As Ragnvald finishes his warsong he seems...refreshed, energized. He laughs as he stares down at the broken ghouls body and turns to the others and makes an all encompassing gesture on the room. "Behold! Due process! A prosecutor who has never lost a case convinces a judge to take a hired goon to sway an already tipped jury in his favor after murdering the victims wife and children! A ghost that seeks vengeance on the weak willed and hypocritical! Surrounded by death! By lies!" He laughs some more. "The only truth here, the only justice, is at the edge of the blade! At the clashing of blade on claw! HA! And I was beginning to think I would never understand this place! Come let us take the head of this child murderer and satiate this creatures bloodthirst."

Sir Rekkart: The paladin again ignores all the the rant aimed at him and proclaims We have honoured Iomedae in destroying this ghoulish apparition and are again bathed in her evershining light of...uargh

before he is able to finish his speech, he suddenly tumbles back, right into the spiked chair that leans against the wall. As if by magic the clasps around his wrists close and he is pressed into the screws, spikes and scalpels that are mounted to the seating.

Perception DC 18:

You spot a translucent small boy that is running out of the room, maybe he has pushed the unlucky paladin into the chair.

Attalas looks aghast at the Paladin flying into the contraption

"It weren't me!...but you wanted me to kill him, didn't you Patrissa?"

Attalas looks like the other shoe has finally dropped, and he steps his distance back to stay out of reach.

"You knew Rekky wanted in your pants, and you was going to make him jealous so he'd fight me and die. We all now know he was booby touchy man, and you know he wanted to booby touch you, or maybe even booby touchy you again...why you want him killed for?"

Patrissa looks genuinely shocked - while Rekkart is yelping in pain in the back.

She scurries over to Attalas and takes his large hand into hers and says

Oh Attalas, how could you ever think my feelings for you weren't sincere? I'm all yours!

Attalas:

Will Save DC 17, otherwise you're charmed. Try to act like a nice ogre in love, will you? :)

"I thought you was being real, and then saw how shiny man was looking at you and heard his nasty comments and felt sad because what he says is true, I am a monster and you are not, and monsters don't get to be happy! Then I knew Rekkart and you must have had a thing going, and so I thought you must still have a thing going, but then now I know its not true and that you are being true! Rekkart will never allow it though, you know that."

"Patrissa dear I love you so
and to the broom closet we will go
Just say yes, and don't say maybe
I'm gonna give you a half ogre baby!"

"But first I am gonna make sure Rekkart can't be jealous anymore...then I be right back and we make sweet sweet loving."

He takes his sword and advances on the trapped Paladin, ready to ram the sword through the trapped man and the box containing him.

This must be the X-rated version of Beauty and the Beast, I swear^^

...as there was no protest over his actions, the 'Lovestruck Ogre' rams four feet of steel through Rekkarts trapped form.

Sense Motive 1 - It is clear the Ogre is set on a brutal course of action, clearly due to perceived self preservation issues, the set of his eyes and face make it clear anyone looking to intervene would probably be seen as 'the enemy' in conspiracy against him. His dark eyes hold a regard of deep suspicion.

Seeing it as her only option, she grabs Patrissa and steps in front of the ogre, frowning at him with fire in her eyes. She holds Patrissa by the hair from behind, her fist poised a short distance from her throat. As you watch, sharp claws of bone slowly slice through the skin between her knuckles and approach Patrissa's bare throat.

Just wondering what the saving throw situation would be. Charm Person does not allow one to control a person. It only makes the person Friendly. I do not think that this would incline the charmed subject to willingly attack their own ally, especially when that ally is holding the charmer around the throat and any attack on the ally would gravely endanger the charmer.

This level of infatuation seems much more like a higher level compulsion spell of some sort. Just my 2 cents.

It's a composite of the Ogre being convinced that Rekkart is pretty much out to get him, and that it's becoming a case of who gets the shot in first. Patrissa put her cards on the table (and then some) with a Charm, and so Attalas was now convinced that Rekkart was truly the problem... especially given his earlier dialogue and his 'absence' in fighting the Ghoul and then choice not to provide healing afterwards.

Grabbing Patrissa at knifepoint was probably the worst possible move as Nymeria has already used Intimidation against Attalas and bullied him about, and has drawn weapons now on his nearest and dearest ally in defence of Rekkart... it's not compulsion, its a twisted love story with a clear villain (Rekkart) and a Charmed Ogre... I have been pointing out for quite a few posts now over several days of what was unfolding...!

I think he'd almost have been willing to listen, but by the time you implore reason there's already the problem that Nymeria (who was already considered 'unfriendly', not 'Ally' after using Initimdate) has taken an innocent person (his lady love) hostage at knifepoint. I would try to grapple you, but at 3 hp, that seems like a bad idea. By the way, Sir Rekkart actually did heal me twice - just so that Attalas knows, it is possible that is all Rekkart has.

So he's seen Rekkart healing other people yet Rekkart did nothing when the rock fell on Attalas' head at the beginning, and did nothing when the Ghoulmummyundead thing attacked him as well. I reckon that makes the evidence of consipracy all the more damning! Similarly, Grappling would probably be an un-sound idea really :( What should probably have been done is Patrissa getting pulled aside earlier and being cautioned... Hehe...good idea? No. Not in the slightest. But that's Nymeria. She's not actually intending to hurt anybody, she is actually trying to preserve life...but that must have gotten lost somewhere in the translation... Oh, and I also tried to save you from that rock in the first place, but rock beat scissors.

So I have a few options here. This is another reason why I regret some of the shoices made by other people (What no one rolled spellcraft to see he was charmed? I have an excuse. I'm untrained.)

Option one is to drop Attalas where he stands. That's well within Ragnvald's capability. And I actually have a 25 intiative as I forgot the part where I took improved initiative. So I've got everyone pretty much crushed in that regard. But I only get one shot at it. Maybe two if he decides to go after Nymeria first. I blow one spell to heal him after he's stabilized but first I hack the womans limbs off with a rusty bonesaw. Ragnvald isn't nice.

Option two is to attempt to fascinate him with Ragnvald's awesomeness. However I think in this case it'll autofail since we're here in inititivie so that's out. If Zyren rules otherwise this might be the option I take.
Keep him fascinated while stretchy stretchy is applied to Patrissa elsewhere followed by rusty bonesaw Ragnvald isn't nice.

Third option and likely best option is to command spam Attalas until he behaves himself or until he is subdued. PArt of this will e convincing Patrissa to release whatever hold she has on him. This might also involve the slow application of a high strength scor and a rusty bonesaw. Ragnvald isn't nice.

Bottom line is you've gottan Ragnvald involved in a petty squabble over a dirty whore. Ragnvald isn't nice.

So what should I do?

HP: 142/165 AC:32 FF:29 T:17 F:16 R:18 W:20 Init:+4 Percep:+28

Screw it. We're dead anyway.

Seeing the carnage on the brink of unfolding a certain sense of self preservation finally overcomes Ragnvald. He steps back from the incoming riot and speaks clearly, plainly, and without any sense of threat rather with the cold sense of inevitability he simply knows he will be obeyed with the confidence of an ancient king who toppled the elven civilization. "HALT!"

Suddenly Attalas's vision is filled with a giant of a...thing like an iron golem or perhaps a demon. Regardless it's a figure clad in dark rusted full plate with razor sharp spikes jutting from all around it. In his hands he holds a greatsword before him in preparation to meet your oncoming charge. Attalas is suddenly gripped by an overwhelming fear of this being this Lord in Iron. To move is to be cut down, to attack is to be cut down, to do anything but that implicit and straightforward order to stand in place and do nothing is to know what it is to defy a god without pity or mercy.

Spontaneously cast Command on Attalas dropping Divine favor. DC14. Since I've got him ahrd on the initiative he should be flat footed so no AOO's if this is not the case I will endeavor not to be in reach when I cast.

Assuming He fails the save. Please for the love of god do.

Turning to the others his orders are implicit and as direct as the one he gave Attalas.

To Nymeria: "Release the wench."

To Patrissa: "Release whatever hold on him you have. You cannot keep him. You obviously cannot control him."

To Rekkart: "Stop pissing yourself."

Now if he has failed the save I will now walk over and get myself in a comfortable flanking position with someone while still not raising my sword...yet.

To Attalas: "Behave yourself. Do you not see how he cowers before you? How he sits in a chair of pain at your mercy? He will not harm you. He cannot harm you. He is a helpless old man and a fool. Kill him now and that makes you a coward and an animal. Do you understand?"

Will save 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

As he turned on the Paladin the whole world turned into Chaos for the poor Ogre. There was his hated tormentor finally getting his due. The man who once turned a blind eye to injustice out of prejudice against the unsightly. There sits the man who tormented Attalas, and was happy to let his injuries go unaided, yet clamoured to aid the pretty and more human stranger.

The same Paladin who had spited him and mocked him, the servant of Iomedae, and was it not a depiction of Iomedae that had fallen upon the Ogres head and almost killed him? Did the Paladin make no remark of this and sek to aid him? The Paladin was clearly behind the act of cowardly betrayal. Was it not the same Paladin that sought to ensure Attalas was up the front and in danger, and when the undead appeared seemed ever to be absent? When the undead rent a huge chunk from Attalas flesh was it not the Paladin that left it bleeding when it was in his power to heal.

No, Rekkart was behind it all.

What of darling Patrissa? Her love so true and so shamelessly stated, and yet Sir Rekkart would never allow it, not with his poorly concealed contempt and covetousness of Patrissa, he wants her for himself and will clearly kill to get her.

The way is clear.

No! Patrissa has been grabbed by the stranger that shouted and yelled at him, the evil woman who rattled him earlier with her vicious words and fierce composure has taken Patrissa captive, clearly an ally of Rekkart! Stabbing at her though might endager Patrissa!

Ragnvald though is wise and a man that has only shown decency and right thinking, amid all the confusion his words echo in Attalas ears - "Kill him now!" the words ringing like a bell in his mind, and thus the Ogre carries out the command with immediacy and obedience.

Sir Rekkart takes the original Coup De Grace of 58 damage as he is run through, Fort Save DC 68

There is a short moment of "I knew you are a monster" in Sir Rekkart's eyes before the sword smashes through his chest. He dies nearly instantly as his heart is literally broken.

Patrissa shrieks in horror at the scene and tries to wrestle free from Nymeria's hold

Carefully Ragnvald goes over the bodies keeping an ear out lettign the others continue their pointless murderous squabble. It appears that Mord did not have to do anything. Any pings on the old detect magic?

"And where will you go I wonder?" Ragnvald says as he crosses the paladins arms over his sword and closes his eyes. "Outside? You should know by now that's a fools errand. Perhaps you'll find a quiet dusty corner and give the dog what he wants as a reward? I'm sure you'll find that quite an experience. All the rumors I've ever heard have suggested that ogres do not make gentle lovers. But now that you mention it perhaps Mord was the hand who held the axe. But was he the will? The mind? Did he perhaps get manipulated as our large dog is now? And then when he needed the aid most you abandoned him as you have doubtless abandoned dozens of others? Magic is a funny thing. I can command men to halt in their tracks, to flee before me, to fall to the ground in supplication but it's not a guaranteed thing, or even a permanent thing. Sadly it seems the dog's lust is stronger than his good sense. A pity. I would have liked to have seen this paladins vaunted skill before he died." Standing up Ragnvald cracks his back. "Three down. Three to go. And m'lady if I have learned anything in my time here it's that you are doomed no matter the size of your dog."

With that Ragnvald makes a thorough search of the priest.

Out of my way, ser! Nymeria practically shouts at Halgrak, attempting to slip past him. I cannot bear to be in this room any longer!

Jez: If you want Nymeria to check for magic, you'll have to ask her nicely. :) She was just about to be destroyed...

Oh sry, Rekkart's sword is magic.

Halgrak let's Nymeria pass and sighs, but Killian follows her.

Patrissa: You shall not call Attalas a dog! He's a hero and he defended my honour...and think twice before you go on with insulting us - if your magic is too weak to hold him, maybe you shouldn't provoke him anymore...
