This is Pavaan, half orc alchemist done, background and fluff below.
crunch is in profile

background:

looks, A 6 foot half orc, with dark green skin, his cloths have tears and stains in them from many different objects. his frame holds power and some grace of movement, But the way he talks puts people off a little bit.

personality, always looking for something that might come to threaten him, He does not trust easily, but those that he does can count on him to guard there backs. Quite at times, but always thinking, he looks to learn, but stays on guard. never knowing when he has to fight, or what he would have to fight. He would rather be reading a book or learning something new if possible.

background
Having grown up looking more like an orc then human with his long teeth, he was very happy when he was first taken in, that is until he was made an experiment for new drugs on, or made to fight others for his "savors" entertainment. he learned to ear and drink fast as well as fight with his fists if he had nothing else. After he escaped, having be thought dead after one of the tests of drugs on him put him into a deathlike state, he found a old discarded book on alchemy, he did not understand much of it but he remembered that some of the men mentioned new alchemy drugs, when they were testing him. He had to know more and started to study, he did not have any money so he started working for the thieves guild as a scout, then as muscle to move things as he got older and stronger. the money helped him to live, as well as fund his research into this alchemy. as his knowledge rose he started making poisons, nothing that would kill, just knock out. when the guild found out he could do that, they started to put him to work making poisons for them. he would only make ones that would not kill. all the while he kept his hate of the man that hurt him close. So that one day he can have his vengeance on him.

side note, i would like to be evil for this guy, but can easily be neutral

Questions:

1) How many are you going to recruit?

2) If only 4, are you going with the classic 4 party and select one of each category?
i.e. (Assault(Fighter), Skilled(Rogue), Divine(Cleric), Arcane(Sorc))

3) What Init system will you use?
i.e.(follow in order rolled, or Us Verses Them)

4) What map method will you use
(i.e. Google Docs, or image maps on Photobucket)?

5) Will you be tracking Party XP, or will the players?

6) How would you handle the replacements for the spell-like ability of aasimar and tiefling?

** spoiler omitted **

1) As said in the OP, it will be 4-5 most likely 5.

2) I will pick based on character and with the mindset of a balanced team without too much overlap

3) I will roll init when combat starts and the events will go in order rolled

4) I have not decided yet

5) I will track it

6) I don't quite understand this, why would I replace their spell-like ability?

DM Zirhark, if you don't mind, could you put a list of all the applicants up? Maybe with any notes to whether they are or are not completed entries by your standard, or any issues you may have?

Dropping out

I'm wounded, sir, that you have overlooked me so. This is martinaj's character, from one page back. Just reposting to keep my name in. My background is here...

[spoiler=Backstory]Marcus was born to affluent family in Egorian, capital city of the glorious nation of Cheliax. Though not the eldest son of the family, he was poised from birth to inherit everything his father had - his elder brother Ardon, as a tiefling, would never be accepted into polite society, nor would he ever be accepted by his family. As children, Marcus was trained to fight, to manage estates, and was shown off to the world as his father's heir. In the mean time, Ardon was ridiculed in public, bullied by other children, and he found an escape in his books. Behind closed doors, Marcus was his brother's sole friend. Much to his father's frustration, he never accepted Ardon's status as a lesser being. As far as Marcus was concerned, Ardon was first and foremost his brother, horns or no.
Their father's negligent treatment of Ardon did much to drive a wedge between him and Marcus, and so when he reached adulthood, Marcus applied to the Order of the Scourge as a signifier. His martial training, along with the spells he had learned from Ardon (who's love of reading had turned into an interest in magic), would place him on a fast track to success and prestige in the order, while his father would be robbed of an heir. Ardon, in the meantime, moved to Korvosa, where he'd heard prejudices against tieflings were not so severe, and there he planned to raise the funds to enlist in the Acadamae.

Marcus did well during his time as an Armiger in the Hellknights. He wasn't the best, but he was better than most, and he had a disciplined mind that lent itself equally well to mastering magic, improving his swordwork, and, most importantly, following orders. Things were going well when the letter arrived.

A rider brought a note in Ardon's hand - vague hints of debts and a man named Gedron Lamm. He sounded like he was in trouble, and he sounded like he was scared. Marcus brought the note to his family, but his father only scoffed, insisting he had no more sons. Marcus had forsworn his inheritance and could not offer Ardon any sort of financial help. All he had was his arms, his armor, and is training.

Marcus had sworn vows, and was pledged to serve the Hellknights, but he could not abandon his brother. After several restless nights, he made the decision to leave the Order and make for Korvosa. He stole away on a ship, spending nearly everything he had saved on the passage, and now stays in a flop room in a run-down inn while he tries to locate his brother.[/backstory]

Oh yeah sorry I forgot to tell that Yorick was the rogue roof runner/scout and Ash Stormbound the inquisitor of calistria(possibly infiltrator cause the trickery suits well calistria) that I talked about in an earlier post.

I should send more information soon with a little more of crunch.

Updated list

Alaric Morgain -Bard(Archaeologist)
Rumal - Alchemist
Alessio Cooper - Witch
Besnik Brastle - Fighter(one handed)
Yorick 'sky seeker' - Rouge (Roof Runner)
Ash Stormbound - Inquisitor
Gregorius Valerii - Fighter (Archer)
Cherry Blossom's - Witch
Silas L'Habile - Bard(detective)
Jake the Rat - Summoner
Baral Dorda - Monk
Dextrin Malchoist - Oracle of Flame
Kessel Bargone - Fighter(Unbreakable)
Alain Kingfisher - Inquisitor
Gainus Tindareus - Inquisitor (Infiltrator)
Bront Cholag - Alchemist
Marcus Ignatius - Magus (Staff Magus)

Ugh, trying to edit the post to put that in a spoiler, but China is being fickle with its Internet tonight. Anyways, Marcus is a magus (no archtype, sorry. That was a holdover from an earlier incarnation), and can't really go back to Cheliax, so he'd be looking to build a home in Korvosa. Having deserted the Order of the Scourge, applying to the Order of the Nail is too risky, so he'd probably try to sign up for the city watch, or, if it was too corrupt, find anything honest and do a bit of vigilante crimefighting on the side. I envision him as a bit of a tank, despite the 3/4 BAB. Sticking to enemies and using spells to control the flow of the battlefield.

As far as my gaming experience...

I've been into RPGs since I was 11 and the 2nd edition Monster Manual caught my eye in a bookstore. I bought it and started pouring through the pages, and when I got the PHB and DMG on my next birthday I devoured them pretty rapidly. Finally found a group after 3rd edition came out in high school, then started GMing with 3.5 in college. Dabbled in 4th, settled on Pathfinder, where I've mostly GMed, but badly wanted to play more. I'm also pretty fond of Shadowrun, and I've trifled in GURPS, Savage Worlds, Warhammer, and a little-known western called Cold Steel Reign.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 4

Wow, I'm kind of surprised nobody submitted an urban ranger for this AP. So, without further ado, I present an alternate build of Gregorius Valerii as urban ranger. He's still pretty much the same, only with a few more skills and other perks, and one less feat.

@DM Zirhak - I'm fine with playing either class, though now that I compare the two builds I'm leaning a bit towards ranger. On a side note, the "framed" trait is great for the character thematically, but neither dropout nor family honor is very adequate. Would you be open to tweaking or perhaps customizing said trait?

Actually I did back on the first page but seemed to have been over looked.

Sorry bout that Kazadarin, I remember reading your stuff yesterday but I just missed you on the list. Fixed it here on my home file.

@Pedro - Noted the alternate build. What were you thinking in terms of alternate trait?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 4

@DM Zirhak - Ok, I just cooked this up, but see if you like it. It goes along the same lines as the other two options in the Framed trait.

Trait: Framed (Defendant):

Defendant: You were the one accused, and your case went through the whole legal system. Although you were eventually found not guilty by the law, the damage had been done. Gossip spread, and you were forced to abandon your career after the blow to your reputation. As a result, you have become acquainted not only with the intricate legal and bureaucratic procedures of your town but also with all sorts of hearsay going around. You gain a +2 bonus on Knowledge (local) checks. (or, with the more recent rules, a +1 trait bonus to Knowledge (local) checks and Knowledge (local) is always a class skill for you).

Dang, that is a big list.

Liberty's Edge

I'm going to post my rough concept first and see if it floats your boat at all, since gun-using characters can be a divisive topic sometimes.

(Note: this is going to get MUCH more detailed, this is just a skeleton of an outline)

Messidia Jochalt is the child of a moderately powerful wizard from Nex and a marksman from Alkenstar's military. She became enamored with her parents opposing professions at a young age and spent much of her formative years blending the two into a singular practice. When she came of age, she and a dear childhood friend decided to strike out on their own to find fortune. They settled in Korvosa. Unfortunately, it was not long before her friend developed an addiction to shiver. After many months of trying to persuade her friend to go clean, he overdosed and did not survive. Messidia traced the source of the drug back to Gaedren and she intends to get revenge.

Messidia would be a musket-weilding Spellslinger wizard with a one-level dip into Musket Master gunslinger at level 2. Her opposition schools will be Enchantment, Divination, Illusion and Abjuration making her primarily a blaster loosing her spells through her musket. She is going to be either a Tiefling or a Half-Elf, I have not decided yet.

If you like the idea, I will post the full build later this evening.

Orannis, I am not sure I am going to work guns into the setting this time around. I already must convert everything over to pathfinder so I'm going to go ahead an say no to that. If you still wish to submit another concept feel free to do so.

I've finished Picking the archetype and race,
A Human Fighter(Polearm Master)

Time to get to work on the character data and finishing the background.

Going to take "Addition Traits" that match the background.

Also just realized I forgot to include my gaming history. Fixing this right now!

Gaming History:

Got into the hobby when I was a kid, when an unsuspecting aunt gave me a copy of Fighting Fantasy #1: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. I read/played the hell out of that book. When I saw a copy of the original Red Box in a toy store, I begged my parents to buy it for me - thus began a lifelong addiction and obsession.

Since then, I've played every incarnation of D&D since 2nd, as well as plenty of other systems. For fun, here's a quick list of games I've played (Aberrant, Brave New World, Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands, Earthdawn, Feng Shui, GURPS, Heroes Unlimited, Imagine, James Bond 007, Kult, Legend of the Five Rings, Marvel Super Heroes, Ninjas & Superspies, Over the Edge, Paranoia!, QAGS, Rifts, Savage Worlds, Torg, Unknown Armies, Vampire: The Masquerade, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, XCrawl...and sadly, I don't have anything in my collection for Y or Z), and there's far more than that on the list. I've run several campaigns, both on and offline, and I enjoy the stories that come from long campaigns with the same characters. I've played in many Living campaigns, from some Living City on up, and I love the shared world stories that come from these as well. I've only recently (within the last few years) rediscovering Pathfinder, and have been enjoying the APs I've been in thus far.

I have never gotten a chance to play an inquisitor yet and I feel that my concept of Gaius is well-suited to this AP, but given the lack of healy-types, I can switch him over to a cleric if needed. I would just prefer to play an inquisitor.

My plan as of right now is that outwardly he appears handsome and charming, but it's more of a means to get what he wants (and of course his primary motivation at the moment is revenge). He's not that bright, but he's deceptive and a very scary guy (high intimidate plus Enforcer feat--I feel an infiltrator with the torture inquisition fits this pretty well). I'm going to dip at least one level of rogue (Thug) to improve my demoralizing abilities.

It reminds me of Marv from Sin City: "I need to find something out, I just go out and look for somebody that knows more than me and I go and I ask them. Sometimes, I ask pretty hard"

Applications close Tomorrow at midnight pacific. After that I will announce the group as soon as I have picked, no later than sunday night.

I asked if you would take a tattooed sorcerer but you never answered ^^"

I mean... my inquisitor (Ash Stormbound) and Gainus Tindareus are like almost the same character, but yeah i do agree that the concept fits well. Thing is, if you accept the tattooed sorcerer, I'll probably just take back Ash, since having 2 time the same character in that list is kind of lame.

Assuming our two characters made it, this would make for an interesting dynamic, you revere Calistria in her purview of vengeance & I revere her more in her aspects of lust & trickery...

This could be fun

Guerrero is scary

That was a cool scene (never seen that show), but Gaius is definitely not that smart, hehe. But the tone of his scariness was right on.

Definitely. I have a background all constructed, just have to type it up. I'll probably put in on here tomorrow, so you can see how much it meshes with your character.

Are you doing an archetype? Witches are awesome, IMO.

Jake the rat is finished. Sorry, the last bit of his character sheet is a bit messy as I got called away on work and had to finish from my phone. He currently fills the skilled rogue slot with a little magic support, but if he chosen with a real rogue I'll switch out Puck's evolutions next level so not to step on other characters areas.

I do plan to take leadership at 7th level, but won't wander around with an army. I plan to take the other street kids as his followers who will be eyes and ears around the city.

In answer to your question: I have been role playing for 20 years and played countless systems. I have recently moved cities so started PbP to keep playing with old friends but also to get my rping fix. While I am experience enough to munchin I prefer to role play. If there are any questions let me know.

I can post easily and try to work with the party. The discussion thread is easy enough to use. I have played since 2nd Edition though was away from it for about 10 years. I played Earthdawn, Battletech, Shadowrun, White Wolf games and other things. Played some Living Greyhawk, Arcanis and Blackmoor before heading to 4.0 then a few months ago home group started Pathfinder.

Spoiler:
Peye was born to a family of forgers and followers of Torag. He learned that he loved to work the forge but he also enjoyed seeing where the products of his labor went. He started going with his uncle, Thoril, to Korvosa and learned about the contracted buyers and mainly the Dock Trade. This has been a wonderful experience for him to learn all parts of the work and Peye has done this for a decade or so.

Peye lost his father in a mine accident when young but now he has lost his mother. She was the one who taught him to heft the hammer. She was in Korvosa to repair something she had made. It was hard to be asked when Peye showed up with his uncle at the gates to follow the guards as they needed his help. Peye did not know why they would need that till he saw his mother. He was saddened and found out she was killed in an alley. Her ring she kept on a chain under her shirt was gone and the guards knew nothing about it. Peye searched through the merchants to see if anyone had heard anything. He did find it and a story. He could not buy it back at the moment but a man by the name of Gaedren Lamm had sold it to the merchant.

Peye wants to know why his mother was killed. Peye has a desire now to see what Torag has in store for him. He feels that to help become better he needs to expand his experiences than what he has at home. He has decided he wants to make some more connections to use to expand his work while looking for the family heirloom. He expects Torag is shaping him into a shape for a purpose. He hopes that it leads him to answers about his mother.

Remember everyone, the recruitment will close today and I will make my final decision on a party this weekend. With this many quality applications it will be a hard choice.

Somewhat makes me think of Guerrero from Human Target

Guerrero is scary
That was a cool scene (never seen that show), but Gaius is definitely not that smart, hehe. But the tone of his scariness was right on.

Guerrero doing interrogation

Sovereign Court

Just take off my Inquisitor please (Ash stormbound),I'll apply only with my rogue(Yorick). Sorry

I have never seen Human Target, but now I am going to. Haha, this thread sparked my curiosity about that show.

I posted some maps in the campaign description, Please let me know if everyone can get to them, as this will be my method for mapping.

I was able to see them.

I can see them.

Youtube or google accounts may be needed.

Silver Crusade

No issue at home, might be wonky at work, but can use my iPad if necessary.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

They work fine for me, boss.

Sovereign Court

Working fine for everyone I think!

I think I set them up to not require a log in.

Edit: Azure is this character your submission?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 4

Works for me, too.

I could access the maps after I logged into my youtube account.

Yes it's my sub-mission,
Finishing Backstory a bit later as well as double checking the math and expenses of equipment.

maps work fine for me

Silver Crusade

Yes, I can see the maps as well.

Maps work for me. Here's my background:

Background:
As Gaius raises his fist over the cowering wretch, his mind wanders to a time long past…

He remembers pinning the other child with one hand as he hit him with the other, the blood spattering his features. Even back then, at that awkward age, Gaius was handsome, a unique blend of his exotic parentage. The younger boy couldn’t put up much of a fight, but before another punch landed on the bruised and swelling face, a quiet but stern voice commanded him to stop. He half turned in annoyance, then quickly stood at attention when he saw Sister Rose, her yellow robes matching his own novice’s attire. She was short and slight, but her presence was menacing nonetheless.

What is the meaning of this? she asked with an edge to her voice.

Indignant, Gaius replied: He stole from me, three coppers, so I’m paying him back. One black eye per coin. He’ll have to owe me for the third. Would you keep me from my vengeance?

Quiet, your ignorance betrays your age, she snapped before extending a hand to the hurt boy, who flinched at first before accepting her help. Rose continued: You are Willem, the baker’s son, yes? Tell me, why would a baker’s son steal bread money? Tell me true, or I’ll know.

The child, utterly defeated, couldn’t meet the sister’s gaze as he responded. My father…he owed on a bad wager, so he borrowed some money. He paid the debt weeks ago, but still the men come. They…they’ve taken everything we have. I didn’t know what else to do.

Give me a name, child.

Silas…the man’s name is Silas, the child’s voice quavered as he spoke.

Willem, I expect Silas, or one of his associates, will be returning your money to you shortly. Go home, and remain there.

Gaius watched, thoroughly interested, as Rose put her arm around him and said softly. Gaius, you need not have all the answers, but at least know what are the right questions. Vengeance without cause is just cruelty in disguise, and I promise you The Unquenchable Fire frowns upon such. Come with me to this Silas, and I’ll show you what vengeance is.

Another whimper snapped Gaius back to the present.

Vengeance without cause, ask the right questions. Almost there…

Please, don’t kill me! I didn’t know my guys were supplying the drugs to ladies of the temple. I didn’t…

Give me a name, Gaius, blackjack in hand, interrupted his quarry. The beaten man craned his neck to look through swollen eyes at the inquisitor, speaking with a bloody ruin of a mouth.

Lamm…Ghaedrin Lamm…

I am able to view the maps.

Both maps work for me.

They are visible to me, and I know from other games I will be able to see them at work as well.

Work and home are both good for me. Double checked. Awesome.

Yup, I can see them. Looks good.
