Sorry about that. That was indeed my own force of habit. However it probably is a bit more secure to scheme at the Revive than at Goldie's.

While you sit and discuss your plan in the taproom of the Revive (when did you change the location?^^) Bobo rummages in the kitchen and prepares some steaks.

Only when Vaughn formulates his last ideas, Bobo pokes his head out of the kitchen

Oh - I could find that out! I still have Esulan Worsh's seat in the Necromancer's Council! They will surely meet soon and discuss.

"You still have ties to that old necromancer?! Are you sure it's safe to go back to that council? I mean Crazzleboks! What kind of necromantic powers do you even have, Cousin? I just want to make sure you are safe hanging out with that crowd!"

Tal'Zeneb's eyes narrow upon Bobo "Yes, what kind of necromantic powers do you have, friend Bobo?"

Bobo looks over his shoulder just to make sure that everyone is really staring at him

Me? Oh! No necromantic powers at all, but the seat in the council was Worsh's for one year. And since he's dead that seat falls to his acolyte - which is...uh was...me.

"Well, that was certainly very clever of you to hold onto that seat, but didn't you think that you were a little over your head on a council of necromancers. I mean, Crazzleboks. I've done a number of crazy things in my life, but serving on that type of committee was never one of my callings. Tell me cousin, before you found cooking, was necromancy something you actually aspired to pursue? Why didn't you ever think about becoming an apprentice to Gobbletor? He certainly would have treated you better than old Horus!"

"Well tell me, Bobo, if you return to this council, do you really think you can find out their plans? We need just what Daggers said. When are the necromancers planning to assault, and what are they planning to do?"

Well, actually I never planned to take part in such a council meeting - the last two I just pretended to be ill, heh!
Becoming a necromancer? No that was never an option...actually I didn't understand what Worsh was doing until I saw the first zombie...I thought the Revive was just a gift shop, stupid me.

Bobo puts another steak in the pan and scratches his head

But yeah...this time being ill won't be an option, eh? I'm allowed to bring a bodyguard - any takers? Together we could surely get more information than I could on my own.

"I am not much of a bodyguard. Daggers or Alchy would be far better at that. But I am curious what goes on at those meetings. Hey, maybe you could send Kenta? They wouldn't know who he is. I mean, the Wee Bluets are starting to become well known and I am sure our presence would not exactly be welcome. However, Kenta is mostly unknown. Maybe he would be a good choice for you!"

Ysoki

"Bring Kenta need make sure Buta come too... Buta gets lonely otherwise."

Ok! Sounds like a plan! I guess we will soon be visited by one of the messengers of the council...but until then...

Bobo heaves the large platter with steaks on the table and hops on a chair.

I really wonder whether Alchy has already reached his destination?

"Kazam, Kazam! Now this is where you have become a true master, cousin! Home cooked food just the way a Tosscobble likes it! Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!"

Kyren picks up his napkin and places it in his lap. He then takes his knife and fork and prepares to use them on the oncoming feast.

"I think this is what makes the Revive such a wonderful haven in the midst of such a gloomy city!"

Taking his share of the food Bobo has prepared, Kal'Zeneb is most surprised by the quality. "I think I can say quite truthfully, Bobo, that we are all glad you did not pursue a career in necromancy." he says around a mouthful of food.

In the end Bobo was right, after you had three platters of steaks, someone knocks on the door. The "closed today due to cleanup efforts" sign has no effect and so the visitor knocks and knocks until Bobo at last opens the door.

A zombie with a letter nailed to his forehead stands in the doorway and moans loudly something that sounds like "POOOAAAAAST".

Yeah, very subliminal, eh? :) No, it's just the zombie postman!

Bobo looks back at Kyren, then at the postman and sighs. He rips the message off the zombie's forehead and reads it out aloud

Fellow necromancer Bobo, owner of the "Revive for a Better Life", you are invited to a meeting of the necromancer guild tonight at Horus Ilaktya's palace. As usual you may bring one living or undead bodyguard but not more.

Bobo scratches his head and looks at Kenta

Turning to Kenta, Kyren says, "Take good care of my cousin, Kenta. He may have made some poor decisions in the past, but we try not to hold it against him." Taking him aside, Kyren adds discretely, "And do your best to keep him from getting into any more trouble. He has a propensity for such behavior."

Bobo looks at Kenta and Buta and shrugs

I'm as ready as possible...

The prospect of meeting so many necromancers isn't very healthy for Bobo's sanity it seems...

You'll arrive at the ossuary once your little chat is over.

--------

Necromancer party:

Kenta, Bobo and the silently following Vaughn wander into the darkest and oldest part of Ankar-Te.
While the whole district lies in total darkness all the time, the many lights of brothels, shops and taverns cause a certain illumination that sometimes lets you forget that this place never sees the sun; but here, in the oldest part of the necromancer district only here and there yellowish street lanterns illuminate the old house facades and threatening shadows (no, not you Vaughn) wait in every corner.
The mansions in this area are all owned by only the wealthiest of the necromancers and above them all on a small hill lies the residence of Horus Ilaktya.
Carved directly into the monumental city wall adorned with black and white marble, his mansion looks like a gothic manor with gargoyles and strange demon statues leering down on visitors. Your trip ends in front of an iron gate where an ogre zombie stands guard and leers down on you.

I believe so, all those who die rightly belong to my Mistress. If it is true that the cultists abandon the bodies of the no longer young goddesses to the river; thereby indirectly abetting the necromantic trade...if my brethren do not know of this already , they should be informed. I also go to obtain guidance on whether my vows allow my cooperation with the necromancers.

The Godsmouth Cathedral towers over the rest of the Bottoms District and its gothic majesty seems to inspire its surroundings. The whole area has an air of morbid majesty and the normally deafening noise of Kaer Maga is reduced to hushed whispers here...

The ossuary that lies below the cathedral is only accessible through the cathedral, the undergournd tunnel network or from the cliff side.

Necrosophic:

Bobo nods

Oh yes, that I am...that I am...

Once the gate is opened you enter the "park" of Ilaktya's mansion.
Looks like the necromancer once tried to grow trees here. Their crippled remains now give the place an atmosphere of decay and death. However, zombie gardeners still "tend" the remains of the park, walking around with tools and digging here and there apparently with a plan.

@ Vaughn: Follow sneaky-wise or climb the fence later?

"It isn't so much permission I seek, but guidance from my Mistress. Here in the cathedral, I can pray in peace, away from the cacophony of Kaer Maga. " Tal'Zeneb says holding open an enormous door for his diminutive friend.

not expecting a visitation here, Tal just needed a chance to review his experiences and come to the conclusion that at this time the Child Cult was the greater evil...

Anyone with a name that rhymes with Ponod has got to be an interesting person. What sort of things are you guys going to talk about? Can I join in the conversation?"

Nercomaniacs:

Bobo arches an eyebrow

Who's the Spiral man?

You ride towards the looming mansion and Bobo gets paler and paler...in front of the massive black portal waits Emerald flanked by two hill giant zombies. The beasts look like mountains of putrefying flesh hold together by crude stitchings. Both are armed with two-handed hammers large enough to reduce a human to pulp with one strike.

Back at the gate Vaughn thinks that climbing over the iron fence would be better than trying out his sneaking luck.

Cathedral:

The inner of the cathedral is gloomy, only here and there are islands of illumination in the form of votive candles. The addressed acolyte nods and without saying a word looks for Zonod.

As you walk over to the transept, Kyren realises that even though more than two hundred people are assembled in the various parts of the cathedral it is nearly absolutely quiet...only steps and every now and then a whispered word can be heard.

"My Mistress' domain is death and rebirth; both serious subjects deserving proper respect. There is not spell per se in effect in the cathedral, merely an aspect of my Mistress' nature; as well as the calm introspection that is expected of those who toil here or attend worship."

Having arrived at the transept, Tal'Zeneb asks Kyren "If you may my friend, please refrain from your important questions for a few moments."

How can they keep this up for so long?! Don't they get bored?

Cathedral:

After a short while vice-historian Zonod arrives. A venerably old man with a long grey beard wearing the equally greyish robes of the Pharasmian priesthood. A small book dangles from his belt and he wears a spiral-amulet.

He nods to Kyren but does not say a word not to disturb Tal's prayer.
