"Friend Kyren, I cannot see him, but I could see the item. And I saw it rise from the table and disappear, as if it had been slipped into an invisible Tian's tunic. My statement was meant for those involved in the enterprise, Buta and Alchy."
Kyren Tosscobble |
"I see," Kyren replies to Tal'Zeneb "Or perhaps I should say I don't see, as the correct case may be. In any case, this does seem rather exciting. Kazam! The only thing that I'm missing is a little treat to snack upon!"
Kenta Gushiken |
Sneaking further out Kenta draws near to Kyren to whisper "All good, meet outside when hell break loose" before giving Buta a pat on the rump and whispering "Hataraku!" before sneaking back outside the auction house...
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 20 - 5 = 44
Buta's grunting stops and his ears lie flat against his back before an unearthly sound is uttered from the boar's lungs. A teeth rattling, ear splitting SQUUUEEEEEAAAAAALLL! and the hog charges clear across the auction room and towards the auctioneer.

As he had picked up the cue that it was all on, the cats, one man sized, one almost the size of a small house, both make a gigantic rowrl and go after the pig like its every meal they never had. The two bundles of flying fur seem hellboent on eating the fleeing boar, and don'e seem to mind crashing and bashing their way to getting it in their bellies... they follow the pig right towards the auctioneer.
Kyren Tosscobble |
Kyren claps his hands together as a delightful smile appears on his face.
Now this is what I call a show!
Kyren takes his cue and makes his way to the exit where he departs the auction and looks for the others. When he finds the others he exclaims a single word the expresses how he feels.
"Kazam!"

Buta lunges at the auctioneer, though turns his tusks to avoid overly injuring the man...
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 2 = 30
...sending the startled gent flying backwards to bounce roughly off the wall. The boar then squeals again - taking off towards the guards at the storeroom's threshold...
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27 Assume that works
...knocking one clear of the fracas. He then pauses to allow the cats to get close enough to pounce upon him - and begins to roll drunkenly across the auction room floor with the big cats nipping at his haunches.
I was just playing some Blues Bros songs for my son ;)

The guards didn't need Berry's warning shout, they all run for the remaining goods and the money. Only heartbeats later the bags of money are secured and the store room is locked up and barricaded by a throng of guards who watch the unleashed zoo in silent awe. The auctioneer is liying unconsciously somewhere behind the podium and obviosuly the only order the orcish guards do remember is "protect the goods". Attacking the intruders does not seem to be an option for them...
The remaining attendees of the auction have already left the building, now only you, the wild animals and the guards remain...
Vaughn Elliot |
I belive this is our cue to exit, no? You guys follow our intrepid animals out, I'll bring up the rear and discourage any pursuit. GOGOGO!!
Vaughn tries to heard his friends ahead of him to leave this place to safety. He's watching for any pursuit, and will intimidate first and stab later.

The 20th Century version of what should be taking place....
This was one of the reasons such a great movie went bankrupt!!

Kyren waits for the others outside of the auction house and when they reunite he says, "Well done, my friends, but let's not tarry a while. We must find a place to go and rest. Kenta, Tal, do either of you know a place to stay down here, or at the least, a quick way to return us to Kaer Maga?"
Kyren Tosscobble |
"Kenta has no idea... maybe back to bar? Job done right, time for sake?"
"Well, I am happy to try some of your sake, but first I want to make sure the item is secure. Do you have it kept safely away?"
Zyren, how long do you anticipate it would take to return to the Broken Chain if we left shortly?
Kyren Tosscobble |
"Tal, if you can lead us up to the surface, that would be greatly appreciated! If we all make it safely, I will treat you to a night out at the Gryphon Plume. Besides, it is high time that you were introduced to some other things into your diet."
Turning to Kenta, Kyren adds, "Please take it nice and easy my good friend. We certainly do not want any sweaty documents. Here come walk at my side and let me know if you need a rest. It's time we leave this place and make our way to the surface. If all goes well, I will be showing you my eastern vestments tonight!"
Vaughn Elliot |
You going to show him yoru eastern vestmens on the first date, Kyren?? Wow, you must be impressed! ;-)
As we start to travel away from the Bazaar . . .
Tal'Zaneb, thanks for your help in guiding us to the Bazaar. And Kenta, that was slick--nicely done!! Are you both coming to Kaer Maga with us now, or do you have some other plans?
Kenta Gushiken |
Assuming the getaway was clean
Kenta retrieves the scrollcase from within his armor and hands it off to Kyren "Here is scroll... hope it is right one, otherwise Kenta feel foolish" and the wayang spends a couple of moments scratching Buta under his chin. He then doffs his helmet and the faceguard morphs into an image of a cherubic bald and portly man with a beaming smile. He walks alongside Buta.
To Vaughn, Kenta shrugs "No job now, may as well tag along - look like you peoples have lot of fun" chuckling.
To Kyren, Kenta pauses in confused thought "Kenta not sure if Kenta understand..." hoping that the euphemism has been lost in translation.
Zyren DM |
With steady step and lots of cunning Tal is able to lead you through a maze of hidden passages and secret corridors. After several hours of journeying through the darkness below Kaer Maga, you begin to hear muffled voices again. Minutes later you reach one of the great underground construction yards of the Ardoc Brotherhood. A pair of massive rune golems watches you and one of them points to a large staircase that leads further up to daylight.
Vaughn Elliot |
"So, this feels like it's the part where Vaughn or Kyren goes "That was easy"." Then Berry frowns. "And then all the bad happens at once."
Oh, come on!! What could possibly go wrong???
Alcheringa |
A look of accusation and blame forms on Als face as he looks to Vaughn.
"Suppose we needed some treasure, if something jumps on us now we will at least get some payment off its corpse"
Kyren Tosscobble |
Kyren graciously accepts the scroll case and replies, "I cannot thank you enough, Kenta. You are a hero and I am happy to offer you a position with the Wee Bluets if you would be so inclined to consider?"
To Kyren, Kenta pauses in confused thought "Kenta not sure if Kenta understand..." hoping that the euphemism has been lost in translation.
"What's there to understand, my friend? We have done a marvelous this in the name of Freedom and this scroll will help the people of Andoran for many years to come. Now, let's get ourselves over to the Broken Chain and deliver this scroll. I really do not like carrying it around any longer than we need to. Besides, I want you to meet Turodan and Chef Gobbletor if he is around."
Kyren lead the group onward to the Broken Chain Link promptly and with no delay.
Kyren Tosscobble |
Kenta again shrugs "Eh, Kenta have nothing better to do... happy to join for now... you get paid?" the last comment speculative but hopeful.
"That is a fine question, my friend. Let's see what Turodan and his ambassador friend offer. Let's just hope that you got the right scroll. Either way, I promise to still take you out to the Gryphon Plume for dinner."
Alcheringa |
"They ask much, yet give nothing, these Andoran people. They are like baby birds in a nest who continually go 'cheep cheep' all the time. They take no responsibility for their safety, set no teeth against the wolves, but rather wander like lost sheep, at the mercy of anything hungry. But now they have sacred magic toilet paper that tells them what should be already abundantly clear, that they are free. Free people don't need to be told they are free, they simply are, yet these people I think are not free, they are shackled by in the mind, and hobbled by a lack of courage that they steadfastly refuse to grow."
"Humans are normally a predator, yet these ones are all just prey"
Berry Peelyblossom |
"Well yes all humans are often just prey. To vampires, zombies, orcs, dragons, shoggoths, dire sharks, ogres, large swarms of flesh eating centipedes, the gigant widows of mwangi, giant flytraps, tyrannosaurus rexes, magma crabs, gelatinous cubes, giant leeches, rot grubs, most species of abyssal demon, at least one variant of aquatic eye tyrant I can think of, Krakens, chromatic dragons, serpentfolk, ghouls, cannibalistic drow," Berry goes on for quite a long while before sighing and shaking her head sadly. "Frankly I'm amazed humans have managed to survive this long let alone become a species that's considered relatively dominant."
Tal'Zeneb |
Listening with growing astonishment to the constant banter and intelligent conversation among the Wee Bluets, Tal'Zeneb nods to himself. They were remarkable in their disparate opinions and respect for those different than their own. He could enjoy remaining in their association.
Picking up Berry's last comment, Tal says "All beings, even those extraordinary beings you mentioned all eventually are gathered to my mistresses' bosom. I could be said that humans, being in general the shortest lived of any race, embrace this fact to the fullest and strive the hardest to achieve what can be achieved in their relatively short time on this plane."
Zyren DM |
The playful and not so playful banter keeps you occupied until you reach the Borken Chain Link at last. The guild house of the Fremen is adorned with colored bands and ribbons and the beer benches in front of it are all occupied by people of all different races and social backgrounds. There seems to be some kind of feast, pigs are turning on spits and several serving wnches uphold a constant flow of beer mugs from the inside to the terrace. As you draw closer, you can make out that all attendees wear Fremen badges, so this must be one of their major gatherings.
Kyren Tosscobble |
"Kazam! Kazam! We arrive just in time for a festival! Now do we have timing or what?! Ok lady and gents, let's go in and meet with Turodan and his friends and enjoy the drink and conversation. You remember what my Auntie Milyren use to say. 'All work and no play makes Kyren a dull boy.' Well, we can't disappoint Auntie Milyren now can we?!"
Kyren smiles and greets people on the way in as he leads the others inside, looking for Turodan.
"Well met, well met, my friends . . . ."
"Good to see you! I hope you've been keeping out of trouble. . . "
Alcheringa |
Alcheringa is busy looking for the trouble that will no doubt soon arrive... "Reckon it wont take the auctioneers long to work out what went missing and who might be wanting it?"
Kyren Tosscobble |
"Kazam, Kazam! If it isn't two of my favorite people!" Kyren exclaims as he enters the kitchen with open arms and a smile! "Ahh, the smells are absolutely wonderful! Can you tell me what you are preparing this time, Chef Gobbletor?!"
Turning to Turodan, he adds, "And for you, my friend, I have a particular Bill of Freedom that you and your friend have been looking for." Pulling out the scroll case he presents its to Turodan with a great smile upon his face! "I present this to you! Ta Daaa!"
Zyren DM |
No...you...Kyren!
Turodan takes the bill and nods approvingly Very impressive. You have to tell me what adventures you experienced and which dangers you overcame! I...
...nor Kyren has to taste first! Gobbletor interrups and hands Kyren a spoon This is something absolutely new! Crypt snail on a bed of cave mushrooms! You already guessed it, eh? I have started a new underground cook book!
Kyren Tosscobble |
"Very impressive. You have to tell me what adventures you experienced and which dangers you overcame! I..."
"Naturally I could not have done it without the Wee Bluets. In truth they deserve all the credit! I just did the haggling at the Bazaar of Secrets. But speaking of the Bazaar of Secrets, I met two new friends who are quickly become very dear to me. I want to introduce both of you to Kenta from the distant land of Tia Xia and another dear friend, Tal'Zeneb from the hidden underground temple of Pharasma." Turning to his new guests, Kyren waves his hand and says, "May I introduce you to the Assemblyman of the Fremen, Turodan Gestol and Chef Extraordinaire, Gondel Gobbletor!"
...nor Kyren has to taste first! Gobbletor interrups and hands Kyren a spoon. This is something absolutely new! Crypt snail on a bed of cave mushrooms! You already guessed it, eh? I have started a new underground cook book!"
Replying to Gobbletor, Kyren gladly takes the spoon and holds it in his hand and replies, "Well you know I love your escargot in mushroom cream sauce, but you don't need to go overboard with crypt food! Not everybody is dying to try it you know!" Kyren says with a grin and takes the spoon and smells its contents. Suddenly he tastes the snail and mushroom and there is a grand pause as the flavors reach out to his taste buds and the connoisseur within waits to see if this dish is gourmet or simply mixitation at work again.
Dare I ask if this meets Kyren's expectation this time?
Zyren DM |
Gondel, a chef of unmatched experience, realises instantly that Kyren has certain reservations.
Mixitation is a concept of yesterday, this is the new state of the art in cooking.
And actually, it smells very good. As you put it into your mouth, there is a moment where it tastes like paper, but then suddenly a broad variety of aromas literally explodes in your mouth - not all of them are good, but most!
Turodan shakes his head and grins
It's not as bad as I thought in the first place. then he puts his hand forth to greet Tal and Kenta I see you are a priest of "She who guides the Souls to the Afterlife"?
