Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Welcome to the Dark Heresy: Oremor Affliction Campaign! This thread will serve as the out of character posting for present and future players for the duration of the campaign.

Please use this posting to discuss Dark Heresy rules, character advancement/concepting, and other assorted Blather.

Below are listed the GM's formatting preferences for posting on the IC thread:

1. Please post all OOC information, such as public asides to the GM, clarifications on game rules and actions, and results of die rolls in OOC tags. Involved discussion of character advancement, non-game associated dialogue, and lengthy rules discussion should be instead posted to this, the OOC thread.
2. Please post descriptions of character actions in standard text.
3. Please post character dialogue inside quotation marks.
4. Spoilers/private asides for the GM or other players should be posted in spoiler tags as needed.
5. We will be using Invisible Castle for all die rolling. Please use your character's first name as the "Character" name when rolling. Rolls, as noted above, should be posted into OOC tags.
6. If you would prefer not to perform the BBCode gymnastics needed to link from Invisible Castle, the GM will gladly roll for you and post the results.

There are only two rules for this campaign:

1. Have fun!
2. Hiatus Rules. If you are going on a hiatus of three days or less, please post this information to this OOC thread. I will gladly 'ghost' your character for a short period of time, as the storyline allows, remarking on his actions as needed to continue in-game action for the other players of the campaign. If you believe you will be unable to post for an extended period of time, and would like to remain in the game, please post this information to this OOC thread. If possible within the storyline, I will provide a reasonable reason for the absence of your character. Or, if needed, control your character during the events to come until such a time as you can post again. Finally, if you wish to withdraw from the game for any reason, please post to this OOC thread so that your character can be retired, more than likely in a suitably gruesome 40K-esque bloodbath in the next scene, so that another person can assume your slot in the game. Withdrawing will not hurt my feelings, we just want as committed and interested a group of acolytes as we can muster!

Let the Inquisition begin. The Emperor protects.

It is very unlikely that I will post on Saturdays; that day I am not near a computer.

hehe; lol; just went to post and found out I forgot to make my toons alias; doh.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Val, what I said was not out loud. If it was it would be in quotes as per this discussion thread.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

kk; am wondering how to do a ooc tag; did you use them?

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

OOC tags are pretty easy, Val, just write this without the * inside the brackets around whatever it is that is in OOC.

[*ooc] Words here [*/ooc]

I have a Question for you Rookseye, Uriah being a void-born psyker and with his background, is he more sensitive to entering and leaving the Warp?

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

I will be out of town tomarrow. So I will either post late that night or sometime on Tuesday.

I would say yes, anyone who lives most of their life riding the currents of the immaterium would have something of a "gut-sense" regarding transiting the Warp.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Thanx, Rookseye

I have never used IC to roll the dice, so how do link up to and use it in the pbp.

I rolled by IC, but I was not sure how link it up

It is fairly easy to link. On the Invisible Castle page where you get your result, copy the text next to the light blue word "Link" into the following BBCode tag, like this without asterisks:

[*url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2275988/]Your text describing the result here, in this case, "Result = 50"[*/url]

The above roll would thus look like this:

Result = 50

Please feel free to practice in this thread if you want.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

thanx, I figured it out.

Hey Rookseye, I was looking through my home world skills and I forgot one: Speak Language(ship's dialect). I added it to Uriah's profile.

OK, I'll make sure to add it to the sheet on the wiki, too.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

I never used IC myself. Always keep a set of dice near my computer. I will try and practice using it myself sometime later.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Wow nice way for me to start off using IC. Rolls better than I do.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Come on Val, quoting the Sicilian in the The Princess Bride. What is the Imperium coming to?

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Val, when posting the tags, don't forget to take out the asterisk, those asterisks were in place just for the example I used above so you could see the formatting.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Radavel,
A hand cannon has these stats:
class: pistol, rg.:35m, rof: s/-/-, dam: 1d10+4 impact, pen: 2, clip: 5, rld: 2full.
If you have any questions on any of the above just post them.

/ooc gm; please roll my initiative and shots; thanks

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Val, you posted on the wrong site.
Rogue Trader has been released.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Remember Radavel, if you hit rolling a 10 for damage, you roll to hit again and if you hit, you roll damage again and keep rolling damage as long as you keep rolling 10's

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Sorry for the delay in posting tonight, unexpected overtime at the office.

Val/Ishmael: The IC board is over this way: Oremor Affliction IC

Rad/Johnnie: Lorm is correct, you may be able to roll an additional damage die for rolling a ten, make another BS test, and if successful, roll damage again. You repeat this process for each success and 10 you roll. This is known as Righteous Fury in Dark Heresy nomenclature.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Rad please send me an email at rookseye at yahoo dot com. I have something I want to send to you that might help out.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

I'm pulling the awfulness of the overnight shift tonight, guys. Initiative order and start of first round of combat is up in the IC thread.

I will be posting again sometime around 8-9 PM EDT on the 10th after some much needed sleep.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

One correction Rookseye, if you make the confirmation roll for Rightous Fury, you can keep rolling damage as long as you roll a 10. You do not have to keep rolling to hit.(DH pg 195)

Lorm is correct. Following the second 'confirmation' roll, each time you roll maximum damage (5 on d5 or 10 on d10) you may immediately roll damage again until you do not roll max damage.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

doh; was looking on the pbp wondering where my post was; hehe; silly me. Posted my second round actions.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Okay was checking out the FFG site. They have the Radicals Handbook set to be released sometime in Nov. So get your order in early.

I also picked up a Rogue Traders book. Very well written.

On a side note. Does anyone know if the guy playing Albrek is still in the game?

Also Rad,

How is clean up going on your end? Haven't seen anything in the papers, or the news. You doing okay?

Dark Archive

Clean up's kinda depressing after the Corebook turned into mush. :-(

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Yeah, I would like to see a post from Albrek soon, he seemed to be pretty interested in the game. If not, I'll just move on and ghost him until something else is figured out.

If he is indeed out, I'll post again on the recruiting thread. If any of you have someone who would like to assume the character, that would be fine too. Worst case scenario he will be NPC'ed until a solution can be found.

Sorry to hear things are still so lousy, Rad. Like I said before, though, I might be able to help with a temporary solution. Just email me.

Also, once the Radical's Handbook is released, it will be available for character options. I plan on getting my hands on a copy as well.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Rad,

I hope the clean up will go quickly, and your life will return to normal soon. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you.

Rook,

Sounds good with the Radicals Handbook. From the previews it looks like its going to be a great expansion. Hopefully we will see a return of Albrek. If not I will keep an eye out for another player.

I will wait til the next round before posting my next action. Since Rad still has a half action to use.

Dark Archive

Have a temp solution to my corebook problem; something we can't discuss on the boards.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

OK, sounds good Rad.

I'll try to finish round #2 later this afternoon, Invisible Castle seems to be down at the moment.

I pre-ordered my Radical's Handbook as well. Should be a great fit for this campaign.

Dark Archive

Waiting for Radical's Handbook myself.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

I think all of us are waiting with baited breath for the Radical's Handbook.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Rogue Trader arrived today, FFG games sure makes some impressive books!

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Wow I love IC! Rolls better than I do. Can't believe I already rolled another 1 for an awareness check!

Rook,

Loving your game so far. Has incredible atmosphere!

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

I have been enjoying the game. You have captured the feel of the 40k universe.

Rogue Traders are scary. You can start the game with a Hell or bolt pistol or a bolter. the base roles for characteristics are 2d10+25.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

I'm glad you are enjoying it. We have barely scratched the surface, though, I'm hoping to have you guys for the long haul. There is a great story to be told here.

Glad you like IC, Bal! It made my adversaries seem very inept tonight. Ishmael is a lucky cleric.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

I am always up for a long campaign. I am a sucker for good roleplay and character development.

As for Ishmael, I am glad he has complete faith in the Emperor. Savalos's faith is in the steel beam he is hiding behind.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Ishmael might be all in religious fervour and bravery; but Val is totally freaking out, hehe, wishing he had more armor; cover; a grenade; hehe, YIKES! If they try to throw another one, guess I am gonna try my Hank Aaron impression, or with a hammer; would that be more like crockette?

Please excuse my lack of posts at the moment. Real life is intruding a bit and I am only just managing to post on my other pages at the moment. If its ok, please carry on and I will join in asap, probably in the next day or two. Real life should be sorted out by then!

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Good to see your still around Dark. Hope to see you in the game soon.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Thanks for posting Dr. Dark, I'm very glad you are still with us. I will keep ghosting Albrek as needed until your able to rejoin. With a full time job that necessitates frequent OT and two small children, I know exactly where you are coming from.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Real Life has to come first. I am glad to hear from you and welcome back.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

it gonna be hard for me to post on the back end of the week as my network card doesnt work now since I did computer updates; silly updates; sheesh.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Rookseye, I have been loving the descriptions of the action. It makes it fun to read and gives the feel an edge of danger and adrenaline.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Thanks, Lorm. One of the best parts about PbP games is that you get to consider the action and descriptions a little bit more than you would around the table before relating things to the players. In a written medium you can generate a narrative that can be more evocative, and it has the added bonus of allowing a person to reference back to what has gone before if they don't recall a particular detail.

As handy as Invisible Castle is, I do miss the rattle of dice on the table, though!
