Benefit You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (local) checks, and Knowledge (local) is always a class skill for you. In addition, you can choose any one law-abiding citizen of Sandpoint from below as an ally;

Ameiko is one of Sandpoint’s most influential and beloved nobles. Her inn/tavern is the most popular in town, and as one of her friends, you’re guaranteed a place to eat and sleep for free. She’s got lots of great contacts with merchants as well, and she’ll sell any of your loot for you.

Benefit You gain an additional 10% over the amount of gp you normally would get from selling off treasure.

Trait2: Rich Parents, You were born into a rich family, perhaps even the nobility, and even though you turned to a life of adventure anyway, you enjoyed a one-time benefit to your initial finances.

your armor bonus from armors are counted as damage reduction instead. for example, studded leather counts as DR of 3. hope that helps.

Thanks! Cerinnibert's equipment and extra trait are done.

Variant ability: 1d100 ⇒ 38 = Once per day, you can generate a glowing aura that emanates in a 20-foot radius centered on you. Any creature within the aura that is at negative hit points stabilizes immediately. The aura lasts for 1 round.

Interesting...

Would Cerinnibert start just as he arrives, or would he have been in the city a while?

When exactly do you plan to start the game? I am asking because I will be going on a retreat starting thursday - I will have internet access during the retreat so no problem playing, but thursday and sunday will be long driving days and probably won't be able to check in en route... I hope we will be either well into the game (or not started yet) by then so I don't miss the intros.

Well depends on how you can get the backstories to mesh enough for there to be pre-game relationships among the characters. Some might work out better than others for doing so. Alric can have met just about anyone who has traveled in Varisia due to his years sailing between Korvosa and Sandpoint and Magnimar... but that was years ago, so might not work for fairly young human characters. I dunno... what did you have in mind?

Back story for Arabeth.

Born to the North and raised in the Temple in Riddle Port Arabeth has been visiting Sandpoint both on 'Church business' and as a way to escape both the temple duties and the more 'grimier' aspect of Riddle port for quite a few years now.

In her times coming to Sandpopint she has made a fast friend in Ameiko, often staying at the Rusty Dragon when ever she is in town.

So...who else took Amieko as a 'Trait' background thing? We could all know each other through her?

Well, Alric didn't take Ameiko as a trait background thing, but he works at the Sandpoint Theatre and would probably be a frequent visitor to the Rusty Dragon, so could know anyone who hangs around the place. He's pretty gregarious and likes to meet people, so would work at making friends around the place.

his backstory is in his alias, not gonna repeat the whole thing here.. but simply told - born in cheliax, raised in magnimar, ran away from home to go to sea, spent time in korvosa, spent time in magnimar, now in sandpoint.

I mean, when I see your character for the first time, I may say "Good to see you, Alric! Still got the scar from Madam Mvashti when she bit your ear, huh? Those were good times!" and hug you.

Or when we're trapped in a room with a dire wolf on the other side of a door, and say "This dogs at least better behaved then that flat-faced little dog your ex kept when you broke up. What was it's name? The one that pee'd on my cloak?

It's just referencing points in our history. And we can addlib great stories and relationship quirks from there. We do it at my table all the time. Makes for hilarious moments.

lol... well, i'm in a skulls & shackles game and half the fun is getting to know each other, so i'm up for going either way in this one too... I already greeted Aimea in character as if we were strangers... though it's not set in stone, it's not like I called her by her first name or anything.

but if you want to play like we've met before blythe, that's fine... just nothing about exes, because he doesn't have an ex anything - he's been kinda sexually traumatized and shies away from intimate relationships.


My character has not been in town for long... but if you want, maybe you knew her in Magnimar?

Ronin - Well, if your character is from Magnimar she is probably familiar with the Morgaine family. The family is a major merchanting concern from Cheliax, maintaining a family compound as well as several warehouses in the city. Alric hasn't spent a lot of time there lately, but before settling in Sandpoint, he traveled with several caravans, and Magnimar was one of their destinations, so he has been back. Could easily have met there.

Jarl has not been in town long, either, and has spent the past many years traveling as a low-ranking member of a Varisian caravan, responsible for entertaining/distracting the locals while the clan was in town. Not the sort of person or arrangement that forms close ties with those outside the clan.

I understand your desire, Blythe, but as a smuggler you are more likely to have been viewed as competition to the caravan's clan than as a friend.

and Jarl - based on your background, it's unlikely Alric and you have met, since your caravan probably isn't the kind to hire outsider guards. But perhaps you've been in town long enough to visit the Rusty Dragon or the Sandpoint Theatre, in which case we might have met casually.

That's possible, Alric was a caravan guard for about 3 years traveling the circuit between Korvosa-Sandpoint-Magnimar. He's been a Sandpoint resident now for about a year, so his caravan days are pretty much behind him. So if you were involved in smuggling 1-4 years ago, meeting Alric on the road is a real possibility. That could easily be a good connection for our characters.

Cerinnibert has spent the last 50 years traveling all over, and has spent quite a while at sea, so he could have spent some time on a ship with Alric. Or maybe he had dealings with your parents in Magnimar or Cheliax?

He did travel with that caravan for a while, but he did not think there were any Kitsune in it, although there was that baby they seemed to always keep bundled up...

Oh, and Bleeding Rosa, she was fun! He could tell you stories about her in her youth...

He has not been in Sandpoint before now, but he would probably be getting some attention, coming into town and claiming Something Bad is going to happen...

any or all of those are possible, Ceri, time spent at sea together and/or you could have had dealings with the Morgaine Merchant House of Cheliax or their 'satellite office' in Magnimar, although dealings with the family would not have a strong connection with Alric since he's been mostly estranged from the family for about 15 years.

Well, it is the ONLY Kitsune avatar on the server. I spent some time looking for an avatar based on Jarl's human form, first, but didn't find any that had more prominent eyes which I thought fit the character, so . . ..

it doesn't mention you have the ability to fly anywhere in the link, you have the option later with feats.
