Daina glances between Woki and Raun. I feel as if I'm babysitting. Except the children could kill me.

Gorkhan creeps toward the door, ears straining, as the others chatter behind him. Head to the door, he can make out the sound of a several voices - two, at least, although there may be a third with them - outside.

" ... damn dwarven focus. You know Vackus has that creepy nikaal running some of the slaves through sparring matches? It's been full dark three hours now and they're still in the practice hall. I swear one of 'em got himself run through just to have a nap."

Another voice laughs. Judging from the sound, the men have passed by the door and are making their way south.

"Lucky he hasn;t got them fighting that tembo they brought in yesterday. Thing near tore the feylaar to pieces before they got it off ... had to call one of the centurion's to wish up some healing to keep the feylaar alive - you can see it in there, still nursing the wounds."

There's the sound of a staff or rod striking a barred door, followed by a deep growl and more laughter. The voices of the men fade - they've turned a corner.

Easing open the door, Gorkhan creeps forward, peering north and south into a wide corridor. The walls and ceiling are close-set brick. Clean sand, freshly swept, covers the floors. Rushlight torches fill sconces every 40 feet or so along the hall, providing dim light and casting off a strong, acrid scent that fails to mask the stench of beasts, men and old blood.

To the south, the passing guards appear to have disappeared around the corner. A handful of cell doors line the hall in that direction. To the north, the hall opens up into a circular chamber with exits in all directions. The center of the circular chamber is a vast pit, its black depths leading to the belgoi's altar chamber far below.

Woki looks up...and up...and up at the half-giant, Raun, and answers with a shake of the head, "This one not know Zok. What tribe-sept-clan Zok?"

Meanwhile, as Nnn'tkklik'l brings Woki into the mental clutch, the halfling's thoughts prove much clearer than Woki's clumsy attempts at speaking Common, <<Ah, much better. I confess I have not yet mastered the shared language you taller individuals use.>>

Woki inhales deeply as the door is cracked open, the halfling's nose twitching with each dusty aroma. <<Desperation, compliance, and surrender. I smell all three in abundance. Mayhaps some will rise up given the oppurtunity but they might as easily fight to retain the existance that they know over one of uncertainty. She looks around at the others, realizing how little she knows about any of them from before their escape. Daina had at least told them some...

<<Well if your nose is sharp enough to actually smell the corruption than feel free to be our tracker. What can you do anyways?>>

Imagine trying to eavesdrop on the party. With how we switch back and forth between audible speech and telepathy it has to be so horribly inconsistent.

Moving cautiously, you slip out into the hallway and head south, stopping to peer into the chambers that you pass. A grate at eye level lets you see into each. The northernmost chamber on the east side of the hall contains barrels of sand and other powders, perhaps talc and lime, crowd the small room. Peeking into the room to the south you see a four-armed feylaar, its fur still matted and scabbed over with old wounds. It growls and flings sand as you duck out of sight.

On the west side of the hall, the north chamber holds a pair of sleeping human slaves. Conscripts, most likely, judging from the lack of muscle-tone. To the south, human woman with close-cropped blonde hair is doing push-ups. She doesn't seem to notice as you pass.

The hall turns east then, narrowing again to a width that will force Raun to squeeze. A branch to the south appears to open up into a wider space, with the entrance to another dimly-lit chamber barely visible on the other side. Moving quietly as a silkwyrm, Gorkhan tip-toes to the east, where the hall turns north again and opens into a mess hall filled with long tables of wood and bone. Four black-robed templars -- including one with the bronze bands of a centurion stitched into his sleeves -- are seated within, recently-filled cups sitting on the table in front of them.

As the group tenses before making war with the templars, Woki moves over to Raun and reaches into a pouch. The halfling's finger comes back smeared with something dark-colored before Woki dabs the substance on Raun's leg and mutters a series of birdcall-sounding jibberish*. Finished, the halfling pats the half-giant on the knee and whispers, "This one give tall-tall one strength of big scaled beast."

Daina will begin summoning a monster (summon monster 1) as the group charges in.

For a moment the hall is filled with the melodic words of Woki's prayer and the harsher, arcane syllables of Daina's spell. Then Raun's bare feet beginning pounding a different rhythm as she barrels down the corridor toward the templars' mess hall, Grit and his tigone following close behind.

The noise gives the black-robed priests a moment to react - escapes aren't terribly rare here. Three have readied iron-tipped spears, while their leader, a centurion, has drawn an iron sword. As you enter, he calls over his shoulder to the north, where an open door leads into another large room.

"Intruders! Intruders are upon us!"

~~~~~~~~oo~~~~~~~~
The templars weren't trying to hide their presence, and they rolled well enough on their Perception check to hear at least some of you coming down the hall, so no surprise round. However, Gorkhan can make a Stealth check to see if he remains undetected at the start of his action.
Only Grit and Gorkhan beat the templars' initiative, so they can act now, then the templars will act. Then all of you, including Grit and Gorkhan, will act for "Round 2". It's functionally the same - no one loses actions and I won't count a round off of spell durations - and we get everyone bunched up in a group acting before the opposition.
Illumination: The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.
Grit's tigone leaps into the room, tearing at the closest templar as his his mul master ducks past Raun and moves along the western wall before casting his spell. Rocks and sand rain down on the templars, the torrent echoing through the halls like an avalanche.
Reacting with a curse, the bitten templar stabs the tigone with his spear. (5 damage) Gorkhan, who had slipped into the room like a shadow, cuts the man down, then vaults over the corpse toward the templar centurion. (Gorkhan does not expend his psionic focus)
Holding his shield high, the centurion steps back over the rubble, blocking a retaliatory strike by Gorkhan. The centurion grabs the bronze medallion around his neck and intones a prayer to Kalak.
Daina and the tigone shake off the spell (Woki, out of sight, also is unaffected), but Grit, Gorkhan, Raun and Nnn'tkklik'l are suddenly filled with waves of pain. (You are under the effects of howling agony. Basically, you take -2 to AC, attacks, damage and Reflex saves and have to make a Concentration check to cast spells. You can ignore the effects for 1 round if you spend a move action screaming)
The two templars to the east advance, calling on Kalak for aid. One stabs at Gorkhan (dealing 5 damage) while the other picks his way through the rubble to stab unsuccessfully at the tigone.
You're up! Note, Daina will need to make a Concentration check to finish casting her summons. Also, I don't have the difficult terrain from Grit's spell marked, but it pretty well covers everything north and east of Raun.
Grit climbs over the table and moves to stand by the lead Templar, attacking with his scimitar. ]
Steel Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 191d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Female Half Elf Arcanist 9 | AC 14, Touch 14, FF 11 | HP 68/68 | F +7, R +8, W +7 (All +4 vs psionics) | Init +5 | Perc +15
Concentration: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Not entirely sure what the DC is, but that check makes most DCs for concentration. Tell me if it's otherwise.
A white and blue kes'trekel erupts from between the planes, tearing at the centurion from behind him.
Attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 +1 damage to each hit if he's evil.
Then Daina moves back towards the corridor she heard the noise from, raising a hand and preparing for an attack. Hold standard action to cast (probably a fireball) if anything hostile shows up.
Raun, you are currently flanking the centurion with the eagle. Kill it.
Female Halfling Shaman (Witch doctor) 10 | AC 17(23), Touch 17, FF 13(19) | HP 68 | F +5, R +11, W +14, +2 vs fear and poison | Init +4 | Perc +18(+20)
Probably the Concentration check for being affected by a non-damaging spell while casting, which is: DC of the affecting spell + spell level. So anywhere from DC 14 to 17 (Wis mod from +1 to +4) unless they have a crazy Wisdom score.
M Mul - Dwarf and Human, raised by dwarves Druid 10 | AC 26, Touch 15, FF 24 | HP 110/110+0 temp | F +14, R +9, W +15, +2 vs. disease, Immune to poison | Init +3 | Perception +17, Darkvision
from memory, casting with ongoing damage is DC10 + the damage+ the spell level.
DC for the Concentration checks is the DC of the original spell, which was 15.
ThriKreen Mender Vitalist (Life Leech) 10 | AC 16* Touch 13 Flat-Footed 13* | HP 90/90 | F +13* R +8 W +14 | Init +3 | Perc +19 (*=check traits)
Nnn will try to pull an enemy that looks least damaged into the collective after letting out a terrible clicking noise from his mandibles combined with a high-pitched keen.
Gonna go ahead and have Raun delay so we can proceed.
Following after the retreating centurion, Gorkhan lashes out with his bone blade, plunging it deep into the templar's upper thigh. He twists the blade as he pulls it free, trailing a spray of blood. (Gorkhan expends his focus using Assassin's Strike, but it is not a critical hit.)
Staggered, the centurion strikes back out of reflex but Gorkhan side-steps the slashing sword.
Grit moves in, slashing the centurion with his own steel blade as the tigone launches itself at one of the other templars. The black-robed priest fends off several attacks but is caught by an ensorceled claw, dropping unconscious as it saps his strength.
Daina summons a shining kes'trek'el, which slashes at the bleeding centurion, then moves back to the southern corridor, staring into the darkness.
Brushing aside Nnn'tkklik'l's attempt to bring him into the collective, the badly-wounded centurion calls on the sorcerer-king again before spitting a sizzling glob of saliva on his iron sword. Glowing with power, the blade slides unerringly toward Gorkhan, carving a scorched gash across his chest. (23 damage to Gorkhan altogether, taking away all his temporary HP and causing 8 damage after that.)
The remaining templar to the south steps over the body of his fallen comrade and stabs ineffectually at the tigone.
In the outer corridor, Daina spots movement to the south. She flings her fireball, illuminating a pair of scale-armored warriors and a robed woman.
The blast catches both men directly, but the woman takes cover around the corner of the passage, taking minimal damage. As the flames fade, Daina catches a glimpse of the warriors' gray, leathery flesh and glowing eyes - they are walking dead, armed and armored as gladiators. Both appear barely scorched by the fire. Hefting vicious bone tridents, they advance.
Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.
The kes'trek'el continues to assault the centurioun.
Attacks: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 241d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 +1 to each if he's evil.
"Undead!" Daina screams loudly. Seeing that the rest of the party is distracted, this might actually be a good time for her well used web spell. She throws the web up into the air, casting the spell and manifesting the magic to entangle the new enemies.
20 foot radius. Definitely want to catch both of the undead, I'll try to catch the robed woman as well if I can (not sure how cover would work with this). DC 18 for all the saves and checks associated.
ThriKreen Mender Vitalist (Life Leech) 10 | AC 16* Touch 13 Flat-Footed 13* | HP 90/90 | F +13* R +8 W +14 | Init +3 | Perc +19 (*=check traits)
Attacking the same templar again, Nnn'tkklik'l reaches out once more mentally.
- Will try to add the templar into the collective by expending focus as a move action (DC 19 will negates).
- If that does work, Drain Health as a standard (15hp, Will DC 19 halves, save at a -2).
- If that does not work, will attempt to add it into the collective again as a standard action (DC 19 will negates).
If health is successfully drained, It'll go to Gorkhan. Any remaining can be distributed if others are missing a few HP.
