Lothan Robgard |
"But if we do fight, we're dead anyway!!!" Shaking his head in unbelief, "Well, I'd say it was nice knowing you but...," Lothan doesn't finish as he calls upon a bit of magic to aid him.
Cast Gravity Bow
Darklands Archivist |
Round 1
Iolar zaps the dragon while the elemental smashes its scaly hide. Zoltan hits it with scorching rays, blackening a large portion of its green scales.
Lothan casts gravity bow.
The dragon exhales a massive spray of corrosive gas down onto the PCs (Iolar, Zoltan, and the elemental take 25 acid dmg, reflex save DC 17 for half).
PCs are up.
Iolar Eitilt |
"But if we do fight, we're dead anyway!!!" Shaking his head in unbelief, "Well, I'd say it was nice knowing you but ....
I almost missed that!
"If you're going to die, get on with it. But I'd rather you started shooting."
And really, when did Lothan ever take 2 rounds to buff! :-D And I've been doing this wrong. The elemental gets 2 slams!
The elemental roils around the dragon, grabbing and twisting limbs and buffeting wings.
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 .... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21 .... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Distracted while delivering her retort to Lothan, the druid doesn't notice the dragon's breath until it billows around her. She draws an unhealthy lungful and coughs bitterly.
29 hp remain. I still have to figure out her action.
Vendric Barsett |
Vendric takes a five foot step to gain sight of the Dragon and quickly tries to recall any info he might know about it.

Iolar Eitilt |
Haste! Elemental gets a third attack.
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 .... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Dripping corrosive slime Iolar channels her rage into magic and draws into the air a veritable king of eagles. The golden-winged bird is nearly as large as the dragon itself and slams into its far side with raking talons and tearing beak.

Zoltan the Crippled |
Not sure if haste is still on...
Reflex and haste: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8
Zoltan thought he had managed to get out of a tight spot and was quite happy for himself, until his surroundings suddenly filled with a caustic gas that tore at his lungs and twisted him over.
His charred arms flail at the wisps of gas as he retreats near to Lothan, coughing achingly.
His mouth tightens in a fearful snarl as he finally emerges from the shroud of pain surrounding him, arms extended as he channels the gods' will on this plane: "Let Your mysteries unfold here on this plane!" he shouts and a wave surges to all allies around him.
Casting Blessing of Fervor. Works on the elemental and eagle too!
each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).
Increase its speed by 30 feet.
Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.
Darklands Archivist |
Round 1
Vendric hits the dragon with several bombs, blood spurting and scales exploding all over the room.
Round 2
The elemental whirls around and lands a blow on the snout. Iolar summons a giant eagle that promptly chomps into the heavily injured monster.
Lothan and Zoltan, the dragon is damn-near dead already. You still want to cast more buffs?
Lothan Robgard |
Man oh man. Didn't see all these touch attacks coming. Will pass on the Cat's Grace then and just attack.
"If you're going to die, get on with it. But I'd rather you started shooting."
"Alright, alright, already. Just make sure you're clear because I may shoot you," he says kiddingly... although, it's difficult to tell at this point.
Keep the move but attack this time.

Zoltan the Crippled |
Thanks!
As he extends his arms, Zoltan notices how the beast got torn by Vendrick's alchemy. With a smile, he switches his movement to tap into the fire of the world, unleashing it forth.
The flames roar and roll forward, licking at the dragon's exposed belly.
Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 194d8 ⇒ (5, 4, 7, 3) = 19

Vendric Barsett |
As the Dragon falls and the immediate danger passes. Vendric's mind is filled with thoughts of studying and harvesting anything he could use to help his alchemical research. But he pushes those thoughts aside for now. "We should continue our pursuit. They may have expected the Dragon to delay us more than it did and I don't want to give them anymore time to prepare for us."
Lothan Robgard |
Maybe we should search. We might find something useful.
"Well that was... awesome. I really thought we were toast on that one, fellas." He then remembers Iolar, "Oh! And lady. Nice work." Lothan will then take a moment to search the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Lothan Robgard |
With a look of frustration, "C'mon, man. It's a dragon for crying out loud! Don't they have like huge treasure with lots of coin and all that? I need the money, people!" He yells after the disappearing bunch. Seeing as his words have fallen on deaf ears - mainly due to the fact he's the only one left in the room - he can't help but sigh. "Fine. I swear, I would have to hook up with the worst bunch of...," he says to himself, stopping in mid-sentence as he glances around a moment. "Just a quick look around. Shouldn't take too long."
Still gonna see if there's anything at all to plunder. :)
Darklands Archivist |
Through the southeast door, you find a makeshift prison cell, 20 feet in diameter. You see no one here.
Lothan Robgard |
Will take it all if possible. With my muleback cords my light load is at 200lbs. I'm roughly around 140lbs of weight(Added all this stuff in herolabs). The bows can actually go within my efficient quiver, so that puts me around 130lbs actually. Let me know if that's okay.
Lothan Robgard |
Surprised to see Iolar, "Where did you...? Never mind. You know, what you call fooling around - which doesn't surprise me by the way - I call finding SHALELU'S AND KAERISHIEL'S GEAR, sweetheart! Yeah, that's right, that's what the Lothan found," he states, obviously quite proud of himself. "Personally, though, I don't call that fooling around. I could explain to you my take on fooling around but I'm not so sure this is the time or place," he says with a wry grin and a wink. "Anyway, if I have their gear, then that means they're here as well. Let's just hope they're still alive to be able to use it."
Darklands Archivist |
The elemental breaks open the door. On the other side is a circular, domed room just like the other, with a circular bench in the middle. A stench overwhelms you as you see a troglodyte blocking entry. Kaerishiel and Shalelu lay slumped against the wall on the opposite side of the room, both of them beaten and barely conscious.
Surprise round
The troglodyte swings a morningstar at the elemental and misses.
Everyone make a DC 18 Fort save or become sickened
Zoltan gets a surprise round action.
Iolar Eitilt |
Fort saves:
Iolar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Elemental: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 Can elementals be sickened anyway?
Eagle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Is haste still up?
The elemental pushes forward and swirls into its whirlwind form.
DC 18 reflex save to avoid being picked up. Separate DC 18 reflex save to avoid 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 points of damage.
If successful it carries the trog back into the room. If it makes its save, the elemental still moves into the room's center.
Any windows?
Iolar grips her staff and waits to follow the elemental. Delay actions
Lothan Robgard |
Lothan looks around as he fires at the trog, wondering where the rest of his buddies are.

That's just pathetically sad.
AC 23; Hp's Hp's 62/68; Gravity bow
Gravity bow has a 5 minute duration, so just let me know when it ends. Not sure how long it's been since fighting the dragon 'til now.
Iolar Eitilt |
We intentionally moved fast after the dragon. You must have plenty of time left on gravity bow. On the other hand, we've got to be nearing the end of the elemental's run. DM Ludomancer?
The elemental drops the trog at the room's center and rains hammer-like blows at it.
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 .... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 .... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Iolar darts into the room , trying to spear the trog with her staff.

Darklands Archivist |
Round 1
Zoltan fires his crossbow at the monster and misses.
Round 2
Lothan fires two arrows and both miss. The elemental drops the creature and slams its arms at it, hitting it once. Iolar pokes it with her staff, but the blow is deflected by the monster's hide. Vendric attacks with teeth and claws and bites into the troglodyte.
The troglodyte stands up and moves over to where it dropped its weapon.
PCs up.
Vendric and the elemental get an AoO
The elemental has one more round.
Haste isn't still active.
Lothan Robgard |
LOL!!! Oh my gosh I'm totally rolling on this one! ONE freaking trog and we can't even hit it! So freaking pathetic! Oh man this totally cracks me up! We take down a DRAGON in like... 3 rounds and here this trog is practically saying: "Hit me, I dare you." AND WE CAN'T! LOL!!!
Lothan is still curious as to the fantastic special abilities of this creature and how it continues to find away to avoid getting hit WHILE AT THE SAME TIME acting as if its completely unconcerned about them. "What are you up to, possible super creature thing? Maybe you're some kind of amazing destructo beast hidden in sheep's clothing like that one lady. We'll see." Lothan fires away, hoping to actually hit something other than the wall next to it.

Iolar Eitilt |
The elemental tries a downward smash, crosscut combination and then dissolves into a dozen small whirlwinds which scatter across the room/
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29.... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21.... damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Iolar closes with the trog , raining blows on it with her staff.
Staff, shillelagh, sickened: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 16 .... damage: 2d6 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 + 1 - 2 = 5

Forgot sickened condition last round. From your description I assume she missed anyway. And the miss-fest continues for Iolar. At least the elemental finished strong.
Zoltan the Crippled |
Zoltan winces as the trog keeps avoiding his companions' attacks. He moves to have a direct line of effect on the creature, then summons a long chain made of flickering rings that tingle with an eerie echo.
The chain lashes at the trog, clawing at his face to blind him.

Round 2
Zoltan creates a chain of force out of thin air uses it to rake the troglodyte across the eyes, blinding it.
Round 3
The elemental pummels the blinded foe with two blows before dissipating. Vendric tosses a bomb hits the monster squarely in the chest, ripping the skin off its ribcage. Lothan finishes the fight, shooting and arrow through its face.
End of combat.
Lothan Robgard |
"Wait a sec." Lothan then moves over to the wall where the two elves lay battered. He takes a couple of vials out of his pack and bends down next to Shalelu. He then glances from one to the other. "Man what did they do to you two?" he says, shaking his head at the scene. "Alright, gorgeous - because I know you really are - open up and drink this; you're gonna need it." He then pours it down her throat. He then takes the other one and moves over to Kaerishiel and makes him drink as well.
Cure light potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Shalelu
Cure light potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Kaerishiel
Seeing how the first one barely had much effect, he gives another one to Shalelu.
Cure light potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
That's better. Didn't like that 1 business. I got 2 left.
