Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Yeah, or Lady Frankincense if they have that. I'll chip in as well, but my pockets ain't quite as deep as Noonan's.
Dwalindor starts to count his balance of coin in his head. Fortunately, his income is not high or smoke may start to come from his ears with the effort.
Ibrahim the Grey |
Frankincenssse is indeed a good...choice. The oil isss more...intimate however there isss a risssk of being...asssked to apply it.
Ibrahim chuckles.
I recommend a...sssilver frankincenssse. It is quite...cossstly but ssstill the best you buy. A sssmall container to...keep it in wouldn't be a terrible idea either. Perhapsss...bronze? Gold is a bit too...extravagant but bronze is highly prized asss a traditional metal. I jussst ssso happen to have ssseveral...itemsss that might ssserve.

Sounds good to me, Ib
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Holy cow, I can't believe I am going to say this. . . Maybe I can try wearing a bit of it and gifting it to her, but if she isn't buying off on that, we have to try having Dwalindor make an apology."
"Maybe just have the dwarf make the gift then offer to display some feats of strength or something."
Tariq purses his lips.
"Lemme think, what else, what else."

Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Aye. Or stronger.
The dwarf hopes Tariq knows something else of customs that will help.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Wait! You mean frankincense only comes in an incense stick and not an oil? . . . There is a certain merchant in Agrabah I would like to discuss that with then, but hey, I'm all tor the sticks if it means I can avoid her pleasure chamber."
Tariq strokes his beard. Did his roll dig up any knowledge?
"Okay, I am just suggesting this, but what if we went back. I make the point I wished to return to make ammends with Mumminopfrah for the slight. I point out that she directed me to be your host and I accept responsibility for your actions. I will need a public apology from the dwarf for his abruptness. Then he must elaborate that he owes this friend of yours a life debt so he was focused on repaying it he wasn't aware he had been perceived as being insulting. You are sorry that a misunderstanding between two cultures resulted and I made you aware of this."
"I say some nice words."
"Noonan offers the incense, makes some comparisons of her greatness to the sun."
"Maybe the dwarf does some entertaining physical feats, or hits some watermelons with his big hammer, I don't know something? Like, um, maybe axe throwing---do you do that?"
Tariq holds his hands out to the group while raising his shoulders.
"Help me flesh this one out guys."
Thorrpe's Shadow |
This is good. Not totally sure what I can do to assist but I am all in!
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Well Shad, do you have any tricks you can perform to amuse her?"
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
The dwarf huffs.
Fine! Give me that incense or oil or whatever it is. Let's go see that she-camel. If you suggestions of flowery words of flattery that I can say without choking, I am all ears.
Noonan3 |
How about..
I love the way you press your cheek against my forehead
give me little eskimo nose kisses
pinch me and call them pixie bites
playfully make fun of me
talk about growing up and the future
make plans to visit me for holidays
become my favorite most cuddly pillow
say hey girl, with that look in your eyes
Just google sappy poems
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Uh, yeah. Right Noonan. I will save that one for the closer.
Tariq, please tell me you've got something better.
Thorrpe's Shadow |
I could send some fireballs in the air to simulate the fireworks when he looks into her eyes?
Thorrpe's Shadow |
if dwalindor is, let us know how much we owe irbrahim and we are good
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor is ready. He even combs his beard.
Will retroactively apply anything Tariq offers into his performance.
Let's Rock!'
DMummy |
Ibrahim graciously charges you 500 gp for the frankincense and elaborate bronze thurible (with chain!) to carry it in. He even thanks you for your custom.
As you approach the Palace again the guards recognize you and smirk.
Halt! Why do you approach the Palace of the beautiful and generous Muminofrah?
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor is happy to let one of the social types speak to this messenger. He is saving his voice for the madam.
stranded in airport - will post later tonight - hopefully .
Noonan3 |
These humble petitioners have come to offer ur most sincere and profuse apologies to Her Excellence. We bear a delightful gift of frankincense to offer as a token of appreciation and after a proper instruction on manners, shall conduct ourselves as required.

When we were here earlier, it was obvious we did not have the proper gifts to present to the lady of such stature. We have remedied the situation and are back to pay respects. Lead on...
Thorrpe's Shadow |
No. Just an assist on diplo and was being funny
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
As Shad begins to cast, Tariq tries to stop him and calm the guards as well.
"Shad, we should wait until we are given word that her Ecellency is prepared to witness your display. Please refrain from starting it prematurely. This is a Royal Barge, not some street corner where you must attract a crowd. Keep in mind there is only one observer who matters for this engagement."
He gestures to the guards and then to his companions.
"Yes, my friends and I have procured an appropriate gift for her Excellency and some other urgent matters that only concern her at the moment, so if you good fellows could do what you can to ensure no unnecessary delays that would be most welcome."
Tariq smiles.

Dwalindor nods in approval at Tariq's request and makes the "lead us onward, servants" motion to the guards.
DMummy |
Thank goodness.
The guards seem impressed by your display and grant you access into the palace.
Muminofrah is lounging near a fountain as you are announced and walk in, still fanned and eating grapes by the handful.
Oh my, you're back. I must say I'm a bit surprised to see you.
She's notably cool to you enter.
Noonan3 |
Indeed we could not stay away from your presence. After reflecting on our earlier faux paus, we spent time learning the proper way to show appreciation to a lady of your station and bring a humble gift of frankincense as a token of our regret and hope we can once again benefit from your many gifts. Noonan presents the frankincense and thurible.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
"We knew you were accustomed to gifts and in our haste we came empty handed. Accept these as tokens of our appreciations"
The dwarf bows and stand with a grin.

"Your stunningness should be sung and I have brought a troubadour with a ballad to your beauty ." he indicates Tariq
DMummy |
Muminofrah appears delighted and pats the sliver of cushion near her that is unoccupied in clear invitation to Dwalindor.
I'm so glad you came back. Dwally, I must say I was quite upset at your behavior but come, show me this gift while your troubadour regales us.
She bats her eyelashes coyly at the dwarven barbarian.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
With a bow, the dwarf once again takes his seat next to the woman, with as pleasant of a smile as he can muster.
It is my lucky privilege, thank you, your grace.

"Oh Desert Noble of the floating Palace in the reeds, here the praises sung to thee after translation from the dwarven tongue. Ahem . . ."
The desert warrior begins to intone an ode to her excellency.
"Her dark brown eyes,
are deep and dark,
Like the eddies on the river in spring.
Her tanned brown skin,
the hue of copper toned dunes,
beautiful from top to toe,
Her power is magic,
A force unstoppable like the March of the Singing Sands."
"Fantasy covers her in an aura,
as she walks on the stretches of the rivers bank
her dark silk hair engulfs the beauty,
that reflects off the water."
"Mystery surrounds her,
like the dark clouds of desert storms,
there is power beneath her skin.
For her beating heart may choose to be an oasis for those in search of relief,
Or may be stilled at a whim of her own."
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
That last line should read to mean she can be like an oasis or she can choose to still the hearts of those who come to her. Just making sure it wasn't taken to mean a threat. Poems are not my thing, I was trying to come up with something new and artistic.
DMummy |
You're setting fire to 500 gp worth of frankincense? That's a lot of frankincense - giving it to her unlit to use at various ceremonies would be expected.
Muminofrah blinks at Tariq's unexpected tribute.
Oh Dwally, how wonderful a tribute.
She lets her hand...well drape isn't the right word for it since it's pretty large to do anything that ephemeral, but drop onto Dwalindor's thigh.
It's so nice that you've come back. Now, I know we'll get along just famously, what was it that caused you to come to my barge yesterday?
She's clearly expecting some more praise at the moment but she's more amenable to being asked for a favor.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
The dwarf pauses before clearing his throat to speak
"Your emminence. We came to your palace having heard of your vast collection of knowledge and considerable resources and not to mention your generosity for a good cause...we came to ask for assistance with a certain masked sky Mage we encountered and has somehow ensourcled our friend ."
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Yes, not as fascinating as you and your impressive court, by far of course. No comparison really. You are a desert blossom and he was a choking weed. Anyway, would your grace be willing to help recover our poor, hapless friend and rid the curse of the mask of this sky mage or whatever he was? You reputation is unparalleled, and I would think someone as lovely as you would want to squash the sources evil in the world...especially those who may someday oppose you with armies of undead. Noonan and Tariq, would you not agree?
Dwalindor grins as best he can, trying not to choke.
Noonan3 |
Indeed, this Sky Pharaoh had his fingers in the most distressing rising of the undead in Wati and enspelled one of our comrades. Such villainy needs to suffer the wrathful but lovely hand of yourself with us as your bejeweled fingers of justice. Perhaps we could present him to you to be judged by your wisdom.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Yes, and furthermore your eminence if you can assist this band with recovering their friend, Dawlindor will be free to focus more of his attentions towards you. Dwarven loyalty runs very very deep and with his friend in such peril he can't help be be distracted."
Tariq gently gestures towards Noonan.
"This learned man believes Dwalindor's companion can be rescued, but in order to do this he needs your assistance."
"Could you grant them access to the archives?"
