Gaurm nods to the Captain, "I will do so, Captain."
Once the Captain begins to leave, Gaurm turns to Trudy, "The temperature of the water is not your fault, thank you very much for your willingness to re-heat it."
Gaurm greets Haskin, "I am called Gaurm. What more can you say of these barbarians?"
Eddie Richter |
"I'm currently employed, though I imagine that will be coming to an end now that we've reached our destination, so sure, fella, I'll hear you out."

"Excellent", he responds to Brogg.
Haskin continues, "The Barbarians name is Proto Khan. I believe him to be from Dravinaar, what I cannot understand is why he has come so far or how he got here. The Captain and the Tarsian authority consider him a rogue element but I do not agree.
I would beseech the Queen for help but alas she is far and I am not the Captain of the Watch here.
I believe he is in league with the Pirate Gazum Fethas. That is to say, I don't think there is a coincidence that the two are causing trouble. IN fact, the pirate may explain the barbarian presence if you catch my meaning.
What confounds me is how the Barbarians are managing to stay one step ahead of me on the plains which I know better than he as I've grown up here my entire life. Perhaps with the help of your Wizards I can unravel his magic.
I'll need a ship of course to have any chance to get a hold of Fethas...
Clerics eh? You wish to speak with Clerics my.. odd new friends. I happen to know of one that you can meet with. Of course, my friends are more willing to help those who help me"

Hurudithya Griffontamer
With the rest of the day do you want to: (1) head to the Red Dragon to meet with Soze and those traveling with him? (2) Head to see the Priestess of Mishakal? or (3) Question the assassin?
Astinus the Chronicler |
8th Day of Autumn Twilight - 1030 PC - Tarsis the Beautiful - Mishakal's Church
As you make your way to the stairs Draven comes rushing after you, "Hurudithya, you are not going anywhere without an escort!"
You know that the Church is near the Northern Tarsian Gate. The walk through the crowd is normal though the traffic is heavy. These humans breed like rabbits!
Soon enough you come upon the Church, the sprawling steps are filled with the sick and the inform seeking treatment, the Clerics of the Church administer ministrations to those who seek it. The Church itself does not stand out much more so than any other building besides a single stained glass window and the symbol of the Goddess prominently displayed over the front door. Nary a statute can bee seen on the stairs that enter the front doors. Whoever is the Head of the Order here does not spend coin on ostentation.
Draven observes and comments, "It all seems so disorganized doesn't it? Its a wonder these humans get along with so many of them in such close proximity, and the smell..."
Reminder - Aristal Firesoul is the Revered Daughter you seek.
Red-Ohn Gathas |
Red looks at Haskin and raises an eyebrow. He does not like the way this man is mixing his words and not speaking plainly so Red asks out right...
"And what, exactly would you ask us do for you to get access to these clerics little man?" he snorts.
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
The Daughter of Mishakel simply nods at Draven's comment. Humans get along, I suppose, as well as elves do. Remember, they are creatures of Gilean and we were created by E'li
The priestess enters the temple and offers homage to the goddess. Looking for one of the acolytes she inquires Greetings, acolyte of the Healing Hand. I am Hurudithya Griffontamer of House Cleric, and a priestess of Quenesti Pah in Silvanesti. Might I inquire as to the location of the Hightpriestess, Aristal Firesoul and would you be so kind as to take me to her, if she is not too busy?
Eldren Vacaris |
"So, Theo," Eldren begins, eager to take advantage of the Black Robe's absence and get to know the gnome a little better, "do you mind if I ask how you chose to study magic? And without a Master no less."[/b]
Although the man's attention is indeed focused on his diminutive companion, his eyes do glance at times at the ogres and minotaur and bakali, his curiosity getting the better of him for a moment or two now and then.

Gaurm nods thoughtfully, "It seems to me that you will need to know more. How do you plan to gather the information you need?"
Theodore Samuel Walden ... |
Theo smiles as he stares at something ahead.
Well Eldren, I have always be a bit curious. A surprise, I know.
The orange-haired gnome chuckles.
I have an affinity for--creating--things. What better way than magic!

Haskin looks Red in the eyes, "Aid me in at least gathering information on these brigands of both land and sea. Defeating them would be worth coin but if you are in a rush to speak with the Clerics I will take all of the help I can get".
He turns to Gaurm, "Perhaps these two wizards sitting at yon table can help with that, magic can be useful if utilized properly. If not, then good old fashioned scouting work. I get the sense that a group of half-ogres, Bakali, and Minotaur will be bale to go places that I cannot and perhaps may even be accepted by men such as these. A loine human would just be assumed to be like minded. No offense meant to you but in a case of first impression, I can only assume that they will not believe any of you would wish to aid Tarsis after all, a city like Tarsis would see you all as outcasts, you've seen that first hand yourselves already".

Hurudithya Griffontamer
The young female Acolyte curtsies to you, "Is it a matter of great urgency, Acolyte Griffontamer? She is busy assisting with the opening ceremony for tomorrow, if you simply wish to meet with her she will be in attendance tomorrow..."
Eldren Vacaris |
When the gnome speaks of creation in relation to magic Eldren smiles, nodding in agreement. He has more questions for Theo -chief among them how he managed to actually study and put together a spellbook, seeing as how a gnome wizard is more or less a first- but it seems they would have to wait as the discussion of brigands of all sorts starts to include them as well.
"I do not mind helping out," he lends his own voice to the smaller mage's. "Theory is fine, but practice is also needed. And with it being for a good cause makes it even easier to agree to." Of course there is also the fact that the group of two half-ogres, a minotaur and a bakali is more than a little intriguin by itself.

Haskin nods to Red, "I have found crossing any mercenary to be an unwise decision...
Have you access to a ship? If not we shall have to begin our investigations by land.
And what of you, will you join your friends or stay here and drink your coin away instead of earning more?" He looks to Eddie.

Hurudithya Griffontamer
The Acolyte nods and heads into the Church. Soon enough she heads back to find you and Draven. She is frowning, "I fear the Revered Daughter can spare no time at the moment. No doubt tomorrow during the Conference you will meet and discuss what you wish to with her. I am so very sorry".
Draven shakes his head but it is not his place to speak and so he does not, "Where shall we head to now Hurudithya? The Inn or elsewhere?"
You can head to Winged Victory or to Red Dragon.
Eddie Richter |
"I'll be along, don't you worry" says Eddie as he finishes his drink and settles the tab. He returns the hat to his head and joins the rest of the group.
Zsar Kizar |
Zsar flicks his tongue out in a similar fashion to his companion. He turns to red and whispers. I've been thinking, perhaps we should ask these folk for help with the war? Surely they are skilled enough to help us...

Haskin smiles for the first time, "Excellent. I will return tomorrow when the weariness and dust of the road has been kicked off. Then we can decide on how to proceed".
Haskin takes his leave.
Trudy heads in and out a few more times and finally announces, "Baths ready!"
I take it the half-ogres retire to their Spa afternoon/early evening?

Huru, as you approach you see that much like the Dragons it is named after the Red Dragon Inn is quite large. The red tiles give it a distinctive gleam in the daylight. The sign is pristine and appears to have the ability to light up at night. The doors are large and covered in red scales, perhaps even from a true Red Dragon.
As you enter the Red Dragon Inn you see to your surprise a Minotaur, two and a Bakali whose face is fully exposed without his cowl up!
Seated with them eating and making idle chit chat are the human wizard Eldren, the gnome wizard Theo, and the sailor Eddie. Thankfully, the back robed wizard is no where in sight.
-------
Eddie, Theo, and Eldren, you see Huru the elven female Cleric of Mishakal enter the Red Dragon after teh ogres retire to their baths, with her on guard is a male elven warrior.
Red and Zsar, you obviously also see her but neither of you met her before so the event would be interesting in that an elf entered the Inn but not an elf you know.
-------
The group is almost all together! :-)
-------
Behind the Red Dragon Inn - Brogg & Gaurm
The two massive half-Ogres are finally able to step into their baths.
The back of the Inn is covered by a canopy giving some privacy and it seems this area could be an outside eatery if the Tavern within becomes overfilled. The back of the Inn has a few other buildings which also have their back area facing the back of the Inn.
There are a few paths which lead into and through the area. The nearby buildings are also fairly tall creating a great deal of shade back here.
"Yes my Master. The earlier incident was eh not the desired outcome".
"Fail me again and I will find another to accomplish this mission".
The second voice seems a bit distressed, "My mole has gotten very close to the target I believe that..."
The first voice, "I prefer that particular agent be utilized for other purposes..."
The voices it appears were trying to whisper but the echoes of the walls caught the troughs the right way amplifying their conversation. It now sounds as if they have moved on and were simply passing through this area.
Eldren Vacaris |
"Mercenary, yes, but the cause is worthwhile," Eldren adds his own take on the task ahead of them. "Barbarians and pirates and brigands, oh my...," he quips with a thin smile.
Gaurm |
Gaurm settles into the hot water with a sigh of pleasure. Letting the heat soak the tightness out of his muscles was a wonderful thing, as pleasant as it was to wash the road off of himself.
Perception DC 25: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23.
After a few minutes, he looks over at Brogg, "A hot bath is a nice change, eh?"
Red-Ohn Gathas |
Red ponders for a moment. "Hmm..you may be correct. Still, I feel better at arms length around them till they prove otherwise."
The Red looks up.
"Strange, a random elven female has arrived."
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
The Silvanesti smiles at the minotaur's comment. Surely, even among the children of Mithas and Kothas, the Healing Hand of Quenesti Pah is known she says showing her softly glowing symbol and her blue robes.

Behind the Red Dragon Inn - Brogg & Gaurm
This is as good a time as any to introduce Hero Points into the game. At this point all PCs have 2 Hero Points. They are similar to Action Points in Eberron except I have my own system that I use which I'll post tonight. If you expend a Hero Point Gaurm, you'll get an extra 1d6 to roll to try and succeed at that Perception challenge. Roll if you wish to do so...Otherwise.
Brogg & Gaurm soak in the tubs... er troughs for a good long while. Trish left out several towels for each of you to dry off whenever you are ready to come back into the Red Dragon.

A male elf accompanies the female elf into the Red Dragon. He walks over to the table where the Wizards are seated with the Minotaur and the Bakali speaking to each other in hushed tones.
"Unusual companions you have here Wizards, did you summon them from the farthest reaches of Krynn? I've never seen their ilk in person before.
The Revered Daughter is too polite by half Minotaur respect her and I shall respect you.
We are here to speak with you Wizards about the incident that you assisted with earlier today. Both to give thanks once more and to perhaps seek your aid with preventing further attacks. Now here I find you speaking of pirates and brigands, it may well be that these incidents are connected to those very same threats you speak of!"
Gaurm |
A hint of ... something ... catches Gaurm's attention and he cocks his head to listen, holding a hand up for quiet.
Hero Point! 1d6 ⇒ 5.
Perception TOTAL = 28. :)
Do I recognize either of the voices?
Also, am I aware of the assassination attempt?
Also, can I determine in which direction the voices were traveling?
Gaurm shakes his head in dismissal and sits up abruptly, his relaxed mood evaporating, "I am going to head back in, Brogg. I would like to hear more of what is happening inside. Holler if you need me."
Gaurm gets out of the trough, rinsing and toweling himself off before dressing. Rather than heading directly in through the back, he tries to identify where the voices were coming from and heads in that direction. If he cannot determine the direction, he will simply head back inside the inn.
Hurudithya Griffontamer |
The Silvanesti smiles I am familiar with the goddess of nature though more Silvanesti worship the Blue Phoenix, Chiselv's worshippers are allies to have.
