 list. Turns out this was an errata that Paizo missed, and Riding Dog will be changed to just dog in the next printing of the core rule book. Looks like I'll just be sticking to eagles then...

Gunk, what do you say about a google spreadsheet with all our items? I can make one but seeing as your the tech guy..... Also, Dave said we can sell our mundane stuff to the caravan so maybe we can do that.
GM: Dave the Dwarf |
Since you are building a city I am adding in the fame and prestige point mechanics to the game.
Your Fame starts at your level + your charisma modifier. Your fame can range from -100 to 100. You have a sphere of influence of 100 miles radius. It increases at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 55 by another 100 miles.
After you have your fame calulated add 5 to it for clearing the monastary. Everyone has 5 Prestiege points that you can spend on anything in your fame rank.
Gunk gets 1 fame and PP for not letting Dashki go.
Hajar gets 1 fame and PP for making him frendly and bringing him to your side.
Hamzah gets 1 fame and PP for converting him to Sarenrae's religion.
If you think you have done something fame worthy make your case.
Leyli Wildspeaker |
That would be the entry together with grapple, that's why I thought you can also damage the boar since a lion has a bite for natural attack.
Although with Dave's description of the dire boar, I can perfectly see that it would be more of a 'climb on the back' of the boar thing.
For fame and PP may I suggest that, every time we do something for the caravan like clean the monastery we all get 1 fame? I mean its a group action anyway and the rest like your examples, then it would be your discretion if we deserve it.

the damage occurs after a successful grapple check, but not as part of an attack action
GM: Dave the Dwarf |
Yea Leyli that will totally be part of it I meant if you feel you did something notable before this point remind me so I can give you credit.
If Naziri had actually been the one to get the crit, and not me dmpcing him, that may have been fame worthy to me. I could see it being talked about around camp and thus giving him fame.

So in earlier case, since the grapple check succeeded then Furball would do some damage right? Well in that case I will just always grapple, since if it succeeds, I do some damage and I can use Rake on the next round.
@Gunk Thanks for the google doc, that will help a lot, may I also suggest or ask for you to add the gold pieces to add in our inventory currently? I remember you saying to add this amount of gold before so yea.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Ok, but grapple provokes an AoO and you can't have more than one natural attack on a grapple. There are pros/cons to grappling.
Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |
The only way a grapple does damage on the initial attack is if they have grab. Then you do the initial damage of the attack and make a grapple check. If you want to do damage after the initial attack, then you make a grapple check to do damage.
Otherwise the first grapple check is to start the grapple. It does no damage other than to grant both targets the grappled condition.
Since Dave is not doing AoOs, the AoO danger is removed from grappling.
Leyli Wildspeaker |
So if I wanted to do the damage, I should've rolled for the grapple which succeeded, then one more check for the damage? That would make sense.
Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |
You won't roll the next check until next round.
So it would go like this:
Round 1: Initiate Grapple. If CMB successful, you are grappling. No damage or effect other than Grappled Condition. Target cannot move without escaping or succeeding on a grapple check.
Round 2: If still grappling, you gain a +5 Circumstance bonus to your CMB check to grapple. If grapple check succeeds, you can do one of the following:
Pin: Pin the target.
Move: Move the target
Tie Up: Tie up The target.
Damage: Damage the target.
Subsequent rounds repeat round 2 until target breaks grapple.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Thanks Hamzah, I didn't spell it out as well as you. Basically grappling is best left to monsters/pcs that are specialized to it. It isn't optimal unless you make a point of optimizing it.
GM: Dave the Dwarf |
Thanks for sticking it out with me guys. I am very much learning rules, making up rules and learning how to DM as I go along. This is my first pathfinder game and I did not even play 3.5 much either. I know its still pretty rocky but it will smooth out. I think each combat is getting better then the last. Can you believe we are already over 1000 posts in gameplay?
Hajar nar Jundi |
The fact that you can roll attacks 6 times in one round should say something in and of itself.

What else are meatsh..err paladins for?

Hey Raj any idea where you can get more tokens for Pyromancers? Amazingly I can access it at work....I may never get anything done again.
Next fight I am gong to test out using a map. If everyone likes it I will see about doing it for all fights!
Edit: You can copy the image URL of the avatar images! I think this is going to be great!
That last combat got boring even for me. You all will have to help me learn the attack of opportunity rules though I have never played with them that's why I was not using them. In a forum based game the tactics should be add a lot of fun to combat.

Lots of things provoke AoO's, spells, spell like abilities, moving out of threatened range, moving through threatened spaces......it'll get interesting. I honestly love tactical combat....but I love miniature wargaming so
Leyli Wildspeaker |
Not just that but now we have to be careful in approaching the battle especially if we want to give flanking bonuses. I am with Hajar, I love miniature wargaming so it does make it better for me.

Awesome link about animal companions which is a huge pet peeve of mine. pun intended
Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |
I would not have played a cleric had I known we were going to have this many in the party. I'm not much enjoying playing a cleric. If you're going to bring in a dwarf player, I'd prefer he be the cleric and I can make something else.
Leyli Wildspeaker |
Or an oracle, either or I'm fine with an npc character.
May I also suggest for someone to provide screenshots of the map for people like me that can't access pyromancer at work.
