The cowboy smiled. "Matrix? I would have to say I know a bit about it. If it's imputed, electronic or mechanical, I can most likely do something with it. Although, I'm not one to sit back and 'hack' as the term was used, but be up close with the action. I've got someartis training as well as know how to shoot."

"I believe we only need one more thing from our bosses," Neko makes a vague gesture toward the troll and the dancer, [b]"Once we acquire this book, how exactly will we make delivery and receive payment?"

Once that detail is addressed, "Perhaps we should find somewhere a little more private to hash out the details... I know a hotel off the strip that has a business suite available for cheap. It should be secure enough."

If there are no objections or suggestions for a better site to continue the discussion, Neko will book a conference room for a few hours and meet everyone there.

Legwork:
∙ Physical, astral, and matrix-based surveillance on the penthouse to establish the defenses we'll have to deal with.
∙ Learn what we can about our target, check news for any mention of stolen tomes.
∙ Someone may have a connection to the book for ritual spell casting... it might be prudent to prepare a container with astral wards to transport the book after it is stolen.
...add to the list as you see fit!

Male Dwarf

Going to a conference room is fine with me. As far as scouting out the defenses, maybe we could sub-contract a local go-gang or other group of runners to make a dry run, and see what kind of counter-measures spring up.

Male Half-Giant Monk (Master of Many Styles) 1

I think that would just put them on alert.

I agree. Something like that would definitely put them on alert. However, what about setting something up to trigger one of the penthouse entrance alarms on a random basis through a few hours. Might be enough to get them focused on that entrance, and let us slip in another way....

Male Ork Shaman

I was thinking about using some of that expense account to get a nearby room to help with the recon. My agent can probably help book the accomodations, if necessary. We almost certailnly want to keep this low-key and sneeky... unless Las Vegas has changed a lot, the number one rule is that you keep violent crime (and noticable criminal activity in general) off the strip- or else! We really don't want to anger the powers-that-be who run Vegas...

It'll depend on what we find during our recon, but introducing glitches into their security systems could definitely be a good move as long as it doesn't cause the node admins to pay more attention to what's going on; that the default response to secuirty probes is to bump up the security on the affected node and roll out more ICE... you hacker-types can figure all that out IC once our GM returns

Male

@Peter I had assumed you were still in the back room in the strip club but everyone else wants to move about for sometime. So you can reconvene in a conference room. I have no problem with that.

The strippers says to send them a message when you have acquired the goods and payment will be left in a disclosed location.

can someone give me a concise list of what you want. I have a lot on my plate but want to keep this game running. I just need short and sweet for the next couple of weeks in addition to what you are talking about in character. Thank you all for bearing with me.

Male Ork Shaman

@GM:

1. I'd like to speak with my agent (a 3/3 contact) about booking a penthouse suite at the Luxor. If he can find a way to tie it into my career to give me a good excuse for being there, and book me for a few hours at some event on the strip that'd be great. A speaking engagement, bike show, combat sports convention, metahuman rights rally... anything like that.

2. I'd also like to speak with White Buffalo Woman (a 5/3 contact) to see if she knows anything about the theft of a magical tome. This sort of thing is right up her alley and it seems likely she would have at least heard rumors...

Male

Neko:
Your agent says the best he is able to do is book you a suite two floors below the penthouse suite. Apparantly that is booked by someone else. The Suite will require you to do two exhibitions of your skills and a meet and greet for two hours before each event.
As far as White Buffalo Woman goes she says she would prefer not to talk about this over the matrix and you can meet her at a diner in the suburbs of Las Vegas.

Male Ork Shaman

"So, team... I'm going to chase down some contacts. I'll meet you at the conference room of the Lakeside Motel when I know something- unless you want to meet somewhere else? OK, here's my number if you need me."

Neko makes a small, almost theatrical motion of tossing something in the air.
In AR: He lobs a business card toward the table. It shimmers for a moment and settles into a small maneki neko statue that comes to rest squarely in the middle of the table.

Once he leaves the club and climbs on Sarge (his bike, described in 'UCB gear' section of character sheet) Neko focuses for a minute and calls up a minor spirit to watch over him as he rides and notify him if it sees anyone following him astrally. The diminutive figure made of flickering neon lights and rubbish nods its head and vanishes into the astral realm as Neko takes off with a roar of turbocharged engines.

@GM: I'm going to meet up with WBW at the diner.

Neko summons a force 1 spirit of man and asks it to use its Guard power as its service. I handwaved the summoning, since it is a force 1 spirit, we're not in combat, and the absolute worst that could happen with terrible luck is that I'd take a bit of drain and be fine in a few minutes. Let me know if you'd rather I put up all the rolls...

Male Irish Fighter 1

This is not really for me...the best I can do might be to have a look at the place myself...but not AS myself.

Liam will head outside and head towards the building where the run will take place.
Before reaching it he will stop in an alley or something and cast physical mask on himself, using his sustaining foci to avoid having to concentrate on it.
Then he will simply pass by the building and have a quick look at it.

Physical mask force 3: 9d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 1, 6, 4, 3, 1, 4) = 33
Three successes
Drain 3: 9d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6, 6) = 40

Male Dwarf

Gh0st will scope out the lobby the next day, after using Physical Mask to take on the appearance of a rich, young, better-looking playboy (and resting for a few hours to recover from whatever drain. He'll be on the lookout for any female staff or residents that he could potentially seduce to gain better access.

Male

Just got into a new place. I should have Internet by this weekend.

Male Human Technomancer

Are we DoA then?

Male Half-Giant Monk (Master of Many Styles) 1

I certainly hope not
