Bull Rush CMB: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Dwalindor has no idea what the crowd is trying but knows he needs to bang some heads together to get people out of his way.
Clear out you worthless lumps of camel dung!
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Tariq's eyes flash dangerously.
"I believe these bastards are trying to run us off the road! Is there something you can jam in their spokes to give them a little taste of their own medicine?! I am Tariq Ibn-Ziyad! One does not simply push me to the side!"
Tariq quipped as he guided his team on.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor draws Amanda with a grin.
"I will see what I can do. ."
not sure what is allowed as far as attacking their wheels...or if the bull rush was it.

Tariq, you're not sure what's going on but these riders don't seem to care about winning - just driving you to injury or death..
Bull Rush is the approved maneuver here. In theory you can attack but it's not recommended, what with the speeding chariot and me having to look up the chase rules. I'm not saying I won't do it, I just might be annoyed at having to do extra work. Or not, who knows?
The crowd cheers for the handsomest hunchback in Osirion as Noonan wows the crowd by roaring at the nearby chariot and his impressively off the cuff ditty that reminds them, curiously, of seabirds in flight.
Noonan and Shad run into a part of the course that seems like a quiet residential neighborhood while Dwalindor and Tariq smash the suddenly appearing chariot into a wall and stretch their lead as the chasing chariots have to ride around the wreck.
Noonan and Shad - Perception 10 and Reflex 15. Dwalindor and Tariq - Handle Animal or Profession (driver) 25 and Perception 20.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
@GM - ok - thanks bull rush was rolled already.
Dwalindor tries to keep an eye out for the next obstacle.
Nice driving there Tariq. You ain't half bad...I don't care what Shad says about you! the dwarf says with a grin.
Don't have a good feeling about this one...DC25? That is rough!
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Tariq watches the chariot strike the wall and gestures back with a closed fist.
"Ha! That is what you get!"
With his eyes glinting from the thrill he makes a mock bow to his stout passenger.
"I thank you for your praise, but I don't worry myself too much about what Shad says, he is a bit dark at times don't you think?", the desert warrior chuckled in a good mood.
"On a more serious note, I'm not sure what's going on but these riders don't seem to care about winning - just driving us to injury or death . . . Friends of yours?"
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 ahhhhhhhh nice roll, but not quite enough
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
They ain't friends of mine. Must be somebody Shad owes money!
The dwarf looks back to the other chariots.
Noonan? Shad? You guys coming or what?

DMummy |
Hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend - and in order to make your journey a little less laborious, you get one (1) free re-roll on a critical miss.
Tariq and Dwalindor struggle to handle the camel as it nears a sharp corner, trying desperately to avoid tipping over. They realize they can't make when they spot an alley just big enough for their chariot and they whip the camel through that alley.
Bursting through to the area near the corner they see two men on a rooftop wearing bronze masks - they unleash crossbow bolts at the chariot.
Tariq and Dwalindor - roll Reflex DC 25 to avoid the crossbow bolts and Fortitude DC 20 to save against the poisoned bolts.
Thorrpe and Noonan have burst through the cheering throng grinning, but turn around to see low-hanging laundry lines across the route. They duck just in time, swerving around a large carpet hung out after having the dirt beaten from it but as they do an irate housewife, seeing the disarray being made by less wary racers, dumps a chamberpot all over them.
As they move on, wiping their eyes, they come a series of steep steps and the camels start to balk - they'll need to hang on a spur the camels to get up the steps.
Roll Strength DC 15 and Acrobatics DC 20.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor ducks from the bolts
More punks playing dirty I see!

You have to reroll next round - failing to complete the challenge means you have to reroll to advance. This minigame is fun!
Technically you can't critically fail on a skill/save check but if you really want to use it here, I'm OK with it.
The camels balk at the stairs as Shad and Noonan'd urgent instructions - please make a Handle Animal or Profession (Driver) check, DC 15.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
The chariot hurtles down the alley flinging bedpan remnants and other refuse in the dust cloud that trails them.
"By the short hairs of Ra that was close! Ha ha whew! Did you see how close we were to flipping?!"
"Corner is coming up fast!"
Two men on a rooftop wearing bronze masks unleash crossbow bolts at the chariot.
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Tariq's reflexes honed from a life in the wilds and marketplaces of the desert realms allows him to twist out of the path of the murderous missiles.
"I think those were tipped with poison! Shad must owe someone serious money! Unless this is retribution for gaining access to the library."
"These peculiar masks though, masked societies, hummm."
Know nobility or local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 +2 vs humans.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor pulls out the bolt.
Yep, I think there was something dabbed on this point. I ain't feeling none too good.
Not sure what the effect is or if he can still act
DMummy |
In the minigame there's no effect from being poisoned, you just have to pass one of the rolls to make it to the next stage.
Noonan and Shad manage to keep the chariot on track, but they still need to get up the stairs. Reroll your Strength and Acrobatics rolls!
Tariq, you recognize the masks from stories told to you by Dwalindor, Noonan and Shad - they appear to belong to cultists of the Forgotten Pharaoh.
The crossbow bolts fall around you and you escape under an archway - into a crowded market filled with smells and sounds and smoke.
Roll Perception, DC 15, to see through the smoke and Intimidate, DC 20, to get the crowd out of the way.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor will peer through the smoke.

intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
LOL - close. He'd rage if gaining claws and fangs would grant a +2 circumstance on the intimidate! :-)
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Hold on my friend and stand tall. The Cultists of the Forgotten Pharaoh will not claim you today if Tariq can help it!"
The desert warrior glanced back at the dwarf and looked for a clear path to steer the chariot through.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
"Move yourselves or I will run you down."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15

Way to go Noonan!
Dwalindor, if you treat Tariq's roll as an aid you pass. Which I'm guessing he's cool with.
Tariq and Dwalindor burst through the smoke, easily outpacing the people behind them. The move towards a crowd that's gathered towards the end of the race and suddenly two more cultists appear with crossbows to firing bolts at the passing chariot.
You can outrun the bolts with a handle Animal or Profession (Driver) Check, DC 25 and fire back at them with a ranged attack at -8 to hit AC 18
Noonan and Shad manage to get the camel up the steps and run into a tight corner just as the camel gets back up to speed.
Handle Animal or Profession Driver DC 20 or Perception DC 20
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Doh! My wrong dwarf and I got pulled away to help kids with homework before I could fix it.
Dwalindor growls at the crowd again and then tries to push forward with Tariq.

Noonan and Shad manage to duck down an alley - the same alley that Dwalindor and Tariq barreled down before.
And like Dwalindor and Tariq they see snipers on the bridge who try to pepper them with crossbow bolts. Reflex, DC 25 or Fortitude DC 20
For Shad:
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Fortitude: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
So close!
Meanwhile, Tariq and Dwalindor barrel towards the finish line, seeing it in front of them. They have to figure out a way to burst through to the prize.

Dwalindor and Tariq careen through the finish line, laughing as they realize they come in first!
Shad and Dwalindor avoid the bolts enough to stay in control of their chariot and finish in the middle of the pack, just in time to see an embarrassed Dwalindor being showered with kisses by an amorous Muminofrah, who presses the camel into his hands.
Oh, Dwally! How thrilling to see you win! I just knew you would and I'm so happy.
She's practically dancing...it's strangely hypnotic.
And of course this magnificent animal and chariot and yours to keep as well! She beams at her magnanimous statement.
I'm so thrilled, I'm going to go above and beyond. I'll give you any one wish you want my dear Dwally.
Whereupon she gives Dwalindor a lascivious wink. to the cheers, catcalls and laughter from the crowd.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Energized by the win, the desert warrior leaps over the side of the chariot, kisses the camel, avoids it inevitable spit from the beast and spins in a dervish dance.
"Hazzah! Yes, my own---err---I mean our own chariot! Now we ride around town in style. Like Pharaohs! Yes!?. . ."
He stands with his hands up framing the beautifully crafted vessel. A wilting sobering look creeps across his face like the light of the rising sun across the dunes of the desert
"In an open topped conveyance . . . Perfect for being assassinated in by crossbow wielding cultists."
Tariq drops his arms to the side in a defeated looking motion.
"Goddess of life you are so unfair to me. Oh, for the love of dung beetles, what of these cultists? They will be a problem. Those were serious attempts my friends."
"Maybe it is better to go on the offensive than be on the defensive, but that is the problem with these secret societies, you don't know who they are."
A smile returns.
"Ah well, at least one of us will be safe in a freshly perfumed linen shrouded bed tonight."
