Muchorak "Windstriker" |
Lol, gotta love a good cleric!
"It was a demon," the Shoanti says firmly, "Nothing more. Demons have many names, but the question is how did such a demon come here?"
Inikai |
Inikai gives Marak a shocked look and a gesture that conveys the message "not so loud!" as he rolls his eyes in the direction of the Hellkinights outside. He thought that Muchorak would be more likely to make a scene here. The presence of the Hellknights makes Inikai more uncomfortable than he expected it would. Perhaps it is his Shoanti blood rushing in his veins that makes him feel so.
Marak Quan, seventh level religious fanatic, er, cleric, at your service.
Esteriande d'Litran |
"Merci," Esteriande accepts the fare with gratitude.
"We can disagree as to ze name for ze creature, but what matters is what it was doing, where it came from, and 'oo sent it 'ere. I cannot 'elp but zink zat ze runes carved into ze victims must 'ave some dark purpose we know nothing of."
Muchorak "Windstriker" |
"I have no argument on the creatures name nore does it matter." Muchorak absently pets Ursus, "A demon is a demon, no matter the name. But we are at least agreed in the question of how it got here."
Inikai |
Inikai thanks the servants and host for their hospitality and beings to eat. The fare is exceptional and he is surprised at his appetite. Yet, he often uneasily looks about him. Certainly the servants will keep their ears sharp for anything we say in an unguarded moment.
How many people nearly gut a judge and get treated to a banquet by lord-mayor for it. Probably quite a lot, now that i think about it.
Romon |
Wellard:
... Paralictor Darean Halst and members off the squad who ironically were guarding the Magistrates house (after all they had nothing to do at the moment).
...
By 'Magistrate's house' do you mean Ironbriar's? If so Romon will excuse himself from the party on the way to the tower with the Hellknights and promise to meet them later where they stayed in the bazaar. Sometimes Romon's just a little prince.

Eventually the Mayors Major Domo arrives to escort into the presence of the great and good of Magnimar. He makes it perfectly clear that Lunas' and Ursus' attendance is not required at this meeting.
The Mayor is an enormously fat man whose obesity is compunded in his insistence on wearing the latest fashions from Cheliax no matter how unflattering.
He informs you that Ironbriars guilt is proven and commands the city treasurer to reward you each with 1500 gold pieces the standard reward for the capture of a traitor...then to your surprise he adds to that amount from his own pocket to the tune of 6000 gold each for saving his skin from the Cult of Norgrober.
He also informs you that Ironbriar does not know why the Lamia insisted on the victims being branded with the Sihedron rune and has tried in vain to place all the blame on the monster.
The Mayor also requests that you keep the matter out of the public domain..it would be bad for the city if the entire truth got out.As it is Justice Ironbriars sudden..disappearance will be an 8 days wonder.

Ali, entirely quiet throughout all the proceedings thus far, at first is very shy and cautious in the big, fancy house of the bad man. But then she begins eagerly looking at all the nice shiny things, so many things she had never seen before! She looks all around, as much as she is allowed, curious about everything.
Perception: +11, Takes a 20, +Scent and Smell evil.
Lunas meanwhile is at the table as well, sneakily taking snacks and tidbits from any of the party who are willing to feed him.
Esteriande d'Litran |
"Merci, Your Grace, you are most generous," Esteriande accepts the reward with grace. She is uncomfortable with the admonition that the public not know, but understands the need for maintaining order and respect.
That's 7500gp each, plus another 1500gp each from the loot Esteriande found in the Lamia's nest (9Kgp/6=1500gp), plus whatever the Lamia's weapons were worth divided by six. Not a bad day's work!
Inikai |
The thought of 9,000 gold coins has an unexpected effect on the young binder. It causes him to forget the presence of the Hellknights outside, the mayor's admonition to silence and the fact that unknown enemies still await them. For a moment it seems that Desna and Abadar have jointly blessed this group.
Inikai quietly gives his thanks to the lord-mayor and indicates his understanding of the need for silence. He is releived that Muchorak has not displayed any overt disdain for the surroundings. Now as long as Romon does not palm anything valuable...
Romon |
Wellard:
Romon doesn't eat or drink while at the mayor's. He remains alert and looks with interest at the furnishings, windows and doors. He keeps quiet and let's Esteriande do the talking. Sometimes diplomacy is about letting someone else talk.
He accepts his share with a grateful bow, perhaps a shade too low.
In the face of such plenty, it seems entirely too much trouble and ungrateful besides to adjust the distribution in his favor. Hard to find partners like these. Besides, he's got a new plan.
I've got no idea what to do about upgrades. A handy haversack would be a plus and much more stylish than a bag of holding. Can Marak manage one of those?

Sadly, no, it requires secret chest under the creation requirements, and Marak would need to read that off a scroll (since it's not a cleric spell) which would cost 1125 gp. to attempt to cut 1000 gp. off the cost...
TLDR? I would cost +125 gp more than buying a Haversack full-price to have a *chance* of Marak creating one. And the way I roll dice, he'd fail at least once!
The whimsy of using a 5th level spell to make a 2000 gp item, I suppose.
Go buy one off the rack. Or, I dunno, you're a thief, go steal one.
Just not mine!
Esteriande d'Litran |
Or you could create one without the spell at +5 to the DC of the Spellcraft check ... doable, especially at later levels. For a Handy Haversack, the Creator level is 9th, so the normal DC is 14 with the spell (9+5), a +5 to DC for no spell is DC19. It's normally a Spellcraft check, but can be another appropriate skill, especially if you are using the Master Craftsmen feat (which in this case you are not).
Romon |
Shortly after the party leaves the mayor's manse, Romon excuses himself to "go see a friend."
Wellard:
Romon will watch his back trail. He doesn't want to be followed. Romon will only tell her privately; news like this is less valuable if it's public knowledge. And he thinks it important that the mayor not know the party leaked the story.
He hopes the princess is appropriately grateful.
Income enhancement scheme #2. Mostly for RP. If you like, any cash Romon scores here can be RP'd away treating the party to the best of Magnimar.

Essentially we are finished with Chapter 2..just some equipment and monetary issues to be wound up..once that is done we shall leave the tender mercies of Mr Pett behind and move on the the hideousness that is Mr Logues Masterpiece..Thank you Richard for a most entertaining Scenario

Yes, that was pretty cool, but a little too easy for a team of our awesomeness. A little challange please next time? : D Hmm, that's odd, what are all those little red dots of light suddenly showing up all over me? Hmph? Oh, and so do we level? Huh? Do we, do we??
Alisebett |

er,
Hey Mr. Pett, in case you missed the post above, We're Awesome! lol. Oh I'm quite sure we're about to get our asses handed to us on a platter, but considering the twisted, diabolical and very potentially lethal adventure you so expertly crafted for us, I think we did pretty damn good.Looking forward to more magnificent mayhem come late 2012 or 2013
Dabbler |
I am surprised that the last words of Ironbriar were not "...and I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling adventurers!" Thank you, Mr Pett, for taking an interest though. We must be one of the less sane parties to attempt this adventure ...
Muchorak "Windstriker" |
Assuming that once we are done with the mayor we are going back to the bazaar queen?
As the party divides up their new found wealth; Muchorak gathers up Wolfspirits share as he understands her lack of knowledge in wealth in this world. He takes great pride in that she trusts him so and in truth would never do anything to hurt the spirit. Shortly after the dividing Muchorak approaches Wolfspirit and speaks in a lowered voice, “May I have your gloves Wolfspirit?” His face shows no vileness or trickery, “I must ask that you trust me in this.”
Assuming there is no issue there per conversation in the OOC thread.
With the gloves in hand, he secures them in his bag, and then seeks out Marak. “If you have the time would you do me the honor of crafting a belt that will bestow the strength of the bear and the stamina of the bull?” He then allows a smile, “And please tell no one of this. I have the need of something else as well but will need Romon’s assistance in navigating the market place.”
Muchorak then moves to find Romon, “These streets are your home, not mine,” the stoic shoanti admits, “Would you assist me in this market place?”
If Mr. Pett's watching...who else is watching...
Esteriande d'Litran |
Forgive me for ad-libbing here, Wellard.
Esteriande makes few delays in seeking out a craftsman for her own requirements.
"Good morning," she greets the hoary dwarf with a smile. "May ze blessings of Shellyn be up zis 'ouse. I am Esteriande d'Litran, of Shellyn church. Ze princess told me zat you were ze best worker and enchanter of mithral in ze city," she explains without preamble.
"Aye, I be Gollack Verambarsson, and it be true I am, though I don't get so many elfs wander into my forge as they please. Still, if the Princess sent ye, 'specially ones a-wrapped in the metal and carrying special-made blades of it, she must have good reason. Surely ye must have won a dwarfs favour to have such a fine weapon of it."
"Ze sword was my fazzers, zough 'e is no longer with us, a gift from a friend in Janderhoff. Indeed, it is one reason I am 'ere: It 'as served me well, but it could serve me better if ze blade could be made magically keener. Also, I need to increase ze en'ancements on my armour, for better protection. I am sure zese are wizzin your skill, if you are willing."
"Let me be sseing," the aged dwarf examines the gear closely, making passes with his hands and muttering soft incantations.
"Aye, no surprises there. I can do this, though it will cost ... for the Princess' recomendation, I can make it for ... eight thousand one hundred gold crowns. Half up front."
"Gold is ze honour to ze craftsman of skill, I am sure it will be worth every coin and more," Esteriande sets a heavy purse on the counter next top her equipment.
"Be back in two weeks, it will be ready then. A pleasure doing business with you, my good wife will be glad of the blessing."

When Big Bear asks for her gloves, Ali immediately begins taking them off and hands them over with a smile, no question at all, pure, simple trust shining in her eyes.
