DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
The moment Harry disappointedly turns away from the door a massive figure turns up at the end of the corridor. One side of his face is surprisingly handsome while the other is a nightmarish canyon of scars and tumorous flesh.
More rangers to play with!
he says with an even more confusingly melodic voice and strides towards you.
Ailetha Aurcalam |
Ailetha looks at the approaching ogre.
Oh no, not another mean ogre. Please don't hurt me Mr. Ogre.
Ailetha turns on the pity sound, which actually is a disguised version of starting Inspire Courage using Oratory.
Begin Inspire Courage will be Ailetha's first round action.
DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
Harry's Initiative1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Alana's Initiative1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Celestra's Initiative1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Karlan's Initiative1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Ailetha's Initiative1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Marek’s Initiative1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Silas Kreeg's Initiative1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Swiftly, the ogre readies his weapons and shouts
Brothers! We must have missed some!
Celestra Zomesco |
Round 1
Celestra casts bless upon the party. (50 foot burst around Celestra)
"Cayden Cailean, give us the strength and bravery to strike down these hulking destroyers of freedom and fine ale! Let us remember your fine beer when we bash their skulls in and liberate all whom they harm and oppress"
"Harry, they are all yours for the crushing!"
Marek Ironblood |
Marek's cold steel eyes burn with undisguised hatred. It takes all his willpower to hold onto his sword and wait for the others to move. When the conditions are met, he springs to movement.
Move action: Move down the corridor. Standard action: cast bladed dash, finishing its movement behind the ogre.
Bladed dash attack roll*:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26
Bladed dash damage roll: 1d6 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
*includes Power Attack -2/+4, +4 from the spell, +1 from greater magic weapon cast before, +1 from Celestra's bless and +2 from Ailetha's inspire courage.
Marek Ironblood |
I also don't know for sure. Here goes the relevant text so Zyren can judge:
When you cast this spell, you immediately move up to 30 feet in a straight line any direction, momentarily leaving a multi-hued cascade of images behind you. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. You may make a single melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against any one creature you are adjacent to at any point along this 30 feet. You gain a circumstance bonus on your attack roll equal to your Intelligence or Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. You must end the bonus movement granted by this spell in an unoccupied square. If no such space is available along the trajectory, the spell fails. Despite the name, the spell works with any melee weapon.
If it isn't possible, position Marek at any point adjacent to the ogre. Karlan or Harry: Stay near and delay. Next round Marek will full attack and 5-ft. step away from the ogre. At that point you might 5-ft step in and full attack it.
Marek Ironblood |
Also, if Zyren wouldn't mind, Marek would have used his swift action from the previous round to spend one arcana point and add the shock and keen abilities to his weapon, adding 1d6 ⇒ 3 electricity damage to the attack.
Marek Ironblood |
I'd think that since Marek is the last to act, at that point one of Karlan and Harry would've already triggered the attack.
DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
Hopefully I got everything right now, please double check the map and tell me whether everything is correct
When Marek rushes past the ogre, cutting a nice wound over his belly, Silas Kreeg, the artist of the Kreegs, swings and tries to take Marek's head off with one swing
Silas Kreeg / Ogre Hook 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Damage2d8 + 15 ⇒ (5, 1) + 15 = 21
RD2:
Silas Kreeg
Karlan
Alana
Celestra
Ailetha
Harry
Marek
Karlan Bladetwist |
Stepping forward Karlan lunges forward aiming for the vital arteries in the ogres groin and hips with the blade of his Glaive. Slicing up and down to mortally wound the despicable creature.
5ft. Shift. Lunge and Power Attack
Attack
1d20 + 13 + 4 + 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 4 + 2 + 1 - 3 = 18 Attack

1d10 + 7 + 8 + 2 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 8 + 2 + 9 = 29 Damage
Marek Ironblood |
I'm gonna wait until people have acted to post Marek's actions. There should be a fair chance that the ogre is dead before his next turn.
Ailetha Aurcalam |
I will delay until after Harry and Marek. If the ogre is still up, I will cast Glitterdust to blind it.
I will also end the Inspire Courage as a Free Action. The effect will continue for another 2 rounds with Lingering Performance.
Alana Wayworth |
Alana will move forward to just behind and to the side of Ailetha. She'll hold any other action at this point, as it seems likely the Ogre isn't going to make it through these attacks and she doesn't have a clear line of sight on him anyway. At least that I can tell from the current map.
Celestra Zomesco |
Round 2
"In the name of Cayden Cailean, Marek, stay out of that ogre's way! I will help heal you if I can get in there!"
Celestra steps forward (move 30 feet closer), draws out her crossbow, and loads it with a bolt.
Heavy Harry |
AC 24
Harry moves in defensively fighting.
Attack 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 14
Damage 1d12 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 2 = 15
Never mind - at least he gets there...
DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
You will make a nice work of art - will arrange you in the form of a triangle, hah!
Silas catapults into Marek, aiming to maim the Magus to jelly, then spins around to greet Karlan
Silas Kreeg - Marek / Ogre Hook 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Damage2d8 + 15 ⇒ (7, 4) + 15 = 26
Silas Kreeg - Karlan/ Ogre Hook 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Damage2d8 + 15 ⇒ (3, 3) + 15 = 21
a terrible attack...taking Marek nearly out.
Karlan Bladetwist |
Taking the earth shattering blow in stride Karlan spits and lunges forward
Did he 5ft. shift up? I was 15ft. away using Lunge and I think Harry was in his way to do that.
"Send our regards to your mother disgusting creature!"
swift: lay on hands
Full attack
lay on hands 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 6) = 14

Heavy Harry |
Harry starts chopping away...
Attack 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage 1d12 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage 1d12 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Marek Ironblood |
Feeling the metallic taste of blood in his mouth, Marek assumes a narrow stance, his left side facing away from the ogre. His free hand frantically makes the precise gestures of the complex spell that might keep him alive. Tendrils of red mist flock to his blade, drawing the blood from the gash just opened on the giant back to the magus.
Worry not for my sake, miss Zomesco, but pray for this wretch's black soul.
Full-Round Action: Spell Combat
Cast defensively the spell vampiric touch (DC 21): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Spell Combat attack roll (using Power Attack -2/+4)*: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34 (Critical Threat!)

DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
Oh, right, then the ogre's last attack hit Harry...sorry man ;)
Silas goes down before Marek is able to drain vitae from him - Harry's and Karlan's attacks were already enough for the "handsome" ogre.
And even though the fight was quite loud and Silas called for help, the fort is in silence again, only your pumping breath is audible.
Heavy Harry |
"That's the way, now lets keep pushing on and get them down as afst as possible. Hate this fort already"
That sucks :p HP 63/84
"A heal if you have one please Miss Zomesco, think this shot was otherwise destined for you Sir Karlan." Harry asides as they walk.
Celestra Zomesco |
""A heal if you have one please Miss Zomesco,. . . "
"That would no problem, Handsome. If you keep attacking, I'll keep healing you up!"
Celestra casts Cure Moderate Wounds upon Harry.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17
Marek Ironblood |
Marek is currently with 47 damage of his 54 hit points.
Marek wipes the blood off his blade on the giant's crude clothes.
I do not mean to strain your resources, miss Zomesco, but I would appreciate a simple healing spell. I have a spell that may mitigate some of the damage, but it won't suffice.
He sheathes his weapon, searches for a specific small vial on his component pouch. He smears his fingertip on its contents and spreads what seems to be blood near his wound while chanting a few arcane words.
Marek will cast infernal healing on himself, gaining fast healing 1 for one minute - healing 10 HP total.
Celestra Zomesco |
"I do not mean to strain your resources, miss Zomesco, but I would appreciate a simple healing spell. I have a spell that may mitigate some of the damage, but it won't suffice."
"It is not a problem, Marek. Gather near and I will envelop you in the healing, intoxicating energy of my dear Cayden Cailean."
Channel Energy: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 6) = 10
"How does that feel?"
That should bring Harry up to full as well.
DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes |
All three remaining rooms on the west side of the corridor are empty and besides the broken furniture pretty much look the same. Most probably guest quarters of some kind.
Now the double doors to the east lie before you...Harry pushes them open and...you are greeted by a ramshackle area of smshed tables, broken crockery and rubble. No living stirs here.
Marek Ironblood |
Marek is currently with only 13 damage.
Immensely better. Thank you miss Zomesco. I will be sure to make a donation to any Cayden temple or sanctuary of your choice.
