"Well, Right now there's plenty of hunting to do. Work in the wilds, and keeping the land safe, and people fed." To Jaxx he asks, "A head for towns? As in city jobs, like working shops and such, or like you get how towns work and a head for figures or people?" This a potential council application? cause that changes how i approach this... not sure if i'm meta-gaming and reading too much into it... "Cause I sure don't. Towns are strange places, never much cared for them. Except the military, of course. that makes sense, but the rest of a big city... some of those folk are crazy!" which would be a funnier comment if they knew that kae had moments where he seemed a bit insane...

What kind of terms exactly? cause there's odd-job stuff, and then there's council stuff, and council stuff would be pretty kewl, jsut saying...

1. Jaxx chat's pretty easily with you - and you guess from her talk that she used to do part time work in a pretty large town near Ustalav and the northern borders of Razmirran. The town was fairly large, hill dwarf town, with some humans that lived there, too - about a population of roughly 30,000 folk - which is quite large.

During there her work was as an assistant to a "private detective" - basically she did "bail bondsmen" work - searching for clues, modest paperwork with legal issues, gathering information on the streets - and if folk got rowdy - roughing them up when she helped haul them back to prison.

2. Terms are fair payment for the job you are looking for. Hiring them as a "City Guard" would grant them the base weekly pay - in this case - "Profession" (whatever the job is) - and they'd be taking a 10 each week for "fair terms" - but that assume mundane pay.

Quick question - are you planning on having your officers work for you via council? You do realize you have at least 2 fully trained men who are skilled, loyal and equipped beyond level 1 that can work for you - in your council - if you ask them?

Male Half-Elf Invulnerable Rager 2/Crossblooded Envenomed+Draconic Sorcerer 1/ Trapper Ranger 1/Rage-Vivisectionist 2/Dragon Disciple 1

can my officers, Garith and Arsinain operate as the leaders of the council and maintain their responsibilities in the capital?

and yeah, i'll make recommendations.

What i'm really missing is the more academic positions, there's plenty of martial NPC's all over the place.

They would not be able to do both - they will need to be either doing their duties specifically with your baronial guard - or they will need to be the officers in Saravale.

In this - it is your choice.

Also - I've been having a hard time putting together a kobold connected to wolves; I can't find much of an angle, and none of them make a lot of sense. Even so - I'll try to do something soon... you may be better to try to make one on your own, with your own angle - the problem is - it would only be level 1.

I may be able to do something, but it wouldn't be very easy to put together - we'll see what happens - but no promises on that front.

I've got enough martial types, and I like the Savage Skald general, as arsinian would replace him.

What is the significance of the Jackal and Wolf in Orsani/Tian culture? I know inubus was the god of embalming, but I dunno what they would be to the Gold Kobold. But some kind of info, and I can do a write-up.

Two things -

1. Osiriani culture is very different then Tian - Tian is closer to Asian - Osiriani culture is closer to Egyptian.

As an aside - in Egypt the Egyptian Jackal (Canis aureus lupaster) also known as the African Wolf or Wolf Jackal is currently listed as a subspecies of the "golden jackal" but may be a subspecies of grey wolf or a unique species in its own right. It is native to Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia, though its post Pleistocene range once encompassed the Palestine region.

A "Golden Wolf" in the form of a Jackal - and a Jackal in the form of the god of Death? Surely that's naught but coincidence...

2. The Jackal is indeed the personification in Osiriani culture for the lord of the dead; more betters described as the keeper of the dead; or the guardian of the dead.

Another name for this being is "Anubis"...

As another unrelated aside - with all the conversation everyone has done; no one has bothered to speak to or discuss anything with the "Anubis Warriors" - you know, the ones you called the "Jackal Heads" - no doubt they have no connection here - and no relation to anything, though...

But then again... they may...

I wasn't sure which would have a heavier influence on the Gold Kobold, tian or osiron, cause you mentioned both, and I'm trying to get a better idea of what the golds are like at their core.

Kae doesn't really have much chance to talk to the animu, as he's hunting, and I don't cause I got a lot to deal with before I leave for a week. You mentioned to ry/isani that the jackals are around? Cause they had two weeks with the dog-men

The more martial of the golden kobolds embrace the Asian culture, while the more arcane and the divine culture typically adhere to the Osiriani culture.

The Egyptian culture is generally aligned to the magic/religious culture -

The Samurai culture is better suited to the military culture - so it depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking more for a military type - the Asian type is better suited - if you're looking for more magical - go for Osiriani...

Finally - it should be noted - there is quite a lot of refuges from the southern towns who have fled north to your town; desert elves, desert halflings - and desert "half-elves" - they're generally pretty savvy for cunning and ruthlessness.

Female Aasimar Druid 7 (Noble)

Only those who speak Osiriani can talk to the Anumi. With so much on my plate I have not had the time to interview the Jackal Heads. But it is on Ry and Isani's agenda. I've just had a lot to do and little time to get everything done.

Hey, so i wanted to ask about a couple characters!

So far, my thoughts...:

Wolf-Shaman Councelor
Witch Treasurer
Kemat as Spymaster

Taedo as Warden/Marshal
although i'm not sure which he would be best suited for.
Maybe Jaxx or Rhett as the other? Or try to recruit Gladius =P

I'm thinking i can build an Oracle for my High-Priest, unless you have one that might work with Kae, in which case, I'll send Kae to meet them, and try to recruit 'em.

I also have a cool idea for a Savage Skald General that uses Cha as opposed to Str for the checks, and I think he'll be cool.

What i don't have is a:
Ruler
Magister
Diplomat
...and i really don't know what to do for them.

+I would kinda like to have a Cleric that focuses on Channeling, so it would have High Cha so it could make a good diplomat.

+Magister would be a caster, i could dig having an alchemist run the barony's academia/arcane studies.

+Dunno about a ruler yet. Need someone to run things for Kae when he's gone being savage...so i got no idea about what to do for that one either.

I'm pretty wiped out and won't be back till saturday/sunday night. I dunno if you want me to control Mizune, but i liked how things worked with Galen, so if you don't mind, Dain... Hands reigns
I kinda need her introduced by Taedo so I can chat with her for recruiting.
Not sure what i want to do with the Kemat storyline...
but again, im gone a while, so...

Kae - as you sit in your chambers waiting for the company to come back - a young man comes and delivers you letter.

It is a dirty scrap of paper - crudely written - but, upon opening it - you recognize the seal.

One thing's for sure - it's authentic...

The Letter:

Hey Chief!

Here’s the thing – about a month ago I warned ye had a thret but it wer from won of yor oen folk. Sourses say it be true. Be watching – thret still ther. Won of yer old mates be coming to get yu guys. Be watching – bad troubles ahead with one of yer own mates from past.

Yer old pal, Grishnak

ret-coning the hunt:

You want to play out the hunt here, and everything, or abbreviate it or something? I haven't really been around and free lately, and i won't be for a few days. I did have the idea if you'd be down, to, once i get my charger and can use my own computer that has speakers and a mic, that we can skype through the stuff really efficient like, and it's be like being at an actual table doing table-top RP but you don't have to see my ugly mug! I can post as much as i can in ret-con spoilers till then, but it'd likely be something like saturday/sunday/monday, whichever works for you best...

Ka'etil heaves a heavy sigh as he reads it. With the rest of the council gone, and one of his captains out with most of his outriders, it's his task to figure this mess out.

"Wait there a moment,"Kae says to the young man. "Take my response back. Please wait a moment by the door."

Kae's Letter:

Grishnak

Is there any more information about this "old mate"? This one of the folk traveling with the others on the council that left them, cause i have not met any of them, other than the one we already killed, except the paladins that went off.

Or are you talking about someone I knew before i showed up here? Is there any news on what sort of person this is so i can try to work out who we're dealing with?

We can abbreviate hunt - it was mainly a device for you to see the new races in action. Now that you have - you are free to do what you wish with that information for recruitment via your Council.

As for Grishnak's response? It will take some time before it is returned. After all - he needs to compile his notes before he can better send it. More to come on that soon.

Grishnak's eventual response:

Oye – Cheef!

I got contacts all over Rivar Kingdym – and southarn Brevoy. On of my lads be in soth Brevoy. He herd lad in bar be hire lads fer work soth – which be here. Sad his chiyf were be wanting folk to got blades fer job here on taking loot from yer town. He sed yer town be owed him lots of coin. Sed he make army to go soth to yu and take his coin from ye if ye don’t pay square what ye oh him. Sed ye ow him big coin – he got proof on it – and ye pay fair and true or els. Sed ye be bond to it, and have to owe him lot. He make big troops to get it. Not no when, but they come fer us to take big coin. Not know when.

Hey – chefe – this kind of news be worth stuff. Ye need more news, I need some lute to pay fer it. What do ye say? News may be wrong, but I don’t think so. I think it be good to check, what do yu say? Can yu give me coin to get more nues for you, or is thys good enuf? Let me no.

The first thing Kae does when he is put in charge is try to get news about what happened in the spider cave. If there is no information yet, then he sends word with Drake that he wants a report from Oleg's settlement. What happened out there?

When he recieves grishnak's first letter and responce, Kae summons a courier and begins writing several letters

First he addresses a letter to Oleg, warning of the potential threat and asks how they are in terms of military and defensive forces, in case of a raid by said old ally. He asks if Oleg and his council has heard any such news.

Then he writes to ariarh and brett which he sends with a rider to pull hard after the party. He should intercept them on the way back, and offer to run a responce back to the city so Kae can make preperations. he may run into Garith's rider, or get there before Garith sends one, depending on when Kae gets Grishnak's responce and the exact timing.

letter:
Councelmen

I have received word that one of your old allys had been conspiring against us and is gathering forces in Brevoy. I had thought the threat was Hermia, but the nature of the danger seems more mundane. It appears that this individual believes that the council owes him a large sum of coin, and wants to be paid what he feels he is owed.

Do you know who this may be, so I can better prepare for his or her actions? It seems likely that it was someone that left before my arrival, as it would not likely be Bronwyn nor Crovan. i'd guess smendor or the first summoner, as they did not leave on the best of terms based on what I read... So if you have any ideas please let me know post haste!

be safe while you track the cultists. They are a treacherous lot, to be sure

General Ka'etil Malas'rae

He summons Arsinian to tell him about the potential threat, tells him to keep it close to the vest, and increase patrols. He also orders a group to check on the old Koda properties to see what's going on there. The group will be three infiltrators out of uniform with a normal patrol of 2 bruits, a spearman and a shield-bearer moving by as the infiltrators look around.

He then sets a meet with grishnak, confirming all of the information in the letters

He also regretibly informs Grish that his budget is already dead, but that next minth Grishnak will be compensated properly.
Kae will also discuss his barony where he is going to have greater liberty with his funds, and less scrutiny from the rest of the council, so it would be advantagious for both if grishnak set up shop, or at least an outpost of sorts there when things get going. But kae will pay grish for his trouble for this info.

Kae also asks, if things come to blows with this guy, whay cut does grish want of the loot gathered? This is a negotiation so Kae want's Grish's request here, and will try to work with that.

Quick Responses –

1. When the gang left Drake informed the Council that the folks on route to the Spider Cave are expected any time. However – Ironhorse’s wife is a bit concerned – it has been nearly a week and they are not back. Still – it is about a two day journey one way – they may be delayed a bit, or stopped off at Olegs. They should be back soon – you hope, but no word as of yet.

2. Drake has left with the Council to go south – as he has experience as a tracker and military man, and the Council decided they did not want to leave the citizens without a leader that is formally on the Council so long – which is why you stayed (also – you were out of game out of town – so… it worked out). But Drake is with the others heading south.

3. The Courier is sent north to Oleg – it will take about 4-5 days roundtrip before it is returned. You should have it by the end of the week.

4. The letter you sent out to the gang south would have met with the m on the very next morning the party was getting ready to head north. They were only gone one day formally when they found the destruction – and the rider would have made camp before dark, likely not seeing your allies. As such – he met them in the morning when they were headed north back to the town.

5. Arsinian does expand the patrols – and requests that a budget be made for creating an “outpost” (via the standard rules) – at the smuggler’s cave. He feels it is a good place for anyone to hold up – and a good “half-way” point between Saravale and the towns north, although it is on the western side of the river.

That expense is the standard cost of a usual Outpost – and it would take roughly 1 month to complete. It provides no specific bonus to the nation – except that the land there is formally claimed and some troops are garrisoned there as runners, outriders, and watchmen for the western side of the river.

Naturally – the choice is yours.

6. Sylvath informs you that – annoyingly – the land/property that is being “rented” by the southerners is formally “paid up” for the end of the month. Currently they have not evacuated all members of their gang – and several armed toughs are loitering around the property – presumably to keep out any nosey neighbors – or the government spooks. He does not know your plans on this – but awaits your orders. However – the rent is formally paid, and they do have guards on watch at all times.

7. Grishnak informs you that he is “your man” – and feels things are a bit hot in Saravale anyhow. He claims he wants “elbow room” and a chance to breathe. If you’d like – he’d happily leave Saravale with only a private office for his lads – and relocate to your barony. He understands about the money – but is willing to wait. He feels that – unfortunately – there is nothing he can do at this time, as he doesn’t have enough of his own coin to pay his lads to do spy work without a sure sign of profit or return.

Grish is not a “troops on the field” guy. He will aid you with what he can – and how he can – but you know he’s a mercenary at heart. If a real battle/war started – he would either sell to both sides, or neither – and wait it out, then support the winner.

Provided you take care of him, though – he’ll take care of you. Unless you had something more to offer then – for example – coin? Say, perhaps – political positions? You did mention you needed a staff for your town – anything open for a guy like him?

Hey, so I'm working on a Ruler concept, a divinely inspired Silver Kobold Oracle of Apsu. I'm not actually home or even remotely free right now, hence not posting.

But right now kae's got to have his barony set up before he can do much on this thread.

Touche'

Well then - I hope to see more of it soon. Take your time - when this part is finished - then everything will pick up speed fast.

You'll be rolling for your monthly "income" - via taxes and BP - as well as national - and doing stuff with the BP you gained - which causes your heroes to level - which means that by the end of the "year" - much of your Council should be roughly around level 3.

"Whut up! I'm the avatar for Ka'etil's Barony. Gimme a discussion board to post my rolls on, and answer my questions about the Econ House-rules, and we can get cookin!"

workin on updating my page with stats, which i can finish when you answer, and i can roll on my discussion board

The Hunt

While they return to Saravale from their expedition south, Ka'etil leads a Hunt, scouting ahead, claiming food enough for the refugees to eat, and returning to the party every few days over the course of the two week journey north.

WIth each return, the Half-elf re-joins the council, reporting the information gleaned while scouting, as well as granting insight in which path to trod through his Auguries communing with his draconic ancestry. the other members of the hunt may rejoin their peoples, but each dawn Ka'etil rides forth into the wild to scout and hunt. The butchered corpses of their quarry are left to the wolves, off the path their people shall tread to avoid a chance meeting, although Ariarh's presence with the refugees would mitigate any conflicts, Kae does not wan to take the risk.

Nights on the trail at campfire, the party partakes of fresh meat, conversing and at times reveling at the wild. Ka'etil plays at fighting with Tohk in contests of strength, converses with Taedo regarding mercenary life at sea, compared to his experiences on solid ground. The silvers he also converses with trying to bring them closer, through the camaraderie of hunting. Khemat's more subtle advances seem to fall upon deaf ears, and Clari's presence seems to dissuade her from more overt flirtations.

Mitzune, the strange golden druid, does not often interact with her fellow Golden Kobold, Taedo, avoiding inappropriate contact with the Wako, as it were. She also seems to shy away from the other silver Kobold Jaxx and Rhett. Ever polite to those she avoids, she instead finds some kinship with Ryul, their tracker whom she assists during the day.

Clari watches like a hawk, aloof for the most part, although she does hold even the modern Kobold in high regard. Khemat she looks upon with undisguised distrust, but Ka'etil talks quietly with the Yuan-ti, curious to know more of their history and nature, wondring where they would fit into the growing state.

Several days into the hunt, the rest of the party being tired, Ka'etil and Kemat remain sitting by the fire. After an evening of entendre and suggestive almost intimate contact and Ka'etil pauses the conversation. "Kemat, I understand that it is the way of your people to address those in command with a degree of respect, rule of the strong, and I respect that. I hope that through this time together I have come to understand you better." he tells her.

"I do not believe that you are trying to manipulate me, and i do not demand this of you. There is a strange draw that I don't understand, beyond the powers i know your kind to posess, and you are beautiful," he looks at her a moment, then smiles, "Rather green, but i do not care about that." He chuckles and tenderly touches her cheek, brushing the hair from her face. "So Kemat, will you retire with me, purely of your own volition, simply as a man and a woman?"
There is one thing i need a response to in order to continue writing

It is nearing the edge of the wolves territories, and Ka'etil relaxes, not expecting to encounter them. Just as he is thinking about it, assisting in carving meat off a carcass, the air is rent by an echoing howl. "Mitzune! The wolves approach. This is why i sought you. You're deep connection with the creatures, your ability to commune, now is the time it would be most valuable. Now I have somewhat of a way with beasts, and have met them before, so I can lend my assistance to you, but i cannot speak to them." The two ride out to meet the wolves.

The canines circle them, Mother recognizing Ka'etil. Not seeing Ariarh, but instead this golden lizard being, she is potentially displeased, but the offer of a fresh carcass to her clan gives her pause long enough for Mitzuen to commune with them
Wild Empathy as a full round action
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
and Kae aids her in this, tapping into his more primal side
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The pack pauses and looks at them cautiously, at which Mitzune lets out a bark and a growl, speaking in their language, via her Speak with Animals ability. "We come passing through your lands with a large pack. We have hunted, taking only the prey we needed to survive, and leaving the carcasses that you can eat them if you find them, as an offering of thanks for letting us travel. Please allow us passage."
Using wild empathy as diplomacy, Kae and Mitzune aim to appease the wolves, and prepare to solidify their alliance. I'll write up the rest once you respond?

Month 1 Social RP answers –

”Of course, sire,” Kemat says.

”With us – sexuality is viewed in its true dual nature. The first and primary function is to create offspring – so that the species may not die out. The second is draw forth pleasure – a secondary element, of course, compared to the survival of the species – but still, it does have its enjoyments.”

”Even so – there is a third element that many of your people seem to have forgotten – sexuality is seen clearly in the animal world in which a dominant creature preys on a weaker – and takes what it wishes from that creature. Animals do this with physical force, typically. However – this is against convention in your cultures, for your folk find such suggestions… rude? In any case – this is only hypocrisy – both genders frequently use sex as a predatory tool – but not in such physical means. Rather – they use sexuality to manipulate their mate with mental domination. Through hints, teasing and innuendo – you may dominate the mind of another being simply through the ability to use sex to your advantage. As such – my people are extremely skilled in sexual nuances – for if we wish to dominate another; we may add still another tool to our arsenal.”

Kae – it is at this point that you observe that her ability to be “seductive” is extremely well done. However – you are not sure if this a prelude to sex; a method of manipulation; or a demonstration of the said method of manipulation. She is being very upfront with you about it – clearly not very “warm blooded” in her lust, but using the "Reptilian Part of the Brain" - the part that controls logic. Also, she is absolutely convinced that sex is useful for reproduction; enjoyable for pleasure – but seems to think that all creatures use sex in some fashion to control others. Ironically, the only issue she has with that is the seeming “hypocrisy” of most humans to argue that point. For her – she does not argue the point, instead – basically says “Yeah – we use sex to get stuff. So what? You like the sex, I like what you got me – so it’s all good, we’re both happy in the end, so what’s the problem?” While this may disturb your conscience a bit – if you engage with carnal relations with her – you will find that she is free to take a natural 20 on her “Perform: Sex” – which of course is augmented by her substantial Charisma. In short – Kae would enjoy himself a lot; if he went through with it. That, however – depends on your choice.

She is comfortable either way; and is merely stating the facts. However: you have a strong sense she is eager to mate with you for the following logical reasons. The first is that if you did produce an offspring with her, you are physically large, and seem both healthy in body and mind; therefore, her child is likely to be equally large and fit - in body and mind. She is also smart enough to know that if she had a son or daughter with a baron of a land - that would bind her to you politically and be good for her chance of survival. Also - she is reasonably sure that a large and well made barbarian type such as yourself would be pretty decent in the sack; and you figure that at this point she'd be up for the pleasure aspect in of itself, even if the other two elements weren't there, but they are. However - there is no element of "love" in the action. She doesn't know you to love you - and will merely have insanely good sex with you to make sure that you are pleased with her, keep her around, take care of her - and also, as stated, your physical appearance suggests that you look like you would give as good as you get in bed (well, possibly: after all - she is fairly skilled in special schools for this, so - yeah). If Kae is looking for a woman to love - she is not the one, at least - not now. It may happen in time - but she is too logically based to let emotions like love sully up a good bout of hot luvin'.

Wolf Appeasing

You are not sure how successful you are – however; you are certainly not eaten! It is difficult to find them, however – and you will be gone from your barony for the better part of the month, if you advance on this quest.

However – you can leave a series of instructions with your folk.

More on this detail will be provided soon – once I have the full monthly answers written up; this should take no more then a day or so.

i was suggesting that on the hunt, while returning to Saravale back in the beginning, we run across the wolves again. At least it is a group of them.

Suggestion noted - however; that is nearly a month in ret-con action at this time, so it would not be very likely that would happen.

However - it is very likely it can happen on your "weekly action" as posted before.

I will attend to it soon, though.

Month 1 completed and your buildings are built - you're free to have the buildings up and running, and you can plot out what you want to do with your new BP.

When you make your decision on what to do with your new economy, I need the following ASAP:

1. Stats for your Councilmen
2. Map for your city with "Grid layout" - as it determines where certain buildings would fall
3. Responses for answers and your decisions via those answers.

Okay - good work!

Would Kae know that she can speak Draconic yet? THis is basically jsut after they had met, and are out hunting while the refugees are following them back to Saravale, all the way back before we leveled. Ret-conning stuff

Ka'etil half-smiles, an almost resigned chuckle escapes his lips. "Honestly, I cannot understand why others attempt to advise me on this kind of thing. Your psychology is as alien to me as that of people like Ariarh. Admittedly, based on what you have said, I would willingly wager that my understanding may be lacking, in your opinion. But at the end of the night what does that really matter?" Ka'etil says to her, rising to his full height, uncoiling one could say, looking down at her sitting there in the flickering firelight. "The decision is yours, weather or not to follow me now, and while i make no attempt to dominate you, and feel that in good conscience, I must advise that I may not react as you may anticipate, to any machinations, but i do not wish to dissuade you. So come." His hand reaches out to her to assist her in rising, and he will accompany her to his tent. woo-WOO-woo.
Diplomacy to improve her attitude toward Kae?
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
[/i]Not that that's necessarily a thing, but it is the bread and butter of the pirate game, and i felt like referencing it.[/i]

Kae would like Kemat to like him, but if there is merely lust, it's something. There is something in his blood that pulls him toward the Yuan-ti, something of which he was previously unaware, and he is still not one to ignore his impulses and instincts. Kae's psychology is also warped, and his responses to others in terms of feelings are strange. He's 24 and never felt anything even remotely similar to love, and the idea of people manipulating each others feelings is utterly alien to him, having never really had those sorts of straon exploitable emotions before. Als, not to forget, he did have a major psychotic break earlier this very year, from which he had very recently recovered, before arriving at Oleg's, and underwent a rather dramatic shift in behavioral motivation and ideals (CN to NG) which is really more of a refelction on the ideals he aims for, as he has ideals now.

He also is going to try to avoid getting Kemat knocked p already, as that potentiality has occured to him, and he should not be a father at this point.

Hmm... This was something I planned on happening when you got back to your capital, not on the trail. If it was on the trail, then it would be very likely that Ariarh or Isani would have seen it - and, having seen it - would have said something on it at the time.

Therefore - As I suggested when I put it under "Month 1 - Social RP Answers - this action would not occur on the hunt, but after you got back to town so that not only does an entire event not have to be ret-conned, but to avoid complications as to what other players who were there would have said; and how that would be ret-conned.

Kenment does not have a bad attitude toward Kae; she is already helpful. However - that does not mean she "loves" you. She was quite blunt - sex is useful, necessary to survival, and fun. All of those things she will be enjoying in your tent.

FYI - she, on the other is trying to get "Knocked Up". This is a bit tricky - there are ways this can be avoided, of course - but to make things "polite" I will come up with something later this evening when I get home fro work on how to play this out.

clearly i have communication issues, cause I can't seem to get a point across for the life of me.

I thought that when I had written that on the trail back Kae took a hunting party out scouting repeatedly, returning to the troupe (where all the refugees and Ry are) every few days with food, and information, then going out again, it was clear that it happened before we returned to the city.

Also that Kae had engaged Kemat while out on one of these scouting missions. there are 6 others there besides Kae and kemat, and no Isani nor Ariarh, so unless Clari happens to become aware of this, then they would have no way of knowing.

I also thought that i was clear about it being on the way home, when the wolves ran into us again. It was way to hectic and stressful for me to even try to come up wiht anything remotely creative back when it was occurring in game, and i figured i could ret-con it to have the relationships developing make sense to me.

but sure.
it happens in month 1.

I would like to have some ret-con to introduce my council members. there won't really be useful mechanical information on them for a while cause you have their character sheets.

No worries - just mention the ret-con intro for your council members - as needed. I will keep that in mind, of course.

And yes - text sucks for explanation - if you'd like to meet on Skype to chat, that may simplify a lot of things.

Here's some ret-con to gather my council

Kemat:
I think they can keep any encounters rather private, and there would only be some rumor regarding their "involvement" and it gives context for what Kae requests here.

Ka'etil sits in his offices about to leave for his lands to personally oversee construction. He has been contacted by various individuals whom he has recruited to join him, and so summons Kemat, this time in an official capacity. "Kemat, I thank you for seeing me here. I have a request for you. Your powers of persuasion are most impressive, to say the least, and i feel that your skills would be invaluable to me in this coming endeavor of mine," he begins. From a sheaf he withdraws some simple plans to show her. Pointing North-east to the Kobold Cave on the map of their lands, he says "I shall be settling in this area, establishing a fortress city to protect our eastern boarders and river access. but i shall have my duties here at the capital, as general of the nation, as well as manage my lands. I wish to invite you to assist me as part of my council."

Kae looks her up and down, as he is wont to do, appreciating her fine form. "I feel that your talents can be used to great effect for information gathering, and as you have told me about the uses of sex, an idea has occurred to me. You see, if i am to establish a Citadel, a more martially inclined city, there will be many men of a rougher sort, and I suspect that they would be much more peaceable within the city had they women to make them happy."

"It's not as if there will not be a brothel established, and i would like you to manage it, keeping tabs on the men who frequent it. Know their dealings, plans, etcetera. Of course i want to ensure the women are taken care of and not mistreated as they often are in such houses. Your kind may appeal to men, as you are most appealing, as well as others to better cater to their desires, and get information out of them. What is your opinion on the matter?"

Kae wants her to join his council as spy-master, and would suggest operating out of the city's brothel, using sex as an asset in addition to the other tools at a spy-master's disposal.

Mitzune:

If you don't really have a voice for her (Druid who venerates nature that took up her practice among cultures that are perhaps less nature-oriented) i can talk to myself for this one... I am also operating under the assumption that there was the chance encounter with the wolves. The first encounter occurred just after we picked up the new races at the tower and had not gotten to Saravale yet. WOuld it be appropriate to rafer to her as -san or -sama? It depends on her age and the level of respect the other Golds afford her. That would be apparent to kae at this point, having spoken to taedo and being aware of how the titles work.

The general rides out to where the Golden Kobold are and seaks the Female who accompanied him on the Hunt. "Mitzune-san, I thank you again for your assistance on the Hunt. Your ability to communicate with the Wolf-clan proved to be a great boon," he says to the druid, bowing low to her in respect.

"I aim to settle and establish a Citadel on the northern bounds of their lands and wish to respectfully ask that you lend your powers for the good of this land? This Citadel shall protect our eastern boarders, and with the help of the Wolf-clan, this foothold can maintain a very strong presence in the area. Your assistance would be invaluable in keeping the peace between the Dire-wolves and rest of the population."

How old would she be? I'm assuming fairly young, maybe not a child, but still wiser than many fully grown adults. "You are wise beyond your years, and just in camp I had the opportunity to see that you are a woman of great insight. Please, I humbly ask that you consider lending that to me, that my lands, thus the greater kingdom shall benefit from it." Kae's request is accompanied by a low and reverent bow.

I guessing I'll have to pop over to Ry's thread to ask to have a couple Golds for my council, yeah?

Taedo:

To the Wako, Ka'etil also gives an invitation. "I have recently received some interesting advice, regarding the importance of waterways, and the city I aim to raise rests on a riverfront. You have served on ships, of that i am aware, and one of your experience would be valuable in patrolling my lands and protecting the Citadel. I would be Honored if I may attempt to persuade you to join me up river at the Nunavut Dragon's Teeth, Taedo would know the meaning (i decided that it is Draconic, cause why not, it's cool sounding) and get the reference Citadel."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Kenmat:

She nods, stretching a bit languorously – and perhaps unnecessarily – but the effect is not lost on you.

She agrees to your request – and brings to your knowledge the value of something from the southlands to perhaps supercede or augment a mere “brothel”.

Senet House: This “house” is actually a place where people gather to play the game called “Senet” – a game brought north from Osiriani and Khatepesh. Not unlike a small casino or bar – a Senet House is a place where citizens come to drink cold beer, and play the game of chance called Senet – sometimes also playing other minor games of chance. Often exotic tobacco is smoked, sometimes Pesh – but not necessarily. Generally – Senet Houses are like “pool halls” of the modern world. They can be a fun place for entertainment – or very seedy – depending on the cliental.

Bonuses: +2 Loyalty, +2 Economy, +2 Unrest. City base value +250 GP. A fun place – good for money making ventures and keeping people loyal to you over cold mugs of beer – but not always a safe place.

Cost: 6 BP – can be built anywhere. 1x1 squares.

Mitzune:

Remember first – Ry elected to take the clan leader of the people. This is like a minor daimyo – as such; he already has the bulk of them under his sway – and through him – under her sway.

However – he is familiar with certain cultural nuances – and is happy to bring to your knowledge of the Dojo.

Dojo: This is a military training ground for your troops. It can provide them with suitable discipline to focus and fight better as a company.

Bonus: +3 to “Defense Modifier” for Barony/City - +1 for National Level if your troops are used outside of your immediate lands. +1 to Stability, -2 Unrest.

Cost: 8 BP – can be built anywhere. 1x1 squares.

Taedo:

Taedo admits to serving before on ships – and has also been a wako at one point when his master died and be acted a ronnin for a time.

He knows waterways very well – however – he will want to examine yours better. It would be wise to ask him this question formally via the “Natural 20” – perhaps in month 2, as you already exhausted all your questions in month 1.

Male Half-Elf Invulnerable Rager 2/Crossblooded Envenomed+Draconic Sorcerer 1/ Trapper Ranger 1/Rage-Vivisectionist 2/Dragon Disciple 1

Orunla:
I figured this fit better on this page than the main board, taking up space there.

In his augury, Ka'etil requests of the ancestors "This Kobold Orunla reveres 'The Great Serpent' which may be the same entity as the being the Yuan-ti follow. Is this the case, and what does it mean, that this Kobold Orunla was led to me, and that the Yuan-ti have come to us as well?
"

Not really sure what else to say to the other council members. No dialogue going on there, so not sure what else to say.

Not sure what exactly is going on with Mitzune. Sounds like her dynamo gave me information for the Dojo. So do i just get Mitzune of are there conversations to have? Not sure what to do there...

I'm thinking that I'd like to have my warden and general meet up on the road, and show up during a council meeting. I figure it would be fun to play out that sort of silly scene, as the Savage Skald is a little wild and irreverent, and the Warden is a Shoanti tribesman, odd for a Shoanti but still tribal.

If you set a scene, I can give the two of them Aliases and they cay enter the council chambers?

I'd also sent the other two members to meet with Kae in the Barony.

Okay – first thing:

The Ornula question will be answered in full detail – but it counts as one of your “Take 20” for one week. However, on the plus side – this will give you a complete and unabridged answer. It will be completely honest and no “vague issues”. That will be taken care of next month – no worries.

Second – yeah; I have not fleshed out a lot of conversation for social RP. This is because I am working on your board and Ry’s – and also the pirate game, so it is a little much. I’m also trying to move this part through quickly – so we can start the next part of the game formally on level 7: but with you guys having your baronies as cool as they can be – within reason.

I can set a scene for social RP – I’m happy to – but it will take my some time. I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately – and there is a lot of writing going on. I’ve mentioned that I’d like to get some stuff hashed out fast and quick on Skype – I don’t know if you got that message; but if you could give me a time and date to “meet” – I think I can get a lot of it answered fast.

Basically Mitzune provides you with a benefit for your roll. The benefit is the chance to create a new building that is not in the book; but it can be very helpful, if you use it. You got the opportunity to use this building because of your roll. We can RP it out – but it would take a bit of time, so I was just trying to sum up.

Question:

I have a hunch that you’re interested in doing more social RP. I am, too. I want to do it – there is a lot of waiting in the pirate game which bugs me. I want to social RP. However, if you’re up for it – I will do more social RP with you. However – it will be somewhat complex to micromanage so many NPC’s right now. For now – I will take over the primary roll of Ornula – and one other “Primary NPC” to interact via social RP – and some secondary work. But longer writer sessions and complicated back and forth may be a little much at this time. But we’ll see.

I will make a better effort to do the social RP with your barony, though. I want to do more social RP, and feel like things are slowing down. I’d still like a quick conversation with you to nail down any questions about your barony – but I can wait on that.

Do these things sound okay to you so far? Please let me know. Thank you!

I'm pretty swamped most evenings, sadly, and don't really know my schedule. I'll be online till about 530, and then again later tonight at some point, but don't wait up.

I'll also be around till about 530 PST tomorrow before my RL game starts.
Wednesday is about the same deal, although i can possibly get online later in the evening, past 930 west coast time.

So you're saying you can be online until about 8:30 PM east cost time tomorrow?

If so - I will meet you online around 7:30 my time - or 4:30 your time.

Okay - have a good night.
