Dr. Victor Alden |
Hey everyone. My internet access has taken a nosedive and may be sporadic for the next few days. Just fyi if my posting is intermittent. Thanks for understanding.
Sanity Check 1d100 ⇒ 40
Whatever they are...if they bleed we can kill them...and if they are the ones that took that sweet woman...well then they deserve what I am going to give them. Victor has a focused, intense look to him. He calmly checks to make sure a round is chambered before taking a firing position behind the stone.
Dm Zyren / Heart of Madness |
As Murphy throws the stone, Cummings laughs like a madman
Yeah f.uck off you monsters! Then he jumps down the slope, falls, gets back on his hands and feet, crawls forward and vanishes in the black firs, all the while laughing hysterically.
Mr. Cummings, wait! The eyes of the Professor widen as his gaze follows the maniacal Cummings.
Dm Zyren / Heart of Madness |
As you break through the first firs, you nearly crash into Cummings who stands about fifteen feet away from one of those strange monsters, but there are more of them behind it... Now that you are closer, they remind you of a strange caricature of a deformed and monstrous Pan. Goatlike legs, a human torso and an ugly, distorted face. The monster has two claw-like hands and gibbers evily as you approach.
Reggie Fenwick |
"Sorry have to run."
Appearent Reggie gets flipp when he's terrified. Good to know.
Step I: Reggie grabs Cummings by the left wrist and draws him back and to the right. This keeps Cumminds between Reggie and the thing as well as forcing Cummings to turn breaking his line of sight on the thing as well.
Step II: Run for the standing stones.
Step III: Profit! Or get eaten, it's a coin-toss really.

At the sight of the goat men, Charlie freezes. His face is pale, his mouth is wordless. He tries to stammer something, but no noise is made. He simply looks to his companions and then to the goat men, scooting closer to the nearest person with a gun and then shivers with fear as he awaits what he assumes to inevitably be a horrible, gruesome death.
Charlie Poolsworth |
Charlie moves away from the edge of the hill, behind his better-armed companions. "Just shoot one, Jesus!" he cries, having obviously gone over the edge of hysteria.
What's behind us on the map? At this point, Charlie would rather take his chances running than trying to punch one of those goat things.
Dm Zyren / Heart of Madness |
Cummings curses as you drag him away and kicks some stones over to the goatmen who follow you, but as soon as you have made it out of the firs again, they stop and wait in the relative darkness of the forest.
They don't like sunlight!
Shouts the Professor and grabs Charlie's arm as he turns for the other side of the hill.
Don't, there are more of them...
And indeed, the professor is right. The hill is surrounded by these strange creatures, who lurk in the forest and don't dare to enter bright sunlight...at least for now. All in all there are at least 30 of them...waiting...gibbering...
Reggie Fenwick |
I think the need for caution died with my aunt. From the way they walk it looks like we might have a speed advantage. Might. As soon as we move they will be after us and will try to head us off. We will get one chance gentelmen. Time to run.
Luckily Reggie left his pack at the farmhouse-of-horrors so he is travelling light at the moment.
Dm Zyren / Heart of Madness |
Everyone is pretty fast except Reggie who stumbles and can only hardly keep up with the rest.
With loud gibbering, the goatmen pursue you into the forest, you have a head start of about 40m but this can melt quickly if you don't keep up the speed.
Another round of acrobatics checks.
Cummings shouts Come on, come on now! We can make it!
Dr. Victor Alden |
Dr. Victor Alden, seeing his new friend in danger, snarls and spins towards the oncoming goat men. Take him I'll cover you! he says before squeezing off a round at the closest goat man, hoping to keep them from coming any closer. Shot at lead goat man, if within 30' add 1 to hit and damage. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 222d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13
Dm Zyren / Heart of Madness |
The shot thunders through the forest and for a short moment everything is quiet, even the demonic gibbering stops as the bullet sinks between the eyes of one of the goatmen. The others stop dead in their tracks and looks at their sibling who doubles over and without a sound falls to the ground.
Run on?
James Chilcott |
Sorry for the delay chaps! Got waylaid by a pesky bout of unconciousness.
Acrobatics from that last round of running 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Oops, might have to start shooting Goatmen.
A tree branch appears out of nowhere and tangles in James' shirt, yanking him off his feet and causing him to waste precious time untangling himself. Glancing behind him he blanches at how close the gibbering monstrosities are and hurries to catch up with his companions.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
If needed: Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
"Rhatz"
At least Daniel isn't crashing to the ground again, I guess being on a years long toot left a bigger mark then just the occasional trembling. Seems like he is stumbling around as if he were still a rummy.
