The party sets off through the bowels of the Shadow Claw's ziggurat to the lower levels. As you travel through the halls you can hear further sounds of conflict, but cannot make out any speech as of yet. It takes a couple of minutes for those restricted by solid matter to make through the stairs and paths to close by. You get to a final staircase down and it sounds as though there is a battle underway below you. The sizzle of spells, roar of unholy beasts and clash of metal upon metal and stone waft upwards.

Ignac:
You feel a longing from your weapon, urging you to charge down the stairs.

Straight on down or some kind of prep first?

It won't let me add to my previous post for some reason

Hearing the sounds of combat I set down my book and step into the hall, seeing others entering the hall as well I throw a Spock like raise of my eyebrow at everyone and then turn toward the sound of combat to investigate.

Once we reach just above the combat I state, "I know not how the rest of you wish to enter combat but I am going to observe and then place myself in an advantageous position."

With that I shimmer and then disappear ring of invisibility and then stealthily make my way down the stairs.

Stealth 1d20 + 26 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 26 + 10 = 50 I think +10 is the modifier for moving while invisible, if not I will fix it later.

DESCRIPTION

The transmuted creatures move and act more quickly than normal. This extra speed has several effects.

When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)

A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.

All of the hasted creature's modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject's normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for increased speed. Multiple haste effects don't stack. Haste dispels and counters slow.


After casting, he will draw his blade and advance slowly and quietly towards the sounds.

Vesta:
Descending via a direct route you arrive at the place of disturbance quicker than the others. In the bowels of the Shadow Claw's structure is a large open room that you'd gauge would likely be used for soldier drill or the like away from prying eyes... however the sight you see is not what you would expect.

Instead of skeletal soldiers in formation, one corner of the room holds a throbbing red and swirling portal. A small robed figure stands before it eyes open in concentration as though it were focused on keeping it open. The view through the portal is of a hellish landscape... though it is also clear that the pathway has been open for some time as it has been walked already.

In the chamber, already in the ascendancy over their foes is a force of daemons. They range from sorcerous to combat focused, but they are pushing the undead across from them back - destroying them for some loss on their side.

Since Vesta would have zipped through quick and had a bit of time before the rest arrive, she has a chance for a couple of pre-actions

So a daemonic force is coming through the portal attacking the shadow claws forces and one guy is holding said portal open. Does this look like a drill? Is does the guy holding open the portal look like he's with shadow claw or the Daemons?

You'd state with absolute certainty that this is not a common occurrence. With inference you'd guess that this is almost certainly an attack.

Vesta surveys the room, but does not ken much more. There are two main types of daemon, one robed and formed with many tentacles; while the second is grey skinned and humanoid - arms ending in jagged claws. The creature that seems to be opening the portal you cannot see without moving closer.

The forces of the Shadow Claw are keeping them contained for the moment... but for how much longer?

The figure is wreathed in shadow and black smoke, and you cannot make out anything of it's features. It is focused upon the portal... however not all of the other creatures are.

One of the robed and tentacled creatures spies you...

I'll assume this plays out just as the others crest the stairs and come below.

As the party descends the stairs and turns to face the chamber they are greeted with a scene of chaos and destruction. At the foot of the stairs lies a large open room that you'd gauge would likely be used for soldier drill or the like away from prying eyes... however the sight you see is not what you would expect.

I will be doing a map up for this, but haven't the time right now. Rough framing - the front line of the daemons is roughly 50ft from where you are on the stairs, the robed ones roughly 70ft and the portal about 100ft.
Vesta is currently just behind the line of robed daemons and floating high (ceiling is about 30ft up in this chamber).
There are more than enough to go around, and charge lanes are open.

Vesta grins wickedly, her smile unhumanely wide, and drops a spiked pit under the creature concentrating to hold the portal open.

This spell functions as create pit, except that the pit is lined with wickedly sharp spikes along its bottom and walls and has a maximum depth of 50 feet. Creatures who fall into the pit take falling damage as normal, plus 2d6 points of piercing damage from the spikes. Any creature or object coming into contact with the spikes along the walls, such as a creature trying to climb out, or rope or other typical aids to climbing, takes 1d6 points of piercing damage each round they are in contact with the walls. For those willing to accept the damage incurred while climbing, the pit's walls have a Climb DC of 20.

Damn, I just realized I technically didn't bring out my shield. Oh well.

Ignac follows behind Gathroc, taking a stab at whatever creature he is targeting, or another if Gathroc downs one. He will charge, if Gathroc does so.

When it comes to his turn, Grigore will cast Black Tentacles on the group of daemons, affecting as many of the clawed daemons as possible.

This spell causes a field of rubbery black tentacles to appear, burrowing up from the floor and reaching for any creature in the area.

Every creature within the area of the spell is the target of a combat maneuver check made to grapple each round at the beginning of your turn, including the round that black tentacles is cast. Creatures that enter the area of effect are also automatically attacked. The tentacles do not provoke attacks of opportunity. When determining the tentacles' CMB, the tentacles use your caster level as their base attack bonus and receive a +4 bonus due to their Strength and a +1 size bonus. Roll only once for the entire spell effect each round and apply the result to all creatures in the area of effect.

If the tentacles succeed in grappling a foe, that foe takes 1d6+4 points of damage and gains the grappled condition. Grappled opponents cannot move without first breaking the grapple. All other movement is prohibited unless the creature breaks the grapple first. The black tentacles spell receives a +5 bonus on grapple checks made against opponents it is already grappling, but cannot move foes or pin foes. Each round that black tentacles succeeds on a grapple check, it deals an additional 1d6+4 points of damage. The CMD of black tentacles, for the purposes of escaping the grapple, is equal to 10 + its CMB.

The tentacles created by this spell cannot be damaged, but they can be dispelled as normal. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the tentacles last.

Their CMB is +14, CMD is 24.

Before heading into battle, Gathroc will scoop up Gabriel and place him on his shoulder. He then strides into the room, dropping all pretense of stealth. He gazes about the room, trying to determine if there are any leaders beyond the figure at the portal. 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (8) + 23 = 31 Perception

Unless Gabe objects, I'm going to pretty much always carry him on my shoulder into a fight, so its much easier for him to gain flanking.

I assume Kn. Planar for the Daemons, but if Kn. Arcana would do anything: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
No spell resist for Black Tentacles, when it's my turn to go, I will cast it centered at F9 (20ft radius).
Readying a move action to meet a Daemon half-way if they start advancing towards our group.

Sorry, Grigore, but readying an action, even if it's a move action, is a standard action. Also, you have to account for SR for your haste. No-one stated they were lowering their SR as a standard action, so unless I'm mistaken, as we weren't slowing dodwn for anything but stealth(mildly), there wouldn't have been a free standard action to do so with.

Ignac will, if Gathroc doesn't move forward, charge to H13, attacking the guy in H11.

I assume you'll just keep the rolls from before, but you can add a +2, if this action is what is taken. If Gathroc does charge, then I follow him and attack his target from reach.

Grigore is able to identify the clawed daemons as Lacridaemons which are typically low level servitors - though these seem stronger that you would expect. They have no significant abilities that should be feared You also know their abilities as per PFSRD

The robed daemons are Venedaemons - who are powerful sorcerors in their own right and often accompanied by cacodaemons into battle. They feed off the soul gems disgorged by the smaller daemons. As above, you know as per PFSRD - though bear in mind these aren't vanilla flavored.

You cannot identify the smaller figure at the back as is it not clear, though the portal appears to still be active.

Gathroc - can I get a confirmed action please? - you cannot spot any other figures in the room beyond those shown on the map.

I was actually looking to see if one of the figures in the room seemed to be a leader of sorts or in charge of the others, beyond the figure at the portal

Weapon drawn, Gathroc charges one of the enemy, looking to lay him low with one mighty blow. Charging to H12 to attack H13 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (14) + 27 = 41 Power Attack for 1d10 + 29 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + 29 + (5) + (2, 6) = 49

5 of that damage is cold. Also, 1d6 ⇒ 1 V dmg to myself

Gathroc charges forward and his blade brings quick death to the daemon... but the form of the other solidifies quickly around his weapon threatening to hold it fast within it...

Ignac follows Gathroc's lead and moves to attack, scoring a powerful blow, but unable to slay his target outright.
Ignac - since Gathroc took your spot, can you give me an alternate location for where you charge to?

The robed Venedaemons mostly respond to the newly arrived threat by flying thirty feet into the air and unleashing a barrage of sorcerous power...

Two yawning pits open up at the feet of Gathroc and Ignac DC 19 Reflex Save - success means 5ft step in any direction

Failed Save:
40ft deep drop into 5ft of acid, 3d6 falling damage - followed by 2d6 acid damage on your turn

One points at the pair still at the entrance and you feel a cage close around your mind...
Spell Penetration: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Will Save DC 18 or affected by Halt Undead for 9 rounds

The final robed figure unleashes twin spears of liquid fire at Gathroc...

Spell Penetration: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 and 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Damage: 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 2) + (2, 1, 6, 3) = 29 fire

The two Venedaemons in the second line remain watchful and seem to be waiting.

The two rear Venedaemons F,5 and H,5 are delaying. I will update when relevant.

For this combat, might be worth trying to not post out of order. I know it will take more time - but with the amount of spells and terrain effect floating around it will probably keep it easier to not have to back-refer for effects.
Also - if I screw something up, please just point it out and we'll roll forward with it.

Ah, for w/e reason I didn't see that when I read it first. I see it now.

G12, attacking the guy in G10.I assume the same rolls will be kept.

When targeted by the pit spell, Ignac will move to F12, behind the skeletal soldier, giving him +4 AC, and Gathroc loses that bonus, unless he somehow stays adjacent to me.

Sorry, as Ignac said, I haven't been feeling well. Sleep just hasn't been happening, and that's made me more and more exhausted as days went on. Finally slept for 5 hours today though, so I should be okay :p

Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Failure.
No action, then.

Spellcraft to identify the Halt Undead: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29 I'm hoping that I know of the 'until damage is dealt' part :P

Round 1:

193/193 hp, AC 34/22/28, CMD 32.

Leaping from Gathroc's shoulder, Gabriel charges the Daemon that Ignac damaged, and attempts to crush its throat...

It gets an AoO (since I am occupying its square) against AC 38.

+1 Ghost-touch Claw: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40, for 1d1 + 15 + 5d6 ⇒ (1) + 15 + (5, 1, 1, 5, 4) = 32 Magical, Silver, S/B damage.

I was checking over the Graveknight template, and I didn't realize that I counted as an altar for the aura of desecration, so +1 to hit and damage on my attacks. For everyone else within 30 feet of me, at least the undead, +2 to hit and damage from it, and Daemon, it's not too important here, but if you're within 30 feet of me, your Channel Negative Energy to Harm DC goes up by 6. I think that's all of the math I figured out. Oh, everyone also gets a +2 profane bonus to saves while within 30 feet. I also found out that Graveknights receive the bonus HP/HD, as the aura is a part of their creation. So, Ignac will be receiving 20 HP as well, bringing him up to 1 HP over Gabriel's total HP.

TL;DR
So, the total buffs while within 30 feet of me are +6 to DC of negative channel energy, +2 Profane bonus to hit, damage, and saving throws. +2 HP/HD for all undead summoned/animated within 30 feet of me.

Buffs within 5 feet of me are as follows: +4 AC, and I can substitute myself for an attack on someone else, which I automatically get hit with.

I shake off the Venedaemon's pathetic attempts to cage my powerful mind and prepare to cast my spell.

Will post my targeted dispel later, I need to look up the rules. Ignac, Good to know, now I don't need to worry about having desecrate prepared when creating undead.
