Lothan Robgard |
Rolling his eyes, "Fine." He then turns to the two, "Are you two gonna be okay here? Is there something else we could do to help you on your feet? I hate to leave you here all hurt and unable to defend yourself."
Darklands Archivist |
At first, Kaerishiel and Shalelu don't seem to know what's going on, but when you talk to them, they realize that they've been set free. "Thank the gods! I thought you were more of the wizard's illusions, at first," Shalelu exclaims.
"You must get to Nolveniss," Kaerishiel interrupts. "He has the portal key that'll get us out of this realm. He should be in the upper levels of this building."
Lothan Robgard |
Nodding, "Okay. Get to Nolveniss, get portal key. Got it." He then turns to the others, "Let's go, people! What are you...," he pauses as he just remembered something. Raising a finger, "Okay, just... just another minute... I KNOW, I know," he responds to the frustrated looks. Lothan then quickly dumps all of their possessions at their feet. "Here. I believe all of this belongs to you two," he says, grinning and with a wink. "Welp... we gotta go." He then draws his bow, "Alright! Now it's time for us to kick us some serious drow butt people! Let's roll." Lothan then turns to head towards the upper levels but stops. Looking around, he turns back and leans in toward Shalelu. "Okay, which way do we go again to get to the upper levels?" he asks out of the corner of his mouth.
Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar is already two paces to the double doors, when Lothan gets the two elves talking. She stops and her head whips around so that she can watch and listen over her shoulder.
While Lothan returns the captives' gear, the shaman eases forward and presses one ear against the double doors.
First detect magic on the doors. If clear, listen

Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar's head snaps up, turns, and lowers as if she were watching a bird fly over head and then land in the middle of the discussion.
She glares at the prisoners.
Actually that's just concentration from the detect magic she's working on.
Lothan Robgard |
"You know, bird-lady, Z's got a good point. Why were they left alive?" He turns to the prisoners, "Okay you two, why were you left alive?" he asks through narrowed eyes. "It really doesn't make a lot of sense for them to keep you alive so tell us why they did."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Lothan Robgard |
"Hostages, huh?" He turns to the others and shrugs. "I got nothin'." Turning back to the hostages, "Okay, that's good enough for me. Well we've wasted enough time here; gotta go! Bye!" With that, Lothan makes his way toward the doors that lead to Nolveniss.
Zoltan the Crippled |
Zoltan shrugs and tries a smile: "Very well then. Understand we've been fooled by illusions enough times to warrant paranoia. Try to keep up if you can and follow us. We're not in our world; we're in the far past. I wouldn't want to stay in this period. Things don't look too promising..." and he darts off after the others.
Lothan Robgard |
"Awwww crap! What the heck is that?! Is that like... space or something? It's not gonna eat us if we go up the stairs, is it? And LET'S not forget the chick who turned into swords-for-fangs, okay?" He looks to the others awaiting an answer on the space eating anomaly. Pathetically impatient, "Walk and talk," he says, continuing up anyway regardless of any response.
Vendric Barsett |
Vendric takes a moment to look at the star thing wondering what it is or if he can identify anything from it. As he does his wounds begin to heal.

Is it see-through? How does the view change as we climb the stairs?
Her mind and senses focused on the hunt, Iolar ignores the star-field. The druid quickly follows Lothan up the stairs.
Darklands Archivist |
It's opaque, and nothing about it looks different, except the angle you view it at, as you climb the stairs. It just looks like an image of a bunch of stars.
Up the stairs, you reach a balcony that crosses through the center of the tower to another set of stairs. At the bottom of the the second set of stairs, you look up and see a pair of drow arcanists.
No surprise round. PCs act first. The drow are 20 feet away and the stairs count as difficult terrain.
Lothan Robgard |
Noticing the drow, "Never mind." Drawing a couple of arrows and taking aim at one of the drow, "I choose you, chump, " he says as he fires away.
Shoot the one on the right I guess

@Darklands: If it's still possible, Lothan would've used the +2's for his round. No worries if not.

Iolar rises from behind the balustrade, ready to rain furious lightning on the drow, but they already lie dead. She smiles tightly at the others and then continues onward.
Nowhere to go but up. Hey do either of these two look familiar?
Darklands Archivist |
The stairs pause for a short run at a small balcony overlooking the haunted city of Celwynvian and the vaguely shadowy expanse of the eerity colorless Mierani Forest beyond.
Up the stairs, you come to the tower's open-air rooftop. Looming at the center is a gigantic golden orrery, with each planet rotating on delicate golden arms around a bright, polished sun. Three balconies overlook the edge of the tower, each one outfitted with massive telescope. Above, almost as if the tower were aimed at its churning core, the spiraling vortex of the sky looms.
Hovering over the sun, 50 feet in the air, a robed drow wields a bleached bone staff, the head of which burns with an unholy fire. "So you are the ones who led those fragile, delicate elves to my city, who forced me to hide in my own creation. You think that by this you have won? How foolish the sun has made you! My mistress already has all that she needs. You will die here, by my hand, and all you hold dear shall follow soon enough!"
Zoltan gets a surprise round action.
I'm using someone else's map cuz I had trouble drawing the details of this room, and this map is so much prettier anyway.

DM, can you adjudicate how many rounds of BoF are left?
Zoltan stares at the floating drow with vengeance in his eyes: "So you are the arrogant fool who caused such despair and had us chasing him across realities to get a beating. I am the gods' envoy, and they are displeased!"
His scorched arms extend on his side and conjure an ethereal filament of blue light spanning between his hands. In symbiotic unison, a similar length of metallic chain appears 45 feet above, and lashes at the drow, flailing at his eyes with a whipping sound.

Round 1
Iolar's flock flies up and surrounds the wizard, attacking furiously. None of them hit the drow, but two of his images are dispelled.
Lothan fires a hail of arrows. These miss the target, but dispel two more of the remaining to illusions.
Zoltan evokes another chain of force that lashes at the drow's face, but misses.
Vendric flies up and spews fire. The villain takes the full effect and looks in pain, but afterward looks unharmed.
The wizard vanishes from sight.
PCs up.
