If the creatures still alive Awveyen will continue attacking it if not move the attack to the archer. Also since technically I go before Ceric both enemies should not be prone yet.
Awveyen lets loose another arrow at the creature.

Ragnar Gurnison |
Ragnar looked at his adamantine greatsword and said with a smile.
I have the key to the statue if you want.
Awveyen Thillvahna |
Yes very annoying. Ragnar I worry that destroying any of these statues would hurt our chances at peaceful negotiations. Comments Awveyen as he move up to the statue and lines up another shot at the archer.

I forgot to mention (since I don't have a map as a visual aid)..but if it's possible to move out of the line of fire/get behind cover..Ceric will have moved towards that.
DaWay |
Ratfolk is dead from the magic missile
Ragnar you are not able to find the secret floor.
To retcon things for a minute, Awveyen's last arrow did hit which killed the ratfolk, the arrow never hit ceric, Ceric you still have your protection from evil spell.
You are now out of combat.
Junichiro |
defeating the target of his challenge, Junichiro recovers one use of his resolve. 3 remaining
So there was also a ratfolk among our attackers? I expected Aspis agents, but it seems the political troubles here have overtaken us. I think it would be wise to find out what faction he belonged to. Maybe we also can gather something from this monstrosity here...
Unless our spells run out soon, we should take a moment to glance behind those doors. I don't like these kind of surprises, and I'd like to know who is responsible, and what esle goes on in this court before we meet the empress.
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
"Hrm....no door? How did someone get inside it? Do one of you see any hidden openings?"
Kinda hoping Awveyen can find a secret door here
"Unless we ignore the fact that we just got attacked and keep moving up the stairs"
Ceric glances around at the rest of the party
Ragnar Gurnison |
We must know who attacked us. It was clearly an ambush. Assassin payed by the Aspis or another faction of the ratfolk. We must know to be prepared., I'm siding with Junichiro here.
Awveyen Thillvahna |
Awveyen will search the statue from top to bottom looking for a secret door or some other way inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37
Awveyen Thillvahna |
I though so but wasn't sure.
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
I thought we had found 4 secret doors..wasn't sure about one being in the statue...there might be way leading there from behind one of the other secret doors though if there's no direct way in from this side.
DaWay |
Awyeven does indeed find a secret door on the right calf of the statue to the rat god. Ascending the passage that was clearly not meant for beings of your stature reveals a dead ratfolk with massive burns on its chest he carries mundane gear in addition to a potion of bull's strength, potion of CMW, +1 dwarf bane bolt, +1 human bane bolt, screaming bolt, 2 alchemist's fire, and a tanglefoot bag.
The other secret rooms contain nothing.
Assuming you want to go up the spiral staircase.
This chamber, finished in jet-black marble, stands atop the Pagoda of the Rat. Four diamond-shaped pillars and a larger round central column support the ceiling high above. A staircase winds down around the column to the floors below. Carved writing covers much of each of the smaller pillars. Barred windows in each direction open onto the dark cavern outside. Thousands of faceted crystals set into the dark stone ceiling shed faint light, mimicking stars in the canopy of the ebony night sky. Small tables and chairs sit beyond the pillars in three of the four corners of the room. The fourth corner holds a larger table holding a pair of maps and several tattered journals.
This chamber has a 30-foot-high ceiling. The crystal stars, while attractive and slightly luminescent, have no significant value. Together, they provide dim lighting in the chamber. The writing on the pillars records the lives of the generations of ratfolk who lived and died since Round Mountain was ripped free of Golarion. Only the bottom quarter of each pillar remains untouched.
hidden sliding stone panel set into the central pillar.
hidden sliding stone panel set into the central pillar. It sits 5 feet above the floor on the pillar and can be found with a successful DC 25 Perception check. Beyond the secret door, a 5-foot-wide shaft runs down the center of the pillar to a hidden cavern beneath the Pagoda of the Rat. The 150-foot descent is eased by a ladder built into the shaft.

Ragnar Gurnison |
To late for us it seems. Thanks Awveyen to be such a good guide for us ! Your eyes miss nothing which is great !
I agree with Ceric, if there is nothing of value here we must hurry and check where they went.
For his ease of mind Ragnar casted detect magic, checking the room.
Awveyen Thillvahna |
Awveyen gives Ragnar an appreciatory nod and then steps into the shaft and proceedes to fly slowly down the shaft.

As you descend further down first Awveyen can see, then the rest. Dozens if not hundreds of rats looking at you, starring at you. Most are normal but there are some dire in the crowd. They make no move on you, only stare at you.
Two rats in particular seem to be interested in the party, as Awveyen spots yet another secret door.
Awveyen Thillvahna |
I prefer to stay above, commnets Awvyen as he glides through the air above the rats, I believe these must be the Empress's 'handmaidens. Do them no harm and treat them with respect for we do not want to anger the Empress. There is another secret door just ahead I have a feeling we are almost to our destination.

"My companion here will explain why we are here, but let me assure you..it is not our intention to cause harm"
Aid Diplomacy attempt: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Junichiro |
The samurai bows courteously in the traditional manner.
Greetings, esteemed citizen of the round mountain.
As my companions have indicated, we are diplomats who seek to establish good relations between the Round Mountain and our employers. We are send by the Pathfinder Society. I do not know if and what you already know about it, but let me assure you that we are here with the best intentions, and that we mean no harm.
To that end we ascended the pagoda, hoping to meet the empress in the topmost chamber. We found it empty instead, but tracks led us to this place.
We would normally not use the secret ways in the property of another uninvited, but we fear a sinister plot is going on that could harm all of you. Forgive us, but we thought it wiser to go to the bottom of this first. Time could very much be of the essence.
Can you tell us if she came this way, and if so, could you tell us who accompanied her? Were there other humans with her?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25 Using Raganar's wayfinder and "honor in all things"

The rat shapeshifts into a young ratling, the dire rat companion stays at her side. If you want to establish relations with my country mean, I would recommend not doing it through that tyrant the Undying empress.
In time, the ratfolk mastered their new environment and even prospered. They dubbed the stolen sphere of Nar-Voth Round Mountain, and claimed it as their home. In a chasm at its heart they built a great pagoda of quarried stone, half temple and half warren. Within they enshrined mementos of their life on Golarion and their glorious year of conquest in Lung Wa. Within her pocket dimension, Hao Jin collected countless other curiosities and wonders. In time she vanished from mortal affairs, yet her museum realm remained, reachable through the fabled the Hao Jin Tapestry, which was itself part of Hao Jin’s unparalleled collection. The creatures inside this pocket dimension survived and developed their own cultures and civilizations. Among the creatures trapped within the isolated demiplane—whisked away with the ruins and temples they lived in—was the rakshasa Durriya, who was trapped in the plane centuries before the rats of Round Mountain. She saw in the ratfolk ideal tools for her own ambition: to escape the tapestry and ultimately build a base of power and influence on the Material Plane. Disguised as one of the ratfolk’s own, Durriya proclaimed herself the chosen of the Tian rat goddess Lao Shu Po. She ensorcelled their warlord and proclaimed herself undying queen of the ratfolk of Round Mountain. Under Durriya’s leadership, the ratfolk rose to dominate much of the Hao Jin Tapestry, and their civilization is one of the most stable and influential in the entire realm. Now stylizing herself empress, the rakshasa schemes to escape the tapestry and spread her rule beyond its weave.
Awveyen Thillvahna |
As outsiders we do not feel it is prudent to upset the statuesque. If the Empress is the current ruler of this lands we would like to speak to her, if the there is a change of leadership we will then present our case to the new regime. The elf speaks in a polite, non-confrontational, tone and then mimics the samurai's bow. Although he adds cautiously, if outsiders are already involved in the current political upheaval we are willing to throw in our support. Especially if the other foreigners are members of the Aspis Consortium. They would be wearing badges similar to this. He shows the ratfolk the badge found in the ruble of the sundered path.
Ragnar Gurnison |
It seems this "Empress" is not what she seems to be, but merely a powerfull evil outsider in the guise of a Ratfolk.
I know what an evil outsider can do to a country, Irisen is such a land. If not for the Shadow Pathfinder, I will still be a slave in this corrupted land.
The aspis is surely already ploting with this "empress" to go back to the material planes and seising a piece of land.
I will prefer to follow the advice of this ratling and try to stop this empress once and for all.
But, our mission is to establish pacified contact and treaty with the ratfolk so, if agreeing with the empress is the price to do it, I will agree to pay it.
He turned to the young ratling and said
Can you tell us what will happen if we side against the Empress ? Can you assure us, if the revolution will turn in your favor, the support of your people to the Pathfinder Society ?
DaWay |
Sweetie, siding against the B!@ch queen will be in your and our favor. She has long held sway over our land and it seems to me that you want to make an alliance with us ratfolk rather than the queen. You have proven that by trying to fight the dragon. If you take her out, I will be the next leader of my kind and I guarantee a fruitful relationship between our peoples as our people will no longer live in the squalor you saw on your travels here. She extends a padded limb to close the deal, Make your decision Durriya and the Aspis Consortium or myself and the ratfolk you were sent to make a deal with.
I feel as if you skipping so much of the lower level of the pagado dismissed a lot of the enmity you would have developed for Durriya
Junichiro |
If the empress is already in league with the Aspis Consortium, then we will stand against her.
The throne room showed no signs of struggle. The empress went willingly with the Aspis agents, and we have been tasked to stop them.
If we are offered a deal that is good for our employers and for those who live here, I'd call it a win.
Nobility and proper government are to be respected, but with those offices come responsibilities. The people deserve a government that cares for them, and is of their own, and not impostors from other planes.
With a bow the samurai says to the Ratling:
We have been here only a short while and do not yet know all the intricacies of what has been going on, although the picture is now getting clearer. My colleagues are cautious, and wise to be so. We will pursue the Aspis agents, as is our task, and probably confront the empress as well. I do not assume that our goals will align with hers, but we will have to ascertain that for ourselves. For myself I would rather establish a relationship on behalf of my employers with you, and other true representatives of your people than with an Outsider.
Bowing deeper, he continues:
We have not yet been introduced; I am Junichiro, Samurai from the Goemoto family. With whom do I have the honor?
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
It still feels weird to skip rooms..but it seemed to make sense in character at the time..
Ceric stays quite on the background, listening but not weighing in on the conversation taking place
