Primordial Ooze

Welcome one and all to what should hopefully be an interesting experiment. I have a few things planned for you that I hope will delight and enjoy.

First things first, could those selected please ensure that the crunch on their character specific profile is updated and ready for review? - just pop me a note in this thread when you are ready for me to go over it.

Once everyone has their crunch updated, I'll be making a pass over the characters to try and make sure that the playing field is reasonably equal. This may mean shaving a bit off the top of some builds, and building a few others up with a bit of extra putty.

Any questions you have, please throw them up and I will be happy to enlighten you.

I'll also have some more IC explanation of the mission and how you are being drawn together later.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

bump

thanks for the invite. its gong to be fun.

Edit: The only incorporeal, Yay. Who else is gong to try to play really creepy?

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Dementia Walker, reporting for duty

Male Human Factotum Lvl 4; Hp15/28, Perception4 Int2, Fort2 Ref5 Will4, AC16 T12 F13,

And this is my concept for my Follower from Daemon's Leadership feat

Primordial Ooze

@ Daemon - I'm hesitant about the Leadership feat, mainly due to the potential for an unholy combat muddle - especially if additional summon spells start getting thrown around.

Are you married to that part of the character?

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Not even a little bit, I can switch it out for somthing else, I was waiting on your approval but wrote it up anyway just in case

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Ignác Takács, newly named graveknight Armiger, reporting for duty.

Primordial Ooze

*brushes sweat from brow* - appreciate the change.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Alright, Switched it out for weapon focus(scythe)

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Should we do introductions?

Primordial Ooze

Sorry to be pedantic - but are you both (Daemon and Ignac) finalized or still working on crunch?

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

As far as I can tell, I'm done.

Edit: All I have to do is bring the background I've been mulling over in my head into fruition on the alias. I know it will involve Ignác trying to invade the lands of a powerful necromancer, but having his army being blown over, and him finally getting killed with a shocking grasp from an undead Magus. After this happens, he is raised as a Graveknight by the Necromancer he was trying to kill. One day, the necromancer gets overzealous and raises too many undead, and, being the necromancer's bodyguard, the newly freed Ignác will slaughter him. Afterwords, he will travel to GEb, and be assigned to someone (preferrably a PC) to the end of this mission.

Ignác Takács wrote:

Awaiting Final Approval, but ditto otherwise.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Unless you would like a more detailed background I am done.

edit: I just remembered a question I had. I stated in my history that my character was coated in Unguent of Timelessness to prevent his decay. In its description it states that when used to coat a dead creature it prevents decay so that 1 year is like a day, it also states that anything coated gets +1 bonus to saves (Fort,Ref,Will) I was wondering if this would apply to an undead coated in it or not. Or if you rule that it would not affect an undead at all?

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

I am transferring Gabriel's data across to his page now.

Three quick questions:

I assume that when a creature becomes undead, they lose the benefits of their previous 'type' (for example, Gabriel does not get the Human bonus feat, or the Human bonus skill points)? Please correct me if I am wrong :-)

As an alternative trait, would you allow Gabriel to apply:

Gifted Adept
Source Pathfinder RPG Character Traits 5
Your interest in magic was inspired by witnessing a spell being cast in a particularly dramatic method, perhaps even one that affected you physically or spiritually. This early exposure to magic has made it easier for you to work similar magic on your own. Pick one spell when you choose this trait—from this point on, whenever you cast that spell, its effects manifest at +1 caster level.

to one of his spell-like abilities? He can only manifest them 1/day, so that would make it even more limited than the trait was originally intended.

You also mentioned that you had 'plans' for Gabriel...?

You're wrong. ;-) Undead is a template, not a race change. You don't unlearn a feat just because you take on a template. It's not like reincarnation where you actually change races.

Primordial Ooze

Excellent good - I'll cast my eye over Vesta, Daemon and Ignac over the next few hours and let you know any questions I have.

@ Luke - Keep the feat and skills, and I have no issues with the Gifted Adept trait either.

Additional Info:
None of the party of six are currently in the employ of, or have the acquaintance of, the blood lord that has called upon you. All you know is that it is one of the more powerful members of the council. The mission itself will be introduced IC via a summons to a meeting where it will be laid before you.

It is up to you guys to determine if your characters know each other prior to the summons. You can be free agents in Geb, or currently bound in servitude to a higher power. The blood lord who calls you has enough pull to wrench you out of whatever webs entangle you at present.

Luke_Parry:
Pop me an email at sweetmanmark @hotmail.com and I'll fill you in on the nefarious plans :)

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I'll be helping with an outbreak of the unintelligent undead, if that's okay with you. After all, a graveknight can bend them to his will. I won't be keeping any of course, but I'm part of that organization of the city we're in.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

I am a god slave essentially, originally a willing Cleric of the church I was forced into servitude after becoming a Lich. After several hundred years of forced service in back rooms, restoring books, making scrolls and researching for others, I am only just now being trusted enough to go out into the wider world to help forward the churches cause and I always know that they hold my Phylanctery incase I get any ideas of trying to accumulate my own power.

If anyone else is tied to the church and wants to tie their storyline with mine feel free. Otherwise I will be someone that the Blood lord saw, recognized had great talent and wanted on the team so forced the church to "loan" me to him.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

yay, I got in. I'll have to crunch it up tonight. Also gonna make an alias and such. I for one am not planning on playing creepy at all. I'm going more for the affably evil route. May tie in with Daemon since I'm going urgathoa too. Need to set up everything, basically, but I'll try and get it done tonight/tomorrow.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vestas’s family is renowned undead hunters, hence her surname. Vesta suspects that she inherited her powers due to her parents regular exposure to undead energy or perhaps one of the many curses spouted by undead as her parents and she killed them. Vesta, on the other hand, has not issues with undead and was fascinated with them even before she became one. Needless to say her curiosity and power source eventually caused her to be an outcast from her family.
Vesta became a ghost when she was injured during a failed necromantic experiment. While recovering in her bed he was murdered by a masked person. A few days later she rose as a ghost with a driving rage to avenge her own murder. The problem is she doesn't know who the guilty party is. Perhaps she may never know. In the mean time she occupies her time. She left her body with her parents, but moved it to a secure location after she witnessed her own burial.
(I assume her body's location has something to do with where she respawns. Perhaps It's in Geb or a safe location in the middle of nowhere.)

She now works for geb for her own reasons. Possibly to get aid in finding her killer.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

You know... I like this idea. But I think this is a little too much on my plate for me. I'm in far too many games and such, and just started another real life one, as well as going full-time on my job. I'd like to play this but I really don't think I could do it justice at the moment. It was nice throwing ideas around with you all, and I'll probably lurk this, but I think I'm out. Go ahead and pick up someone else Voice. Good fortune to whoever takes my spot.

No problems Ryuko - sorry to lose you, but appreciate you bowing out early before we get started.

Yay, thanks for the invite! I'll be your guano-insane vampiric nymph druid for the evening. Exits are at the front, middle, and rear of the cabin. In the case of an emergency, your fellow party members may be used as a flotation device. If the world loses air pressure, party hats will descend from the overhead compartment. Please make sure to afix your own party hat before assisting another to do so. The party hat will not help with the lack of air but do not panic as you don't breathe any longer anyway. Have a pleasant adventure and thank you for using GebAir.

I need to select traits, buy equipment and then write up a visual of Euridicea and I think I will be done, Voice. You'll have to tell me if I look too OP, Voice, cause nymph + vampire + point buy cause some crazy stats. I'm up for any mods you suggest.

As to if she knows anyone, that depends if any of the others have been around the Gebite government as Euridicea usually is either at her maker's beck and call, running errands for him around the country, or off in the wilderness during her periods of insanity.

Primordial Ooze

Euridicea - yeah, looking at a Reflex of +28 and Will of +26 made me wince a bit... but I'll wait for a full roster before I attempt to cross balance between characters.

I saw the Charisma of 32. Can I change mine to a vampire nymph ghost? lol

DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:

Yeah, the Nymph bonus to Cha looks to be +14. Vampires get another +4 to Cha. I put point buy to 14 for it for a total of 32. Thats a +11 mod for Cha. One of the nymph's racial abilities allows them to apply their Cha modifer to AC as a deflection bonus, and to all of their saves. Now tack that on with the fact undead HP benefit from high Cha and its gets crazy.

When I was sitting down to do the number crunching, I knew it probably would have to be toned down somehow. So I'm ready for any tweaking you want to institute.

Male Dullahan(formerly an Elf) Weapon Master 4

I'm alive!!

I believe all I need to do is finish off my gear. Quick question, I'm using Icy Burst, would the 1d6 from Frost stack with the 1d6 cold from Chilling Blade. Also, how are we doing HP?? right now I have the HP values from the Dullahan as written in the PRD entry, not rolled at all and I haven't done class HP either.

To Normalize the levels you can just buff my charisma and I'll be happy. ;-) Just saying.

Primordial Ooze

Ah yes - forgot I hadn't clarified HP. I'm happy with max 1st, then average rounded up for 2nd die onwards.

If anyone is keen to roll, then I'm ok with that - but you only get one shot at it and have to keep the result.

Ignac - given the Armiger's HP ability, I'd propose this:
Max 1st
2nd Hit Die onward - take 4, then add 1d4.
Does that work for you?

Gathroc - I'd prefer to have them non-stacking, but allow you to consider icy burst as a +1 enchantment for cost purposes

I figured they wouldn't but was not sure, hence the asking And that is very cool with the Icy, thanks.

EDIT: you said in the OP for recruitment that we'd have a 20 point buy, but as something with decent stats to start with, I did not use the point buy. Should I have?? or am I fine with the base stats, plus increases? Also, with 10 racial HD, I have no idea if or where any ability increase was spent, so should I just ignore the two I would have gotten, and just wait till I get my 4th level of Weapon Master?

Here's Murmur, the Attic Whisperer Bard. This is just a quick copy-paste of the statblock output from Hero Lab, I'll fix it up to make it easier to read soon. I'll also write up background and such after I've had a chance to familiarize myself with Geb and the region (shouldn't take long).

Primordial Ooze

Excellent - so we're all pretty much assembled.

@ Gathroc - should be 20 pt buy, plus the racial modifiers (just assume they are built on a 10/11 base stat for the PRD figures) and you should have 2 ability increases from 4 HD and 8HD.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I'm fine with the normal Armiger HP rule, if that's okay with you, DM Voice.

1d12 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

That is not too shabby. According to the Armiger HP rule, that brings the 1 up to a 6, and, if my math is correct, brings me to 158 HP after toughness, the first HD, and favored class bonus come into play.

Edit: If you don't want me to use the regular rolling, I'll take the mathematical average given in the sidebar, if you don't mind.

Primordial Ooze

@ Ignac - yeah sorry had a brain fart and was working in d8s not d12s. Normal armiger rules are fine :)

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Yeah, when I was reading that I was like "That actually has a worse average than normal, I think I'll just roll." It's all goo though, I still have a ton of HP.

Nothing wrong with my character sheet? I just want to make sure, because I was looking over one I made for one of Monkeygod's campaigns, which I decided to drop out of, and I had my HP total off by a good 20, my to hit and damage off, etc., etc. It's easier to see mistakes if you've got another person lookin' at it, so any scrutiny would be appreciated.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Gabriel has been finalised.

Let me know what you think :-)

I briefly toyed with the idea of both the 'Young' and the 'Advanced' templates to him, but decided that that would be a bit silly, and munchkin-ish :-P

Primordial Ooze

I'll be going over characters in a bit more depth tonight when I get off work. Questions and queries will come then.

@ Gabriel - something to consider, I'll let you re-badge some items as rings so you can spend your cash on some enhancements. As a rule of thumb puntastic I'd be open to allowing them without any cost increase. ie - get a 'ring of dexterity' that costs the same as a belt.

Let's say you get five 'ring' slots and one 'bracelet' slot for magic items that you can use.

Murmur's crunch is complete. Will be reading up on Geb and creating a background soon.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Jeeze, I though that my guy was unbalanced when I was making him up, now I see some of the ungodly high stats that you guys have gotten and I feel like my character is almost normal haha!

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

@DM - Voice: That is kind of you; the work-around that I had come-up with was rather clunky and expensive :-/

@Daemon: I know what you mean; I almost felt that I needed to go back and seriously over-tweak Gabriel to try and somehow beef him up to an equivalent level... Still, the DM did say that he would 'trim down' some of the builds, and 'build up' the others, to make sure that there was a level field, so there is hope for us yet ;-)

Having said that, your necromantic touch means that there is an infinite supply of out-of-combat healing, so I dare say that you will be a valued member of the team :-)

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Hum, I only used wealth as a 9th level character since I have a +2 CR from the lich templet but I see that others are using the 12th level wealth, which should I use?

Primordial Ooze

Wealth should be as per 11th level, or 82,000gp.

And I'll be going over people's stats and gear tonight to try and check on people's builds. Don't get stressed by comparison to others too much at this point.

Primordial Ooze

@ Daemon - a few starter questions:
1) Hit Dice should be 9d8 + 45?
2) Line in profile for Saves is a bit jumbled (math is right), can you edit to make it a bit clearer?
3) CMB should be only a single figure at +8
4) CMD is a whole figure of 19 only
5) Can you breakdown how you get to +11 with your scythe?

Haven't gone thru gear or spells yet.

Primordial Ooze

@ Gabriel - the same:
1) Create spawn ability will not work much in the game, basically so you remain a party of seven rather than an increasing horde.
2) I assume the url link to the Giant Crawling Hand is your proposed summon? - if so could you mark it as such.
3) I'm going to have to be a party pooper on the ring +3 of ghost touch (I'm assuming that's a weapon upgrade?). It should be costed as per an amulet of mighty fists.
4) For me in this thread - could you give a run down of the point buy building up to the final ability totals?
5) Similarly, could you show the math on your saves, and the +25 attack bonus?
6) Should be one less feat? - Total of 14 HD from claw + class, which should provide 7 feats total?

Primordial Ooze

@ Murmur - your turn for a once over:
1) Could you list out the gp values for your gear in this thread in a spoiler?
2) Bard Weapon Proficiencies shouldn't be listed in the feats section.
3) Could you math out your abilities by point buy and your math for attacks and saves as well. Doesn't need to be in profile - just in this thread in a spoiler.
4) For your bite attack in the offense spoiler, could you add a reference to the Steal Breath ability? - similarly for the touch attack and Steal Voice.
5) HP should be 198? - 8 + 12x5 + 130?

Primordial Ooze

@ Ignac - please step over to the microscope, turn your head and cough:
1) Could you cost out your gear in a spoiler in this thread please.
2) I'd appreciate a breakdown of the math behind your attack and stat point buy.
3) Could you pare down the wall o' text in the armiger and graveknight abilities a bit? - just for easier reading. I'd prefer to only see the crunch, and not any fluff. eg. Ruinous Revivification: Electricity.
4) For any abilities that are HD dependent, could you have them only state the appropriate bonus? - eg. DR 2/- for Armored DR.
5) You might want to re-consider the quantity of ILW wands you have, given that one of your number is a Lich.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

1) Understood, although it would require a *lot* of 1HD Crawling Claws to form an unstoppable army :-P
2) Done.
3) Awww.... Okay ;-)
4)

Str 16 + 4 (Template) + 3 (Level and racial HD bump) + 2 (Enhancement) = 25
Dex 14 + 2 (Template) + 2 (Enhancement) = 18
Con -
Int 10 + 2 (Template) = 12
Wis 10 + 2 (Template) = 12
Cha 14 + 4 (Template) = 18

5)Done.
6)Ah, I thought Racial HD followed a separate progression to class levels. I will adjust accordingly.

Primordial Ooze

@ Gathroc - please, please come closer so I may take a look:
1) Could you please add a spoiler stat block to the profile for your steed.
2) Can I get a stat point buy breakdown in this thread in a spoiler.
3) Feats section mentions an 'elvish courtblade' while the main stat block has a scimitar?
4) Can you breakdown your HP? - I counted: 8 + 9x5 + 3*6 + 13*6 = 149

Gear not reviewed yet.

Primordial Ooze

@ Vesta:
1) The line for CMD doesn't need a plus.

Rest looks ok to my untrained eye thus far. I haven't looked over your gear yet, as I have an offer. For items that will be used only by you, please assume that they have the ghost touch quality as no additional cost.

That will let you gear up in a comparable manner to your peers. You can't give the kit to anyone else, but at least you can draw benefit from it.

How does that sound?
