It is a bit cursed isn't it. I have no plans to leave (however likely to be without good internet connection for about 2 weeks over chrismas). Addition I put my hat in the ring to help keep people in the game. I will update the timeline for the other parties stuff but didn't really feel like Andrei should know what happened so I hadn't read all the thread yet.
Well, that's why we're here, isn't it? Because it's been cursed for some time. For what it's worth, I don't plan on bowing out til the game folds or til we reach an ending we're all happy with (for whatever "we" means at that point). It's a bit of a side-project, but I've got a better idea of what Tareth's NPCs look and are like now, so there'll be art up for them sometime soon.
Don't worry much about me, I'm not going to bow out anytime soon. If anything, at worst I would have kept doing what I was doing, just coasting along with the group, offering input only when it suited me.
All, glad we've still got a solid core group that's interested/able to continue. Just an FYI I'm not ignoring things over the last couple of days, but did have a board meeting and server crash at work yesterday (Thank you Monday morning). As soon as I get the 'fire' put out at the office I'll move things forward. Shouldn't be later than Wednesday or Thursday. In the meantime continue to RP as you see fit.
Oh! In addition, Warren and Imon get 300XP for RP. All others bump up to level 2.
Oh, before I forget. Since I'm allowed one more level 1 spell and one more cantrip prepared, I chose Silent Image and Ghost Sound. And as for the letter I wrote Thad, any PC that stays behind at the trading post gets that information at the same time he does, for simplicity's sake. Hope that's not too big a retcon.

I've got so far behind with reading the thread, I'm finding it a bit difficult to keep up. I'm feeling a little bit intimidated by the effort you are all putting in, which I know I cannot match. Which is kind of why I've disappeared. I guess if you don't mind me just blasting in so to speak, I'll start to contribute, although I'm out at a Con tis weekend and preparing for it, so perhaps best if I join in again on Monday, if tha's OK with you guys.
@Gorax: My view is do what's fun for you, if you don't want to do a detailed post don't. Could you just skim the longer posts for what interests you or involves you and just respond briefly to that? I'll keep any actions or statements to your character brief.
That also applies to Imon if you want to keep it brief that's fine.
I've never minded you having something to say, Gorax. This particular stay at the trading post has been the scene mostly of character pieces, and if that's not your thing, whether to read or to do, then so be it. Nothing wrong with that.
As far as the plot goes, Warren's prisoner has accepted being put to work for a year and a day, Kressle's sentence is being put off til she convalesces, and she's given us a copy of her orders. It is from these that we learned of a shrine to Erastil in the western Narlmarches, of a relic that may or may not be connected to it, and that Kressle was supposed to rendezvous with Tartuk in order to secure it for Akiros (her direct superior).
By Monday we'll probably be out in the wilderness somewhere.
@DM_Tareth - According to RAW, I'm to receive a spell from my patron of winter and it's Unshakable Chill, which is a 2nd level spell. I cannot find an official errata on this. Looking around at unofficial fixes, that appear to be some GM's house rules there are a number of ways to handle this.
1) Do nothing - I have the spell in my familiar but cannot cast it until I have 2nd level spell slots.
2) Pick a different 1st -level spell with a cold descriptor.
3) Take the Unshakeable Chill spell and it's first level spell for witches of patron winter of 2nd class level or higher.
4) Do something else.
So DM, would you pick one of the above options and tell me what it is? Thanks.
And speaking of level up I've otherwise made my choices.
For my two 'free' spells, Ear-splitting Shiek and Remove Sickness. Both are in the SRD.
For my 2nd level Hex, after much dithering, I choose (drumroll) Scar for its use in battle healing.
I have (finally) updated my character sheet (and there was much rejoicing in the land.)
For what it's worth, the only first-level spells with the cold descriptor on the druid, sorcerer/wizard, and witch lists (the same lists Unshakeable Chill is on), are Frostbite and Icicle Dagger. None of the other spell lists have any other level 1 spells with the cold descriptor.
*rejoices muchly at news of picks*
Oh, and have a bunch of character portraits. This is everyone listed under the Current NPCs - Settlers and Current NPCs - Others headings excepting the Meyersons, who need more work, and including Kressle, who I had on hand.
Some explanations for artistic choices, as usual. Kesten, Amos, and Emil are all wearing not Restov's colors (though I put Imon in those), or Brevoy's, but the colors of House Garess. I figure if Kesten's commanding them, they're retainers of his house and would be garbed in their colors, though less ostentatiously than Kesten himself.
Oleg and Svetlana I had on hand, and should look familiar to the Kudosites. I did gray out their hair since apparently they're older in this game, but couldn't bring myself to give Oleg a full beard instead of muttonchops. I mean, just look at them!

Great work again Anwel
I'm away over this weekend, I'll have my phone but reception is poor. (in addition I'll be away the next two weekends as well although my phone reception is likely to better for those weekends). In addition just a warning the next two or three weeks are the busiest time in the year for my work so posts are likely to be briefer than normal, sorry (I am not dropping out or thinking about it).
Stellan: While I suppose it was meant to be that the spell is known but can't be cast until 3rd level, I don't really think that makes a lot of sense. I also don't want to just substitute another spell. So here's what I propose:
You get the patron spell Unshakable Chill. But at 2nd level you and your familiar don't quite have the ability/power to use it to full potential. Thus the damage is 1d4 instead of 1d6 until you reach 3rd level. At which point the 'full' damage would apply.
So, from what I gather the plan is for Thad to stay behind to watch Kressle. I'll wait to hear the GM's ideas, but I'm sure we can work with that. One possibility is that she rapidly regains her strength as he prays over her (4x lay on hands per day) she rapidly regains her health, then at one point he (they?) have a vision of the others in danger and head off in pursuit. Or Thad can have his own adventures with whatever happens at the trading post. I'm fine with whatever works :)
Or you can change your mind and just go with us, we haven't left yet. We are, at most, one foot out the door, Thad. Glad you're back, hope all goes well for you.
I'll wait for the GM's input. I like the idea of staying with Kressle and having a chance to RP with her, but it also makes sense that Thad would depart with the party because of the link to Erastil's worship. I'm fine either way.
He is careful to pay attention to his former bandit companion, and chimes in after a long silence. "So, what do you think of being on a divine mission. Maybe you are an important part of Erastil's plan."
Unless I'm forgetting something, I don't believe that Thad has told anyone about that part of his past yet...
Recent posting history shows that is where we are at. Six is a good group! And we have great likenesses now too! By the way, Warren is referring to the malnourished bandit he captured and brought along and not Thad--I didn't even read that part of the background.
Imon shrugged, "That sounds fine with me," he said, which was a lie. Of the choices, the middle watch was his least favorite; he would rather get up and stand watch, or stay up, but getting up and then going back to sleep wasn't for him. He did understand orders though, and he followed them. He unstrung his bow and prepared to go to bed.

Sorry, been hit by man 'flu this week, since returning from last weekend away at CrispyCon. I did leave a note on my main profile 'Deevor', if I haven't left you a note to say what's happening. Will be back with you tomorrow, 23rd.
Family couldn't get together today, last Sat. was our meet. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Put a bit for Gorax to reenter on, expect posting to be slower for a bit anyway.
I'm not sure about the disfiguring aspect of the scar hex. Can the scar be made so small, placed so out-of-sight, as to be no burden at all? I'm not sure about that one way or another. I put it the way I did because it is a curse but maybe it's not so bad if the hexer doesn't want it to be. It would be nice for us but I don't want to abuse the system.
Great RP everyone. Get a bonus 250XP. I'll wait for this conversation to wind down before bumping things forward.
Stellan, I think the way you portrayed the hex is spot on. Perhaps as you grow in level and experience you could produce smaller and less obvious hexes but for now it seems like the perfect 'size.'
Hmm, I was under the impression that it hurt, but not enough to cause any mechanical issues, but apparently I was wrong. Most likely Imon will wrap it and pass it off as an injury. He certainly wouldn't mind the tactical advantage that comes from people underestimating an archer with an apparently wounded arm, either.
@Imon: light is a little different in the PRD than it was in 3.5:
Quote:
You can only have one light spell active at any one time. If you cast this spell while another casting is still in effect, the previous casting is dispelled. If you make this spell permanent (through permanency or a similar effect), it does not count against this limit. Light can be used to counter or dispel any darkness spell of equal or lower spell level.
"The directions Cal gave me to Arrowhead Butte back at the trading post were to follow the game trails west from the camp Kressle commanded," says Anwel, sounding annoyed again. Indeed his pique is, if anything, amplified, since he had explained this directly to Thad at Thad's convenience before they left. The conclusion should be obvious, but Anwel decides to spell it out anyway, in case anyone else was feeling particularly obtuse. "The problem with 'making directly for the Butte' is that we do not know precisely where it is. It did not appear on any of the maps I copied back at the trading post, and, Montey and Tuney notwithstanding, it is not as though we can see the crest of a tor on the horizon and use it as a landmark. Even if we could, there is no guarantee that it would be the right one. Changing the point at which we begin to follow the game trails west might easily change where we end up, and cutting directly across country seems to me one of the best ways to get lost and ambushed.
"We need not try to take the camp should we find it held against us," he says. "We can try and sneak around it, but I do not see a way to reach our destination without starting there, not with the information we have." Anwel spreads his hands wide, as if to embrace the irony. "More information is always welcome, of course," he says, looking at Tam, the hypothetical information's most logical source.
I get that we're going in the same general direction as the camp to orient ourselves to the butte, but it's a mountain!
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the geography... but isn't it a large mountain to the west of camp? Shouldn't we just need to be in the general area, and maybe climb a tree to get a better look at the mountains to pick out the one with the jagged summit? Why do we even need to get within ten miles of the camp itself?
To provide a little more clarity, Arrowhead Butte is part of a series of hills that run along the western edge of the Narlmarches in this region of the Stolen Lands. Most of these hills are 1000' to 2000' in elevation higher than the swamps and forest to the east. At that height the hills would be visible by anyone climbing above the forest canopy for a distance of 50-55 miles depending on weather conditions. Assuming the observer could make a good guess as to which summit is Arrowhead Butte, you should be able to locate it without too much trouble as long as you don't wander too far north or south.

Tareth answered better than I could, but I was working under the impression that Arrowhead Butte was one of many fairly low hills and that it was not particularly distinct visually from its neighbors. The key phrase, for me, in Tareth's explanation is "assuming the observer could make a good guess as to which summit is Arrowhead Butte", which implies that the observer should be either Tam, who presumably knows the area, or someone with a Knowledge (geography) high enough to identify a tor they've never seen and barely heard described.

Sorry I've been slow on replying been getting ready to head off for Christmas. I will post something from my phone soon as Andrei has input into current conversation but I've been busy. Will have phone and reception but please GM Andrei if a fight starts and I haven't responded I don't want to hold people up (round 1 inspire courage, then wade in, pause to heal people if required). I'll have computer at the in laws early Jan and back home mid Jan.
