"I still do not trust that creature!", Runa whispers to Ulf while they get ready to confront the Oni.
"I fear she will turn on us once the Oni has been dealt with. Keep one eye on her, as I will be watching for any sign of treachery!"


Still working on the map..there's a lot of angles involved..and with Paizo not wanting me to just cut and paste from the books building it on Dungeonographer is a bit of a pain

With so little information, Asha murmurs a prayer and focuses her thoughts on what an "oni" maybe, hoping for some insight into it's weaknesses.

Casting know the enemy for +10 to a knowledge check. I am guess that it's knowledge (nature) that will identify an oni as they are former nature spirits...if not Asha has knowledge of arcana, dungeoneering, planes, and religion as well...

Úlf gives a slight nod to Runa. Despite getting no bad feelings from her earlier, she is still a harpy, after all, and he has no intention of fully trusting her.

It is a trap! A cunning ploy by our resident Scot to have us stand there. Like an X. DDDooonnnttt trust it! Or it could mean harpy...

I like the idea of some of us in the stable, some of us in the gatehouse and we meet in the "middle" or wherever the dame things shows up. I would opt for higher ground but I didn't get my s!@* together on my character design until it was too late and now I am two feats down before I can support the group the way I want to. (Precise Shot being the issue)


It's knowledge planes as they are Outsiders. H is for Harpy

From what she can garner from the Harpy and the descriptions given by the others Asha determines that this is a Yama Bushi Tengu Oni. Descended from Corrupted Tengu they are not overly protected in close combat though they do have a minor regenerative power.They are also able to produce a number of Magical effects such as Scorching Rays and Hideous Laughter..along with Dimension Door..They are also able to see the Invisible and are fairly resistant to spells

Runa will setup just inside the stables, reading her crossbow and any hexes she thinks might work. She is pretty low on spells, but does have 1 heal spell and a hold person, which may or may not work against the oni (Spellcraft check to find out?? 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25)

Zal will set up with the witch. Pulling his bow and putting aside his other gear other than his longsword.

"Desna's wisdom is deep, our foe is a creature called a Yama Bushi Tengu Oni. They are not stromng in battle, but have many spells and mystic powers, can see the unseen, and they heal quickly. I think we must try and rush the creature and flank it, and keep it pressed in combat. I'll hide around the angle there in 06.04 and prepare myself. When we get the signal we rush in and get close. Zal, Ulf, if you take up positions around the courtyard...Runa, can you counter spells? or be ready to disrupt it's attempts to use it's magic powers?"

Omara slips away from you obviously intent on finding her own place of advantage.

As evening shadows fall the Harpy hovers just above the ground wings beating lazily.. until the figure of Kikonu leaves the main keep and comes toward her..He isn't being wary at all obviously believing you have withdrawn from the Castle again.

Your 'ally' maintains her silence off course,until Kikonu speaks in a melodious female voice. At that point She flaps upwards drawing her bow and seems to be surrounded by a chaotic swirl of multi-coloured hues.

Kikonu is momentarily stunned by the Harpy's actions.

You have a surprise Round..one action apiece.

AS a swift action Zal declares a judgment on the Oni. Justice. +1 sacred bonus to attacks.

As a standard action Zal casts Wrath. +1 moral on attacks, damage and SR penetration.

Oh yeah... It doesn't one of many reasons some folks think it is broken. From the hex: "This hex can affect a creature of any HD. The creature will not wake due to noise or light, but others can rouse it with a standard action. This hex ends immediately if the creature takes damage. Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day." personally think the hex is strong but not game breaking but it can totally shift a fight like this if the creature fails the save...at which point we want Ulf to CDG the oni.

Prior to combat (it's not like we didn't have time to prepare, and I stated she would prepare herself): Asha will cast shield of faith on herself (+2 AC), and magic weapon on her sword, and unlimber her shield.

Asha rushes into the attack Charge a full move to 07.10, calling judgement of Desna down on the oni judgement of justice for +1 to hit.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

That being the case, I'll wait to post my action until we hear the results of the oni's save.


My bad..however Hexes still have to get past spell resistance as far as I know.

Runa Caster check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 so the result stands.

Asha rushes out and her blade carves a bloody line on the still bemused Eastern Demon.

Omara moves round the corner of the great halls entrance and heads for Kikono's rear.

Úlf follows Asha's example, bellowing out a loud battle-cry as he barrels out from behind the slightly ajar door he had been hiding behind!

When he reaches the side of the demon, he brings his axe down in a hard swing, hoping to still catch the thing off-guard enough for it to be advantageous.

If I can't charge to that square, Úlf will just take a double-move to get to the same square and Fight Defensively.


Well by RAW Charging is a full round action..but I'll allow by DM Fiat as the Oni seems to be totally caught of guard.

Ulf's axe slices into the Demonic Bird-man and he cries out in pain.

Actually, you can make a 'partial charge' as a standard action, treated as a charge but moving only a single move.

Asha presses her attack, using her skill to strike the vulnerable parts of the distracted oni solo tactics and precise strike, as we are flanking him.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 + 1d6 ⇒ 4


Asha's attack garves another line of blood on the Tengu Demon's form and he falters as Omara runs up to the fight rapier drawn

Crit confirm 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 confirmed

The thrust goes in under the Oni's head armour and comes out off his mouth he sags and falls to the ground as the Rogue withdraws her blade.

"Quick burn him so he cannot regenerate " Omara urges you all.

"I've got nothing to burn him with," Asha replies. "Ulf, take his head off - he won't regenerate from that easily."


The Harpy watches from above as you dispose off Kinoku.Full round CdG from Ulf and the Oni was unable to regenerate this round anyway

"oh my Dears" she says..her voice restored with the death of the Oni "how can I ever repay you" She flaps higher above you as she draws another arrow "Oh I know I can relieve you of your sorrowful lives"

Not out off Initiative.

The harpy sends two arrows flying at Ulf which do not burst into flames

Úlf drops his axe with a clatter to the ground and makes a grab for the bow laying nearby where Kinoku dropped it.

Will I still have a standard action left to shoot the bow? Since I'm adjacent to Kinoku's square it should only be a move action to pick up the weapon, right?

Drop axe - free action. Grab weapon, well retrieving a stored item is a move action, so I think grabbing a weapon off the floor would be. So you should have a standard action remaining to shoot.

Runa's spell fails to take hold then three arrows fly out of seemingly nowhere towards the Harpy.
