The Inn has a number of patrons in for breakfast. All eyes are upon Brogg until Red heads down, it seems that word of the unusual patrons has spread overnight and these patrons as opposed to being fearful are actually here to gawk.
In the middle of the room with enough chairs for all of you marked reserved, is a table. One of the patrons at a table nearby turns to Theo, "A Quest eh? You mean your life Quest, that's what Gnomes do yes?"
Coming over from the bar is Soze! "A Quest Samuel, what sort of Quest have you gotten yourself involved in since just last night?" He sits in one of the seats right next to the Hnome.
Neither Eldren nor Gaurm are down yet.

Hurudithya Griffontamer
As you open teh door standing next to Drraven is a human female cleric. She is pretty, for a human, flowing red locks, hypnotic green eyes and the colorful robes of Branchala accentuate her best features.
"Good morning Revered Daughter Hurudithya Griffontamer, I am Aristal Firesoul. I am sorry I was not able to attend to you last night but I understand you stated the matter was urgent so I made sure to come to you before the Conclave meets this morning. Tell me, what is it I can do for you?"
Eldren Vacaris |
Eldren barely manages to stifle a sigh as he starts to descend the stair leading to the common room and sees the Black Robe. The other man has already started talking Theo it seems.
"Good morning," he greets the ones already gathered, Soze included. Not like he has a choice after all. Always mistrustful of those of his Order, he had nevertheless found him amicable enough so far. Still the news of a war is enough it seems to remind him of those feelings of distrust.
"Quest might be too... important-sounding a term, I think," the pale mage says softly, trying to downplay what they had all found themselves involved in.
Gaurm |
Gaurm descends the stairs a few minutes after Eldren and Red have made their way down. He is fully armed and armored, but seems a bit out of sorts. He sits beside the others, silent save for ordering his breakfast, and fingers a pendant worked into a crude symbol of Kiri-Jolith.
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
I thought I had gone to the Temple of Mishakel to talk to the head of the Temple there?
Eldren Vacaris |
"It has indeed been quite interesting so far," Eldren agrees with a smile. "And it is probably going to be even more so down the road. And something tells me that suits you just fine, Theo, yes?"
Astinus the Chronicler |
I thought I had gone to the Temple of Mishakel to talk to the head of the Temple there?
The night before you did but she was busy. Instead the Revered Daughter came to you before you could leave. Plus the Conclave is to take place in the Cathedral of Branchala.

Soze seems a bit indifferent, "Perhaps we can meet for dinner then Theo, you and I have much to discuss. It is good that you will both spend time together today as I will be busy with Falseed negotiating a hard bargain it seems". He appears a bit frustrated.
The patron shrugs at Theo's answer and gets back to his breakfast.
Breakfast is served to you all as Soze excuses himself to head back upstairs. When the meal is finished a few patrons offer to buy Gaurm and Brogg and Red and Zsar drinks to stay and chat. This reception today from the people of the city is much warmer than yesterday's reception to be sure. Eddie, Eldren and Theo are all but ignored with the presence of their unusual companions present.
You can stay and RP or just head to the Cathedral.

Thank you Daughter of Astarin, but my conversation is for the Daughter of Quenesti Pah she says with a friendly smile I apologize for the misunderstanding
Astinus the Chronicler |
This is the same Cathedral with the Kara?
Correct, she is an Acolyte of Branchala.

This IS who you want to speak to, she is the Cleric of Mishakal who you were told was there inspecting the bodies of Remy's parents.

The group is short on small talk as they make their approach to the Cathedral each lost in their own thoughts (though Theo continues to speak of his interest in excruciating detail!). The crowded streets make way for the unusual group obtaining as many fascinated looks as they do scowls. None challenge the passage of you and yours though some look like they may want to, the formidable warriors are so imposing ion their size and height that none do.
As the Cathedral looms before you it is obvious that gaining entrance will not be easy. A ring of warriors wearing the colors of the City State keep citizens who are viewing the front entrance at bay. The Cathedral itself is decorated in vibrant colors and soft music ebbs from nowhere clearly a magical effect. The banners of all of the Gods flap in the wind from various positions over the massive double door front entrance of the Cathedral.
On the front stairs there appears to be a welcoming ceremony taking place by the Revered Son of the Cathedral whom some of you met the previous day, Father Dent.
The stairs are filled with Clerics of each of the Gods of "Good", at least you assume so as each Cleric forming a column wears different colors. From the back it is impossible to see their holy symbols to be sure. Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and even Kender stand upon the stairs as the Revered Son speaks. His voice is drowned out by the crowd on hand.
The two groups of elves are separated by the rest of the Races, you assume those you do not recognize to the the Qualinesti. Among the
None of you see Huru among those upon the stairs though it appears that perhaps not all Clerics who should be in attendance are present yet.
Do you wait for the ceremony to end and then try and approach or speak to some of the guards now?

I am confused, you said she was dressed as a cleric of Branchala
Eldren Vacaris |
Eldren watches patiently and with interest. He is as composed as ever, though noticing the gnome's enthusiasm and happy expression does bring a smile to his face. 'He would make for a... unique Black Robe if he does actually go down that road, that much at least is certain,' he ponders briefly.

Typo. This is the cleric you are looking for.

The ceremony drones on for some time. Though your group does garner some attention most eyes are fixed on those upon the stairs.
Perhaps nearly an hour later, the Priests complete whatever greetings or rituals were required and they all retire to within the Cathedral.
Most of the crowds disperse but the guards remain. You can see that besides the guards that are Tarsian Watch Members, many other Martial contingents are present. Elven fighters of House Protector, Monks of different orders, even a contingent from the Knights of Solamnia, the dwarves too have a heavily honored honor guard in attendance. The Kender it seems have no one but themselves but that is not all that surprising, they have no true Martial tradition in their race.
Actions?
Theodore Samuel Walden ... |
Apologies, but Theo is a reactionary-type character; although, admittedly, most of mine do push the action. Theo is tough for me.
The ever-curious gnome claps his hands.
Ok. What's next!
Gaurm |
This trip to the temple not being, primarily, Gaurm's errand, he will tail the others when they move forward. His holy symbol, the bull's head of Kiri-Jolith, is clearly visible hanging from his neck.
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
The Daughter of Mishakel will inquire of the head of the Tarisian Order about her investigation into the death of Remy's parents as they make their way to the meeting.
Eldren Vacaris |
"Well, that was... interesting," Eldren simply states, though there is a certain lack of conviction behind the words. And then he spots the kender. And, quite possibloy contrary to any semblance of common sense, he approaches them.
"Excuse me? Hello, yes. Would you by any chance have seen a multicolored-haired -blond, red and... err... green, I believe- kender girl around?" He manages a mental sigh. 'Woman? Girl? Difficult to tell sometimes...,' he ponders briefly. And then another sigh. A barely audible one this time.

The city guards move aside allowing Eddie and Theo as well as Eldrin to pass by.
Gaurm, Brogg, Zsar and Red are eyed by the guards but they say nothing to any of you, were you to move forward it is not clear what they would do. They are not staring but when they scan the crowds more often than not the Guards linger over the forms of your figures. Some of the Guards on the stairs head to the front of the Temple and enter with the contingents of Clerics that they accompanied leaving the stairs much less crowded.
The City Guards working crowd control for the ceremony begin to drift off and return to street patrol. One in particular sees your group standing together and approaches, "Morning travelers. The Captain told me that we might find you here. I am Caleb Trin, would you mind terribly if I escorted you through the city today?"
Eldrin
Eldrin catches the attention of one of the Kender clerics as they are entering last, "Oh hullo. I am Revered Son Jander Whisperwire. Nice to meet you! Did you know that I worship Habbakuk? His symbol is a Phoenix, a Blue Phoenix, I always was told that Phoenix or is it Phoeni? Were Red! Ohh are you a Wizard or just a merchant with a fancy cloak? Say I have seen a girl by that name, Rin was her name!" he states as you see him slip a hand into one of your pockets and produce a spell component, "Geez, you dropped this! What if you need it for something, you really should be more careful".
Eddie & Theo
As you both climb the stairs looking for Kara, you did not spot her yet, closing in on the front door, a Knight of Solamnia in full armor steps into your path. "Can I help you with something citizen? The Cathedral will be closed off from public visits for some time I am afraid due to the events about to take place".

Instead of moving Aristal sits, "It would be best if we discussed that particular crime here privately Revered Daughter Hurudithya.
If we must miss the opening ceremony so be it.
On the day of the murders, I was summoned to the Broussard home partially because I was friendly with Kythia Broussard. When I arrived at the home the assailants bodies had decomposed in a manner that I can only describe as unnatural. Attempts to summon their departed souls for questioning yielded no results, it was as if there was not trace left of them body or soul. Highly unusual magic to be used for a petty crime. It was clear that there was purpose to the attempt to slay the entire Broussard family.
Remytheus has lived his entire life in Tarsis, in most places I would imagine that the life of a half-elf is difficult one elven and one human parent is unusual. Here, both Kythia and Kannir were themselves half-elves and popular entertainers in the city. I daresay that the family lived a rather idyllic life in Tarsis prior to this tragedy.
My point is that they had no enemies here in the city. No one that could be pointed to as the culprit for this event.
The City Guard was of little help, as far as they were concerned it was a terrible tragedy but with both assailants dead and no evidence of anyone else involved they considered the matter closed and no further investigation followed.
An inspection of the Broussard's post-mortem revealed that while the wounds they sustained were vicious, none were life threatening. Their cause of death was succumbing to a fast moving disease the nature of which I could not ascertain. Therefore, my conclusion was that the followers of the Dark God Morgion were behind the attack".
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
It could also be Daughter of Quenesti Pah, that a Black Robe or a renegade sorcerer could have used foul magics as well. This indeed is troubling. However, there is something I know about this case, which I am not at liberty to discuss at this moment. This information is indeed very helpful and yet also most sad
Eldren Vacaris |
"Quite possibly a wizard with a fancy cloak," Eldren says almost absentmindedly, at the same time taking the proferred "dropped" ingredient and putting it back into his spell component pouch. Talking with kender can be... disorienting. "May I ask where it was that you saw her? If she is alright? Our paths crossed briefly and I think she was on the same ship that brought me here, but then she just vanished." And he adds quickly, "Figuratively speaking."

Aristal shakes her head, "Black Robe or one of these alleged Brown Robes running about? I doubt it, the signature was too much like that of Morgion's followers, only they could handle such deadly plagues and live to tell. In addition, they struck with ritual knives and Wizards as we both now are not allowed to wield any weapons at all, I still have them locked away hoping for some magics that might become available to solve these crimes committed against two of my dear friends.
If you have information I implore you to share it, perhaps it is the missing piece I need to solve this..."

Eldren
"You say, you are welcome Revered Son, when someone, well you would only say that to me, or to another Revered Son but you would at least say thank you when someone finds something you so carelessly dropped!" his look is one that is dead serious.
His face brightens as he rattles off a dozen locations he and Rin traveled to together the day and evening before, "Oh and uh right over there". He points into the crowd heading south away from the Cathedral but Eldren quickly loses her topknot among the sea of humans so much taller than Rin!

Eddie & Theo
The Knight asks, "Who? I may be able to summon them for you or at least let them know you are looking but I cannot allow you in at this time"

Sorry missed that but yes let's say he stopped you to chat close enough to the other PCs that stick out in this city much less this crowd.
Caleb responds, "For your own safety. Oh I am sure you can all handle yourselves in a fight but justice for non-citizens, especially ones such as yourselves can be swift and unfair.
If I am with you, it's unlikely any fool will start trouble they can't quite handle, if you take my meaning".
