Lothan Robgard |
Lothan looks to be contemplating something just before, "Black? Ebony? You all really think so? I don't know, I've always kinda thought they were a nice deep purple-ish, bluish. Hm. Anyway, alright, library guy, have you seen any elves within like the past 5 or 10 minutes that might've come inside? And if you have, do you remember which way they went?"
Lothan Robgard |
Turning to the others, "Well, either we're the first, or they beat us here a while back. Should we just check this place out? Or head back out and see if I can locate some tracks? Otherwise, I got nothing. I am at a loss in this place." Glancing around the library, "I got no idea even where to begin," he says, shrugging.
Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar's head pivots back and forth between the scholar and the party. The motion is rather like a mynah bird considering a shiny prize,
"We have no time to linger here now, if we are to save our comrades. We must find the drow."
"Revered Eloquan. We will return someday to drink in the knowledge here in repose. Thank you for your gracious time."
"Let us try the gate room. Maybe the drow are using this place as a way station to somewhere else."
Lothan Robgard |
"Disguised? Oh heck no. I doubt it. Invisible, maybe. But I don't see why they would even care one way or another to be honest. What I don't get is... if they did come through here, why didn't they just kill everyone?"
Iolar Eitilt |
"The elves here tolerate the drow. They are not alarmed. So the drow have not attacked them. The drow need them for something."
"But that will not help our allies. I thought the drow would go to those places that were important to them in our Celwynian. But they have not."
"There is nothing to do but go back to where we entered this Celwynian and try to follow their trail."
Lothan Robgard |
Sighing, "Alright, I guess, back where we started then." As soon as they make their way back, Lothan will attempt to see if he can find any tracks left by the drow.
Survival: 1d20 + 12 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 8 = 25 Or possibly take 10 for 30. Or 20 for 40. Whatever is applicable. Take 10 at the least if we can.
Lothan Robgard |
Shaking his head, "Nothing. It all just leads back to the library. I guess we go back and look around there because I have no idea what else to do." Lothan immediately heads back to the library and looks within the entire building for anything that might give them a clue as to how to proceed.
Back to the library and check out every room.
Darklands Archivist |
As you start looking through stuff, Eloquan finds you. "Oh, your back. It's nice to see that in the face of the coming apocalypse, there are still those interested in broadening their knowledge."
Searching the library reveals some recently handled books. One set of books discusses in detail the mutability of the shadow realm. Next to those, another set of books concern the heavens and what lies beyond, including stars, planets, and meteors. One of these books even describes powerful magic that may be used to manipulate those objects.
After some time, Eloquan finds you searching through these tomes. "You know, those books have been quite popular lately. I couldn't tell you who's been looking through them, though, but I suspect it has something to do with the Azlant humans responsible for the approaching destruction."
Iolar Eitilt |
"We'll ask them when we find them," Iolar says flatly. "We are no closer to finding the captured elves. Stay here. I will search the city by air for them."
Without waiting for comment, Iolar hurries outside and casts herself skywards, her wings catch air and she screams victory as she climbs.
Use 'small', that is normal-sized eagle form. Spont-cast bull's strength as Summon nature's ally 2. To get 1d3 ⇒ 1 eagles. Cast talk with animals. She wants the other eagle in line 100' to her left. Aerial search for drow. Will not approach if she spots any, but will immediately return and get the others.

"Ah, I don't think so," Eloquan perks up at Zoltan's apparent interest. "This 'Earthfall', as you call it, is being brought about by the aboleths to punish the humans for their hubris. Especially those Azlanti." The librarian snaps his fingers. "In fact, one of them takes residence this very city. Talgoren is his name. If want to learn about the coming doom, I suggest you ask him. There's another human, as well, though this one is of Thassilon. Ekardani she's called, and she's a chief representative of Alaznist. She may know something too."

Eloquan directs you to a small mansion a short way south of the library. When you get close to the builing, a somewhat muted alarm sounds in the area. Moments later, a woman in wizardly clothing floats out the front door, wielding a fiery ranseur, which she holds pointed at you, as if she's ready shoot its fire at you. "Who are you?" she shrieks. "You were sent by Karzoug, weren't you? I won't let you work your havoc here!"
Lothan Robgard |
Lothan puts up his bow and throws his hands up. "Whoa! Hold on there, little lady, let's not get to hasty. No need to get all weapon pointy at us. Now, we don't know nothing about no Karzoug or whatever; we're just here to find some stinkin' drow... that's it... nothing more. I don't suppose you've seen them around, have you? My friends here say they're blackish. Me? They strike me as a deep purple. Either way, they aren't normal colored elves. And yes, they are elves, just not typical ones. Name's Lothan by the way," he winks, grinning, "resident pretty boy. Just ask bird-lady, she'll tell you," he says with a scoundrel like grin, nodding arrogantly.
Lothan Robgard |
His grin turns into a questioning look before he simply shrugs it off. "Well, you see, they're the bad guys. I think they're trying to destroy the world. But I'm not too spot on with all the details, though. I just know they're the bad guys." He looks around at the others, shrugging. "Maybe one of them can explain it better," he motions to the party, "I don't really do backstory to well." Looking back to the others once again, "Bird-lady? Z? V?"
Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar barks. It is a short mix of laugh and outraged gurgle. Then she recovers her voice.
"Human, have you no courtesy, no regard for your hosts? Let me tell you the naked truth. The life of man is nasty, brutish, and short. Your bones will be mouldering in the ground to feed the trees and worms while I am still green and vibrant."
With that Iolar is ready to leave. "Come." She says to the others. "We must keep searching."
Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar bristles. When she speaks her voice is brittle, "We have to keep searching. Let us go."
I've no idea where to go, except that the drow would hang out in young Celwynian where they hung out in our Celwynian. So let's try the Academy or the alchemist's.
Lothan Robgard |
As they take their leave, "Man, what a crank. Makes you look like a big ol' softy, bird-lady," he says with a wry grin, winking. All kidding aside, "You know, I can't believe no one has seen those dang Drow. Either these people just flat out don't wanna help us or their perception is so 'great' they couldn't see the sun if it fell on them. Heck, I don't know, I got no idea where they could be. But like V said, they gotta be here somewhere. I say we just try the next building we come to."
Lothan doesn't know squat about this place but the Academy sounds fine to me.
Iolar Eitilt |
Iolar stares at the wizards moving about. "Everyone here has trouble remembering the drow cleary. Maybe they are using memory altering magic. We may be facing a powerful mage. Be careful."
Then she strides toward the Academy doors.
Yeah, let's check out the inside.
