Female Human (Varisian/Shoanti) Summoner (Synthesist) 3
Wellard, a thought. Summoners' eidolons share their alignment, which in Lissa's case would make Cinder Neutral Good. However, the more I play the two, Cinder doesn't feel to me like it thinks the same way Lissa does about things. Being an outsider, it makes sense to me that it would have a more alien thought pattern than a native creature. Therefore, what would you think of me giving Cinder a different alignment than Lissa? In this case, I feel him being mostly Neutral.

Pretty sure I am going to take Combat Expertise...because then I can next take Butterfly's Sting and transfer my critical hits to other people...which seems freaking awesome as a support fighter...or do I go for selective channel to help us in hot spot situations? Healing seems to be going okay with two of us running around, not sure mid combat healing via channel is a big focuse for this group...what do you guys think?
I usually don't plan my characters out in advance. I prefer to watch them grow, instead. Omara is now a prime example. I had originally intended for her to multi-class into bard for a few levels. I allocated ability scores and skill points with that in mind. I still like the idea of Inspire Whatever, however, I can no longer envision her casting spells. She has become a martial character in my mind.
With that in mind, I am thinking about a couple of options. One is dipping into fighter for a few levels. The other is sticking with rogue until she becomes eligible for the Duelist PrC. Right now, I'm leaning toward the latter. I have always envisioned her using two weapons, and that has not changed. She'll pick up Two Weapon Fighting either this level or next. I am also toying with the idea of Exotic Weapon Prof with the wakizashi, but that would come later.

Wellard, i realize I errored in feat selection, can i trade judgment surge for point blank shot? Given The group make up I doubt melee is my best option and I need to get precise shot ASAP.
Wellard has expressed interest as well, so that's three right there. Almost good to go. I don't have the AP just as yet, but it should be arriving by the end of the week. So that gives me a little time to find one more person. I'll go ahead and make a thread and see where it goes from there.

I haven't quite decided how I feel about Shattered Star. Still thinking about it. My primary fear is that if I do take on another PbP, I won't be able to take on a second one beyond that and I really want to play in Winter is Coming when it comes out in six months.
Of course, I'm probably just being paranoid. It's not like three PbPs monopolize that much of my time.

:P Always an option, I suppose. Really, I suppose the Varisian setting would make the character concept I had in mind that I wanted to play next a lot easier...
My next concept that I was really into the idea of was a clouded vision oracle (seer) with the time mystery that would eventually prestige into Harrower. Once I'd seen all those choices, the old literary device of the blind fortune teller came to mind and I was head-over-heels. And Harrowing does tend to be a Varisian tradition.
Certainly not an "optimal" build, but the flavor...the flavor..

Uh yeah...that screams Varisia...so I think you have no choice. Hell, I am so excited by your idea that I want to build a complimentary character like a sibling or fellow caravan member who joined the PAthfinders with this Oracle. What about that? Jooiinn uusss JJooiinn uusss
Y'know, on second thought, maybe I will jump into Shattered Star with that Oracle build. Is anyone in the group going to be getting Paths of Prestige before the PDF releases on the 16th? I'm starting to think I might like to play something leading into Mammoth Rider in Winter is Coming and use the Harrower here in Shattered Star.

Yeah I am waiting for the pdf personlly, I posted a note in the OOC seeing if Hector thought we might retcon in content from that book if we get started before then.
I have the Paths of Prestige PDF..it pays to subscribe..A certain young lady pirate is very happy with the Aldori Sword lord PRC and will definitely grab a level or two in it once she has achieved her ranger levels and qualified for the class..why?..because the first level ability lets you add your dex mod to damage..YAYYYYY.
For reference, the Pathfinder SRD keeps pretty up to date on new release info if you really want a PrC without having to sink the money into it for a single character. I know this because that's where I first noticed the Aldori Sword Lord, and I too was rather impressed.
To qualify to become a mammoth rider, a character must
fulfill all the following criteria.
Base Attack Bonus: +6.
Skills: Handle Animal 9 ranks, Ride 9 ranks, Survival
5 ranks.
Special: Animal companion class feature with an
effective druid level of 6th or mount class feature that
progresses as an animal companion with an effective
druid level of 6th.
Steed (Ex): A mammoth rider can choose from among
the following animal companions to serve as her loyal
steed: arsinoitherium, aurochs, baluchitherium,
camel, cat (big), elk, horse, mastodon, megaloceros,
rhinoceros, triceratops, wolf, or woolly mammoth (use stats
for a mastodon)
A GM might expand this list to include
other possible steeds. This steed functions as a druid’s
animal companion, replacing any animal companion or
mount gained from another class. The mammoth rider’s
class levels stack with other classes that grant an animal
companion to determine her effective druid level
Oh Man Shades of RuneQuest..Rhino Riders FTW..but the 9 rank requirements means it's a mid to late game PRC whilst you can enter most off th others at 5th also the effective druid level really restricts you as a Ranger..but cavaliers can ride them..lol
Sounds entirely fun. Since as a Ranger your effective level is 3 below your actual, a 9th level ranger would actually be at the perfect level for meeting those requirements. It's true that it's a relatively late game PrC, but I think it'd still be pretty awesome to go galumphing around on the back of a freakin' wooly mammoth/triceratops/rhinoceros.
Apologies, everyone. We had a light rain that was apparently just enough to knock out my internet for few days. I'll get my action posted as soon as I get off work this evening.
I'm off to Gen Con! I"ll be back on Sunday. I'll try to check in once or twice, but if I don't then feel free to take actions for me. Omara will attack one of the creatures, if there is one still alive when she gets there.
Very cool, Nirthuus! That's a really good drawing. I'm very impressed. I've never thought about getting a character drawn on commission like that. Out of curiousity, how much did it cost?
Also Nirthuus, are you still joining us for the Shattered Star game? We're still in the initial stages of the game, so you haven't missed anything!
Also, just bought the PDF of Paths of Prestige. Man, I am REALLY wanting to play a Mammoth Rider from the Realms of the Mammoth Lords in a Winter is Coming game.

I've been considering doing a group portrait of the party. I'll get a basic sketch up, and you guys can let me know what you think. Maybe I'll draw a god-like grumpy-looking scottish dwarf somewhere in there too... can't forget our GM!
Hey guys. I'm considering getting back into PbP, but I'm not sure if I will be able to devote the time I'd like too, but I'm also not sure how that meshes with the time everyone here puts in :).
Anyway, I was wondering how the campaign is going and if you guys have any interest in Tavlor coming back at some point :).
Sheesh, my campaign page has just quit updating a lot of my things on me. I'd be happy to welcome you back in for one, Tavlor! Hope you can find the time to rejoin us!
The enthusiastic welcomes are wonderful :). I'm going to hold off for a bit for now. I was really bored a couple of weeks ago, and now things seem totally crazy! I'll check back more frequently, and try to catch up on the narrative. If I can do that relatively soon, I might have the time.
