Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

personally, I'm fine with a slow, steady pace. I joined this for a chance to RP (my IRL group is all about KILL WITH FIRE/SWORDS), and I'm fine with however it happens to go.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

@DM: I have an idea for fluff. I was thinking that Zavac's heals would take on the appearance of fire. Being one of Sarenrae's domains, I thought it would be interesting (and give me something to work with other then "a white light shoots forth")

@Zevac: Sounds good to me. It should fit right in with the half-orc's unusual nature. Fair warning, it may startle some of the current or future NPC's at first...or they may find it incredibly fascinating and interesting. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Fair enough. It's what I'm going for with this character: unusual, yet effective. Thanks for the go-ahead.

Male Human Ranger

DM: In a Carrion Crown AP mod, I think, Paizo came up with optional rules for sleep deprivation, maybe a fort save or such. I don't have access myself, but I remember a buddy happily mentioning it. Might be something to think about with this being a wilderness heavy AP.

I'm good with whatever you decide, I just can't remember much in the core rules i.e. lack of sleep, just armor and fatigue to be considered when sleeping encumbered.

@Kams: I don't have that AP, but if it does become a factor I'll likely start to have everyone save or become fatigued and eventually exhausted. Save DC would be modified based on the numbers of hours without any significant rest. Of course this doesn't take into account the impact on spell casters if the party has to go a few days without rest.

Male Human Ranger

Sorry Kams has been MIA, had to experience the early arrival of my first grand-daughter wed. night into yesterday morning, so was AFK. I should bring Kams back up to current this evening after getting work/RL caught back up.

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Hurray for babies! Congrats! Hope Mom and other family are also doing well.

Congrats Kams. Hope all are doing well. Now there's someone for you to spoil shamelessly. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Aww, congrats! :D

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Hurray for babies when they still smell nice and can't crawl and get into trouble.

Male Human Ranger

Thanks for the well wishes folks. Mommy and baby are ok, except that little Keana Spring has a mild blood infection. Apparently my daughter had a mild pelvic infection, which was passed during labor or birth. They are releasing mommy tomorrow, but baby the want to keep a few more days, to make sure everything's fine. The docs say nothing to worry about, but worry's a constant with children, now more so I find with grandchildren.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. It's always hard when children have such things, but thankfully it's easily remedied.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

My prayers as well.

Thanks again for those that let me have the Brad Pitt - Legends of the Fall avatar. It really fits Warren and his 'wild flowing hair' concept.

Congrats Kams! Add my prayers as well. Well wishes to all.

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Actually, he's Eado Kline the most bad *ss shamefully multiclassed Pathfinder ever.

Bard/Sorc/Rogue, if I recall correctly. Herp, I'm a complete tool and couldn't do much without someone around to protect me.

Elf Paladin 2

Fair warning, I'm traveling back home from vacation over the next few days and my posting rate might be affected... pasting this into the discussion thread of all my active games.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

As much as I'd like to chase after wolves, I recommend sticking with the caravan. Also Warren is a live and let live person. He hasn't seen any evidence first hand to convince him these animals are evil, though the size might indicate Wargs, Warren always give animals the benefit of the doubt.

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

True, but Worgs aren't wolves. They're magical beasts that have intelligence and like to kill things. They are a threat to people who don't know how to defend themselves from them, like farmers and such.

But Worgs are a long term problem, and we're trying to set up a long term solution. We need the smith and farmers to set up that long term solution, ergo, they're higher priority.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

LOL Zavac -- Reading Tityanna's wonderful post--I just had to follow up on it. We do not lack for roleplaying in this group.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Haha, no worries. Makes for interesting RP, anyway. What's wrong with a little bromance?

I'm laughing so hard right now...sorry if anyone found that inappropriate. Love the post, Tityanna, you sly devil you.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

To quote Seinfeld, 'Not that there would be anything wrong with that'

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

haha. she's a small town girl, and I don't imagine there's very many apple orchards in the Gronzi forest since the Brevoy article says their mainstays are sheep and goat herding because they have no grazing land to speak of. live in Norway, where almost all your fruits are imported from the continent, and in some cases Israel and South America, you recognize how precious they can be.

was going to ask if she could hear you guys at all, or if you were being secret like.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

I'm fine with you overhearing it.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Now I need to quote 'Good Will Hunting'

How about them apples?

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

The action heats up quickly == adrenaline is flowing. It turns out Warren comes out of his shell in times of crisis when he feels in his element.

Tareth, I think taking 10 on knowledge checks is not legal (cannot retry a failed knowledge check, which is the basis for the take 10 & 20 rules). If that's the case, I'll continue to roll these things...

Taking a 10 doesn't have anything to do with retrying and failing, it's simply treating it as a routine action that you are competent to perform:

Quote:
Taking 10: When your character is not in immediate danger or distracted, you may choose to take 10. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, calculate your result as if you had rolled a 10. For many routine tasks, taking 10 makes them automatically successful. Distractions or threats (such as combat) make it impossible for a character to take 10. In most cases, taking 10 is purely a safety measure—you know (or expect) that an average roll will succeed but fear that a poor roll might fail, so you elect to settle for the average roll (a 10). Taking 10 is especially useful in situations where a particularly high roll wouldn't help.

It is legal to take an action on knowledge checks, just not a 20.

My DM avatar would disagree with that. Taking 10 implies that if given enough time to think about it I would know the answer to any question that merited a DC 17 check or lower, which is a heck of alot. Logically, I think you always have to roll a knowledge check - but I defer to Tareth of course.

Definitely better for my character if you can take 10, though. :)

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

just to make sure, the folk who are still with the caravan are not part of this combat/scene, correct?

Tityanna: Correct, you and Thad are not part of the current combat encounter...at this point. However, I'll keep the RP going, unless it gets confusing.

On the Knowledge Check question, I'm going to say that by their nature Knowledge Checks are a 'Yes/No' result, not a 'routine task,' so taking a 10 doesn't seem to really apply just like taking a 20 doesn't. In addition, allowing a 10 would result in an automatic success for any low-mid level DC as long as the character has it as a class skill, invested a point, and has a reasonable INT bonus. It just seems that that kind of knowledge should not be available to adventurers just starting out.

My laptop died on the last leg of my trip back home, I finally got a replacement computer and now I'm catching up on all my games...

+1

Also, do Bless and Inspire Courage stack?

The Exchange

Dammit - probably not. But we pic up +1 damage and +1 vs charm (they might have puppies).

Since they are both of the same type (Mind-affecting) the bonuses do not stack, but you do get the +1 dmg/+1 vs. charm. See PCB pg 208-209.

Warren, usually the pets/familiars/companion/etc act on your turn, so I don't think there's a need to post their init separate. :)

Sounds good - help us put the hurt on this Warg.

Actually, I thought the inspire courage bonus to combat was from competence, the charm and fear bonus was from morale. I just checked here and found your ruling, so my to hit is therefore off by 1. Sorry.

Also, sorry about the delayed post. Pulled near double shift today.

I am enjoying the action. I do not in any way feel that we are not being adequately challenged.

Warren has compassion for the allies summoned from beyond. He is hoping Zavac can channel energy to save the dog and heal him at the same time.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

I tried! rolled a 1.... >.>

Hopefully your healing stabilizes him before he returned. In that case, Warren will feel much better. He would feel guilty thinking of the dog bleeding out somewhere.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

We just need to keep Aliana free to fire!

:-D

Male Human Ranger

I wasn't sure if Survival would tell me about bounties/prices for worg pelts, thought it might have been Knowledge Nature or even Local perhaps.

If Survival works, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19...

Kams: I think Knowledge(Local) makes more sense to know what's being traded or supply/demand related questions in the local markets. As a side note, there were furs and pelts on the wagon, so you would have at least some idea that there is likely a demand or trade value to the pelts.

*posting this on all my PbP's*

I'm sorry for my being absent. The internet at my house has been out, and I only have a short time to get on while at the university. I'll do my best to keep up, but until it gets fixed, I'll be kinda SOL.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

No problem Zavac, we can make up the slack. My last post had Warren encouraging Zavac along. If GM permits I will roll Zavac into my posts too for a while.

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

I am back in the States and on PST now. Gonna be a while til my brain is fully in it though. Is it Tityanna's action in the caravan now?

Tityanna: Yes, it's your action and then Thad's.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Great post Kams, hope I could add some to the 'negotiation'.

Male Human Ranger

Actually, Kams' statement, from both the spirit and letter of the agreement, was only intended to be binding between the worg, Erastil, and Kams. As he is not the recognized leader of the group, nor even it's spokesperson, Kams felt he should not intentionally put any constraints on the rest of the party.

Having been said, that others would choose to join themselves to his pact is sobering for Kams. In both Galt and the River Kingdoms, it was usually in only one's own words, deeds, and oaths that he could truly depend. He'll probably be more careful in the future, though then again, he is still young, headstrong, and not a little bit rash.
