sorry been a SUPER busy time lately. I'm not vanishing
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Do you think they will bring us lunch? If not, they should think about adding the service you know. What about any books with pictures of weapons or towers or such?

yea i can definitely be botted for the next week or two while i get used to my new job. Ill try to hit a post daily
DMummy |
Hey, congrats on the new job!
After your first day of research you've found a few things to help your research.
Noonan, stopping his research into succubi for a second, finds a curator's catalog that shows the "Scrolls of Inquiry" were moved to another of the Inner Sanctum's libraries, the Dark Depository 103 years ago.
A small note is scribbled in the margin next to this note: "Find a new name for the Dark Depository, the librarian who came up with that name was clearly drunk and/or appointed to the position by an official trying to find a job for a useless relative."
Creperum's research reveals a dusty, otherwise unremarkable scroll which contains a lengthy passage about the burial of Hakotep I, with a passing reference to his tomb having wings. The scroll also contains a tantalizing fragment of the confession of a member of a group called the Sacrosanct Order of the Blue Feather, who claimed that when the Sky Pharaoh was interred, his heart and funerary mask were stolen from his tomb before it was lost to the skies. These two objects supposedly contained the pharaoh’s soul, but his body was left behind in the tomb. This confession was extracted in –1560 AR, some 50 years after the pharaoh’s death. There are also references to considerable efforts by Hakotep’s successor, Pharaoh Djederet II, to round up members of the Sacrosanct Order for questioning. The results of the interrogations were recorded on a collection of scrolls called the Scrolls of Inquiry, but this collection is not held within the Spiral Archive.
Roll Knowledge (Local) or Knowledge (Religion) please.
He also finds a large collection of tablets bound in cloth marked with the Sky Pharaoh's winged pyramid hieroglyph contains a number of transcribed recollections of several courtiers at Hakotep's court. These accounts make passing references to the Sky Pharaoh having access to stolen Shory magic.
Roll Knowledge (History) or Knowledge (Arcana).
You realize after your research that the day is almost up and you'll need to report to Muminofrah soon - and maybe leave before your permission is up in case there really is something in the library that will be after you.

Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Hey, I am getting bored here. Are you three almost done? We should get back before fancy-pants comes looking for us.
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Maybe you should look for a text on foot massages or hot stone massages for your girlfriend instead of bothering us. Shad says with a huge grin.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
The dwarf snorts a reply, obviously lacking the meaning of the word in his barbarian vocabulary.
Yeah right, Shad. Why would she need messages on her foot? I bet she has not seen them in years! How could she even read them?
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |

"Some fascinating reading, but if we have learned what we can I think we should leave well before our sands of time run out."

Knowledge: Religion -
The Sacrosanct Order of the Blue Feather is a secretive sect of the priesthood of Nethys dedicated to the collection and preservation of knowledge in all its forms, but with a special focus on arcane knowledge. The order is not necessarily concerned with keeping such information hidden, but secrecy is a useful tool for safeguarding it. The order’s members are also unconstrained by such mortal concerns as morality—the acquisition and preservation of the information is paramount, not the methods used to do so.
Knowledge: Arcana -
The Shory were an ancient people who traveled the world in great flying cities during the Age of Destiny and created the Shory Empire. Their flying cities and many other wonders were accomplished through the use of a form of long-forgotten magic known as Aeromantic Infadibulum.
Ready to go back?
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Flying cities. Wow, then I guess a flying pyramid would be a simple thing. Did you see what sort of tomb this sky Pharaoh had?"
Tariq is ready to move on.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
"I only remember the cowardly sky wizard flying around...not his pyramid. But maybe he did not turn it on. Only one way to find out we have to go find it or another like it."
ready .
Thorrpe's Shadow |
You kidding? Dwalindor will practically be bard by the time we are done here!
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Yeah, barred is right!
DMummy |
You arrive early to report in to Muminofrah and get more information to find the normally reclining noblewoman is happily talking to several slaves, hangers-on and noblewomen.
A huge number of ugly, local camels being harnessed to chariots and she positively beams when she sees her Dwally and his entourage approach.
Dwallllly! How wonderful to see you here so early. I have a tremendous surprise for you.
She waves her fan playfully at you.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
"A surprise? For me? But you really should not have. You have been entirely too generous already." the dwarf says with his best formal bow...which seems to grind against his character.
DMummy |
Ohohohoho!
She swats you with her ostrich feather fan.
I've decided to liven up this stuffy town by holding a chariot race! The good news is the haty-a agreed to close down the whole city so the residents can enjoy! And I'm going to let you all participate!
She waves her hands at the chariots.
Of course you each get the choice of driving your own chariot or two of you can team up in a chariot.
The first to cross gets a special prize. As she says this she leers and winks at Dwalindor.
The best part is this race is the grand tradition of Sothis races - there aren't any rules!
Now she begins to laugh hysterically, her whole body shaking and wobbling with laughter.
This challenge is a series of skill checks, take note that you should distinguish yourself by describing your actions when you make the checks - if you do I'll give you a special prize for best actions. And mind aren't necessarily disgusting (PM me if you're into that).
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
"Never been fond of riding contraptions when a sturdy pair of boots works just as well. But if you think you'd rather not, Noonan, I can take a ride with Tariq here ."
Thorrpe's Shadow |
I could give it a try I suppose
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Ohhhhh boy. Well, what could happen right?! A chariot race with no rules. Let's get on with winning then shall we?"
"And not dying."
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
I heard that!
Dwalindor checks his gear and looks around for other competitors.
When do we start?
Thorrpe's Shadow |
I am ready, who wants to drive? I have some delightful surprises to send at our competition
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor's handle animal is only +2, so anyone with a positive charisma should be able to beat that. Unless chariot is considered "ride"
If it comes to smashin' other chariots, I can see if Amanda or Lucy can help us out a bit. Dwalindor says with a broad grin.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"I usually get along better with camels, but I can give horses a shot." Tariq grins.
DMummy |
It's actually a hilarious mishmash of skill checks. You're gonna love it. One more side note: there are "steps" in the race, if you pass two checks at the same time you move forward three steps, which will help you win.
As you pile into your chariots, more or less eagerly, Muminofrah stands high on a dais hastily erected for the event. In her hands is a gold camel statuette encrusted with jewels - it's hideously ugly even taking into account its lifelike depiction of a camel.
To the winners of the race goes the spoils! And of course, the winner will get to keep their camel and chariot!
She smiles at her beneficence.
You all are packed into the street and you realize you'll have to come to a strong start early on.
Make one of two checks to pass the first step: Handle Animal or Profession (driver) DC 10, and Intimidate DC 15.
Noonan3 |
Noonan casts Tap Inner Beauty(+2 Charisma Checks and Charisma skill checks, 7 minutes) and Enhanced Diplomacy(+2 to a single Diplomacy/Intimidate check)

I was going to have Dwalindor assist Noonan - but if we are in our own cart...he will try himself I guess
handle animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Dwalindor growls at the camels to get moving, which they ignore him completely. However he scares the sheep out of them when he starts cursing in dwarven.
All right you #&^#&! camels! Move it or I will tear off your heads and #(*(#*)&)@@ you to the #*(!))P# Sphinx!
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Tariq and Dwalindor are in one and Noonan and Thorpe's Shadow are in another I believe.
"Look you can intimidate the other team, but leave the driving to me if you would."
Tariq picks up the reins.
"<<<whistle>>> Heyaaaaaah!!! <<<reins snap>>>"
Handle animal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Noonan and Shad burst out with pack, fighting for space while Dwalindor's hearty Dwarven roar and Tariq's brilliant handling shoot them out way in front of the pack.
Noonan, Shad and company move through the crowded streets and the huge group of chariots careen towards a group of spectators who start cheering and jeering the competitors.
Noonan and Shad - make an Intimidate DC 20 and a Perform (any) DC 15Check.
Tariq and Dwalindor meanwhile have shot through a gap and round a corner, easily maneuvering through the crowd.
Just as they start to head through a square another chariot bursts out of a side street and heads straight for them.
The chariot crashes into your own chariot. The cultists whip their camels and try to run you off the road.
Make a Sense Motive check DC 20 and a Bull Rush check CMD 20
