Young man's got to have dreams.

Khaladon, you're right about Pass without Trace, it's not even close. There ought to be something.

Diminish Plants and Repel Wood are the ones I'm thinking of...they're a bit high level for Ali right now though.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Hey Thanks Count B!

Ya, Diminish Growth would be perfect...Alas...

One Day.

I'm not sure I'm getting the effectiveness of Repel Wood though. Maybe I'm not being imaginative enough but it sure seems pretty sucky for a 6th level spell.

But I guess Pathfinder really has included a bunch of New spells...I'm going to have to go over the list again but more carefully this time

Khaladon wrote:

Actually I'm pretty sure both of those spells came right out of the SRD with no changes at all.

And yeah...repel wood seems like a spell that would really only work in a very narrow set of circumstances (or a lot of creativity) especially for a 6th lvl spell. Against plant enemies? Golden. Other than that it's pretty much a utility spell for getting enemies' wooden weapons (or weapons with wooden parts) away from you...or if they're wearing wooden armor?

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Oh ya you're right. I guess I just didn't look closely at higher level spells as Ali can't cast them yet anyway.

But on another subject, I'm just curious now...by a show of hands, how many people are following Wellard's RotRL game??

<raises hand>

Me obviously...but then just because they're reading the campaign doesn't mean they're gonna read here...I only just recently poked my head in - most probably just read the other thread.

In fact, a player in a PbP that I run on another site (RPOL.net) liked your wild druid concept so much that he's pretty much copied it and has been running a male version of Ali for months. I've forbidden him from reading this though because we just recently started our own RotRL campaign - though if we're able to pass you guys up Wellard's game will become required reading ;)

...and...when I found out I was gonna be playing in a PbP with Valkyrie, I got butterflies in my stomach like I was gonna meet someone famous. I feel like such a nerdy fanboy.

Are you saying that Valkyrie is not famous? I am just glad that someone is enjoying our runelords romp.

Wellard:
Did we learn anything about the room with the floating objects? Inikai would be focused on this.

Cue the ego-exploding drama queen self-destruct sequence! ;)

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

hahaha Very Cool! Glad someone is enjoying the Wild Druid (Seeing Pathfinder or WotC make it official though would be...awesome : )

And Val! Take your kudos! You Deserve them girl for your always stunning gameplay.

Thanks Again Count B : )

(Now I'll go try and check out Your game(s) -But don't worry Wellard, I have no desire to read ahead if they should pass us, just want to check out how someone else runs a Wild Druid)

No worry about that. My RotRL game is local tabletop, but one of the players in it is also the one I was referencing from my RPOL.net game. You're welcome to read it though if you're interested - it's Hollow's Last Hope, and I plan on taking it through Revenge of the Kobald King and such fun-ness.

If we are going after a goblin stronghold, how are we set for healing? A nice wand or two of cure lights would be good. I'm willing to part with the cash, but someone will have to talk Romon into it.

Marak will hold up a half-full Wand of Cure Light Wounds, "Got it covered. Donations are always welcome, 'though!"

He's also got five 2d6 Channel Energy uses per day that heal everyone in 30 ft, and can turn any of his 3 1st level spells or 2 2nd level spells per day into Cures spontaneously, so he's pretty stocked on healing.

He definitely will buy a Healing Belt, 'though, if no one else does. He plans on casting Shield Other on Muchorak, and the belt will be a nice way to top himself off as he absorbs damage.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Welcome back Set : ) And Thanks for volunteering to be Treasure Hoard Tabulator! (I'm doing it in two or three games so I'm happy to have someone else do so ;-)

Also, Ali will be helping out with some back-up healing here and there too...more so as she gains in levels

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Cool, Set, though I don't want to saddle Marak with all the expense of healing magic, Romon does. I can't talk sense into him. Although if Marak needs money Romon can be a soft touch. Actually the poor boy is almost frantic to unload this much cash. A pile of cash sitting around makes you a mark.

Sounds like with your resources and Ali, we'll sitting pretty. I just want to make sure the healing responsibilities aren't cutting into your fun.

How do you guys want to handle the swag split? Here or IC? I've got my eye on the boots and returning dagger, but if anyone else fancies them speak up and no hard feelings.

Romon will want to hang out a few days so we can visit the travelling market. And he'd still like to shop with the girls. They need clothes, he needs clothes, and he knows all the latest Magnimar fashions.

One of the meta-reasons to wait for the market is to let me give Romon a good reason to go to Thistletop. Camping and a siege are not his idea of a good time. But if he sees someone who knows him from Magnimar, he might think it expedient to get out of town for a few days.

Also, Wellard, can Romon get these in Sandpoint or at the travelling market?

1 continual flame on a stick (1" diameter hardwood, 12" long)
20 MW arrows
ways to upgrade his MW leather armour (enhancement bonuses to AC)

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

I also had my eye on the boots for Ali and I know she'd get a kick out of the haversack (even though she doesn't really have anything to put in it) but She, not really knowing or caring of these things would hardly notice at all if someone else wanted them.

Shopping would be fun IC, but if anyone's in a hurry to get the Thistletop quest going maybe we could do it in a breakaway thread or something?

Makes more sense to deal with the swag in OOC methinks...

Breakaway makes sense to me. Or it can wait til after Thistletop. I'm easy.

Breakaway sounds fine to me too as long as it's doable for Wellard.

We've got a thread for it already, actually. ;)

About the healing, Kallie can offer just a little bit from her own talents, but it's only going to work for her and Muchorak. And only once per day...

Kallie doesn't need any more loot considering what came out of the floaty room. Actually, if anyone needs any of that, she's more than willing to hand it over. She wipes her hands every time she touches them....

The only things I can see being useful for Inikai are the handaxe and maybe the silver dagger. But there really are of no great interest so if anyone else wants them that is fine. I think he will buy a few potions when the Magnimarians (Magnimarites?) come to town. I am willing to pool money to buy another healing belt for someone if another is available, though.

Osirion

Some dude

Of the recovered items, Marak is most interested in the Haversack.

At some point, he'd like to purchase a mithral chain shirt and a darkwood shield, to replace his current chain shirt and heavy wooden shield with lighter stuff, so that he can have a nice normal 30 ft. move again. :)

That leaves the Ranseur, +1 Longsword, and Incense. I'm guessing Muchorak will be for the longsword.

Well Marak is the obvious choice for the Incense (though it might not come into play in this part of the adventure) and Muchorak had the +1 Longsword on his wish list.

As for the Ranseur..it's an awkward weapon with fairly low damage. You could sell it at the Market but it might raise more coin if you sell it in Magnimar itself.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Romon's not confused about the floating room. He knows it will make a great place to play once all the maggots are gone.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Ok, that's it, it's Offical. It's been building for some time now but as of the "Just for a second" comment I am now Officially in Romon (as the Character he is, that is ;-)

Thanks for the constant laughs and smiles Thom. Oh, and thanks for the boots!

Osirion

Any chance the Magnimarian merchants would have mithral shirt (1100 gp) and / or a darkwood shield (257 gp) for sale? Marak is looking to trade up out of his old heavy chain shirt (100 gp) and heavy wooden shield (7 gp). He's got 1183 gp on hand, and depending on what sort of return he can get on trading in / selling down the old stuff, he may be able to afford both items (or at least the mithral shirt, in any event). Later he'd want to pay to get them enchanted to +1, and having gear that's already masterwork would be a good step towards making that procedure a little more painless.

He'd also be interested in selling the incense of meditation (4900 gp!) and splitting up the proceeds among the party. It's the kind of item that he would never use, as he's a cleric and doesn't have a whole lot of spells that would hugely benefit from maximization (ooh, max damage on my 1d8 Sound Burst!) and certainly not enough of them that it would be remotely sane to spend almost 5000 gp prepping for a single day's activity! Worse yet, it only affects *prepared* spells, so his spontaneous cure spells wouldn't be affected!

Taldor

Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant

No Mithral Shirt but there is a Darkwood Shield...you would only get 2450 GP for the Incense(remember 1/2 price on sales) and probably not even that in the travelling Market(maybe 1250 max)....another item to sell in Magnimar and another reason to take Tsuto there...off course you might want to see if you can capture his girlfiend(not a misprint lol) as well

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

ooops!! Ah, that was Supposed to read "...In Love with Romon..." and, ah, purely in a plutonic and appreciation for his comedic wit and rogue ways of course...ahem. How about 'dem bears!

Anyway, I'm sure he and Zalen (one of my other characters in another PbP) would get along famously. And cause a Lot of trouble! If Romon ever makes his way to Korvosa he should be sure to look him up ;-)

Sorry, didn't realize we switched this to the OOC thread, should've figured, heads been foggy...selling car and all that.

Well for my cents...Yes Muchorak would like the Sword, as well as the Hand Axe and Haversack...but I won't be too greedy, ;)

Now the immediate list above is that what is available in town at the market for purchase??

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Well, so looks like the Loot List ends up like this:

Masterwork Ranseur (To Sell in Magnimar)
+1 Longsword (Muchorak)
Masterwork Handaxe (Inikai)
Silver Dagger (Inikai)
+1 returning Dagger (Romon)
Incense of Meditation (To Sell in Magnimar)
Boots of Elven Kind (Ali)
Hewards Handy Haversack (Marak)
scrolls of Burning Hands(CL3) and Flaming Sphere(CL5) (and wand??) (Kallie)

That sound about right and agreeable to all?

Andoran

Works for me.

Yep!

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Seems fair.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Guys, I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to write my latest IC post. I have been dreaming about it since the idea of shopping with the girls came up. I know it's kind of slowed the game down for a couple days (we could probably be elbow deep in goblin guts by now), but I really really wanted to write that. I hope it reads as well as I -- well -- hope.

I hope Khaladon and Valkyrie in particular don't mind the character-jack. I guess Ali and Kallie could walk out at any time, but I'm hoping Romon's enthusiastic charm (and maybe personal vanity) keep them there. Wellard, Rynshinn can just bill Romon, today price is no object. (Although I've already said I'm buying silversheen on Fireday so you've got to leave me at least that much.) Please note he didn't have jewels or gold thread worked into the gowns, although if the price was right he might go for it.

Hahaha! Nice!

Kallie's probably going to sidestep a little bit of it, but she's still going to have to get her measurements taken. She's been waiting for this moment for a while. ;)

I was going to have some drawings of her orders ready, but life got busy. Descriptions will have to do for now...

Andoran

I will take care of Muchorak's shopping this evening when I get home, don't have beta with me at the moment.

Black Witch Of Sandpoint Fashion Design? Nice. You put my effort to shame.

Too bad Ali, didn't like Romon's fashion. We could have had a Mini-me sort of thing going with her and Kallie.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Khaladon, I have this great picture of Romon reaching in to tighten up some laces on Ali's dress and having to snatch his fingers back when she snaps. Nice post.

Taldor

Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant

That's what I love about this game...I hand you a situation and step back to watch the ensuing fun. Romon cracks me up a lot...he reminds me of a couple of my own characters.Mind you Andrea would have eaten him for breakfast..not to mention lunch dinner supper and a midnight snack

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

@ Romon- lol, ya, now That would have been an amusing sight! Seeing Kallie and her mini-Gnome version tottering around in so-tight-can't-breathe bustier type dresses and heels....

But really Romon, I like the idea just fine! I [i[tried[/i] to convince Ali that it was all the new fashion but she almost scratched my eyes out and didn't talk to me for hours. There's also a suspicious new dark spot on the carpet I'm afraid to investigate further...

@Wellard-Hey, that's right! How is 'ole Andrea? Too bad her and Gal never had a chance to get to know each other better. What's she up to these days anyway?

Yeah, this trip has been good fun. :)

And sorry Romon. Kallie doesn't have a high enough Fort save to do corsets. ;)

This mini-me idea has some possibilities...

Spoiler:
For a while, I was thinking about taking Leadership later down the line, not for the followers, but mainly just to have either cheerful, black-robed, tiny scythe-weilding pixie sidekick or a hammy, hunchbacked, former-actor butler-ish guy who genuinely enjoyed playing up his "Igor" role.

Then I remembered a friend of mine's horror stories about a chain reaction in one of his games where everyone took leadership at once. I thought it might be best to put that idea aside then. :)

I think I actually read a little bit of the Piren's Bluff adventure Andrea is in. I need to catch up!

And Wellard, I am really thankful Rynshinn called me out on the heels. ;P

Holy wilderness spirituality, Batman!

Just read the Muchorak and Ali posts. Top notch stuff. That was a brilliant idea Azoun.

Great stuff all, it's fun to see everyone getting into this (and seems to be staving off the summer doldrums that appear to be afflicting other PbPs at the moment, some of which I fear will get archived if they don't start moving soon!).
