Regrettably Isani and Cali have failed their saves - Ras - if you tie the DC - does that mean you succeed, or fail?
Just to so you know - the DC is 23.
Meanwhile - Cali has fallen the 20 feet. She takes falling damage, which cannot be negated at this time...
2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 falling damage.
I suppose then the other guy will make his Reflex Roll now, too.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
I believe that roll succeeds - he is not effected.
I may be mistaken by Cali's falling damage - is flying more then a move action for her? If so - please let me know...
Apologies!
Got the DC wrong - it is NOT 23. So - Arasmes makes it - but Cali does not, nor does Isani.
Dain GM |
Tie means I save. and holy hell with the dc 23. even with a 24 in the casting stat plus spell focus and greater spell focus that still makes it a 22 if it's the spell i think it is. Looks like it'll be a TPK guys lol. ;-)
Actually - I was in error. The DC was not 23 - you did save. However - the rest have not at this time.
Dain GM |
Kae - you succeeded! Very good.
Meanwhile - those of you effected are currently "Nauseated".
This means that you cannot do the following:
Attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.
Clari is up - what, if anything - do you want her to do?
Dain GM |
Hmm… - bit of bad news, gang!
It seems that the party by the statue is doing something…
Namely – the guys in “pink” – two of them are picking up the body of what you presume to be Anuk-su. One of them hits a lever by the base of the idol to activate what seems to be a secret passage. The passage opens – and two of them pick her up and carry her inside.
The other two are currently flanking the two more prominent figures. Speaking of which…
Khang has moved up to Brett and watches what has happened with horror!
Meanwhile – the taller of the two figures has drawn his sword, and laughs as a free action.
Isani - you're up. What's your plan?
Dain GM |
How far am I from Anuk-su?
Roughly 165 feet - but on their move the following happened - one of them opened the secret passage as move action and paused.
The second one picked up Anuk-su as a move action - then he used the rest of his movement to walk into the passage.
Then the second one used his move action to walk in the doorway.
They did this as part of their turn.
They are now inside the passage - where they went - you don't know...
Dain GM |
Though we're still waiting for Isani - all she needs to do is back out of the gas cloud.
She cannot do anything else except more forward or backward at this time.
Meanwhile - After Isani goes, then it will be Brett - then Shaezon - then it will be Ariarh and Dior :)
Oh yeah - and Anuk-su has been dragged through the secret passage. But it will probably be open until someone can close it.
Though I had Brett go first... just to move things forward.
Dain GM |
Sorry for holding the party up and the delay in posting.
Isani will move out of the noxious cloud cover, to position -S-19.
What is the radius of this noxious gas and how long does it last? How long are we nauseated?
Good questions -
1. the cloud is 20 foot radius
2. You don't know how long it lasts - that generally depends on the level of the caster
3. How long are you nauseated?
All of you who failed your saves are Nauseated for
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 more rounds - so you will be unable to act except for a move action until 3 more rounds are done. This is all people who have failed the Fortitude save... No spells, no attacks, no skills - so... yeah... However - Ariarh and Dior are not in the gases...
Isani Isu |
So anyone who moves into the 20 foot radius of this noxious gas will have to roll a fortitude save or be nauseated? If that is the case and being that we aren't being told how long the gas lasts, then perhaps we need that drawn on the map, so we know where we should move and where we shouldn't. (Or at least please give us the exact coordinates of the affected squares on the current map.)
waiph |
it lasts 1 round/level, and a moderate wind disperses it in 4 rounds, moderate winds (21+mph) disperses it in 1 round.
SO air elementals or some kind of control wind spell or something would take care of it, although it may be good to get out of the cloud for the three rounds of nausea, and then we take out the enemies, as they are also blocked by the cloud.
The problem with that is that the enemy would get three rounds to act before we start attacking them.
On a side note, cause Kae's in the cloud is there the 20% miss chance due to concealment for anyone that attacks him?
Ariarh Kane |
Just an idea, so throwing it out there. If Clari is still miniature, can't she ride atop Dior?
With Shae's gust of wind spell it will take a round to push the noxious gases away to the edge of its range (60ft), Ariarh begins moving up to position -V-13 and waits (just to the side of the gas (in a safe zone) but still having coverage from it).
Dior will move forward on foot to -U-14 and hold until the noxious gases have dissipated.
On my Sunday (your Saturday) I will not be able to post as I will be back home attending my niece's 3rd birthday party. I will not be home again until mid evening. If my characters need to be NPC'd then please do so. At the moment, I have been conserving my remaining spells (Ariarh's spells until she is closer to the enemy) and Isani is nauseated for 3 rounds and can't do more than single move actions until then. If Isani needs to do anything by the end of this round and I can't post, either have her hold in her current position or if she is in danger, move her to a safe square, please (keep her away from the Fiendish Lion!) (Ras, can you NPC Isani?). Thanks, guys.
Dain GM |
When Shae's turn rolls around he'll use Gust of WInd to disperse it.
You cast gust of wind - the gas shall be dispersed in one round - which means that at the top of the Ini for you next round - it is all gone, as it takes a full round to disperse.
That said - Clari is "Reduced" - I don't know how big she is - or if she could fit on Dior. Kae may be able to tell you more on that subject.
Re:question - it's possible, yes - but not really the way the spell/verse volcano works. Let's say it would probably take a little bit - but it would depend on what you're doing specifically. Ice Storm wouldn't be affected - but an Ice Elemental is likely to be effected - but only after a few rounds... I think. Anyone else know the answer, toss it up.

Groovy. YAY I did something effective!

Clari is small sized, so she could ride medium creatures, but then she'd have to concentrate for every round she wants to cast so that'll hurt her a bit. She'll be better off on foot once she can attack again.
She's about Brett's size, really

Ry - you really have no idea... However; Isani sure has a clue! The pieces are all falling together - it all makes sense now! Of course - and the answer is....
Oh - sorry, Isani is so sick she cannot tell the group what she is aware of... yet. But - don't worry - your rolls where sweet - technically, you had a "rolling" set of successes. In other words - your knowledge: Planes check was not high enough - but pretty damn close. Your knowledge Religion was way off - and your Knowledge Arcana was just enough.
So - the Arcana gave your mind the tip about the religion - which gave you the tip about the planar aspect - which allowed you to solve the puzzle!
Sadly - you are sick - and cannot talk - normally I might allow it as a free action - but when you are Nauseated you cannot make an attack, cast spells, maintain spells or do anything that requires attention - like a spell-like ability - and (theoretically) a skill check. So - I will say Isani solved the case - but - sadly - she is unable to do anything right now except gag. Don't worry - when she can talk - I'll tell you what you found out. I don't want to tempt anyone with extra knowledge laying around....
Dain GM |
Oh yeah!
Forgot to mention - the cloud also has one other problem... I'll toss that up here...
The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can't use sight to locate the target).
So - yay team good!
Which reminds me - it's the bad guys turn!
(Oh yeah - Dhoj and Grod merely took the time to move back out of the cloud - gasping, choking and retching - even as you do...)

Guy at –Z, -3 is moving to –X, -5
Guy at –X, -1 is moving to –V, -5.
At this point they are just out of range of Kae’s weapon. However – Kae is still in the cloudy vapor. Not sure where he is – they decide to do something about it…
Kae – you feel a bubbling sticky goo splatter your body; shortly after that – another blast of goo. I need you to do the following –
Make a Fortitude save – then – make another Fortitude save –
1. First set of damage – 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4) = 13
2. Second set of damage – 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5) = 11
Kae – to help relieve some stress – know that a successful Fortitude roll will negate half damage. Each roll is applied to each attack – one for one. If you have any special bonuses or saves against Poison as an Alchemist – now would be a good time to tell me. Thank you!
Kae –
Also – it is now your turn. I need to know if you remain in the poison gas, or if you move out because clearly you cannot see your target if you are inside the gas. They only managed to hit you because they had a “cone effect” – and guessed you hadn’t moved – which you hadn’t.
Question for all –According to the spell, if Kae remains in it – he Kae should have some concealment bonus – does that apply to effects which are “area of affect”? Please let me know – it could be important to Kae. Thank you!
Arasmes ibn'Fayad |
It depends on the area of the area of effect. They can't see him at all then they might not be able to target the right squares for the area of effect. Now if the area of effect is a 20' radius then it wont matter too much but if it is a 5' radius that's a completely different story. Since it seems like a poison spit or something like that, a 5' radius is probably right but I don't know usually poison is a targeted effect.
EDIT: Nevermind, no in this case with the cone there is no modifier for concealment. Since it was a cone effect.

We're basically waiting on Kae...
To all: Remember - this Sunday we'll have battle map and skype to hopefully finish this event off... hopefully the good guys win... But - that's up to you all... and luck!

Hey, anybody wanna skype on monday night to finish this fight? I'd say sunday, but i'm busy then.
Now, the issue with the attacks is that i got no idea what they were. If they were some kind of spell that has to target me, it would polly work cause I only have partial concealment at this point. If they were a targeted spell, or something that takes an attack, it requires an attack with 20% miss chance, but dunno how i was targeted or with what.
so to figure that one out, Here's a spellcraft checks for each one.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
The DC is 15+spell level, so anything below a Lv4 or Lv7 spells he can identify.
Fort saves
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Hear's my problem, They seem to have cast a spell within range of Kae's 10 ft reach. He's at -X,-7, which is within his reach so his AoO should have gone off, and He should be able to hit the guy at -x,-7 with an attack right now.
So what just happened?

So what just happened?
Couple of things - as long as you remain inside the "cloud cover" - you can't see out to make your AoO - until you step up out of it; because the covering prevents seeing anything - even preventing Darkvision.
So you wouldn't have been able to see them to attack them unless you had "blindfight".
Next - you made your Fortitude saves - which is good, you suffered only half-damage.
Next - I'm going to throw you guys a bone here, even though you wouldn't know it (since you can't see it) - they did not use a spell on you just now. They used something that had a "Cone Effect" - which means they didn't need to target a specific area - they used something that basically pushed a "Cone Effect" into the fog cloud and gambled that they would hit you were last - which they did, as you didn't move.
You are completely able to attack these guys, if you simply step out of the cloud. If you choose not to, that's fine, too.
But it is your move - you are free to move out, or wait. It's up to you, though.
However - If you are able to make an AoO against an enemy when you can't see him - your attack certainly works and does damage! I am not certain, though, and believe you can't attack them unless you can see them. If I'm wrong, then your attack will go off.
Ka'etil Malas'rae |
I'm barely in the cloud, so it's only partial concealment, meaning that I can see, not too well, so I just gotta toss my miss chance for the AoO, he needs a concentration check based on the damage dealt if it hits, and then I can take a swing as a standard action.
20% Miss chance on the AoO
1d100 ⇒ 32
Can't get to the AoO I posted, but it has the attack and damage listed. Can't look up the dc of a concentration check to cast the spell but it's somehow based on damage...
On his turn, kae attacks, and then moves back out the cloud, but I gotta check his stats for the numbers
Dain GM |
Ah - very good then. You are able to hit verse the successful Miss Chance - so that is good - and your damage was 19 points; so noted.
Meanwhile - two quick things -
1. Where did you move specifically? Like, what is your coordinates? I need to know for THEIR move.
2. Also - via spellcraft? They did not cast a spell on you just now, so you did not interrupt a spell.
Also - it IS your turn - so yeah - I need to know where you move, and who you attack once you move out of the cloud.
Does your DR work against Poison? I need to know for DR for the attack.
Ka'etil Malas'rae |
Kae swings where he stands again
Miss Chance
1d100 ⇒ 79
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 3 - 2 = 18
for
1d10 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 6 = 24
THen he backs up to -V,-13
no DR for energy attacks, so kae takes the 11 damage, but now that he's out of the cloud, he's safe from the cloud.
did the 18 hit? please?
Dain GM |
Okay - As you recall, Anuk-su was taken back through the secret passage that the entire party is avoiding. This is - of course - the same passage that the enemy seems to be guarding; the same passage that they have not moved away from...
Meanwhile - you have no idea if you put your target down, as you have moved back through the clouds, but you are pretty sure you hit your target as you did feel a rather meaty "thwack".
That said - it is now a few NPC turns. So I moved them; sadly - you cannot see them through the cloud.
However - It is Arasmes/Cali's turn.
