Avoid it.
Bhalur Blackthorn |
Sabrik |
Gaaaahh!!! Great, just give me a reason to kill it, otherwise I have to use non-leathal attacks
Magnes Coalbrow |
Well the first round you spend trying to calm it only for it to try and rip your arm off could work.
Koija's not on but his racial Myst sight might notice something about the creature. Because vampires and wolves tend to have a thing. and Dire wolves can be magically summoned as well as just randomly coming out of the forest to waylay passers by.
As to the nonlethal attacks please note my suggestion earlier in the discussion about the Blade of Mercy trait and how it would make this sort of issue much easier on you. It is a great trait.
Bhalur Blackthorn |
Well, as Bhalur doesnt have anything else than Handle Animal plus being all bhakiri I guess it would make sense at least try to shoo it off or at least drop it from attacking us. I could of course change my action but thinking
thanks for reminding. Forgot what the skill actually did
Sabrik |
Well, yeah. I'm sure a knowledgeable person could summon a animal just to take advantage of my order...
So find out if magical!
Sabrik |
Yeah, druids and rangers get animal empathy, which works like diplomacy on animals. In one level, my order gives me some use of that.
Magnes Coalbrow |
Well you do have roars that could stun the thing outright on a decent intimidate check. I doubt it would be interested in us after that.
I highly doubt we will actually kill the thing unless someone gets a lucky critical. Dire animals have very high constitution scores so it would require 50+ damage to actually kill this thing.
Its why dire boars at low levels are terrifying. They just won't stop.
Sabrik |
Well that's cleared up. I will trip stun and sunder, therefore I don't lay the killing blow
Sabrik |
Looking at the stats, I may get one as a mount later on. That or use my order power and turn Brunswick into one during combat.
Bhalur Blackthorn |
actually.. hmm, that is a good point.
I will change my action to Primal roar. Sabriks attemp is like a kitty cat attempting to scare its brethren :P
Sabrik |
Yeah, total fail
Sabrik |
Wow, I hope all my combat doesn't suck...
Magnes Coalbrow |
Is there any issue with saying that Magnes is at the front of the group now that we know there is no chance of getting this wolf to back down without domination magic?
I'm starting to lose track of what people are actually going to do with their round at this point.
If I have it right.
Sabrik/Bhalur realize they can't calm this beast without beating it within an inch of its life.
x2 primal roars.
Our lovely lady paladin is going to huck a spear at it.
I assume Koija is going to use his tricksy magiks
And I'd bet Kevroth is about to shoot it with his fancy bang stick.
Bhalur Blackthorn |
1 Round
Sabrik: Primal Roar
Bhalur: Primal Roar
Rhial: Spear Throw
Koija: Cast Magic armor himself
Magnes: -information missing-
Kevrot: -information missing-
Sabrik |
Yep, bout right. Though my trip attempts will likely fail while I'm mounted.
Sabrik |
Koija just cast mage armor
Koija Hirano |
Did some tricksy defensive magic ;)
Sabrik |
I'm assuming that this is woodland, am I right?
Sabrik |
Okay, no response for 10 minutes, must be off doing something or trying to decide how the wolf will react. Seeing that we all just waisted the surprise round.
Chingo Chaplo |
I'm waiting for Kevroth to state his action. Combat can't be resolved until then. Meanwhile I'm working on a Mystworld wiki. Not much there yet though.
Magnes Coalbrow |
The absolute best situation you can hope for on a PbP for combat is 2 rounds of combat in one day. Average I've seen is 1 round per day and half or two days. some keep it at round/day. I've had combats in PbP last for nearly a month before but even at a quick pace combat slows things down in this setting.
Combat severely limits what actions can be taken in a PbP because the rule of 3/5th no longer applies for what a party wants to do. combat means everyone needs to chime in with their actions before we move onto the next round.
Which will likely make combat one of the more frustrating parts of this for you as there is nothing you can do but wait. Well I suppose you could do battle banter or internal monologues but there are only so many you can post before it becomes an annoyance.
Sabrik |
Yeah, right. I get that. Well, killing a low lvl creature will sometimes take only one attack. Such as a wizard who cast magic missile on one kobold. Practically kills the thing.
Sabrik |
But I'm fine with that, I'll just post in other campaigns. (Though those are slower paced)
Edit: ninjas, great. Yeah do that with me and use my autopilot suggestions.
Magnes Coalbrow |
Sounds like it might get a bit frustrating for folks on a different time scale than you if they disagree with the actions you took with them.
it would be my preference to wait unless we are just mopping up something small.
Oh absolutely killing mooks is always fun.
But a dire wolf against a group of first level characters?
that right there is not a mook. That is a TPK machine if the party is unprepared. big nasty there will reliably drop any one of us in one attack when he hits.
fortunately we are fairly heavy on offensive power in this group so we should be able to drop him quickly. Though healing the damage will be a bit more of a challenge.
Sabrik |
I can't at the moment ( I'm blocked out of wikia) but I do wish I could.
Sabrik |
Oh! I issue a challenge against the wolf,
Sabrik |
Okay, thanks, one minute, I have to deal with something.
Sabrik |
So one question, you want stats and stuff or just description and personality?
Koija Hirano |
Sounds like fun. Will fill in a character page for Koija when I have the time. Will be looking for a nice picture :)
About the taking control of character. Depends on the situation a bit. If you would wait 2 hours before advancing, what if it's on a moment where you plan on staying active for the next 8 and I'm not there, that would mean I'll approximately miss 4 combat rounds. Of course on later levels that might mean I'm casting 1 spell ;)
So I wouldn't mind that much if you advance 1 or 2 rounds because almost everyone (3+ people) is online, but I'd rather you wait a bit after that so that I don't miss the whole combat ;)
For if you need to take control of me :
Koija will only use his arcane reservoir to boost his spells if he thinks it is really necessary (really big bad. Dire wolf I still think we can take without using, especially due to our number of people. Barring any weird stuff happening in the first round of course :))
Mostly will use snowball and/or thunderstomp, but will use shocking grasp when they get to close.
If in an area with very low density of myst he will more likely use his lightning lance and use his consume spell ability to regain arcane reservoir if needed.
If no other option is available he will twock things with his hanbo.
With that said, I'm off to bed for today.

Here is a basic
Personality: Sabrik is gruff, stubborn, and aroggant, yet he is loyal and carding for his friends. He is ether always smiling or always flat faced. He acts unorthodox at times, yet doesn't act completely unpredictable. He cares much for animals and nature, yet never gets too attached to any one thing.
Description: sabrik stands 7ft 2in tall, has brown fur, a blonde mane and white antlers. He wares armor with animal furs piled all over, and always has a buckler straped to his off hand. He carries a spear, yet it is short from constantly fiddling, at his waist is a Katana and wakizashi, both well cared for over the years. He is often ridding his horse, Brunswick.
Background (I'm still pulling out kinks here): he was raised just outside the spirit vale. His parents where local druids. He lived with them until he turned 16, and he had been given Brunswick by his father. He left the spirit vale and roamed the wilderness for a year. He had come apon a group of people (you may explain this, I'm not too familiar with the world) who trained in the art of the blade. He learned how to fight as a samurai, a warrior. He left the group to roam once more. He'd become afraid of water when he was ambushed by a group of scrag(water trolls) who had attempted to drown him. He'd escaped on Brunswick. Not too long after, he met another bhakiri
(This is Bhalur of course)
Sabrik |
Yay, combat round one done!!!!
Chingo Chaplo |
Sabrik I'm writing combat resolution and you took a big hit and are knocked prone, will you use a move action to get up and provoke an attack of opportunity at your turn? You're at 2 hp.
Sabrik |
I was knocked off Brunswick!!!???
Sabrik |
Man, can't I make a ride check to stay mounted?
Sabrik |
ride: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
