I think this is a fairly common house type rule that shows up. I have played with groups that did this too. I feel like we knew it was not quite what the book said but I am probably wrong about that part. Nonetheless I have played it both ways. I like each system in their own right when I get more damage ;-)
Ha! Yeah...I was once in a game with a gaxe-wielding barbarian frenzied berserker who had a lucky gold-colored die that I swear, threatened every fourth or fifth roll. It was awe-inspiring to see him wade through bad guys with hundreds of hit points.

Criticals and perception rolls are things I initially leave up to the GM. Every GM is different and has their own interpretation and/or house rule on how to handle them.
I tend to stick to RAW in most cases..I will make rolls for you in cases where you might miss something if you fail..ie perception but i tend to make them off screen so as not to leave clues as to whether you actually had to make a check
Hey, all! I'd just like to say that I haven't cut out on you; I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen! I'll check back in a bit, and post something roleplay-oriented if nothing's moved forward. :)

I imagine even without interruption it's a pain to interpret/transcribe maps from a book. It's too bad there isn't a more thorough system to upload or reference the APs own images here on Paizo's site but we are on here playing for free so on the other hand, I beleve the phrase is "beggars can't be choosers" ; )
For clarity I only made my comment because I found the image of the party stuck in the camp still as stone (like the holodeck from Star Trek: TNG) kinda silly. I certainly wasn't trying to be pushy or impatient, just to be clear.
Oh it wasnt you guys interrupting me..my wife insists on talking to me about soccer..which I have little interest in whilst I was trying to do the map and she caused me to muck it up 5 times..the new map is up

Wow we have quite the wrecking crew point guard I just realized. Giant barbarian and flaming eidolon entry FTW. Hopefully whatever is on the other side of the door will be properly cowed :-p
Yes, an Ulfen warrior and an eidolon-infused creature are pretty alarming for goblins. Hopefully, they'll flee; either they'll provoke attacks of opportunity or get picked off by us more ranged-focused combatants! :)
Also, I was just curious about the die-rolling aspect of our or any PbP. Several people have rolled criticals so far and I'm curious as to how the random nature of the die-rolling takes that into account. Like...if I were to roll a threat in an initial preview, then roll the confirmation, would the threat stay the same? What about if I submitted the post, then editted it to put in a threat confirm? Would the original die roll stay the same?
I suppose I'm just curious to know if anyone else knows how the die-rolling system prevents mishaps or other unintended consequences.
Tavlor the problem with detect magic is that it doesnt work through walls..and there's a lot of walls here. You certainly have not found anything that gives off an aura so far.
the dice roller is awkward sometimes..it assigns rolls in the order of the roll as written so if you go in edit a post and add a roll between two that you already made then it moves the result for the second original roll to the new second roll and makes a new roll for that original roll as if it were the third roll..which has caused me some confusion in the past.
What happens in a situation like I was describing in my post? If you make an attack roll that is a threat and edit the post to make a confirm, does it move the initial threat to the confirmation and re-roll the first one? It seems like it could lead to some confusion if that is the case.
"The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it."
It's at the very end. The only line of sight you need is if you are trying to identify spells or properties specifically. I always thought it was kind of a useless spell anyway, but the fact that barriers CAN block it makes it completely useless in almost all cases...

Sorry to inform you Wellard, but I was informed today that I have been voluntold that I shall again be doing the 24 training lane from Monday through the 22nd. Sorry for the constant inconvenience.

if you make a roll..then go in and edit and add a second roll thats ok
but if for instance you made two attack rolls then saw the first was a crit..you couldnt insert the confirmation between the two attacks.
2 attack rolls look like this
Attack 1 =x
Attack 2 =y
2 attacks with a confirmatiion rolled after them look this this
Attack 1 =x
Attack 2 =y
Confirmation=z
But if you edited the post and put the confirm after the first attack the it would read
Attack 1 =x
Confirm =y
attack 2=z
there fore I would prefer that confirmations dcome after all attacks..
your damage wont be affected because the rolls are only held for dice rolls of the same type of dice.
I was using CC3 and Dungeon Designer..but now I'm using Dungeongrapher from Inkwell Ideas..and, for over land maps, Hexographer from the same source.I find the latter two to be much more user friendly. Theres a bunch of other useful tools there too

Just a reminder, I start rotation tomorrow. Should be back at a comp on the 22nd. Hopefully this will be the last time in a while they nab me for a 24 hour lane without telling me well beforehand.
Thats officially a CR6 encounter guys but I think you be able should hold your own. They can't all fight you at once and that crit on Cinder was a fluke.
I hope that Úlf can continue to hit as well as he has been for the duration of the fight. I assume that the goblins will go down even on a minimum-damage roll of 7 since they're just goblins, but my odds of hitting seem like they'll wind up being somewhere in the 50/50-60/40 range, so let's hope I keep rolling high on the attacks!
At least I managed to take down two more of them this turn. Five left in this area! Not to mention that with Omara at my back, no flanking for the goblins. Woo!
Also, note to self: Level 2: Power Attack; Level 3: Cleave.
Completely off-topic: I've started recruiting for a Kingmaker PbP if any of you guys are interested; this will not affect my posting for this game! Just thought I'd throw that out there! :)
