Alessandro let's it all wash over him. If he focuses too closely, he'll miss the big picture. Hold on loosely, but don't let go... that was the trick.
Knowing Alyssa's extraordinary perception abilities and that she was keenly aware of him, his chuckle and whisper are nearly silent. So, we back Radek then. Not only proving the "docent" had a point, but emphasizing it when the rogue in question takes a seat at council. Perhaps an enemy of Fanchon, but she will go away as she is far from home and with no reason to stay.
Do all aspire to be Prince, dearest? Is there some city where you'd care to preside? I can think of only one for me, but the path would be too arduos... final death lurking behind every corner. And, of course there is decorum and loyalty, so many in line before the lowly merchant boy.
After a slight pause, he chuckles again.

don't really tell anyone but i am too terrified inside to move a muscle. Since yesterday's meeting i am really trying not to get myself in big trouble Lady Selina has been wanting to share a taste of my blood since yesterday.
Resuming in normal tone
But this composure comes probably from the fact that i saw everyone and everything i hold dear lost in the fall of my city and i am the only one remaining he says with a touch of sadness in his voice

"Remind me later and I shall regale you with the tales of both Alejandro Prince in Exile of Jerusalem and Alexander the Deposed Prince of Paris".
"Aye."
Once it becomes clear that the elder of the Tremere is playing the two against each other for a position, Andrew feels that they are indeed fully embroiled in intrigue....most often of their own devising....
Andrew nods his head as he comprehends the situation likely each of them asked the elder and each was granted permission and neither was told of the other's status, a lie of omission.....
Andrew crosses himself thankful to not be in the dark embrace of such....

Luca looks at Adria, a calm look on his face.
"I had a simple life before today. Not one without its twists and turns, in fact I thought I had dug myself so far into the earth that I might suffocate..."
He pauses reminiscing over his past. He looks at his hands, paler than usual and still hasn't felt the need to fill his lungs with air. He chuckles to himself, his hand clenching into a fist.
"Survival above all else was it?"
Luca looks at Yenshun directly for the first time since this ordeal. Really looking at, and accepting what had happened.
"Teach me the ways. I have no wish to perish, even in this...state. I will learn and survive as I have always done. I will become Gangrel."

Only one Cainite steps forward Alexander of Clan Ventrue, "Tell me mighty Goratrix, how fares my city? I do hope you have taken good care of it along with my Childe. There are shadows in the Long Night that Methuselahs cast, even when cast down, especially when they yet exist..."
Goratrix turns to Alexander and grins, "Ah the former Prince. I shall give the current Prince your regards when next we meet. By all means, I invite you to visit the city of lights. I would welcome the chance to rectify any mistakes of the past".
Alexander grins, "I find it interesting that Prince Geoffrey would send a fool to represent his Court here at such an important occasion. No doubt all of your counsel is equally as wise as that decision".
"No doubt, the proof is plain for all around you to see. I sit at the right hand of the Prince of Paris, you sit in Venice...
Is there anything else?"
Mistress Fanchon speaks again, "If that is what you wish Lord Goratrix. I shall... remember this".
Goratrix retorts, "Indeed you shall. Indeed you shall".
Goratrix's face disappears.

Antoine whispers back to Vitaliano, "Nay. If he wished to make a request of this Council he would have shown up in person. These usurpers are a more ruthless lot than I had ever realized, I am now sorry we did not strangle them in the cradle when we had the chance..."
-------------------------
Alyssa whispers back to Alessandro, "She may indeed go away, if she does 2/3rds of the Tremere may go with her.
No, I have no such aspirations, I too am far down the line for such a path. This Council is the most effective means to obtain power and so I have taken a gamble to com here as Mithras' voice".

Narses Court - A Private Room - Xing Shi
Xing you see Kratos and Alejandro take another private room. The rest of the assembled Cainites enter the largest meeting room and all goes silent on this floor.
You pad to the door where Kratos and Alejandro have entered and listen in on their conversation...
Kratos - "We should take precautions from eavesdroppers".
Alejandro - "Nonsense. The majority of those in attendance are in the meeting called by Narses and the few stragglers downstairs".
Kratos - "You do not appreciate the gravity of what I am about to share with you".
Alejandro - "Enlighten me”.
Kratos – ”After Gareth deposed Alfonso to obtain control of Constantinople, I was left in possession of a number of manuscripts one of which dated back to the time before Christ. This manuscript was the most fascinating and the most disturbing and is the reason I am here. Initially I shared the finding with a Salubri who had come to Gareth’s Court to ascertain the truth of the tale. A week later that same Salubri sought to send me to the Final Death without any explanation.
To say the least I was disturbed by this and felt the incident perhaps gave merit to the accusations in the scroll so I had a second copy made. This copy I sent to my Sire for safekeeping in Adrianople. I was then sent by Gareth to Venice as an emissary to Prince Narses to grant the Shadowmaster concessions in the city so that he would not bolster support for Alfonso’s claim to Constantinople’s Prince or Bishopric.
While here, I was once again assaulted by a member of Clan Salubri and saved only by the timely interference of a member of Clan Nosferatu who aided me in escaping the warrior sent after me. This had me convinced that this manuscript indeed held a deadly secret and much of it was true! I left Venice and journeyed to Adrianople to find my Sire’s haven burned to the ground, he nowhere to be found, and no sign of the copy that I produced for him.
I sought the aid of an ally, a Malkavian mystic, Anatole to see if he could shed light on my plight. In a vision he told me that I would need to seek those who woke the “Dragon and the Demon” slumbering in the west. I did not understand what he meant until our next encounter with Clan Salubri. This time the visit was from Samiel, formerly known as Uriel, who sought to slay me, again without explanation. The mad babblings of Anatole are the only thing that saved me as his powers reduced the powerful warrior to a raving lunatic! With his powers of the mind, he was able to extract from Samiel’s mind the reason for the attacks, Saulot himself had ordered me slain and my scrolls burned.
What’s more, Anatole found out that Samiel had been involved in the waking of the Dragon and the Demon and that his companions in this endeavor were Fahdi Mohammad and you! Each of you Embraced a vessel for the Dragon to continue East to search for an Antedeluvian named Lilith”.
Alejandro – ”I do not deny any of that. Indeed I was glad to be gone of that woman and her dangerous sword. I have heard nothing from or of her since we parted ways before I claimed the Princeship of Jerusalem. What does this have to do with me?”
Kratos – ”She has now returned, and with her has returned the vessels you created. All I believe have met with this Lilith and all are bent on the destruction of the 13 and their descendants”.
Alejandro – Laughing, ”Fairy tales Kratos. The Book of Nod is an oft cited source for…”
Kratos – ”Yes and it is a lie. Listen to the tale of Alexander’s March”.
Menele is convinced by Petaniqua to follow her son on his march to conquer in response to the attacks on Greece by the Assamites and Ventrue of Persia. Menele is the War captain and takes Petaniqua as sorceress advisor, with Cristo (Nosferatu sire of Petradon) as his spymaster, and Hukros (Gangrel warrior) as his Battlemaster. Meneleus brings three childer along the road with him as well, Tithian, Phillip, and Hastrat.
Endymion a Grandchilde of Arikel comes along on the trip interested to see the art and architecture of the eastern world. Endymion discovers that Saulot himself has also decided to come along for the journey though he notes it in his journal he refuses to tell anyone else of this knowledge (rightly thinking that it could be dangerous to his continued unlife to reveal such information).
The campaign begins in Asia Minor with the city of Sardis which wisely surrenders to the overwhelming Macedonian force. The cities Vampiric Ruler was Thraldus a childe of the Byzar, a Cappadocian Methuselah. Of course he held no loyalty to any but his sire and did not see the point in battle with the Warlord Meneleus.
The next major stop on the road was Halicarnassus a stronghold in the mountains. After a brutal siege the city could not be taken and Alexander moved on not wanting to be bogged down. He left an army to blockade the city though as its strategic importance could not be overlooked. Pisindalis childe of the Lasombra Methuselah Boukephos commanded the city. It was odd the author noted that he should have such fealty to Assamite and or Ventrue overlords (it was not clear which if any he served).
After further sieges of coastal cities designed to prevent Darius’ navy from having safe port Alexander (and Meneleus) head to Egypt. At this point the author notes, Saulot clearly has no childer with him which interests him as he believed that such ancients could only feed upon the blood of the Kindred to sustain themselves.
The Setites bow to Alexander and do not challenge Meneleus in fact they invite Meneleus into the greatest of theie Courts which he of course wisely declines. A Setite requests that he be allowed to accompany Meneleus on the journey and bring Setite warriors along with him to share in the glory of Alexander’s conquests. Tetukh a Childe of Izzat takes the role as the leader of the Setite Warriors. It is not exactly clear why the Egyptians take so well to Alexander (or at least not clear to the author). Countess Nehshi petitions Meneleus to construct a Setite court in the newly created Alexandria. Meneleus agrees, he leaves a grandchilde (Petrofet) to oversee the newly conquered territory.
The army set out to the outskirts of the Persian Empire - the Levant and Syria were the next targets of Alexander. Tyre was razed to the ground when the defenders refused to concede. Meneleus ensured that all the Vampires of Tyre suffered the final death for failure to surrender. It was here that the first major loss was suffered by the Kindred of Macedonia, Phillip the Childe of Meneleus was struck down by an Assamite elder. (The author speculates that perhaps this is why all Vampiric residents perished to the last).
The majesty of the mountain ranges known as the Cilician Gates are described in breathtaking detail. The author even stayed up in the morning to behold its beauty by daylight! (No doubt the author spent time learning the tricks of the Gangrel else he would have perished in such an attempt!) After his march through these Gates, Alexander has his first confrontation with the Emperor Darius. The battle takes place by day and thus there is no account of it though it is noted that Alexander’s superior tactics (and perhaps Darius’ lack of will) cause Darius to depart from the field.
The army then proceeded to Gaza laying an enormous siege to the city, in the titanic battle Tetukh the Setite warrior perished. This time though Menele allowed the Kindred of the city to live. Indeed the Ventrue Maltheas even defected to Meneleus’ cause. He indicated to the author that it seemed that the mortal Alexander was destined for greatness and that only a fool would oppose the forces of nature, Vampires inherently are unnatural and to resist the obvious when confronted by it is impractical.
In Jerusalem, Meneleus confronts the Assamite master of Jerusalem in one on one combat and bests him. Thereafter the Kindred of the city submit to the will of Meneleus (much as the human population did to Alexander but without the drama of a one on one duel). The Satrap (Persian Prince) of the city informs Meneleus that Ur Shulgi Assamite supreme Sorcerer has taken to torpor which somewhat explains the lack of magical resistance to Alexander’s March. In this meeting it is exposed that Menele himself is a powerful sorcerer and warlord. This news spreads like wildfire through the east. (The author believes that Saulot leaked this information as very few were privy to the secret – the author was by virtue of the relationship he had been building with Petanaquia).
In Jerusalem Menele is visited by a Kindred named Beshter who in exchange for information regarding the strengths of the Persian strongholds wishes to obtain succor in the Macedonian lands that Menele and his childer control. Menele agrees and it is revealed that there is a large schism between the Assamites and the Ventrue, indeed they war amongst themselves even as Alexander sweeps eastward.
Emboldened by the news Menele’s spymaster Cristo sends falsified information to the east regarding treachery on the part of all the major Methuselahs of Persia hoping to set them against one another. (The author notes that even Menele does not wish to face some of Persia’s most powerful all assembled together). [The list of direct childer of Antedeluvians in Persia is a long one, Mithras, Tiamat, Veddartha all childer of Ventrue; Ur Shulgi, Sha’Hiri, Scriptos all childer of Haquim; Atar childe of Malkav; Vayu childe of Ravnos; Hoama (supposedly a childe of the True Brujah Antedeluvian); and Kishar childe of Gangrel]. There are other Methuselahs of course that dwell in the ancient Persian, Akkadian and Babylonian territories but these are the eldest who wield influence in Darius’ Persia.
The plan works brilliantly Veddartha and Scriptos both are rumored to fall into Torpor opposing one another. Many of the other Methuselahs simply drift away or perhaps enter Torpor when the war leaders become scattered or fall. Mithras takes the field with Darius’ army in the Battle of Gaugamela (though obviously in the night well after it has begun). Seeing the efficiency of his foes Mithras abandons his holdings. He informs Hastrat who has come prepared for battle that he will journey west as he believes that what he sees assembled before him now perhaps makes such a trip worthwhile.
Darius is again defeated at Gaugamela and again chooses to flee. Alexander does not give chase and instead races to Babylon to conquer it (especially now that Mithras has abandoned his stronghold, Menele is pleased with the decision). Upon arrival in Babylon, Menele learns that his onetime human wife Helen is a high ranking member of the Satrapy of Persepolis. Menele seeks Helen at Persepolis while Alexander heads to Susa and its enormous treasury. Menele is seduced by Helen and agrees to give up his conquest of Persia in return for her passage with him back to Macedonia. Petaniqua is outraged but there is little she can do as Menele hands the reins of power to his childe Tithian.
While Darius is killed by a human (ghoul) rival under the control of Sha’Hiri Alexander has himself declared King of Persia at Persepolis. Tiamat journeys to Persepolis to reach a truce with Menele as she believes that without such a truce she shall lose Susa. Once she arrives and realizes that Tithian and not Menele is in control of the army, her tactics change.
The meeting takes place at the top of Persepolis. (The author is a fly on the wall having snuck into the meeting with only stealth to guide him). Tiamat attempts to convince Tithian that there are forces much more powerful at work and that there are other Antedeluvians that would aid them in the fight against their sires and grandsires. Indeed one such Antedeluvian named Lilith visited her on her journey to the eastern kingdoms of India.
Luckily for (or perhaps unluckily) for the author his reliance on common stealth allows him to avoid detection when Saulot arrives. Saulot is enraged that Tiamat even knows of such information and uses his awesome powers (presumably of Dominate to wipe both her and Tithian’s memories). He then starts a fire that burns Persepolis almost to the ground. Even Alexander barely escapes with is life from the fire. The author is terrified that he alone possesses such information, he is not even sure if this information is even true though the reaction of Saulot is telling. The existence of Antedeluvians other than the 13 would be shocking, but to know that one of the Antedeluvians was aware of it would be even more shocking.
Tithian perishes in the fire and Tiamat is badly injured and forced into torpor (Saulot left them at the meeting place nearly mindless after his mind eraser and the author certainly did not attempt to save them). The author speaks no further on the fate of Alexander’s armies nor on the progress of the Kindred shadow war that lurks beneath the conquering banner of Alexander. In fact, the author heads to Alexandria after the incident with Saulot where a Brujah ally of his (chosen as a lorekeeper by Petrofet) has taken a haven. By the time he reaches Alexandria, Saulot’s cover has been blown as there are now whispers that Saulot has journeyed East beyond the Indus river. The author is so shaken by this revelation that he stops writing. He asks his friend to bind his scrolls into a book form but not to read it. Only hide it deep within the new library of Alexandria.
Do you interrupt now or keep listening?

Luca Marano – the Dark Streets of Venice
Adria approaches you and takes your hand squeezing it.
Yenshun nods to you, "Very well. The first lesson is a tale. Heed the tale well as it involves those who are our brethren. This is a tale usually told last but the circumstances of you creation require it to be told first".
The First Tradition: The Covenant. Those closest to Caine must rule as we are possessed of the most power and wisdom. It is through us that the rest shall prosper. In exchange, those closest to Caine offer their protection to those who dwell within their Domain. My words of acceptance to you are a sacred bond between us their meaning shaped through the millennia to what was presented to you this night. To obey me is to uphold The Covenant between us both.
The Second Tradition: The Domain. This city is the Prince's City, I protect and nurture it by enforcing its laws, the laws laid down by Caine. Those who would seek refuge in my Domain will submit to my will. I shall dictate who shall feed and where they shall feed to ensure that our flock is not thinned and stays vibrant. You shall pay respect to me and to those who I allow to dwell within my Domain. Those who are not welcome are to be brought before me, such is the duty of all who dwell here.
The Third Tradition: Progeny. As the eldest in the Domain only the Prince has the wisdom to understand whether the flock has grown sufficiently enough to sustain more of our Brothers and Sisters. Thus, you may not Sire another without my permission. To do so will bring the penalty of Final Death for you and said Childe.
The Fourth Tradition: The Accounting. Those who Sire take on a great burden. For the actions of the Childe reflect upon the Sire. Your successes are this success and your failures are his failures. Your Sire is to instruct you in the proper rules of etiquette. He is also the first to enforce the Traditions. You answer to him as you would answer to me for your sins are his to bear as well. Once he releases you, then shall your actions reflect upon you and you alone.
The Fifth Tradition: Destruction. Tthou shalt not kill thine elder. Neither shall you spill the blood of another of our kind unless forced to do so to defend your own existence. Those who seek to harm you shall suffer my wrath. If a Cainite is to be destroyed, it shall fall upon me to decide and no others.
The Sixth Tradition: The Silence Of Blood. You shall never reveal your nature to those not of the Blood, by so doing, you renounce your claims to yours. At all times you must retain control of yourself in front of mortals with the exception of those for whom you have decided to take sustenance. Then only through death or deception shall you claim the sustenance you need. Many of our kind have mortal servants despite this restriction, it is up to your Sire to decide how and when you may take such servants under your guidance.
His nomenclature shifts back and forth as if he is the Prince or the Prince is another.
There are 13 Clans in all, you will encounter each in this city at this time. I generalize but the majority fall into the categories closely enough.
Thoughts as to the other Clans 1 each of the 12 nights of Downtime:
Assamites – Dangerous but honorable.
Brujah – Short fused and short sighted.
Cappadocians – They smell of death, best to avoid them.
Followers of Set – Untrustworthy.
Lasombra – Manipulators of the highest order.
Malkavians – Madmen but visionaries. Separating truth from fiction is the problem with them.
Nosferatu – Our natural allies, they are dowtrodden as are we. Help them where you can and they will help you.
Salubri – The best of us.
Toreador – The stars are in their eyes and empty space is in their heads.
Tremere – Blood thieves, I would suffer none to live.
Tzimisce – Monsters of the east, arrogant as Ventrue and mad as Malkavians.
Ventrue – Arrogant with little cause to be.
"Have you any questions thus far?"

Luca Marano – the Dark Streets of Venice
"While it is Adria's fangs that stole your life, it is my fangs which has given it back to you. I am your Sire and you will follow me in all things.
As this is your first night as one of us, we should spend it closer to nature. Come, let us head to the mainland!"
Do you follow?

Narses Court - A Crowded Meeting Room on the Second Floor - Alessandro
She whispers back, "I spent my time this evening tracking down a Ghost". She grins at you.
"That was priority for you so I made it mine my love. I believe that the Brujah is with us, two of them we'll get nowhere with Robin Leeland though, has a vote and I doubt others will approach him. So I will discreetly.
As far as my aspirations, let's see if we can make this one successful first eh? Perhaps call upon the Assamite again my love?"

Narses Court - Andrew
Brian turns to Andrew, "Come my Childe. We must prepare the room for my speech this night. He brings you along to a private room and closes the door.
Speak freely now Childe, what are your thoughts on this development?"

Narses Court - Michele Querini
As many others decide to step out so too does your Sire.
He steps all the way outside to a spot near the docks, "Before we speak on anything else, how did your meetings earlier this evening go?"

Your Sire turns to you, "Alexander you know yes? Seek him out, let us see how he will react to this. If we support him in this time of need our vote he shall have".
Vitaliano da Riva |

Narses Court - A Crowded Meeting Room on the Second Floor - Vitaliano
Upon hearing his Sire's request he nods "I feel that his pride may have been hurt a little in this situation but I will of course tell him that we shall support him with our vote. It seems we have his confidence as well. I need to speak again with the Toreador Rafael...do you know of another that seems to have favor with your competitor? I feel at home in garnering the attention and trying to sway others to my thoughts." he said smiling.
He remembered before that his Sire had asked him about what his outburst was about and once he had had his answers for his questions he bowed his head and began. "About earlier, my little outburst. Forgive me, but the symmetry between Prince Narses's use of the chapters of religious dogma and his views on the various clans became quite clear. It was certainly enlightening to see his point of view though the last picture's viewpoint eludes me." he said before going on to tell him what he felt the pictures meant about the Prince's position on each individual clan.
Onfroi |
Narses Court
Onfroi will wander down and stop by himself to read the note returned to him and then destroy the note by eating it. He then will leave the alcove and go out moving slow and will see if any other kindred hangs back near by or comes to him first.

Narses Court - Bagrat Kamsarakan
Yes it does appear that until you reach the top of the lader there are always string and someone more powerful then you pulling them he replied with a smile
It would be a sweet and peacful way out and i really do thank you for the gracious offer. I have already suffered for a memory loss in my past and rebuilding myself has been painful. I do not wish to forget those that i cared for and if if a have duty and obligations to fulfill than so be it. I'll respect the word i have given. How about you ? where would you rather be instead of here ? he offered as a mean for some conversations
Andrew the Hardy, Lord of Moray |
Venice by Night – Tuesday March 25, 1309
Narses Court - Andrew
"Come my Childe. We must prepare the room for my speech this night. He brings you along to a private room and closes the door.
Speak freely now Childe, what are your thoughts on this development?"
"Aye tis much to say many a tings ave happened, tha Tremere plot against each other an tha elder seems pleased to ave set tha course o both. Tis a difficult life o intrigue they live, an one I fear will carry into tha council."
"Tha elder leads as should be, an elder o tha path one is on, tha path o heaven is open tah all, I had not intended fer tha changes fer tha council tah be only fer tha path o heaven, a fitting set o images fer a hall err such but not tha full council."
"Tha fledglin council seems on tha verge o collapse, wit certain understandins o tha traditions, being variations, an again some powers o tha prince forfeit to tha council, obstacles it would seem."
"Yer deliverin a sermon this night..I ave much to learn myself, my struggle is wrath, though it seems common to tah warrior o Sablubri......"
Andrew seems to have stopped speaking and began praying for the long hard nights to come.
Lorenzo Cappelli |
Venice by Night – Tuesday March 25, 1309
Narses Court - A Crowded Meeting Room on the Second Floor - Lorenzo and Ranerius
As your Sires slip away and out the door next to one another, Lutz von Hohenzollern approaches both of you, "Eventful eh? Say, your Sire is Benne right, that means good spoken in English right? So t would be good for me if he supported me right?!"
Lorenzo nods, acknowledging the presence of another. "Indeed, my Sire is Lord Benne. Gaining his support would very much be beneficial to you. Forgive my memory, I do not recall meeting you before, your name, or affiliation."
Sir Dunstan Füller |
Venice by Night – Tuesday March 25, 1309
Narses Court - A Crowded Meeting Room on the Second Floor
Dunstan follows the infighting of the Tremere with interest, and noticing that while the Brujah may have their problems, it might not be as bad when compared to others. Now was not the time for contemplation, he had to secure votes and he will make sure he had lord Bajazet's by the end of the night or so Dunstan hopes with a smile.
Lord Bajazet, what do you think of Radek or Fanchon?" speaking of what just transpired with the Tremere to make conversation and then to ease in into a more apt conversation for his support.
Alessandro Khadaji |
Venice by Night – Tuesday March 25, 1309
Narses Court - A Crowded Meeting Room on the Second Floor - Alessandro
The Ventrue fledgling chuckles, Who could I trust to see about an apparition? He grins back.
Very well, let's charm a... Zealot.
Alessandro kisses Alyssa's cheek, letting her hand slip from his as he turns to seek out Bajazet.
Approaching the Assamite, he speaks discretely. Lord Bajazet. Apologies for being pulled away. Allow me to make it up to you, if not tonight, then as the agent of my Sire, Lady Alyssa, as she sits upon this... council.
Access to Lady Alyssa's resources, her sire's resources and perhaps the "moral" support of Mithras himself. Wide and varied will be my reach, Lord Bajazet.
Alessandro opts for the direct approach.
Charisma + Expression + Politics, urbane: 4d10 + 2d10 + 2d10 ⇒ (4, 8, 1, 3) + (3, 3) + (2, 3) = 27
Wow, just... wow.
